    Police arrested 27-year-old Santiago Salcedo and charged him with kidnapping, unlawful imprisonment, and other charges. They said that Salcedo does not speak English and they are working with a translator to investigate the incident. The suspect has no criminal record in New York City The mother of the children did not want to be identified but she told WCBS that they lived only about a mile away from the site of the incident. She said that the grandmother was walking the children home from the park. The mother went on to say that although the family was traumatized by the incident, she was thankful for the onlookers who willing to help a stranger in distress. "There was literally a couple of people who chased the guy and helped us with police, so I'd like to thank them," the mother said. The little girl was not injured.     A California mom dragged her eight year-old daughter behind her SUV after the little girl tried to stop her driving drunk, police say.    Erin Garcia, 44, got into her car drunk around 11.30pm and her daughter followed, concerned that her mother was too inebriated to drive, it is alleged.  'The child grabbed the passenger's door handle and told Garcia to stop,' the statement from the Placentia Police Department read.  'Garcia looked at the child and proceeded to drive away,' it added, noting that she dragged her daughter alongside the car for about 300 feet, before stopping thanks to an onlooker who decided to intervene.     An Ohio mother has admitted to abandoning her three young children in a park and killing her six-year-old son when he desperately tried to get back in her car and was dragged to his death as she drove away.   Brittany Gosney, 29, of Middletown, Ohio, pleaded guilty to two counts of endangering children and one count of unclassified murder on Monday.  Prosecutors said the mother of four brought three of her children to a park in Preble County on February 26 with the intention of abandoning them.   As she sped away from the kids her six-year-old son, James Hutchinson, grabbed for the car door handle and fell, suffering a fatal blow to the head.  Gosney returned to the park 40 minutes later to find the boy dead.     A New York City man who tried to snatch a five-year-old boy from the street appeared before a judge on Friday to face attempted kidnapping charges.  James McGonagle, 24, was charged with attempted kidnapping in the second degree and endangering the welfare of a child following the July 15 incident. The child, Jacob Lopez Diaz, was walking with his family at 8pm when he was grabbed and shoved into McGonagle's car. His nine-year-old brother, Benny, pleaded with McGonagle to give him back, allowing his mother, Dolores Diaz Lopez, 45, pull him out of the car through a window. 'In a brazen fashion, the defendant grabbed the little boy, who was just a few steps from his mother, and allegedly tried to kidnap him,' said Melinda Katz, Queens district attorney.  James McGonagle, 24, appeared in Queens Supreme Court on Friday to face two counts related to the July 15 attempted kidnapping.     An Asian woman underwent brain surgery on Saturday after she and her son were dragged down the subway stairs during a bungled robbery in New York City. The unnamed woman, 58, was with her 23-year-old son on Saturday. They were walking up the steps at Canal Street station at around 10:45am when an assailant attacked them from behind, grabbing the son's backpack. The son grabbed his mother as he fell, and the pair tumbled down the stairs. He was not seriously hurt, but his mother hit her head and was critically injured.     The NYPD has released disturbing surveillance video showing a man brazenly snatching a five-year-old boy off the street in Queens, before the child's mother comes to the rescue and pulls him from the suspect's car.  The incident took place at around 8pm on Thursday in front of 117-02 Hillside Avenue in the Richmond Hill neighborhood. According to the police, a 45-year-old mother was walking with several children along the sidewalk when a maroon sedan pulled up beside them.  Surveillance video from the scene shows a man in a white T-shirt and grey shorts jump out of the car, scoop up the five-year-old boy and place him in the backseat of the vehicle.  The kidnapping victim's mother rushes toward the car and, after a brief struggle, pulls her son through the front passenger window.     An 11-year-old girl who fought off a knife-wielding man trying to abduct her at a Florida bus stop managed to cover him in the blue slime she was playing with to help police track him down after watching episodes of Law & Order. Alyssa Bonal was playing with the slime while waiting for her school bus in Pensacola on Tuesday morning when she spotted a man - later identified as 30-year-old Jared Paul Stanga - running towards her with a knife.  Surveillance video of the terrifying ordeal showed Alyssa fighting off her attacker after he jumped out of a white vehicle and put her in a headlock. They both fell to the ground as Stanga tried to drag Alyssa towards his van.     Kaitlyn Renee Higgins was arrested on Tuesday after she allegedly admitted to shooting and killing her 10-year-old son A Kentucky mother allegedly admitted to shooting dead her 10-year-old son and stuffing his body in the trunk of her car after trying to cut out his tongue.   Kaitlyn Renee Higgins, 28, was arrested on Tuesday in Louisville and charged with the murder of her son Kyon Higgins Jr.  Officers with the Louisville Metro Police Department were dispatched to Higgins' home after receiving a call from a neighbor who said she saw the mother with a gun and the boy who appeared lifeless wrapped in a blanket, according to an arrest report.   When the officers arrived at about 9.30pm they found Higgins sitting on the porch of her home on Algonquin Parkway and noticed blood on the steps. Believing someone was in immediate danger, they opened the trunk of Higgins' car and found Kyon's body.
