The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office confirmed to KPIX 5 on Tuesday that 30-year-old Dana Dawson was released from jail. Two more are scheduled to appear in court Tuesday but may have already been released from custody.The Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office says more than 90 people stormed the Nordstrom Department Store in Walnut Creek on November 20 using three separate entrances.     (CNN)Three suspects were arrested Saturday night after dozens ransacked a Nordstrom department store near San Francisco in what police are calling a "smash-and-grab" incident.About 80 suspects were involved in the crime at the department store in Broadway Plaza, an outdoor mall in Walnut Creek east of San Francisco, and they fled in at least 10 different vehicles, Lt. Ryan Hibbs at the Walnut Creek Police Department told CNN. "A number of vehicles were leaving. We managed to stop one of them," said Hibbs, adding that no injuries were reported. Authorities are questioning those who were arrested to determine the identities of the other suspects, Hibbs said.     WALNUT CREEK — The city will station uniformed police officers at Nordstrom in the downtown Broadway Plaza, agreeing to a request from the luxury department store to beef up security and ward off potential crime. The City Council voted unanimously at a meeting Tuesday to allow a police presence at the store in a pre-emptive effort to deter thefts or robberies. City staff noted in the meeting’s agenda that a “regional uptick in flash mob ‘grab and run’ thefts,” where people pretending to be shoppers suddenly snatch items off the shelves and make a quick getaway. There have not been any grab-and-run thefts at this Nordstrom.
