Getty Linebacker Devin Bush is frustrating Steelers brass. The Pittsburgh Steelers are not too happy with a former first-round draft pick’s development. According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the Steelers have grown frustrated with third-year linebacker Devin Bush. His over-pursuit in run coverage and his liability in pass coverage have caught the attention of Steelers brass. The Steelers defensive unit currently ranks 23rd in points allowed and 28th in rushing yards allowed — a major contrast to the franchise’s identity over the years. “The Steelers leveraged significant draft capital and went counter to their usual draft process to move up 10 picks to select Devin Bush 10th overall in 2019, but frustration with Bush’s development are becoming more obvious,” via La Canfora. “Bush has struggled mightily this season, caught out of position at times and often over-eager to make a play, leading to him being benched occasionally and prompting questions about how to better unlock him, sources said. Bush is well liked and has a good attitude, but has been a liability in pass coverage, is...
Getty Dallas Cowboys WR Amari Cooper. One of the most maligned former Raiders over the last few years has been wide receiver Amari Cooper. The 2015 first-round pick made the Pro Bowl in each of his first two seasons with the team but his production quickly took a nosedive. Over his last 20 games with the Raiders, he only had 960 receiving yards and would disappear for games at a time. The team decided to trade him to the Dallas Cowboys in the middle of the 2018 season for a first-round pick. After the trade, Cooper did throw a bit of shade at the Raiders, which earned him the ire of the fan base. However, it has been three years since the trade and there doesn’t appear to be any hard feelings. Cooper was supposed to play against his former team for the first time on Thanksgiving but will be sitting out due to COVID-19. He still had a chance to talk about his former team. “I don’t have any bitter feelings,” Cooper said. “I can’t say that...
Joe Sargent/Getty Images Head coach Mike Tomlin of the Pittsburgh Steelers on November 14, 2021. On Saturday afternoon the Pittsburgh Steelers made a series of roster moves in anticipation of Sunday night’s showdown with Justin Herbert, Joey Bosa and the rest of the Los Angeles Chargers. First and foremost, the Steelers activated quarterback Ben Roethlisberger from the Reserve/COVID-19 list to the 53-man roster with the expectation that he will start vs. the Chargers. Per Steelers director of communications Burt Lauten, Roethlisberger will not fly on the team charter, but will instead take a separate flight to Los Angeles. #Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger will be activated to the team’s 53-man roster after passing the NFL’s required COVID-19 protocols. Getty The Bucs are bringing back Breshad Perriman. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are reuniting with former wide receiver Breshad Perriman. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Bucs agreed to terms with Perriman on a deal that will begin with the receiver joining the practice squad. “Recently-released WR Breshad Perriman cleared waivers and is going to sign with his former team, Tampa Bay, per his agent @DrewJRosenhaus,” Schefter tweeted on November 9. “Perriman will start off on practice squad but Bucs anticipate him being activated in near future.” The move also likely signals that star receiver Antonio Brown still has a long road ahead before returning to the field. Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians noted that Brown is still in a walking boot and expressed concern about the receiver’s injury. “I think you still have to worry a little bit about Gronk (Rob Gronkowski) and I don’t know if A.B. (Antonio Brown) is going to make it back,” Arians noted during his November 8 press conference, per Buccaneers.com. “And Carlton [Davis] will stay on IR. We’ll see...
The Las Vegas Raiders released their second first-round pick of the 2020 draft on Monday, less than a week after losing their first. Raiders cornerback Damon Arnette was waived by the organization after a video was released that showed Arnette wielding multiple guns and issuing death threats, according to a report citing Raiders General Manager Mike Mayock. The decision to get rid of Arnette was a "very painful decision," Mayock said. RUGGS RELEASED FROM RAIDERS AND APPEARS IN COURT "There have been a series of bad decisions over the last year or so, but we can't stand, we cannot stand for the video of Damon with a gun, threatening to take a life," Mayock said. "The content was unacceptable, contrary to our values, and our owner Mark Davis has been very clear and very consistent that this is not how we will conduct ourselves in this community. The bottom line — the Raiders will not tolerate this type of behavior." The team executive spoke with Arnette and his father and determined the 25-year-old needed...
The Las Vegas Raiders have reportedly released former first-round pick Damon Arnette, who hasn’t appeared in a game since Week 4.  Another first-round pick of the Las Vegas Raiders is no longer with the team. Last week, Las Vegas cut ties with wide receiver Henry Ruggs III after his horrific DUI incident which took the life of a 23-year-old woman. Now, Damon Arnette is also no longer a Raider. According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, the Raiders released the second-year cornerback on Monday. Arnette appeared in nine games last year, making seven starts. This season, however, he had only appeared in four contests. Getty Former Buccaneers receiver Breshad Perriman was released by the Bears. The Chicago Bears have released Breshad Perriman. Adam Schefter of ESPN reported the news on Sunday, November 7. The former Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver signed with the Bears in early September shortly after he was released by the Detroit Lions during final cuts at the end of August. However, Perriman never even played in a single game with the Bears following his signing. The UCF product has had multiple chances in different destinations — including playing for the Cleveland Browns and New York Jets — but has never really shown off his potential. His best season actually came in his lone year with the Buccaneers during the 2019 season. In 14 games played and four stars, Perriman posted 36 receptions for 645 yards and six touchdowns (all career-highs). At just 28 years of age, Perriman has now bounced...
Getty LA Clippers big man Serge Ibaka in action against the Washington Wizards. Make no mistake about it — some things have been askew for the LA Clippers in the early season. Eric Bledsoe has struggled to adjust to his new digs, the team is currently dead last in rebounding percentage at 47.1 and, too often, Paul George has appeared to be flying solo on the court. All of that aside, though, the Clippers’ biggest problem is one of availability. The injury to Kawhi Leonard is the headliner, of course, but several other players have also been out with injuries, including key rotational cogs. Help appears to finally be on the way, however. As noted by The Athletic’s Law Murray and others, two names were notably absent from the Clippers’ latest injury report for the first time this season — Serge Ibaka and Keon Johnson. Leonard, Marcus Morris and Jason Preston continue to be out of commission, but it appears as though Ibaka and Johnson will be available for the Clippers’ Sunday night bout with the Charlotte Hornets.A Long...
Getty Damon Arnette of the Las Vegas Raiders. As the Las Vegas Raiders continue to deal with the fallout of Henry Ruggs being charged with a DUI resulting in the death of 23-year-old woman Tina O. Tintor and her dog, the team could have another scandal brewing. TMZ Sports reported on November 5 that cornerback Damon Arnette is getting sued for his involvement in a violent crash with a woman that left her injured. However, that’s not the only drama involving Arnette right now. A video started circulating online on Friday of the 2020 first-round pick waving a gun while threatening to kill somebody after getting into an argument through his Instagram direct messages. But the fact that starting quarterback Carson Wentz took that kneeldown was great news for the Eagles. The terms of the trade that sent Wentz from Philadelphia to Indianapolis say that the Eagles get the Colts’ 2022 first-round pick if Wentz plays 75 percent of the Colts’ offensive snaps this season, or if Wentz plays 70 percent of snaps and the Colts make the playoffs. Otherwise, the Eagles get the Colts’ second-round pick. If the Colts wanted to prioritize protecting their first-round pick, an easy way to do it would be to take Wentz out of games that have already been decided. But that’s not what they’re doing. Getty N'Keal Harry When November 2, 4pm ET rolls around, the New England Patriots’ N’Keal Harry is going to still be a topic of discussion. Right now, many are talking about Harry’s prospects of remaining with the Patriots after the break. At least one writer thinks there is truth to the speculation that Harry will be on the move. Harry requested a trade in July, and the Patriots should be willing to deal him. The 23-year-old has failed to establish a rapport with rookie Mac Jones—the third starting quarterback in as many years whom he hasn’t shown any chemistry with—and he’s drawn a meager five targets across four games. Harry has a $2.8 million cap hit this year and a $3.2 million cap hit in 2022. The Patriots would be wise to clear his salary from the books rather than watch him slog through another abysmal campaign. Although the Pats used the No. 32 pick on Harry in 2019—selecting him ahead of star wideouts like Deebo Samuel, DK Metcalf and A.J. Brown—they’ll likely have to choose between accepting...

The Steelers should investigate what it will take to pry Deshaun Watson away from the Texans, but they should only acquire him via a bargain trade.  Ben Roethlisberger’s declining skills mean the Steelers need to be on the lookout for their quarterback of the future. That makes a trade for Deshaun Watson an interesting thought exercise for Pittsburgh’s front office. At the moment, the Texans are continuing to value Watson as if he’s one of the best quarterbacks in football. On the field, that’s probably still true. However, Watson’s bevy of off-the-field issues should drastically lower Houston’s trade demands for the embattled signal-caller. If the Texans are going to hold firm with their reported demands of multiple first-round picks in any Watson trade then the Steelers should quickly hang up the phone on any potential trade talks. Instead, Pittsburgh should be looking to test Houston’s resolve with a cut-rate deal right ahead of this year’s NFL Trade Deadline. So what should the Steelers actually offer? The Texans aren’t going to engage in any meaningful trade talks without the inclusion of at least one...
SANTA CLARA — Javon Kinlaw came to the 49ers only 18 months ago with grand plans. “Just another physical, dominating presence attached with three more,” Kinlaw envisioned of himself and fellow defensive linemen Nick Bosa, Dee Ford and Arik Armstead. The company that Kinlaw is now threatening: 49ers’ draft busts, of which there’ve been too many since this regime took over in 2017. He was their top draft pick last year. Sure, he was another defensive lineman, but that is where this regime wants the centerpiece of the roster to reside. That said, they didn’t want to pay defensive tackle DeForest Buckner, so they traded him to the Indianapolis Colts in March 2020 for a first-round pick (Kinlaw). Sunday night, it fittingly rained further on the 49ers’ parade, with Buckner sacking Jimmy Garoppolo to cap a 30-18 defeat in which Kinlaw did not play. Kinlaw, now, is looking like a first-round bust, unless his knee can be fixed, presumably for a 2022 comeback. Will he flame out faster than 2017 top pick Solomon Thomas,...

The Jets have finally added a veteran quarterback, and it’s a familiar face. Gang Green acquired Joe Flacco from the Eagles for a conditional sixth-round pick, according to a team source. This Miami Dolphins season is swaddled in such stink even the good news smells. Even the rare draft choice that looks right isn’t right on closer inspection. The various manners this front office has bungled first-round picks is reminiscent of an old actor, Fred MacMurray, summing up the various ways he did away with frequent co-star Barbara Stanwyck in movies: “Once I sent her to jail, once I shot her, once I left her for another woman and once I sent her over a waterfall.” Once they took the wrong quarterback, once they took a left tackle who’s now demoted to guard, once they took a cornerback who can’t get on the field and once they made a bad trade that’s trending to so awful it can’t be covered up by a good player. Let’s start here on that last idea: Jaylen Waddle is everything the Dolphins wanted. The speed. The ankle-breaking change of direction. He caught six passes Sunday against Atlanta and each went for a first down. He’s a good rookie. But again: Even the good news isn’t...

Getty The Seattle Seahawks could trade LJ Collier before the deadline. The NFL trade deadline quickly approaches, and several teams are examining moves that could clear up some cap space, bring in extra draft picks, or secure a piece of the puzzle. According to a report by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Seattle Seahawks could move a former first-round pick. Rapoport provided the update on October 24 before multiple games kicked off. He explained that trading pass rusher LJ Collier could be an option for the Seahawks. The 29th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft hasn’t been a factor along the defensive line in 2021 while only appearing in games against the Rams and Titans. “A former first-rounder, Collier has only been active for two games this season after collecting three sacks last year,” Rapoport said in an article from NFL Media. “The Seahawks have had discussions centered around Collier at various points this season and prior to it, and Collier is just 26. A fresh start may make sense for all sides, especially with plenty of...

Getty N'Keal Harry speaks during Patriots training camp in 2021. The Detroit Lions are pushing toward the 2021 NFL trade deadline which will come around on November 2, and while many see the team as obvious sellers, others believe the team could actually find a reason to make a purchase at the key position of wideout. If that is to be the case, what player makes the most sense for the Lions? Recently, Bleacher Report took a closer look at naming the ideal players for every team to target via trade before the deadline, and when it came to the Lions, New England Patriots’ wideout N’Keal Harry was the answer for writer Brent Sobleski. As for the reason why, as Sobleski said, Harry could get a bigger opportunity to show off his talents in a place like Detroit, who has a big need for wide receiving help given what’s played out in 2021 from an injury standpoint....
Princess Dianas Godson Prince Philippos of Greece Marries Wife Nina Flohr for Third Time in Athens Underwater: Values on dozens of U.S. malls slashed by more than 70% during pandemic © Provided by NBC Sports Replay Video SETTINGS OFF HD HQ SD LO Skip Ad Of the five quarterbacks taken in the first 15 picks of the 2021 draft, four have become their team’s starters. One has not. That one, of course, is 49ers quarterback Trey Lance. From the moment the 49ers moved from No. 12 to No. 3, the writing became sandblasted into the concrete. Jimmy Garoppolo would be traded or cut by the team, sooner or later. The time for saying “later” to Jimmy G has become later than sooner because, quite simply, Lance hasn’t shown that he’s the better option than Garoppolo. Think about that one for a second. The 49ers invested the 12th overall pick, two more first-round picks, and a third-round pick in a quarterback who has been, to date, unable to prove that he’s the better option than a middle-of-the-pack quarterback who can’t...
Getty Rashaad Penny will return for the Monday night game against the Saints. The Seattle Seahawks are dealing with multiple injuries at the running back position, but one player is back and ready to contribute. Former first-round pick Rashaad Penny has returned from Injured Reserve, and he says that he is ready to go against the New Orleans Saints. Penny met with members of the media on Friday, October 22, after his return from Injured Reserve. He explained that he hasn’t let the injuries get him down mentally. Penny added that he is “mentally stronger” now and that he can better grasp the offense as the NFL gets slower. Though he noted that he has to remain healthy and avoid further injuries. “It’s just all about me being available,” Penny said during an October 22 media availability. “That’s the two biggest things I’ve been preaching the whole offseason, is being available and being consistent. You have that type of career. I feel like it’s just a slow start for me. I’m still young. I’m fresh. I’m ready to...

Since defeating the New England Patriots in week one, Miami has lost five in a row heading into their Week 7 meeting against the Atlanta Falcons. Celebrity Kids Halloween Costumes of 2021 What I Wish I Knew Before Buying My First Home © Quinn Harris-USA TODAY Sports Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff will make his return to L.A. this weekend. Reports surfaced back in January that the relationship between Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay and quarterback Jared Goff was "not great," and the Rams ultimately shipped Goff to the Detroit Lions in a trade that landed Los Angeles signal-caller Matthew Stafford in return.  While Stafford and the Rams are 5-1, Goff and the Lions began the regular season with six straight defeats ahead of this Sunday's matchup between those two teams in Los Angeles. According to Lindsey Thiry of ESPN, McVay admitted earlier this week he wished "there was better, clearer communication" between everyone involved ahead of the trade. Per Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk, Goff spoke during his Wednesday press conference about returning to face the Rams in Week 7.  "It’ll be fun to see all those people and it’ll be fun to be there and of course...
Eye-opening moment: City leaders, police departments push back over impending COVID vaccine mandates Jan. 6 committee recommends holding Bannon in contempt The Jacksonville Jaguars earned their first victory of the season and first under head coach Urban Meyer when they toppled the Miami Dolphins at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London this past Sunday. Meyer later compared that result to winning college football national titles, but Jacksonville defensive end Dawuane Smoot had an even better experience during the team's bye week.  © Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports According to Michael DiRocco of ESPN, Smoot helped his wife deliver their second child early Tuesday morning inside of their home. Aumari, Smoot's wife, fell as the two were preparing to leave for the hospital around 4 a.m. local time, and the lineman responded by calling 911. Paramedics talked him through the process until daughter Ahlani Moon Smoot was born safely in the couple's living room.  Smoot first entered the NFL when Jacksonville drafted him in the third round in 2017, and the 26-year-old has only played for that organization. He’s the first of New York’s confirmed two-way contracts for next season, meaning they’ve got one remaining to offer. But the Knicks’ center rotation is growing very crowded, very quickly, leading speculation as to the motive behind Samanic’s signing on both ends. Especially now that starter Mitchell Robinson made his return to the NBA...
Getty Former New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold stands in the way as an injury setback could benefit Gang Green. Last week, the New York Jets received helpful news when the Seattle Seahawks announced that quarterback Russell Wilson would hit the injured reserve. You see, the Jets have an extra first-round pick in 2022 and its significance is directly correlated to the Seahawks record. With Geno Smith starting at quarterback instead of the seven-time Pro Bowler, the chances of that becoming a top 15 selection increased.
