NEWTON, Mass. (AP) — A tiny home in a wealthy Boston suburb has sold after about a month on the market, albeit for far less than the original asking price of almost $450,000. The roughly 250-square-foot (23-square-meter) home in Newton sold on Monday for $315,000, according to Coldwell Banker Realty’s Hans Brings Results agency. The home, on a 0.06-acre lot (0.02 hectares), went on the market in late September. The house built in 1970 is described as an “adorable tiny studio home … featuring completely open living space,” with a loft and “ready to finish basement,” and recent renovations including a new bathroom and electrical upgrades. Several unusual homes in the Boston area’s hot real estate market have sold for high prices in the past several months. Boston’s famous 10-foot-wide Skinny House sold in September for $1.25 million, and a home gutted by fire in Melrose sold for nearly $400,000. Copyright © 2021 The Associated Press. BOSTON (CBS) – It’s that time of year – college students are moving back to Boston, ready to kick off another school year. But for those living off campus, they’re facing a difficult housing market. Rent in Boston has jumped back to a pre-pandemic level, which is giving students a run for their money. READ MORE: New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu Isolating, Getting Tested For COVID The days of remote learning are over, and the day dubbed “Allston Christmas” due to the free items left on the sidewalk has returned. “This is my first move in Boston so I was not prepared for the chaos that the city would bring,” said Celine Winn. But real estate experts say the rental market in Boston has surpassed the level it was at prior to the COVID pandemic. “I mean last year the city was a ghost town, students weren’t coming back,” said Randy Horn of Compass Real Estate. “This year with everyone coming back, the rents have rebounded and increased in some places where you’re having multiple bidding situation for the top...
BOSTON (AP) — Boston’s famous Skinny House is on sale again for a whopping $1.2 million. The vertically rectangular-shaped house was listed Monday, the first time it’s been on the market since 2017. Four years ago, it was sold for $900,000, The Boston Globe reported. The home, located in Boston’s North End, is about 1,165 square feet (108 square meters). But more interestingly, the house is barely 10 feet (3 meters) wide at its widest point. The humble abode narrows in the back, ending at 9.25 feet (2.8 meters). There are four stories in the home and a private deck that displays views of the Boston Harbor. Also, the house offers updated appliances, hardwood floors and exposed brick, and a Juliet balcony facing private gardens. The home does not have a front door. Guests enter through a private side door and they’re met with a somewhat full-sized kitchen and dinning room. The second floor holds the living area and the house’s only bathroom. The third level has a living space and a bedroom. Lastly, the upper level of the house...

In this article PEP SAM The Boston Beer Company and PepsiCo today announced plans to enter a business collaboration to produce HARD MTN DEW alcoholic beverage.Source: Boston Beer CompanyPepsiCo and Sam Adams brewer Boston Beer are teaming up to create an alcoholic version of Mountain Dew. Boston Beer will develop and produce the drink, called Hard Mtn Dew, while Pepsi has created a new entity to sell, deliver and market the product. The beverage is expected to hit shelves in early 2022. Hard Mtn Dew will belong to the flavored malt beverage category and contain 5% alcohol by volume. Early images of the products also show that it will contain zero sugar. The first hint that Pepsi could enter the alcohol category came in October, when Pepsi CEO Ramon Laguarta told analysts the company would consider the move. It followed an announcement from rival Coca-Cola that it would create Topo Chico Hard Seltzer, its first alcoholic beverage for U.S. consumers in decades, through a partnership with Molson Coors Beverage. BOSTON (CBS) – Several people have been arrested in a series of robberies near Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, Boston Police said Friday. Earlier this week, investigators said there have been seven muggings in the past five weeks in the area. They were described as “aggravated assaults” where cell phones, money or wallets were stolen. The suspects were arrested Thursday night and are expected in court Friday. No other information is available at this point in the investigation.
New York (CNN Business)The once unstoppable growth of hard seltzer has gone flat. That warning is coming from Boston Beer, the creator of Truly Hard Seltzer, which said that popularity of the low-calorie drink has faded.Boston Beer (SAM)founder Jim Koch said that the "hard seltzer category and overall beer industry were softer than we had anticipated." He added that the seemingly endless arrival of new seltzer brands is causing "consumer confusion" and fewer people are trying the once-hot beverage. The company's second-quarter earnings, announced late Thursday, came in below analysts' expectations and shares fell nearly 20% in premarket trading. Boston Beer has regularly beat analysts' earnings expectations in recent years because of Truly's sales strength, so the weak earnings came as a bit of a shock. CEO Dave Burwick said in a statement that the company "overestimated the growth of the hard seltzer category in the second quarter and the demand for Truly, which negatively impacted our volume and earnings for the quarter and our estimates for the remainder of the year." Getty Marcus Smart #36 of the Boston Celtics drives past Darius Bazley #7 of the Oklahoma City Thunder for a layup during a game at TD Garden. The Boston Celtics are in the midst of quite the shake-up. Which likely means roster changes will shortly be underway as new president of basketball operations Brad Stevens looks to put his personal touches on a team coming off a first-round exit and their worst record in six years. Two names that will likely be readily brought up in trade talks this summer are Jaylen Brown and Kemba Walker. Yet, neither are expected to actually be moved — Brown due to his upside and standing within the organization, and Walker because of his injuries, age and massive salary. Getty The NBA Buyout deadline is fast-approaching. Every time it looks as if the Boston Celtics may be finally turning the corner, they hit another roadblock. Tuesday night was no different, as the Philadelphia 76ers toyed with the Cs for much of the game, en route to a 10-point victory over the Cs. The loss ended a two-game win streak for Boston and dropped their record back under .500. To make matters worse, Evan Fournier, their prized acquisition at the trade deadline, was placed in health and safety protocols and is expected to miss at least the next week of play. Fournier may not be the most dominant defender in the world, but his size (6-foot-7-inches) and his shooting prowess (career 37.7% shooter from 3-point range) make him one of Boston’s better three-and-D options — albeit that may not be saying much, as Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley highlighted. “The next modern NBA team that isn’t in need of three-and-D wings will be the first,” Buckley wrote. “If that team did exist, it certainly wouldn’t be Boston. While the Celtics...
BOSTON (CBS) – For the first time in a long time, it’s good to be a renter in Boston and surrounding cities. CEO of Boston Pads Demetrios Salpoglou said, “In theory for certain apartments you could put down as little as moving in with one month’s rent to get in and that’s historically unheard of in Boston.” READ MORE: Most Elementary Schools In Massachusetts Return To Full-Time, In-Person Learning Over the last year, the rental market has been greatly affected by the pandemic. “Any place you had a high student population or a high concentration of corporate relocation, short term rentals, Airbnbs, a lot of that was decimated,” said Salpoglou. That’s contributed to incentives for tenants, like free months of rent, price reductions, and no broker’s fee. Gabriel Bonilla is an agent with Douglas Paul Real Estate in Cambridge. “Normally it will be rent times three plus a broker’s fee to move in to a unit to get a lease signed. In this article RDFNVIDEO3:1203:12People desperate for homes during spring seasonWorldwide ExchangeCompetition in this spring's housing market is hotter than ever, thanks to high demand and record low supply. Selling a home has likely never been easier, and while that may sound like great news for real estate agents, there is a problem: They are desperate to find listings. "Frankly, this is not the time for amateurs," said Dana Bull, a Boston area real estate agent. "This is the big leagues here." Bull has been in the real estate business for over a decade and has never seen it so lean. It's not just Boston; nationally there are about half as many homes listed for sale right now without contracts on them as there were a year ago, according to realtor.com. The typical home is also now selling a week faster than last year. By the numbers, there are now about twice as many working real estate agents as there are listings. Teague had spent the entire season with the Boston Celtics up until the trade deadline. However, Boston included Teague in their deal for Evan Fournier and the rebuilding Magic saw no reason to keep Teague, so they waived him. Now he'll have another shot with a contender as he joins a Bucks team in need of a backup point guard.  © Provided by CBS Sports Milwaukee traded its original backup point guard, D.J. BOSTON (AP) — A Massachusetts woman noticed something strange about the “For Sale” sign outside a home in her neighborhood. On top of the sign with the name of the broker and their contact information was a sign with the words “Not Haunted” in big red letters. “This just went up around the corner and I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS,” Margot Bloomstein wrote in a tweet this week that included an image of the sign, The Boston Globe reported Thursday. The house is west of Boston but Bloomstein didn’t want to say exactly where to respect the homeowner’s privacy, she said. But she reached out to the real estate agency to learn more about the sign. They knew nothing about it either. The consensus is that the sign is a prank — maybe played by a ghost with a sense of humor. Copyright © 2021 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. BOSTON (CBS) — If LaMarcus Aldridge ends up on the buyout market, the Boston Celtics will reportedly be among the teams interesting in adding the veteran big man. The Spurs will look to find a new home for the 35-year-old Aldridge on the trade front over the next 10 days, but the 35-year-old isn’t expected to garner much attention. He’ll likely end up getting bought out by San Antonio in the coming weeks, and become free to sign with whomever he chooses. The Celtics stayed put with the No. 14 pick from Memphis, a product of their 2015 trade that sent Jeff Green to the Grizzlies. Boston had higher hopes for the pick in recent years, with the Grizzlies struggling as an organization. The pick was protected for the Top 8 last year when Memphis won the No. 2 pick and chose guard Ja Morant. The pick was protected for the Top 6 this year but with the Grizzlies’ surprisingly strong season, the Celtics had almost no chance of moving up without losing the pick altogether. BOSTON (AP) — Faneuil Hall Marketplace, one of Boston's most popular tourist destinations, is reopening to the public on Wednesday with a pair of special performances by the facility's favorite street musicians. The market, which includes several buildings of retail outlets and restaurants and lined with cobblestone walkways, was closed in March because of the coronavirus pandemic. Guitarist and singer Ryan LaPerle is scheduled to perform in the South Market and Violin Viiv is expected to perform in the West End of the Marketplace, according to a statement from management. The reopening includes the Quincy Market, with its large variety of food options to satisfy any taste, and dozens of pushcart merchants selling gifts, souvenirs, T-shirts and other items. A Pennsylvania Boston Market employee called the police on a customer's 10-year-old autistic child on Wednesday, because he wasn't wearing a coronavirus face mask. Nadina Newsman entered the Jenkintown restaurant location with her son Colin, who in addition to his autism also suffers from Down Syndrome and is non-verbal, according to ABC 6. Newsman said she went to pick up dinner for her family, when her car broke down. She said she donned a mask but, because of the hot weather, allowed her son to go without one. "It was 91 degrees outside, Colin wasn't feeling well, we needed to go inside so Colin could cool off," she told ABC 6. "So I asked her [the employee] if we could sit there for about 15 minutes until our ride came and she said 'I have to call the owner.'" Newsman claimed the employee called the owner, who reportedly said the pair still needed to exit the premises because they weren't following government guidelines. "I found it shocking that the girl working at Boston Market didn't understand that and didn't have the proper training, the proper information and nor...
