Getty Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy Coincidentally (or not), the Dallas Cowboys waived Bradlee Anae two days after the second-year defensive end committed a “bad” penalty against the Minnesota Vikings. The infraction may have cost Anae his job, the official team website speculated Tuesday in announcing the roster move. Anae drew a costly offside penalty in the second quarter of Sunday’s win against Minnesota. With the Vikings facing a 4th-and-5 from their own 30-yard line and punting, Anae jumped early and afforded the Minnesota offense a new opportunity. The Vikings would ultimately move the ball into range for a 45-yard field goal, extending their lead to 10-3. A fifth-round pick (No. 179 overall) of the 2020 NFL draft, Anae was held off the stat sheet and did not record a defensive snap in Sunday’s 20-16 victory over the Vikings. The 23-year-old posted two solo tackles across four appearances this season, working as a deep reserve behind DEs Randy Gregory and Tarell Basham. He received a public chiding from special teams coordinator John Fassel following the blunder. “Get the...

Dallas waived defensive end Bradlee Anae. The 2020 fifth-round draft pick appeared in four games this season, seeing action on 50 defensive snaps and 50 on special teams. Anae’s offsides penalty on a punt allowed Minnesota to keep the ball, and the Vikings got a field goal out of the drive. “Get the football, and that’s a bad penalty,” special teams coach John Fassel said, via Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News. “That’s a bad penalty. Fourth-and-five, and, you know, it’s just a bad penalty.” The Cowboys also placed rookie linebacker Jabril Cox on injured reserve. The fourth-round choice tore his ACL on Sunday. The Cowboys have three open spots on their 53-player roster. Receiver Michael Gallup is...
Dance with somebody: The ultimate Whitney Houston playlist 7 Strategies for Frugal Urban Living The NFL figured that everyone watching their product wanted more taunting penalties.  Never mind that nobody really was upset about them. Or that a 15-yard taunting call could significantly affect a game. That's what the NFL thought we all wanted, so it put an emphasis on calling more taunting penalties this season.  Nobody wanted that. The Philadelphia Eagles surely didn't on Thursday night either.  A controversial taunting call, right as the Eagles were getting back in the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, overshadowed an exciting fourth quarter. The Buccaneers held on to win 28-22 Thursday night, and the key play was an unnecessary penalty.  In the fourth quarter, after the Eagles cut the Buccaneers' lead to six points, Eagles defensive end Genard Avery tackled Leeonard Fournette, then got up and said something to him. It was fairly innocuous. Football is a passionate sport. Nobody at home was offended. Fournette likely wasn't either.  Flag. 15 yards. All momentum gone. The game changed. Football fans wondering...

And Blues fans are far from impressed to find out the Englishman will referee the game. 2Taylor sent James off for a handball on the goal lineCredit: GETTY IMAGES Chelsea are making a short trip to face league newcomers Brentford, who have got off to a flying start. The Bees have impressively taken ten points from Arsenal, West Ham, Wolves and Liverpool. On ABC’s “This Week” roundtable, former Democratic National Committee chair Donna Brazile said the Texas abortion law was a “war on women.” Anchor George Stephanopoulos said, “I think you’re still a resident of Louisiana, at least part-time. We heard Senator Bill Cassidy say the Democrats are overreacting in hysterics. Brazile said, “We’re overreacting in terms of the storm?” Stephanopoulos said, “No in terms of the Texas abortion ban.” Brazile said, “No way. No way. I want to thank Senator Cassidy for his leadership. As well as Cedric Richmond and the federal government. It is true that most people are still without power. Most people are still looking for gasoline and food. The truth is that the government is there helping people get back on their feet. It’s going to be a long time. No, George, when the penalty for having an abortion after being raped is more severe than the penalty for rape, you know it’s a war on women. This is bad. Bad news for women. Bad news for Texas women. Bad news for low-income and minority women. Simply...
The Cadiz CF tore a valuable draw from Benito Villamarin in their fight for permanence, while 1-1 is little to no avail of the Verdiblancos, who stumbled on the return of the public to the stadium and were not able to completely turn around the early goal of the Cadistas. The first part was very entertaining, with a Real Betis bossy in the game (at times 80% possession) and a Cadiz CF who was patiently waiting for his opportunity to go against it or take advantage of any mistake made by the locals. Victor Ruiz He committed a rude one at 7 ‘, he let himself be stolen by the Choco lozano and forced his partner Rui Silva to commit a penalty to avoid the 0-1. The maximum penalty was arrested in the first instance by the Portuguese to Negredo, but VAR He warned that he had gone ahead and in the repetition of the pitch, the Vallecano striker was able to celebrate his 36th birthday in style by putting Cadiz with an advantage on the scoreboard. BOSTON (CBS) — NHL referee Tim Peel was caught on a live microphone on Tuesday night, admitting that the penalty he had called had more to do with him wanting to call a penalty than it did with him actually seeing a penalty being committed. Hours later, Peel has been removed from his job. READ MORE: James White Expected To Re-Sign With Patriots Though the NHL softened its language and did not use the term “fired,” the league made it clear that Peel has refereed his final game in the NHL. According to the official NHL announcement, Peel will “no longer will be working NHL games now or in the future.” “Nothing is more important than ensuring the integrity of our game,” NHL senior executive VP of hockey operations Colin Campbell said. “Tim Peel’s conduct is in direct contradiction to the adherence to that cornerstone principle that we demand of our officials and that our fans, players, coaches and all those associated with our game expect and deserve. There is no justification for his comments, no matter the context or...
FUMING Jose Mourinho has slammed referee Michael Oliver after Arsenal's controversial match-winning penalty. The Portuguese boss joked only 'big Arsenal fans' would believe the Gunners should have been awarded the spot-kick. 3Jose Mourinho was far from impressed with the penalty decisionCredit: Getty Images - Getty With the game tied at 1-1, Davinson Sanchez was adjudged to have fouled Alexandre Lacazette in the 64th minute. The Frenchman scuffed his effort on goal before the Colombian dived across to block the strike. Lacazette buried the penalty but later admitted his side were 'lucky' to have been awarded the penalty. It went from bad to worse for Tottenham who had Erik Lamela sent off for two bookable offences. When quizzed on Mourinho's thoughts after the contest, he responded: "No post-match interviews for referees? That is a pity. "We played really bad in the first half. The 1-1 was not a fair reflection of the first-half. We were poor. Defending bad. No intensity or pressing. "Some important players hiding. Really bad. In the second half we only had space to...
Dembélé resolved the duel against Cornellà.Enric Fontcuberta / . Dembélé got Barça out of a major hurry. The Frenchman bent Ramón Juan’s hands in extra time, the third for the Barça team in eight days, after an exercise in sterility never seen before because the Barça players missed up to two penalties, both rejected by the Cornellà goal, the hero of the night and, at 21, a symbol of the Baix Llobregat club. Ramón Juan’s saves left Barcelona as exposed as Atlético and Madrid in their day. There was no way to defeat the goal in a game in which Barça’s life was going, distanced in the League, badly standing in the Champions League, defeated in the Super Cup and surviving in the Cup due to Dembélé’s rebellion. The Frenchman avoided collective derision and redeemed himself individually after missing a penalty that reflected Cornellà’s match. He shot to the center and Ramón Juan rejected the ball with his right foot, barely moving, just as decisive as in the previous maximum penalty against Pjanic. The goalkeeper repeatedly denied an erratic Barça,...

Getty Koeman watches Barcelona in Clasico action Ronald Koeman has come in for criticism after his first Clasico in charge of Barcelona ended in a 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid at the Camp Nou. Second-half goals from Sergio Ramos and Luka Modric handed the bragging rights to Los Blancos and means Barcelona has now lost two of their first five La Liga matches in 2020-21. Koeman surprised supporters by including three teenagers, Sergino Dest, Pedri, and Ansu Fati, in his starting XI. However, his decision to wait until the 81st minute to introduce substitutes as his team chased the game at 2-1 down frustrated fans and commentators alike. Shame a soft penalty proved so important but that was a big fail for Koeman. Midfield balance wasn't working but changes came far too late and weren't right when they came. Real Madrid far from perfect but a step or two ahead of Barça. — Andy West (@andywest01) October 24, 2020 Koeman evidently has no vision for Barça's midfield and it's completely unacceptable. This is absurdly bad management. —...
The Jets’ 2020 season began with a penalty. Because of course it did. On the first play of Sunday’s season opener against the Bills at Bills Stadium — the opening kickoff with the Jets receiving — backup tight end Daniel Brown was called for illegal use of hands. That left Sam Darnold starting his first offensive series from his own 9-yard line. Bad start. As it turned out, it was only the beginning in an embarrassing, sloppy 27-17 loss to the Bills that wasn’t as close as the score indicated. The penalty parade rolled on, with the Jets finishing with nine penalties for 95 yards — many of them damaging because they came at critical moments. “We’ve got to figure out what we’ve got to fix in that area,’’ coach Adam Gase said. “I’ve got to go back and watch this. It seemed like a lot of things that occurred in this game that were preventable for us, for sure. There’s just so much for us to clean up. It was a rough game. We’ve got to get a lot...
Distribution of points at the Camp Nou that tastes like a half league loss for the Barca. This new culé tie could leave the Real Madrid 4 points away in case of victory. Bad day to be a Barça player, especially because lost the ACB League final to Baskonia. Barça and Atlético de Madrid tied (2-2) in a highly contested match where Quique Setién’s men have been ahead on the scoreboard up to two times, but two penalty goals have allowed the mattresses to scratch a cruel tie, which complicates the league for the Catalans. The game began with a fast pace, with occasions for both teams. And the goals were not long in coming. At 11 minutes into the game, the Catalans were ahead of a corner exit: center of Messi who plays in Diego Costa and ends at the bottom of the net (1-0). Still, the mattress makers reacted quickly and managed to equalize from the penalty spot, after Vidal committed a penalty on Carrasco. Costa has been in charge of launching it and Ter Stegen, with...
