EVEN if you spend hours cleaning your kitchen, there are still sneaky places that hide germs and bacteria. Cleaning expert Deyan Dimitrov, who is the CEO of Laundryheap, revealed seven places we rarely wash that can harbour grime - so how many are you guilty of? 3A cleaning expert has revealed the seven places that don't get cleaned in a kitchenCredit: Getty Images - Getty 3You should wash your apron every few wears as pieces of food can get stuck on it, especially if there is a front pocketCredit: Getty Images - Getty Here are his top seven places to check today in your kitchen... Sauce and spice shelves While your spice shelf may look appealing to the eye, it can be a place that gathers dust, accidental spillages and powder on the shelf below. Deyan told the Daily Star: “I would recommend giving the storage areas of your condiments a thorough clean with surface cleaner and a damp cloth every few weeks, to ensure that any dirt and grime doesn’t fester away in hidden areas.” You should make sure...
Every holiday season, people debate back and forth about what to donate to food banks and shelters: food? Diapers? Interview clothes? Just cash? There are pros and cons to all options, and frankly, the best route is to reach out to the specific shelter or organization you’re interested in and ask what they find most useful at that point in time. With that said, one underdiscussed type of donation I always encourage folks to consider (holidays or not) is cookware and kitchen appliances.  The InstantPot you were gifted and never used? Take it to a Goodwill. The rice cooker you’ve replaced with a fancier model but still works fine? Donation center. The humble coffee pot that’s collected dust because you moved into a matcha phase? Clean it up and drop it off. Provided the item works correctly and is safe to use, there’s no harm in donating it to a person or group who might appreciate it. In fact, a barely used set of glassware or a slightly dated quesadilla maker might add a lot of warmth and enjoyment to a...

My colleague Brooke Leigh Howard and I had such an animated conversation after we saw the play Clyde’s on Broadway, we tried to translate it to print. Tim Teeman: In the program for Clyde’s, which opens at 2nd Stage’s Hayes Theater on Broadway tonight, the diner of the title of this excellent play is described as “a sandwich shop that sits on a nondescript patch of road in Berks County, Pennsylvania. A liminal space.” So, while what faces us via Takeshi Kata’s kitchen set is immediately evocative—kitchen work stations, fridges, scuffed walls, the open window to the diner itself—the playwright Lynn Nottage also intends it as an arena of anger, joy, confession, and desire for her group of former convicts working for a better life, but beaten down at every turn by Emmy-winning Uzo Aduba’s whip-crack villain, Clyde, who is determined by viciousness—both quiet and boomingly loud—to keep her staff in their places. Nottage—the first woman to win two Pulitzer Prizes for Drama—means this is to be a down-at-heel diner kitchen, and also a bigger psychological space...
A mum has shared photos of her pint-sized Picasso's efforts to redecorate the kitchen with bright red acrylic paint. The youngster's artwork can be seen spread across the light-grey vinyl of the kitchen floor and streaked over the matching cupboard doors. Tiny red foot steps shed some light as to exactly how the artwork was made as does a sneaky photo taken of the little girl at work, unaware of her quietly watching mum. A mum has shared photos of her pint-sized Picasso's efforts to redecorate the kitchen - with bright red acrylic paint Most people agreed the tiny red footprints were their favourite part of the self-appointed art project The paint, which initially left the mum 'completely speechless', 'lifted quite well' but left a light-pink stain on the floor. THE KITCHEN is truly the heart of the home — according to a new poll, if Americans were given $10,000, that is where they’d invest. A new survey of 2,005 nationally representative Americans asked which areas of the home they would look to upgrade first if they were suddenly granted $10,000, and found that upgrading appliances was the top priority, according to nearly a quarter of respondents. 3A new study showed how people would fix up their kitchens if they had the moneyCredit: Getty 3The bathroom would be the second place to tackleCredit: Getty After updating the kitchen, Americans cited updating their bathroom fixtures as well as their home’s furniture as secondary areas of interest. The survey found 57 percent of respondents have fallen in love with an item for their home – but didn’t follow through on the purchase, with the top reason being...

Speaking on his YouTube channel, the royal chef, 59, who spent 15 years in the royal kitchen, explained that he would always run the daily menu with two options past the monarch, and if Diana was visiting, he would make sure her favourite dessert - a cross between bread pudding and creme brûlée - was top on the menu. MIAMI (CBSMiami) — Shouldering both pandemic troubles and a systemic lack of access to capital, hundreds of Hispanic-owned businesses across the country and in South Florida are getting a much-needed boost from the PepsiCo Foundation. Opening the doors to her Peruvian restaurant, Claudy’s Kitchen, was a lifelong dream for Claudia Berroa. READ MORE: Deadline Looms For Miami Police Chief Art Acevedo's Action Plan“I came from a poor family, but now, I think, having the restaurant shares my family recipes,” she said. But sharing those dishes hasn’t been easy. The family’s New York City restaurant opened during the pandemic last summer. “The week that we opened two restaurants closed on this block, so we were super scared,” said Rich Berroa. A 2020 Stanford University report found 86% of Latino-owned businesses experienced immediate, negative effects of the pandemic, and they were disproportionately less likely to receive government help, like PPP loans. “I know particularly for the PPP, our bank was putting priority to bigger loans,” Rich said. Claudy’s Kitchen got help from the PepsiCo Foundation, which is investing 50 million dollars into...

The idea led Jenny to designing the Carry-Play table in May 2020 and launched the product a few months later in October.   To Jenny's surprise, in less than 12 months her brand Kingdom Playroom turned over more than $160,000 from the $255 versatile Carry-Play table.  Melbourne mum Jenny Chen decided her kids needed a multi-functional table of their own to avoid cluttering the family kitchen table In May 2020 she started designing a multi-functional kids table that lead to the launch of the Carry-Play table (pictured) 'I was hunting for a foldable kids table with storage and didn't find anything on the market that ticked all the boxes for me,' Jenny told FEMAIL. MICROWAVES are a handy kitchen appliance that make life so much easier - but did you know you're most likely using yours incorrectly? According to consumer watchdog Choice, there are eight main mistakes people make that can ruin your food and your kitchen. 1These are the eight mistakes you're making with your microwaveCredit: Getty Placing food inside incorrectly One common mistake many people make is placing their food incorrectly inside the microwave. According to the experts, there should be ten centimetres around the sides and 20 centimetres on top to allow for enough airflow. Not only will this help to heat up your food thoroughly and evenly, but it will also stop the microwave from potentially overheating and malfunctioning. Not covering up food The second most common error is not covering food, which is not only messy but can cause your food to cook unevenly.
