New York Yankees: All the Yankees news in one place William Parlee October 18, 2021 Share on facebook Facebook Share on twitter Twitter Share on reddit Reddit The New York Yankees lost the wild card game to the rival Boston Red Sox and are sitting back watching other teams reach for their dreams, while they are still licking the wounds of another failed season, not advancing in the postseason. But baseball goes on for four teams. The Atlanta Braves lead the Lost Angeles Dodgers two games to none as they travel back to Los Angeles to play the next three games if necessary. The Houston Astros travel to Fenway Park where they are 1-1 in their seven-game contest with the Red Sox. Even with all this on-field action still going on, don’t think for a minute that the Yankee front office is dormant, it’s not. Although many of the players are back home watching games from their couches the front office is full steam ahead planning improvements for the upcoming 2022 season....
The New York Yankees need to clean house in the offseason Daniel Cunningham September 20, 2021 Share on facebook Facebook Share on twitter Twitter Share on reddit Reddit Heading into this last weekend, the New York Yankees were feeling pretty good. They had a dominant win on Friday night while the Blue Jays lost which put them a half game ahead for the second wild card spot. The Yankees had Luis Gil and Gerrit Cole scheduled to start over the weekend so you felt pretty good as a fan that they’d win the series. Well, The Indians, who have been no-hit three times in 2021 alone, scored 22 runs in two games. The powerful Yankees offense which flexed it’s muscles on Friday once again went cold and only mustered four runs total in those two games. Yes, that means that an under 500 club who has been no-hit three times outscored the Yankees 22-4 in two games over the weekend in the middle of a playoff race. This series with Cleveland...
New York Yankees Report Card: A look at players that could be impactful in the postseason William Parlee September 19, 2021 Share on facebook Facebook Share on twitter Twitter Share on reddit Reddit The New York Yankees have certainly had a roller coaster 2021 season. It’s actually a tale of two different teams when you look at the first half and the last half. If the Yankees don’t make the postseason, they can look back on the first half of the season as the primary reason why. The Yankees starting pitching other than ace Gerrit Cole was average, although the bullpen was stellar in the first half. The real culprit was the Yankees’ lineup itself. Outside of Aaron Judge trying to carry the team on his back, the rest of the lineup was awol for the most part. The games were boring as the Yankees seemed just to be going through the motions. Fans looked for who to blame, as no one seemed to be able to motivate the team. Then in two...
NEW YORK (AP) — Teresa Weatherspoon and Vickie Johnson stood next to each other for the photo of the inaugural 1997 New York Liberty team. Both played for storied Louisiana Tech and toiled overseas in dingy gyms before becoming the dynamic backcourt duo for the Liberty. They captivated crowds at Madison Square Garden and led the defensive-minded New York team, one of the original eight WNBA franchises, to the finals in three of its first four seasons. While New York didn’t win a championship, part of the Liberty’s legacy is their lasting impact on the sport. Flash forward nearly 25 years and several Liberty players from that era are still working in basketball as the WNBA celebrates its silver anniversary season. Weatherspoon and Becky Hammon are assistant coaches for the NBA’s New Orleans Pelicans and San Antonio Spurs, respectively. Johnson is the head coach for the WNBA’s Dallas Wings. “Those are my sisters for life,” said Weatherspoon, who was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2019. “We put in some work.” Kym Hampton and...

‘FIFA 22’ is just around the corner with a very interesting novelty: the engine HyperMotion. This technology promises a greater level of realism in the movements and movements of the players during the games thanks to the fact that EA analyzed the movement of “22 professional footballers playing at high intensity”. 11 players from Atlético Sanluqueño and 11 players from CD Gerena de Sevilla, to be exact. This is revealed by Electronic Arts in an interview with Wired. In it they explain that EA Sports equipped these players with Xsens suits and monitored the 90 minutes of the game in real time. He analyzed the obvious movements (passing, false protests for yellow cards, shots on goal …) and the not so obvious ones (like looking to the side when the player receives a pass) to create all the animations of the game. A most curious story, without a doubt: two teams from Group II of the RFEF First Division to cheer on the giant that will be ‘FIFA 22’. From Group II of the RFEF First Division to ‘FIFA 22’...
Cardinals’ star DeAndre Hopkins said he’s questioning his “future” in the NFL following a COVID-19 vaccine policy that holds teams financially responsible for unvaccinated players. “Never thought I would say this, but being put in a position to hurt my team because I don’t want to partake in the vaccine is making me question my future in the NFL,” the superstar wide receiver tweeted Thursday, in a since deleted tweet. The post was noted by Sports Illustrated. MIAMI GARDENS (CBSMiami) – Miami Dolphins training camp is just around the corner but this year, it’ll look and feel a lot different for both the players and the fans who come out to support the team. That’s because the Dolphins are training in a brand new, state-of-the-art training facility built right next to Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, instead of their old facility at Nova Southeastern University in Davie, their home for nearly the last three decades. READ MORE: Emilio Estefan Lends His Voice To Cuban Protests, Releases Libertad Music Video All of the top brass from the Dolphins organization was on hand Tuesday for the official ribbon cutting, including owner Steve Ross, head coach Brian Flores and even former legendary quarterback Dan Marino who still works with the team as a Special Advisor. Marino said the team’s training facility has come a long way over the years. “I was amazing. I mean think about the size of the weight room. New York Yankees: On of the most cherished rivalry in sports has been thrown under the bus William Parlee July 16, 2021 Share on facebook Facebook Share on twitter Twitter Share on reddit Reddit For New York Yankees fans, what could be more perfect than a hot, humid summer night at Yankee Stadium and the beginning of a four-game series between the long-standing rivalry of the Yankees and the Boston Red Sox? Nothing, it’s a baseball fan’s dream. But that dream may have been thrown under the bus, no players on the field, no fans in the stands, and no hot dogs sold. Not because the tarp was on the field, Not because thunderstorms were forecast, It was because the horrid coronavirus has not left us. Just like the Miami Marlins and the St. Louis  Cardinals last year lost games to the coronavirus, the Yankees have lost at least one game to the ugly virus. The Yankees had to postpone two games earlier in the season against the Phillies when 8 in the...
Epic Games The start of Fortnite Season 7 didn’t bring as many map changes are you might have expected, but that doesn’t mean the developers are going to be spending the rest of the season doing nothing. Instead, fans tweeted at Epic Games Vice President Mark Rein and asked him if there would be any new points of interest added later on this season. If you remember, he’s been summarizing the new seasons with one word and has become a bit known for that. This time around, he was asked to give a hint about new POIs, and, in true Mark Rein fashion, he delivered in the best way they could.*Insert Hint Here* thanks Mark, by any chance are you guys at EPIC planning to add any new POIs over the Season, at least give us a hint or something? — SimonCap (@kapp_cap) June 8, 2021 The Epic Games VP was asked to give a hint or “something,” so, of course, he had to take the easy way out. Major League Baseball, the players' union, and commissioner Rob Manfred have been named in a $1 billion lawsuit by a conservative business group over the recent decision to move the 2021 All-Star Game away from Atlanta in protest of Georgia's new voter laws. In its filing, which has been obtained by DailyMail.com, the Job Creators Network (JCN) says that unless Manfred's decision to relocate the annual July event is reversed, Atlanta-area businesses will suffer $100,000,000 in losses. Including punitive damages, the Plaintiffs are demanding $1 billion, which would be dispersed by the JCN under court supervision to those Atlanta-area businesses that have allegedly been hurt by the move. If the lawsuit succeeds, the league's 30 teams, and not the 1,200 players represented by the union, would be responsible for paying that $1 billion, JCN attorney Howard Kleinhendler explained to DailyMail.com in an email.  Spokespeople for Major League Baseball did not immediately return DailyMail.com's request for comment. FoxBusiness.com was the first to report on the lawsuit. Major League Baseball, the players' union, and commissioner Rob Manfred (pictured) have been named in a...
The New York Giants might’ve landed a steal in pass-rusher Elerson Smith Alexander Wilson May 9, 2021 ShareTweetFlipRedditWhen the New York Giants selected Northern Iowa standout defender Elerson Smith, most were surprised, even flabbergasted at the selection. The Giants desperately needed offensive line support after ranking 31st in pass-blocking efficiency in 2020. However, the Giants took a different approach this year, focusing on value and best player available. They ended up with Elerson, who entered college as a 190-pound pass rusher in desperate need of size and strength. Smith went on a physical journey to transform his body, adding 75 pounds of healthy weight to his frame, increasing his power and speed up the process. As a 6’7″, 255-pound defensive end, Smith projects as an outside linebacker in the 3-4 base scheme. He has the length to seal the edge but also the underrated speed and power to get after the quarterback. The Giants perilously needed more depth and starting level talent at the position, especially with Lorenzo Carter and Oshane Ximines going...

Hail of a mess Former reality TV star Duggar arrested, jailed in Arkansas Ratchet & Clank games always had their charm and alien worlds, but one thing keeps players coming back: weapons. The strange and unique weapons present in the Ratchet & Clank games are some of the most memorable, and it already seems like Rift Apart will be chock full of them. Thanks to today’s PlayStation State of Play trailer for the game, we have a much better idea of what weapons will be present. © Provided by GamePur What weapons do we already know about? A number of these weapons we’ve previously seen, namely the Topiary Sprinkler and the Burst Pistol. The former is a stationary turret that players can throw down. Once they’re out, they do all the work, wrapping enemies in lush topiary and damaging them. The Burst Pistol on the other hand was heavily featured in today’s trailer. With this tiny blaster, players can either pull the DualSense trigger halfway to fire small, controlled shots, or pull it all the way to let loose...

2 players the New York Giants should avoid in the 1st round of the NFL Draft By: Alexander Wilson April 20, 2021 ShareTweetFlipRedditThere are a few positions in the 2021 NFL draft that are considerably week. The New York Giants simply can’t reach on a player who won’t offer a significant impact on day one with the 11th overall pick. With an expected 4-5 quarterbacks to go in the first 10 picks, the Giants will have their choice at a bevy of elite options, so there are a few players in specific positional groupings that should be avoided at all costs. Two players the New York Giants should stay away from in the 2021 NFL Draft: 1.) EGDE Gregory Rousseau To start, Miami pass rusher Gregory Rousseau is the number one player on the list to avoid for the Giants at 11. Former NYG vice president Marc Ross seems to think the Giants will select him with the 11th overall pick, but based on his track record and being fired by the Giants...

Mark Cuban. Jim Davis/The Boston Globe/Getty Images Mavs owner Mark Cuban said the play-in tournament to determine the 7th and 8th seeds is a mistake. The Mavs are currently in 7th place and on track to play in the tournament. The play-in tournament allows for more teams to play more meaningful games late in the season. Visit Insider's homepage for more stories. If the NBA regular season ended today, the Dallas Mavericks would be the 7th seed in the Western Conference and play in the new playoffs play-in tournament. The play-in tournament will determine the final two spots in the playoffs in each conference. The 7th and 8th seeds will play each other first, with the winner clinching the 7th seed. The loser of the 7-8 matchup would then play the winner between the 9th and 10th seeds to determine the final playoff spot. Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, who was part of the board of governors to unanimously approve the play-in tournament before the start of the season, told ESPN's Tim MacMahon that, in retrospect, the idea...

The newest Hearthstone expansion has arrived, bringing back one of World of Warcraft’s most recognized zones: The Barrens. Forged in the Barrens adds 135 new cards to the game, allowing players to create new decks and combinations. This is the first expansion for Hearthstone’s Year of the Gryphon. There’s a new card rotation system; players have access to a Core Set, which replaces existing Basic and Classic sets. The Standard ranked mode will continue to limit players to decks comprised only of cards from the most recent expansions, allowing for the best possible competitive balance. Forged in the Barrens introduces the keyword Frenzy. When cards with the Frenzy status survive damage, they trigger an additional effect, like doing damage to other minions or healing a hero. The update also changes the way spells work. First, spells have been separated into six schools so Blizzard can set up more complex interactions with spells and other cards. A spell will now specify that it does Fire or Nature damage, as opposed to just damage. Second, spells can have ranks, so holding onto...
Animal Crossing: New Horizons came out a year ago, and since then it’s felt like a bright spot in a very bad year marked by a pandemic, protests against systemic racism and police brutality, and a world that felt like it was on fire. (And sometimes, literally, it was.) The life simulation game, released by Nintendo for Switch just as the pandemic became a pandemic, is inextricably linked to the events of the year in which it came out. That’s reflected in the ways players and communities used New Horizons to connect, grieve, protest, and celebrate together. Who’s to say how New Horizons would have been received in any other year? In all honesty, it really doesn’t matter. Because Tom Nook did begin offering his island getaway package on March 20, 2020, and for some time, Animal Crossing: New Horizons felt like everything. In a year that has felt like it lasted for both 10 minutes and 10 years, it was jarring to realize that Bunny Day — a contentious Easter-like holiday in New Horizons — is already coming around...

New York Yankees: The ‘bad faith’ in baseball maddens Gerrit Cole By: William Parlee February 24, 2021 ShareTweetFlipRedditThe New York Yankees pitching ace Gerrit Cole said players need to “wake up” and understand how some teams think about players in the aftermath of former Mariners president and CEO Kevin Mather’s admission that the Seattle Mariners manipulated service time and other things. This all involved Jarred Kelenic, who the Mariners obtained from the New York Mets in a trade that sent Robinson Cano and Edwin Diaz to the Mets, a trade that likely still stings the Mets. Most sources consider Kelenic as one of the best prospects in all of baseball. The Mariners Mathers said: “He’s a very good player, and quite frankly, we think he’s going to be a superstar; we would like him to get a few more at-bats in the minor leagues, probably Triple-A Tacoma for a month. Then he will likely be in left field at T-Mobile Park for the next six or seven years, and then he’ll be a...

However, with the Hall of Fame's Era Committees postponing their scheduled elections until next offseason because of the pandemic, there won't be a 2021 Hall class. 'Former players will be the ultimate judge, as it should be,' tweeted Schilling, who has previously claimed that his support...

New York Giants: 7 players the Giants need to part ways with in 2021 By: Christopher Reiss January 7, 2021 ShareTweetFlipRedditThe New York Giants might have missed the playoffs, but that does not mean they lacked roster talent at several key positions. The Giants needed a little help from the Eagles to sneak in, but of course, they did us dirty in their tank-job. Either way, the Giants should have controlled their own destiny and made the postseason on their own. This team is still ways away from competing for a Championship. The G-Men have some very difficult decisions this offseason about this roster. There are a few easy decisions that the Giants have to do to create more cap space to sign and re-sign some key players to this team. Here are the seven players that the New York Giants need to part ways within 2021: LB Kyler Fackrell The New York Giants signed Kyler Fackrell to a one-year prove-it deal, worth around $4.6 million. Most of Fackrell’s contract included...

Pace of play isn’t a new issue on Tour, but pushback against chronically slow players reached a crescendo in August 2019 when DeChambeau was shown during the telecast of the second round of The Northern Trust pacing off a 70-yard pitch shot and taking more than two minutes to line up an 11-foot putt on the...
New York Yankees Analysis: The Yankees need to prevent injuries in 2021 By: William Parlee January 6, 2021 ShareTweetFlipRedditThe New York Yankees had another rocky baseball season in 2020 due to several reasons, not the least of which is being plagued with injuries at key times during the season. Injuries during the season, of course, we’re not limited to the Yankees, but the Yankees sure did have many of them that affected the team’s play. The season for most fans was painful; even at one point, it looked as if the Yankees wouldn’t even reach the postseason at all. But the fact of the matter was that the Yankees as a whole didn’t play poorly, and they did make the postseason, although they exited too early. If you remember, the team seemed as though it would never lose when they started the season 8-1. But that soon changed. As the season started, it looked as if Aaron Judge was headed for the MVP of the league as he hit 9 homers in just...
New York Giants’ HC Joe Judge torches the Eagles over tank game in week 17 By: Alexander Wilson January 4, 2021 ShareTweetFlipRedditThe New York Giants had an opportunity to make the post-season if the Philadelphia Eagles emerged victorious against the Washington Football Team in week 17. The Eagles had already sat most of their starting players, utilizing Jalen Hurts as their quarterback before replacing him in the second half for career back-up Nate Sudfeld. Ultimately, the Eagles, more specifically, head coach Doug Pederson, tanked on national television i  a game that was flexed to prime time given the significance. The Giants desperately needed Philadelphia to win, but instead, they compromise the integrity of the sport and laid down for their opponents, who secured a playoff spot because of it. Talking heads around the league and team representatives, ranging from players to coaches, took to social media to express their concern and embarrassment. What Philadelphia did was nothing short of low class, given how teams around the league remained competitive despite having...
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — The New York Giants needed the Eagles to beat The Washington Football Team Sunday night in order to get a playoff berth but the Birds came up short. Now, some Giants players are questioning if the Birds were trying to lose on purpose. Giants players took to social media to express their frustrations after head coach Doug Pederson pulled Jalen Hurts in the 4th Quarter and put in third-stringer Nate Sudfeld. Wide receiver Daruis Slayton began a series of tweets with “Why on God’s green earth is Jalen Hurts not in the game” and “This is sickening.” “You play the game to win point blank period JJ Watt said it best the other day outside of how it effects us this is just disrespectful to the game,” Slayton tweeted. “Pokemon Go” is secretly a fitness app. If you look beyond the cuteness of Pikachu and the simple battle mechanics, few games are more effective at getting players off the couch. That’s part of the game’s mission. It pushes players to go outside and explore their community. For me, that has led to a deep dive into running as a symbiotic hobby. “Pokemon Go” has turned me into a runner but I’m not a serious one. I don’t try for personal records or push myself to run a marathon. All I do is jog around my city hunting for pocket monsters. That’s what makes “Pokemon Go” running different. The motivation comes from catching them all, and the game offers several ways to do that. You can run over to a Pokemon Gym to do a raid. You can spot a rare Pokemon on the radar and walk over to it. Those opportunities have nudged people to exercise. According to a study found in the National Institutes of Health, the game “leads to significant increases in physical activity over a period...
New York Mets expect to be involved in the Francisco Lindor sweepstakes By: Andres Chavez December 17, 2020 ShareTweetFlipRedditWhile the New York Mets have implied during the offseason that they would prefer to focus on signing free agents instead of the trade market, it doesn’t mean that they will completely turn their back on the latter. Yes, they want to save prospect capital and take advantage of their resources, but if a good deal presents itself, they will surely analyze it. The Mets have already made quite the splash during the free agency period, having secured James McCann to be the starter at catcher and Trevor May to pitch high-leverage innings in the bullpen. But they want more. They need more, actually. Center fielder George Springer and starting pitcher Trevor Bauer are, reportedly, New York Mets’ targets. But the team is also monitoring the market of Cleveland Indians’ star shortstop Francisco Lindor. In a cost-cutting initiative, the tribe made it public that they would like to trade their star before Opening...
The following couple of months promise to be very exciting for Animal Crossing players. Winter has already begun for the players in the Northern Hemisphere, and a range of humongous changes are visible. Players have already spotted snow on their islands. However, this phenomenon is rather gradual and will eventually reach every player in the aforementioned region. The phenomenon of snowfall in the game is similar to rainfall. The snow can disperse in both heavier and lighter forms depending on the time of day. And it is also possible that it might stop for a few hours altogether. However, snowfall became heavier starting December 11 and has already covered a major part of the players’ islands. The players can now also spot snowflakes spread across the length and breadth of their islands that can be used to craft seasonal items. In addition, the players can also spot snowballs that they can use to build snowmen to take part in the winter festivities. A range of more updates will come around as the month comes to a close. Be that as...
New York Giants: Logan Ryan still in the lead for NFC free safeties Pro Bowl voting By: Cay North December 12, 2020 ShareTweetFlipRedditThe New York Giants added Logan Ryan as a free agent after no other team gave him the same chance following his departure from the Titans, and they haven’t regretted the choice since. Ryan has become a key part of the secondary in what turned out to be a successful experiment following an early injury to Xavier McKinney. While Ryan was initially brought in just for this reason, he’s become enough of a factor for Giants fans to start thinking about the odds of him sticking around next year. One of the fruits of his labor is his lead in the voting for NFC free safeties for the Pro Bowl. There’s one week left to vote and so far, no one has surpassed Ryan’s total in this category. New York Yankees History: Why are there so many star Yankee players not in the Hall of Fame? By: William Parlee November 28, 2020 ShareTweetFlipRedditThe New York Yankees have had some of the best players in baseball in their 107-year glorious history. Many of those players are in the American Baseball Hall of Fame, but many Yankee greats are not. Many wonder why players like Thurman Munson, Bernie Williams, and Andy Pettitte aren’t in that prestigious group of baseball immortals. Although many believe the baseball writers who select and vote on the nominees have a bias against the Yankees, there is no simple answer. I can’t verify or deny that notion. Players are currently inducted into the Hall of Fame through election by either the Baseball Writers’ Association of America (or BBWAA) or the Veterans Committee, which now consists of four subcommittees of which considers and votes for candidates from a separate era of baseball. The criteria that are used by the writers give them a lot of latitude in the...

Although Rojas was appointed as the skipper under the Wilpons and Brodie Van Wagenen’s time, new owner Steve Cohen and Alderson decided to give him another opportunity. Rojas is a longtime member of the New York Mets in a variety of roles, from minor league manager to bench coach to coach of quality control. For more than a decade, he’s been involved with the organization. He’s highly regarded as a good manager and has the respect of the players and the front office. He even managed several of the Mets’ current stars, such as Dominic Smith, Pete Alonso, Jeff McNeil, and others while they were going through the minor league ranks. A disappointing first season with the Mets In his first season in charge...
