Four people, including three juveniles, were arrested Wednesday night, June 9, after a man was shot to death at a Riverside park, the Riverside Police Department said.
Indications are that the victim was robbed and shot in a gang-related attack.
Officers responded to Bryant Park at 7950 Philbin Ave. at about 8 p.m. for a report of a shooting, said Officer Ryan Railsback, a Police Department spokesman.
“It appears the victim and several teenagers were arguing when one of them produced a gun and shot the victim,” Railsback said.
The victim, who appeared to be in his 40s, was taken to a hospital, where he died, Railsback said. His name has not been publicly announced.
The Riverside police helicopter crew, SWAT team and other officers swarmed the area and detained the four people. The one adult was 18 years old.
The Riverside County jail log shows that 18-year-old Joseph Lee Auciello was arrested at 8:10 p.m. several blocks from Bryant Park, at the intersection of Challen Avenue and Curran Drive. Auciello was booked into Robert Presley Detention Center on suspicion of first-degree murder, second-degree robbery and gang membership.
