UFC 263: Predicting the Fight of the Night.
UFC 263 is a loaded card, middleweight champion Israel Adesanya headlines this PPV when he looks to defend his championship against the No. 3 ranked UFC middleweight contender Marvin Vettori. Other exciting fights on this card include Brandon Moreno once again challenging flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo in a rematch from their late 2020 contest that was a fight of the year candidate.UFC 263 will also showcase the return of Nate Diaz as he faces Leon Edwards in an unprecedented five round fight.
When predicting the Fight of the Night on this card, there are really only two options; Figueiredo vs. Moreno or Diaz vs. Edwards. The flyweight rematch sticks out as a candidate for Fight of the Night because of the brutal war that took place in their first contest. In their first fight, both men took each others hardest shots and continued fighting, they both displayed massive hearts to go along with their tremendous skill level. Their first contest was one of the most exciting fights of 2020 and on any other card this would be the clear favorite for Fight of the Night.
Diaz vs. Edwards is a Fight of the Night candidate because of the extensive track record that Diaz has for putting on exciting fights. The Diaz brothers’ hardcore fanbase stems from the in-your-face fighting style that both brothers display in each and every one of their fights. With an opponent like Edwards that will be willing to stand and strike with Diaz, this fight is sure to be one that is can’t miss.
When predicting just one of these contests to be Fight of the Night, Diaz vs. Edwards sticks out as the favorite for the sheer fact that there is no way that Figueiredo and Moreno will fight the same exact way that they did in the first fight. Adjustments will likely be made by both fighters which could change the entire dynamic of this fight. If they can somehow duplicate their 2020 contest then both men should never face any other opponent again.Next: 5 of the best (and worst) rematches in UFC history UFC 263 takes place on Saturday, June 12, 2021, live from the Gila River Arena in Glendale, AZ.
