The first high-speed train on the China-Laos railway line was transferred to Vientiane on October 16 and handed over to the operator.
This white, red and blue painted Electromotive Force (EMU) train, designed and built in China, can run at a maximum speed of 160 km per hour. The train was transferred to the Laos-China Railway Joint Venture, which is responsible for developing and managing the high-speed rail link between the two countries.
The train departed from Kunming, Yunnan Province, China, to the capital Vientiane under the supervision of the National Railway Corporation. China (CNRG)
After the handover ceremony in Vientiane yesterday, the train will be tested before the opening day of the 1,000-kilometer Laos-China railway, which will take place on National Day. Laos 2/12.

The trains running on the Laos-China high-speed railroad are named Longkong, the ancient name of Laos and the name of the area of the Mekong River that flows through China. The paint color on the carriages represents the national flag of Laos, and the interior bears the emblem of the daffodils, the national flower of Laos.
Each train can carry 720 people
EMU is a multi-car train that is self-propelled and uses electricity as the driving force. The EMU train does not require a machine to pull the entire train, fast acceleration, low noise and almost no pollution. The driving car of an EMU train is usually arranged at both ends to easily change the direction of the train.
Construction of the 414-km Laos-China high-speed railway from Botan to Yunnan border began in 2016, with an initial contract awarded for CNRG $ 1.2 billion. In June 2020, Chinese media reported that the value of the project had increased to US $ 6 billion.
The railway is part of China’s belt and road initiative, which aims to connect Kunming with Singapore on the 5,500-kilometer Trans-Asian Railway.

Sen. Rick Scott Calls for Meeting to Discuss NBAs Relationship with Murderous and Tyrannical Chinese Government
Senator Rick Scott (R, FL) is calling on NBA Commissioner Adam Silver to answer for his league’s silence over the “ongoing genocide” taking place in China.
The NBA has maintained longstanding business ties with China through many lucrative broadcasting deals, player endorsements, and apparel sales and manufacturing arrangements using Chinese labor. Labor which, reportedly and almost assuredly, is being provided by Uyghur Muslim slaves in Xinjiang.
The league terminated a basketball training academy it had operated in Xinjiang in 2020.
“I write to request a meeting at the soonest possible date for us to discuss the NBA’s involvement in Communist China,” Scott wrote. As I am sure you know, I have been vocal about the league’s use of Communist Chinese-made apparel, its decision to crack down on Daryl Morey after his comments about protests in Hong Kong, the abuse of young players at NBA academies, and your organization’s silence about Communist China’s horrific human rights abuses and the ongoing genocide against Uyghur Muslims in Xinjiang. I have also urged the NBA to support my call to move the 2022 Olympic Games out of Communist China and to a country that actually respects human rights. Sadly, you have chosen to be silent on this as well.”

Scott continued, “I want to be very clear – the issues I have outlined are neither speculative nor subject to debate. These are facts. The NBA has done nothing to stand up to Communist China, and in some ways has taken actions that seem to have no purpose other than to please General Secretary Xi’s murderous and tyrannical Communist Chinese government.”
Scott further reminded the league that they have a voice for freedom and human rights in China in their midst, in Boston Celtics center Enes Kanter Freedom. Freedom, who began wearing shoes critical of the Beijing regime and openly challenging NBA stars with lucrative business deals in China to stand up to the oppression of the Muslim minorities in China, has seen his playing time until recently.

“I recently had a conversation with Boston Celtics player Enes Kanter Freedom to discuss these matters,” Scott explained. “I admire his bravery and commitment to freedom and democracy across the world. Players like Enes, who recently became an American citizen, should be celebrated by the NBA and held up as an example of courageous advocacy for the common good.”
The NBA has offered no support for Freedom’s stand in support of Uyghur Muslims or his criticisms of communist China.
