Share this: MTA officials on Tuesday honored subway conductor Mandy Harford and train operator Tamika Waller, whose actions during a service disruption on the L line between Brooklyn and Manhattan were exemplary. Waller first spotted an unauthorized person on the tracks at the First Avenue station in Manhattan, likely saving the person’s life. The incident delayed Harford’s train for an hour, inconveniencing riders from North Williamsburg and Bushwick for whom the L train provides the main access to Manhattan. Video of the incident taken onboard the train on Nov. 23 was posted online and captured Harford’s exceptional communication with customers. Throughout the entire incident, Harford walked through train cars assuring customers police had been notified, and they would be on the move as soon as possible.
Jussie Smollett was allegedly seen on video conducting a dry run of his attack the day before it took place, further lending credence to the prosecution’s claims that he orchestrated the whole thing.  During opening arguments on Monday, special prosecutor Dan Webb told the jury that Smollett was upset that a threatening hate letter that was sent to the studio behind "Empire" wasn’t taken seriously enough. As a result, Webb is hoping to convince a jury that the actor hired brothers Abimbola and Olabinjo Osundairo to attack him.  One potentially damning piece of evidence teased during Webb’s opening arguments was that there is surveillance video showing Smollett and the two siblings, who he worked with on "Empire," doing a kind of "dry run" of the attack in the area the day before it allegedly took place.  The prosecution will allege what the Osundairo brothers have already told investigators, that they were cut a check for $3,500 after the dry run and given $100 in cash to get supplies to stage the attack at Smollett’s behest.  JUSSIE SMOLLETT ARRIVES TO COURT...

A female Italian TV reporter was slapped on the rear live on air by a football fan in the aftermath of a game played this weekend to raise awareness of violence against women.  Greta Beccaglia, a journalist with Italy's Toscana TV, was reporting live from outside the Carlo Castellani stadium in Empoli where Fiorentina lost 2-1 to the hosts in a Serie A clash.  Beccaglia was speaking to despondent Fiorentina fans following the game when two men approached her from behind. One of the men appeared to spit in his hand, before slapping the journalist on the rear live on air.  A visibly disgusted Beccaglia turned on the men, wagging her finger before telling them: 'Sorry, you can't do this, I'm sorry.'  But the men quickly made their exit before another fan jumped into shot and swore at the camera.  The incident came in the immediate aftermath of the game in which players wore a red mark on their cheeks during the game in support of the 'give violence against women the red card' campaign, on the same week of the...

(CNN)Darrell E. Brooks, 39, of Milwaukee is the suspect in Sunday's incident in which an SUV plowed into a Christmas parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin, leaving five people dead and 40 injured, authorities said Monday."We are confident he acted alone," Waukesha Police Chief Dan Thompson said at a news conference. "There is no evidence this is a terrorist incident."He said Brooks was involved in a domestic disturbance just prior to driving his SUV through the parade Sunday afternoon.Earlier, police said they had "a person of interest in custody," but would not say whether it was the driver of the SUV.

Following the release of a search warrant executed by the Santa Fe County Sheriff's office, detectives uncovered that there were three key people who handled the firearm that eventually went off and resulted in the death of Hutchins.  Armorer Hanna Gutierrez Reed placed the prop gun outside of the church set location on a cart with other prop guns due to coronavirus restrictions. The next person to handle it was assistant director Dave Halls, who handed it off to Baldwin, announcing that it was a "cold gun," a term used to indicate to those on-set that the firearm was not loaded and therefore safe to handle. Both the armorer and assistant director were reportedly tasked with checking the gun to make sure it was unloaded. However, somehow a live round was loaded into the gun that went off when Baldwin pulled the trigger while rehearsing a scene. Furthermore, director Joel Souza,...

Bystanders chose to record a horrific incident instead of reporting it last week when a woman was raped for about eight minutes and harassed for over 40 minutes on the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) train. According to police officials, despite there being multiple passengers witnessing the incident, only one person chose to call 911 during the attack—an off-duty SEPTA employee. “I’m appalled by those who did nothing to help this woman,” Timothy Bernhardt, the superintendent of the Upper Darby Township Police Department, said on Sunday. “Anybody that was on that train has to look in the mirror and ask why they didn’t intervene or why they didn’t do something.” The off-duty employee’s call allowed Transit Police officers to arrive three minutes later, interrupt the assault, and arrest the alleged rapist, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported. While the off-duty employee used quick thinking and reported the incident as soon as they saw it, the incident could have been stopped earlier had other passengers called instead of recording the incident. “We want everyone to be angry, disgusted, and to join us in being resolute...

(CNN)Three people are dead and a police officer is recovering from being stabbed in the neck in an incident at a residence in Fort Smith, Arkansas, police said. A police officer was responding to a 911 caller Sunday morning who reportedly heard yelling and screaming and then saw a shirtless man "assaulting a person on the ground," Fort Smith Police Chief Danny Baker said in a news conference. When the officer arrived, the shirtless man was beating his 15-year-old son with a rock in the head and face and, and the officer ordered him to stop, Baker said. At first the man seemed to comply, but when the officer approached the man to put him in restraints, the man produced "an edged weapon slashing the officer's throat and neck" just under a minute after the officer arrived, Baker said. The officer fired two shots, killing the man, according to Baker. The 15-year-old was pronounced dead after being rushed to the hospital. He had multiple stab wounds and blunt force trauma, the chief said. Read MoreOther officers found a woman dead from...
A teenage boy is in the hospital after a fight broke out during a high school football game in Montgomery County, Maryland, Friday night. According to Montgomery County police, the fight occurred around 9 p.m. at Seneca Valley High School in Germantown. At the time of the incident, Seneca Valley’s football team was playing against Northwest High School. Once officers arrived at the scene, they learned that a group of people were fighting away from the field. Rescue crews took a 15-year-old boy to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. Police say they’re still investigating what led up to the fight. No arrests have been announced at this time. Below is a map of where the incident took place.
Also, the school failed to report a case from October 2018 in which three football players at Tuscorara High School were arrested and charged with sexual assault. The case, which was widely publicized at the time, involved a younger player who was "held down by teammates who inserted objects into the victim" in a locker room. That year, Tuscorara did not report any instances of sexual offenses against students to Virginia's public database, as required by law. It is unknown how many other cases of sexual assault have gone unreported by LCPS. A spokesman for the Virginia Department of Education told the Daily Wire, "VDOE is reviewing the discipline, crime and violence data submissions of Loudoun County Public Schools and is in communication with LCPS to determine whether the division's reporting is accurate and whether the division is in compliance with state and federal law." It's possible that LSPS Superintendent Scott Ziegler could be held personally responsible if the school district did not follow the law. Virginia law states: "The division superintendent shall annually report all such incidents...

INSULATE Britain continue to cause chaos on the roads, with many motorists becoming frustrated and impatient with their movements. But what are the rules for motorists when approaching someone on the road? 1Insulate Britain were blocking the roads againCredit: Getty Is it illegal to run over someone who is lying down on the road? Everybody, whether on foot or behind the wheel of a car, has a duty of responsibility to both themselves and those around them. Pedestrians should only ever cross a road where it is safe to do so. Despite this, it is typically those who are driving that hold the most responsibility when a pedestrian is struck by a moving vehicle. This is largely down to the fact that a car is a potentially lethal weapon and, in the event of a collision, it is almost impossible for a vehicle to come off worse than a pedestrian.
