Adriano Moraes can now say he’s the only fighter to knock out Demetrious Johnson.

While nobody was questioning the abilities of Adriano Moraes, he sent shockwaves through the MMA world, let alone ONE Championship, by knocking out Demetrious Johnson less than three minutes into the second round of their ONE on TNT 1 fight to retain the ONE flyweight title.

This marks the first time that “Mighty Mouse” has been finished in a loss.

ONE on TNT 1: Adriano Moraes defeats Demetrious Johnson to retain ONE flyweight title

After a bit of feeling each other out, Johnson got to work with his striking, landing a few knees. Moraes, however, focused on his kicks before catching one of Johnson’s and ending up on top in a takedown. Moraes focused on his top control for the rest of round one and didn’t let up, while Johnson worked in the guard.

Johnson looked to use his footwork and get back with his striking in the second round. Moraes, however, managed to stun Johnson with an uppercut, knocking him down. Moraes then scrambled on top of Johnson and didn’t let up before landing a brutal knee that knocked out Johnson.

Vaccine eligibility to expand in NJ

New Jersey residents ages 16 and older will be eligible for the COVID vaccine starting Monday. 16 and 17-year-olds will need a parent or guardian to pre-register on their behalf. Anyone pre-registering is encouraged to provide an e-mail address to allow for a faster registration process. On Thursday, Governor Phil Murphy stated the current pause on the Johnson & Johnson vaccine will not impact expanding eligibility.

How many people in your area are hesitant to get the COVID-19 vaccine?
Most states have opened up COVID-19 vaccination to everyone 16 and older, but not everyone is lining up to get the shot. With the recent temporary pause on the distribution of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, doctors worry about an increase in vaccine hesitancy that may not be warranted. Using data from the U.S. Census Bureau's Household Pulse Survey, the CDC found that as many as a third of adults in some areas reported being hesitant about getting the COVID-19 vaccine. These rates are highest in the states of Wyoming and North Dakota, and lowest in Massachusetts, Vermont and California.
