LONDON (AP) — London finally honored the late Princess Diana Wednesday with a blue plaque at the place she called home in the two years before she married Prince Charles and her life in the goldfish bowl began. For Diana, 60 Coleherne Court, an apartment near London’s fashionable King’s Road, was the start of a new adventure. Settling in the capital on reaching her 18th birthday, Diana shared the apartment with a number of friends from 1979 to 1981. It was there that she first started to court Charles. One of her roommates then, Virginia Clarke, helped unveil the English Heritage plaque during Wednesday’s ceremony. “Those were happy days for all of us and the flat was always full of laughter,” she said. “Diana went off to become so much to so many. It’s wonderful that her legacy will be remembered in this way.” According to Andrew Morton’s 1992 best-selling book “Diana, In Her Own Words,” Diana described her years at the property as “the happiest time” of her life. John Travolta is recalling the moment he was captivated by Princess Diana on a dance floor. The actor, 67, had the rare opportunity to waltz with the Princess of Wales back in 1985 at a White House state dinner hosted by then-President Ronald Reagan and first lady Nancy Reagan. Travolta, recalling the iconic memory, admitted he did have some jitters prior to approaching Diana. "I didn't expect to be asked to dance with her. I had the great privilege and honor to do so. And I thought: 'There must be a reason to do this and I better give it my all," Travolta recalled to Esquire Mexico. The BBC inquiry into Martin Bashir's 1995 interview with Princess Diana is scrutinising a handwritten letter from the royal which apparently showers the shamed journalist with praise. The note went missing for more than 20 years after an over-eager panorama staff member took it home as a valuable souvenir - but handed it in last month. Now, the BBC is using it as a tool to suggest that Diana never saw faked financial documents - commissioned by Mr Bashir - to convince her to speak on Panorama. In the first two parts of our serialisation of his new book, distinguished royal historian Robert Lacey revealed how Harry and Meghan's behaviour left the Royal Family 'hopping' mad, and Harry's fury when William asked his uncle, Earl Spencer, to suggest he slow down his marriage plans.  But, as today's extract reveals, the roots of the rift between the brothers actually took hold long before Meghan came on the scene... as did their own psychological pain, which began in early childhood... Back in 1992, both brothers had to cope with their parents' conflict going public, appearing in lurid detail on TV screens and newspaper front pages after the publication of Andrew Morton's explosive book, Her True Story — based largely on Diana's own taped testimony. It was a deliberate and aggressive exposure of the family's bad blood. The mother who felt sure she was so devoted to her children had months to think about the effect that her revelations might have on them. But she'd gone ahead anyway, disclosing how she had tried to commit suicide when she was three...
Dame Diana Rigg, of “James Bond” and “Avengers” fame, has died “peacefully” at 82. The acclaimed actress known for her role as Contessa Teresa di Vicenzo, the only Bond girl to ever marry 007, Rigg was bestowed her “Dame” title in 1994 for her contributions to drama. She suffered from cancer but died surrounded by her family Thursday morning, according to the Sun. Mastering both film and theater, Rigg earned BAFTA, Emmy, Tony and Evening Standards Awards in her long tenure on the stage and on the screen. Despite her extensive stage experience, Rigg was perhaps best-known for her star-making role in “The Avengers” in 1965. There’s hardly a male baby boomer alive whose heart didn’t beat faster at the sight of Emma Peel, her whip-smart, cat-suited character in the mod espionage romp. “It was a bit frightening,” Rigg, who was in her mid-20s at the time, told The Post in 20189. “Bear in mind, it was 50 years ago. I didn’t know quite what to do with that degree of lust. I’d been in London to drama school...
