The former TNA star was reported to have been given the boot for refusing to get rid of her Twitch and Only Fans accounts, which provided her with additional revenue.
Vega's opening of an Only Fans account was deemed to be a breach of contract by supremo Vince McMahon.
But according to Fightful Select, the 30-year-old is set to return to the WWE roster.
They claim Vega was spotted at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida on Thursday.
Vega's surprise visit to the performance center was said not to be a social call.
A camera crew were reportedly filming the New Yorker, a claim which was verified by wrestling an MMA insider Dave Meltzer.4
Vega's seemingly imminent return would suggest she's now accepted the company's controversial banning of third-party deals.
Vega hasn't spoken at great length about her departure from the WWE, although she did release a statement soon after her release was made public.
She said: "I want to say thank you all very much for the last 3-4 years @WWEUniverse, it was incredible.
"I would have never have been able to say 'this is for you dad' if certain people did not believe in me.
"I love you all and I couldn’t have done it without your support."4Zelina Vega's release from the WWE caused uproar Most read in WWESLAM PUNKCM Punk takes subtle dig at Vince McMahon as he replies to Charlotte Flair postVideoRAW FALLWWE abandon match as Humberto Carrillo suffers sickening injury against SheamusPicturedCHELSEA BLUEAxed WWE star Chelsea Green reveals she wants to be Playboy modelGossipMONEY IN THE BANKLynch signs new WWE deal worth more than $1m-a-year as she nears returnPictured'LIL MOMMA'Ronda Rousey shows off baby bump as UFC and WWE legend celebrates Mother's DayGossipTRASH TALKChelsea Green reveals WWE sent her WRONG belongings in trash bag after axe

Flores, who homered twice in Sunday’s win over Philadelphia, extended his hitting streak to 10 games with a two-run shot in the first off Andrew Heaney (4-5) to make it 4-0. Four of Flores’ seven home runs have come during his hitting streak.
Mauricio Dubón also went deep and Brandon Crawford had three hits for the NL West leaders, who have won seven of eight.
Since giving up 10 earned runs against the Dodgers on May 23, DeSclafani has allowed only six runs (five earned) in his last five starts for a 1.42 ERA while holding opposing hitters to a .171 batting average (19 for 111).
The Giants struck early, with all their runs coming in the first two innings. After Buster Posey’s grounder scored Mike Yastrzemski, Brandon Belt drove in Darin Ruf with a perfect bunt down the third-base line that stayed fair to make it 2-0.
