Sen. Tom Cotton tore into Attorney General Merrick Garland during testimony before the  Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, telling him to 'resign in disgrace.' 'Thank God you are not on the Supreme Court,' the Arkansas Republican said, bringing up the touchy subject of Garland's failed confirmation to the high court in 2016. President Obama appointed him and then-Sen. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell blocked his confirmation because it was an election year.  'You should resign in disgrace,' Cotton told Garland.  The senator was questioning Garland over a directive the Justice Department issued earlier this month promising more law enforcement resources for schools amid a rise in tensions and threats at school board meetings over matters like critical race theory, coronavirus precautions and transgender bathroom policies.  Cotton asked about a Loudon County father who was dragged out of a school board meeting and arrested as he tried to tell the room his 15-year-old daughter had been raped by a boy dressed in a skirt at Stone Bridge High School in the girls' bathroom.  Sen. On Wednesday’s broadcast of Fox News Radio’s “Guy Benson Show,” Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) said Democrats “cry about taking care of the most vulnerable,” but the party’s leadership “made a decision to support teachers’ unions” over the needs of low-income children on school re-openings. Scott said, “Democrats literally refused to stand up for the parents of these low-income kids, who have a choice to make. Those parents have to either go to work or stay home. They can’t do both. And when we’re talking about an economic crisis, with the bottom dropping out, to force single parents to decide between educating their kids or keeping the lights on for their kids. There’s a no-win there. And our Democrats, who cry about taking care of the most vulnerable, said to those very people, and their children, I’m going to go with the teachers’ unions and let them make the decision, not just for the parents, but for the parents and the kids.” He added, “Well, it’s virtue-signaling. … They literally feign authenticity on the issue of fighting for the poor, and...
MOST people step in when their best friend needs relationship advice – but it’s less common when that mate is also your ex, and you LIVE with them and their new partner. That’s the case for Tony Drewitt-Barlow, 56, though, known to many as one of Britain’s first gay dads. 7Tony Drewitt-Barlow (left) and his ex Barrie (right) are known for being Britain's first gay dadsCredit: donbarrie/Instagram Not only does he live with ex Barrie, 50, and his new partner Scott, 27, but Scott is also the ex-boyfriend of Tony and Barrie’s 21-year-old daughter Saffron. It’s a thoroughly “modern and blended” family according to everyone involved, something made obvious when Tony received a $90million windfall courtesy of Bitcoin last week. While most would start splashing the cash on top-of-the-range cars, property and designer clothes, Tony’s first thought was for his family – all of them. Saffron and her twin Aspen received $15million each, younger brother Orlando, 17, also got $15million and 11-year-old twins Dallas and Jasper received $10million. 7Tony is seen here with daughter Saffron and her brother Aspen, who...
Taylor Swift had her first taste of freedom when she released her re-recorded song “Love Story (Taylor’s Version)” at midnight Thursday. Now a bona fide force within the music world, Swift’s voice comes off stronger, more controlled, and with a hint more confidence than the 18-year-old who first belted out lyrics about Romeo and Juliet, as the music swelled behind her. While the new version is not wildly different from its original, the difference is still clear and the passion behind it palpable. It marks the first step toward 31-year-old Swift reclaiming ownership of her sophomore album Fearless, which was initially released in 2008 under her former label Big Machine Records. The singer-songwriter dropped the news on Thursday morning that she had completed recording “Fearless (Taylor’s Version).” In true Swift form, she left a clue in her announcement, capping up random letters that spell out “April Ninth.” The album has an impressive 26-song list, including anthems “Fifteen,” “You Belong With Me,” and “Forever & Always,” that collectively bring back the spirit of teenage love and nostalgia which first captured the...

By DAVID BAUDER, AP Media Writer NEW YORK (AP) — Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott signed a new contract Tuesday and the company said it will continue its “center right” programming mix despite a recent ratings slump and legal fight against its flagship Fox News Channel. The affirmation of Scott's leadership came a day after Fox filed a motion to dismiss claims made against the company as part of a $2.7 billion lawsuit brought last week by the voting technology company Smartmatic. Scott, who joined Fox News Channel as a programming assistant when the network launched in 1996, has been CEO of Fox News Media since 2018. Fox News has routinely been the top-ranked cable news network for the past two decades. But the network finished January, the month of President Joe Biden's inauguration and the attack on the U.S. Capitol by former President Donald Trump's supporters, as the third-place news network behind CNN and MSNBC for the first time since 1999. Fox Corp. CEO Lachlan Murdoch, in an earnings call on Tuesday, said the “post-election audience pullback” had...
On Monday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “America Reports,” Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) pushed for school reopenings and denying additional funding to schools that won’t reopen by stating, “our private schools, our Catholic schools with pennies on the dollar, most of them are open, open for the kids to come back.” Scott said, [relevant remarks begin around 4:00] “If you are not willing to put the kids back in schools, why should we give you more money to open schools? In December, we provided $82 billion to open schools and frankly, those same schools are not open. Think about it this way, kids today, especially poorer kids, learning loss is happening, developmental delays are happening, and frankly, there’s an article about Las Vegas pushing to reopen schools because suicides are up. The consequences for not reopening schools is devastating. But, what’s interesting, Sandra, our private schools, our Catholic schools with pennies on the dollar, most of them are open, open for the kids to come back.” Follow Ian Hanchett on Twitter @IanHanchett
On Friday’s “Fox News Primetime,” Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) blasted the hypocrisy of those on the left like the Biden administration that say they want to follow science on the coronavirus, but then ignore the science on reopening schools. Scott said, “I mean, the hypocrisy of the left, they say they want to follow the science. The CDC says, open the schools. The Biden administration says, no, we’ll wait and follow something else.” He added, “Fact is, in December, we approved $82 billion, billion dollars, to reopen schools. They still won’t do it. I’m stunned, Trey, truly stunned.” Follow Ian Hanchett on Twitter @IanHanchett

Ex-FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb has weighed in on the vaccine distribution spat slamming the government for holding back Pfizer jabs from states saying it is 'not the right decision' while 'we're at the peak of the epidemic'.   Gottlieb, who headed up the Food and Drug Administration from 2017 until April 2019 and is now on the board of Pfizer, accused the government of 'throttling' the supply to US states and said it would be more effective to get 'as many shots in arms' as possible right now.  'They are being throttled, and I think the government has admitted they're doing that. They are holding back doses,' he told MSNBC Friday. His comments came one day after Pfizer said it had 'millions of doses' of its COVID-19 vaccine sitting in warehouses but were still awaiting shipping instructions from the federal government. Government officials then hit back saying this had been the plan all along to ensure people getting the first jab can also get the second booster jab.  The Pfizer vaccine requires two doses taken 21 days apart, with the individual having almost full...
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — The Texas Rangers re-signed right-hander Jimmy Herget to a major league contract and designated outfielder Scott Heineman for assignment Friday. The 27-year-old Herget’s salary will be $700,000 while on the major league roster and $150,000 if he is assigned to the minor leagues. Herget became a free agent when the Rangers didn’t offer him a contract by the Dec. 2 deadline. Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game, the 2010 video game adaptation of the film by the same name, was delisted from digital storefronts in 2014, but six years later, the game is coming back. Ubisoft announced on Monday that Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game — Complete Edition will be released on January 14. It’ll be available on Google Stadia, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One, released with the original game’s downloadable content, which added Knives Chau and Wallace Wells as playable characters. Ubisoft hasn’t said whether it’ll have a physical game available. Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game launched in August 2010, at the same time the movie premiered. It was delisted from digital storefronts in December 2014, making it unavailable to anyone who hadn’t already downloaded the game. Fans had hoped that the 10-year anniversary of the movie would inspire the developer to bring the game back, but things looked bleak. In August, Scott Pilgrim comics creator Bryan Lee O’Malley tweeted that he’d be “surprised” to see Ubisoft bring the game...
