CHICAGO (AP) — Quarterback Andy Dalton knew the Chicago Bears had little margin for error going against the team with the NFL’s best record. The Bears weren’t even close to playing error-free football as four interceptions set up Arizona for four easy scores, and the NFC West-leading Cardinals emerged with a 33-22 victory on Sunday. “You can’t turn the ball over is what it comes down to,” said Dalton, who matched a career high with four interceptions. “We moved the ball really well today at times and we’ve just got to do that more consistently. “We can’t give them more opportunities and give them short fields.” The first three interceptions came on passes that deflected off a receiver’s hands or a defender’s, and the last was a screen pass Dalton took full responsibility for after throwing it directly to defensive lineman Zach Allen. “The thing that’s unfortunate in this league is tipped balls usually don’t find the ground,” Dalton said. “They usually find the other hands. You saw it three times.” Kyler Murray and the Cardinals (10-2) had to drive...
Chicago Bears quarterback Andy Dalton threw an all-time terrible interception Sunday against the Cardinals. During the fourth quarter of the game with the Bears trailing 27-14, Dalton threw an interception cleanly into the hands of Zach Allen, who was literally only a few feet away from him. It looked like he was attempting to throw a screen pass, but he blew it so badly that I’m honestly not even sure. I don’t know what the hell the Bears think Dalton is capable of at this point, but...
CHICAGO -- Quarterback Andy Dalton will be making his second straight start Sunday for the Chicago Bears as a result of Justin Fields' broken ribs. The Bears face the Arizona Cardinals at noon Sunday at Soldier Field, and on Friday coach Matt Nagy said Fields' health improved, but not enough to play. Fields is doubtful for the game."Justin is making good progress, just not there medically for the clearance," Nagy said.Nick Foles will be the backup quarterback behind Dalton. Nagy is hopeful Fields can return soon."I think progress is definitely the good word for him," Nagy said. "Being able to get out there in practice and throw the ball around and get used to doing the common stuff that you do, and now the biggest thing for him is just going to being able to understand, probably more than anything, just the pain management of how things feel."We're obviously not going to go out there and hit him while he's running around in practice and see. Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields is not expected to return from his ribs injury Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals, but one of his fellow rookies could potentially see his first NFL game action. Bears coach Matt Nagy named quarterback Andy Dalton the starter and Nick Foles the backup for the Week 13 game at Soldier Field, saying Fields is making progress but wasn’t ready to be medically cleared to play. Meanwhile, the Bears have cleared rookie offensive tackle Teven Jenkins to be activated 3½ months after he underwent back surgery. Jenkins, the No. 39 draft pick out of Oklahoma State in the spring, returned to practice Nov. 15 and is feeling good, Nagy said. Nagy indicated Jenkins — for now — will be offensive line depth behind veteran left tackle Jason Peters and rookie right tackle Larry Borom, but he also could be used on the field-goal/extra-points team or in special situations. Nagy said a rotation with Borom midseason might be too difficult to execute. “When you draft a guy you’re always anticipating how he’s going...

CHICAGO (CBS) — With rookie Justin Fields still nursing injured ribs, Andy Dalton will get the start at quarterback on Thursday when the Bears visit the Lions on Thanksgiving Day. Head coach Matt Nagy confirmed Tuesday Dalton will get the start on Thursday, while Fields most likel will be inactive. That would make Nick Foles the backup against the Lions. READ MORE: Ring Video Shows Waukesha Christmas Parade Suspect Darrell Brooks Pleading For Help, Getting ArrestedNagy said he hopes Fields will be healthy enough to return as the starter for their Week 13 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals on Dec. 5. “We’ve just got to see where his ribs are at. I think it’s day-by-day. He’s been doing pretty good, and we’ve just got to keep an eye on that,” Nagy said. Fields left Sunday’s game against the Ravens after injuring his ribs in the third quarter. The Bears (3-7) were hoping Fields would build on his best outing as a pro on Sunday against the Ravens. Instead, he struggled before heading to the locker room in the third quarter,...

For those Chicago Bears fans hanging on through this 3-7 season because they at least can watch rookie quarterback Justin Fields’ growth, Sunday’s 16-13 loss to the Baltimore Ravens was like taking a helmet to the gut. Fields missed most of the second half at Soldier Field after suffering injured ribs, and his status is in question for Thursday’s game against the Detroit Lions at Ford Field. Bears coach Matt Nagy was typically evasive with his answers about Fields’ injury after the game. He said he didn’t know if Fields’ ribs are broken, whether the injury happened on one play or was a result of several hits or if there is a chance Fields could recover in time for the Thanksgiving game. “We’ve just got to see where Justin is at,” Nagy said. “When you’re talking about ribs, you’ve got to find out how much it affects him. We as a staff have to talk through all that.” Fields’ friend Simeon Kelley posted an Instagram video of Fields lying down after the game and said...
Justin Fields makes his way to the locker room after being evaluated by Chicago Bears personnel in the sideline medical tent.  The Chicago Bears continue to fail Justin Fields and it appears it has finally caught up to Fields physically. During the Bears games against the Baltimore Ravens, Fields was taken to the sideline tent to be examined by team trainers for a hip injury. After spending considerable time with the staff, Fields was walked back to the Bears’ locker room for further tests and evaluation. Jessica Dalton turns 33 Sunday, so she’s looking to run 33 miles on Saturday. (Courtesy Jessica Dalton) Jessica Dalton, of Allentown, Pennsylvania, loves to run the Marine Corps Marathon as a way to honor the military, which runs deep in her family. “My entire family has been serving in the military,” Dalton, 32, said on a Zoom call. “Both my grandfathers, my father, my aunt and my uncle have served.” Dalton still has the dress blues her grandfather earned while serving in World War II, and has thumbed through the diary he kept while serving overseas — including when he stormed the beach in Normandy, France. The writing isn’t the cleanest, and it’s not more than a line or two each day: The entry for June 6, 1944, says “d. day (This is it),” then something like “Left … early in the morning for France with American troops.” It’s hard to tell. The words on June 7 are even tougher to read, but say something to the effect of “not much enemy aircraft … lots of anti-aircraft fire.” He’s been...

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) — Bears coach Matt Nagy was not ready to say who the starting quarterback will be when Chicago hosts the Detroit Lions on Sunday. Veteran Andy Dalton remains the No. 1 signal-caller, with rookie Justin Fields backing him up and Nick Foles in the third spot, Nagy said Wednesday. But as for who will start this week? Nagy said that “will be sorted out once we have a clearer picture” on the health of his top two quarterbacks. Both were expected to practice Wednesday in some capacity. Nagy would not say, either, if he will continue to call plays on offense. The Bears delivered one of the worst performances ever on that side of the ball by an NFL team in a 26-6 loss at Cleveland last week. They had just 47 yards, the ninth-lowest total in league history and the second lowest for the charter franchise. (CBSDFW.com)- Andy Dalton’s injury during Sunday’s game against the Washington Football Team meant the Cowboys were down to their third string quarterback: rookie Ben DiNucci. The 23-year-old finished out Sunday’s game taking three sacks, fumbling twice (both recovered by Dallas) and completing two of his three passes for 39 yards. Now, with Dalton in the league’s concussion protocol, it appears he is in line to be the starter this week for the team’s primetime matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.
