During the NBA's opening night, Commissioner Adam Silver said that Irving should get vaccinated "first and foremost for himself and his family." “Next, for his teammates and his community and also for the league that I know he cares so much about," he added, saying that the vaccine was a scientific "miracle." “Science is firmly on the side of getting vaccinated," he insisted. "And this is in essence, a miracle vaccine. ... It's already saved tens of millions of lives. I think, at some point, for Kyrie to be an engaged member of society — putting aside this league — he needs to get vaccinated. That's the law in New York: If you want to play in an arena, if you want to visit an arena, if you want to participate in an activity in an arena, you need to be vaccinated, and...

They have not been getting much of a return on their investment. Adams has struggled in coverage all season, and even in the one area where he has previously been effective — blitzing from the safety position — he’s been a non-factor so far this season. In Thursday night’s loss to the Rams, Adams got lost in the secondary and failed to make a play as Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford hit DeSean Jackson for a 68-yard catch. But Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said after the game that he doesn’t think it’s fair to blame any one player for the major issues facing Seattle’s defense. “Unfortunately on the big play he didn’t find his way to the ball,” Adams said. “They were very fortunate...

Celebrity Classmates Why vaccinations are opening in some states and not others On August 11, 2011, before he'd ever played an NBA game, Andre Drummondtweeted that one of his goals in life was to play with LeBron James. On Sunday, nearly a decade after that initial tweet, Drummond made that dream a reality by signing with James' Los Angeles Lakers. "To have the opportunity to come full circle and do it, it's crazy how time works," Drummond said at his introductory press conference Monday.  © Provided by CBS Sports The newest Laker was all smiles on his first official day as a Laker. Why wouldn't he be? Drummond, 27, has never played for a contender. He has appeared in only eight playoff games, all losses, and obviously hasn't ever made it past the first round. Now he's playing for the defending champions, and he's willing to do whatever it takes to fit into that new situation.  "For me, I'm just here to help in any capacity," Drummond explained. "I'm not here to do anything besides win." He went on...

Nebraska fans are having the exact kind of reaction you’d expect after Wisconsin canceled the game scheduled for Saturday. The Badgers had to cancel the game in Lincoln because of a serious coronavirus situation and 12 positive tests within the program. While I’m not happy about it, I understand it because I believe in beating the virus at all costs, and I would never encourage football to be played if it didn’t have to be. No matter what tweets you might see of mine going viral on Twitter, I promise you that this is now my stance (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football) Apparently, people in Nebraska don’t feel the same way. The Cornhuskers message boards are popping off with how we’re trying to avoid Nebraska (give me a break) and @HuskersSports posted a poll about whether not the game would happen if the roles were reversed. The poll has since been deleted, but not before I got a screenshot of it! Deleted Nebraska Poll (Credit: Screenshot/Twitter https://twitter.com/huskersports/) It’s sad, but I think we...
The Los Angeles Lakers can clinch the 2020 NBA title on Sunday night. They lead the series 3-2 and are still the favorites over the Miami Heat in the Finals. However, if it weren’t for a huge mistake by guard Danny Green late in Game 5, we might not have needed this matchup. The Lakers were down by just 1 point and had plenty of time to draw a quality play, Coach Frank Vogel entrusted the ball to LeBron James for the final possession, who was on fire the entire game. As expected, Bron delivered, drawing Heat defenders towards himself while driving towards the lane and kicked the ball out to a wide-open Green. Maybe it was the pressure of the moment or the fact that DG has been inconsistent throughout the Playoffs. He missed the shot, and it was over like that, the Lakers lost the game to the Heat as they survived to fight another day. Lakers’ Danny Green on that shot he missed at the end of Game 5: “I had more time than I realized, should...
Five-plus years into his NFL career, do we really know who Carson Wentz is yet? Is he the franchise quarterback the Eagles drafted him to be in 2016? Is he the quarterback who in his second season threw 33 touchdown passes and just seven interceptions while pointing the Eagles toward the Super Bowl with an 11-2 record as a starter before he wrecked his knee and unwittingly made Nick Foles a multimillionaire? Is he the quarterback who’s thrown 99 TD passes to just 39 INTs in his career to date? Or the quarterback who has a pedestrian 32-36 won-loss record as a starter, including 0-2 this season entering Sunday’s home game against the Bengals? Take out that 11-2 run in 2017 and Wentz is 21-34 as a starter. Those numbers do not scream the words “franchise quarterback,’’ and the natives in Philadelphia are becoming restless. Wentz is 50-of-85 for 512 yards, with two TDs, four INTs and a lost fumble in two games. He was 26-of-43 passing for 242 yards with no TDs and two INTs in last week’s loss...

I can’t put my finger on why, but after a while a lot of the cords on my electronics start to fray. Whether it’s a phone charger, or any charger really, an HDMI cable, or anything else, it inevitably happens. After maybe a year of use, the little rubber lining rips and exposed wires are all over the place. I try to power through it (no pun intended) most of the time, but that’s probably not a good idea or very safe. The only solution I was aware of was just giving in and buying a new cord — or so I thought. Enter: Sugru. Owning a packet of Sugru Moldable Glue is like having a secret superpower. Out of the packet, the glue feels like Play-Doh, soft and pliable, easily maneuvered. You can mold it by hand into any shape but don’t dawdle too much, once you take it out of the packet, you only have 30 minutes to spare before it begins to set. After about 12-24 hours (depending on how thick you’ve made it) the putty sets...
Dolly Parton says of course she supports BLM What we learned from US schools that have reopened Caddie Hops In Bunker to Play With Sand, Blows It for Golfer on Final Hole There are bad breaks on the golf course and then there's what happened to Segundo Oliva Pinto at the U.S. Amateur yesterday. All knotted up with Tyler Strafaci in match play, Pinto found the bunker at No. 18. Then his caddie, a local dude the golfer had no prior relationship with, inexplicably turned the high-stress situation into a day at the beach by climbing in and playing with the sand. © Provided by The Big Lead That's a no-no per rule 12.2b and we all know rule 10.3c states a player is responsible for his caddie's actions. Remember having to memorize the golf rule book in elementary school? It all came down to the 18th hole. And then this happened. The outcome? A 1 up win for Tyler Strafaci. #USAmateur pic.twitter.com/JFJcoSKfFQ— Golf Channel (@GolfChannel) August 14, 2020The sand enthusiast did not exactly cover himself in...
Event exceptions, school foggers, virtual state fair: News from around our 50 states Outdoor dining may save restaurants during COVID-19. But are diners at risk from cars plowing into them? Hes a linebacker: U.S. Amateur medalist Wilson Furr ready to tackle anything in way BANDON, Ore. – Wilson Furr woke up Tuesday morning already on high alert. Sure, he’d done his job at Bandon Dunes, carding an opening 2-under 70. But he still had 18 holes of stroke play left to secure his first match-play appearance in four U.S. Amateur starts, and he faced a blustery afternoon at Bandon Trails, a course that didn’t quite fit his eye. © Provided by Golf Channel “I was worried about this place,” Furr said. “I felt like it could come up and bite you.” Back in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Furr’s college coach, Jay Seawell, wasn’t nearly as concerned. He likens Furr to a linebacker, with an ability to tackle anything in his path. “He’s just got that extra competitive gene,” Seawell said. Which is why it was Furr, and not the golf course,...
The Ivy League has reportedly canceled fall sports. According to Jon Rothstein, the Ivy League has canned fall sports amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, and won’t “entertain any sports being played until after January 1st.” (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football) The move was widely-expected, and it’s believed an official decision on football in the spring will come at some point today. Sources: Ivy League programs have been informed that fall sports have been cancelled. The conference will not entertain any sports being played until after January 1st. Winter sports will have an update in mid-July on their respective practice schedules. — Jon Rothstein (@JonRothstein) July 8, 2020 We all knew this was coming. The writing has been on the wall for weeks with the Ivy League. There’s really no reason to panic here. Is it fun that the Ivy League pushed sport back and canceled them in the fall? Obviously not. It’s not ideal at all.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Yale Football (@yalefootball) on May 13,...
