Cables news networks’ total viewership slumped Thursday and Friday as the Thanksgiving holiday drew Americans away from their television sets — or T.V. news at least. CNN reached an average of 357,000 viewers on Thursday compared to 719,00 average viewers on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Fox News averaged 940,000 viewers Thursday, down from 1.73 million the day before. BOSTON (CBS) – The days leading up to Thanksgiving get all the hype when it comes to holiday travel. But with the weekend coming to a close, Logan Airport was packed on Sunday morning with people headed home from the holiday away. MassDOT also anticipates Sunday will be the busiest travel day on the roads. “The big roadways we track are the ones leading to far reaches of the state and out of state – 495, turnpike always the big ones,” Jonathan Gulliver, MassDOT Highway Administrator, said. ”A lot of people travel that way to go to their destinations and to return. (Interstate) 93, 95, all the biggest highways are the ones people to go. It really makes for difficult travel on those roadways if you have to be on them for any other reason.” MassDOT reminded drivers to be patient and stay focused on the road. Officials said distracted driving is to blame for most serious crashes this time of year.
During a week of confusion and tumult, reports and rumors, the Chicago Bears needed something to lean on. Anything, really. Burdened by their five-game losing streak and then left to sift through the growing uncertainty regarding coach Matt Nagy’s job security, players and coaches had to push to retain their focus and the concentration of those around them. Veteran quarterback Andy Dalton was happy to do his part. On Wednesday night, at Nagy’s behest, Dalton spoke to the team at their hotel as a way of helping to recenter the group. A day later, he threw for 317 yards, drilled a 17-yard second-quarter touchdown pass to tight end Jimmy Graham and led an 18-play, game-winning field-goal drive that allowed the Bears to edge the last-place Detroit Lions 16-14 on the final snap at Ford Field. Dalton’s Thanksgiving eve pep talk? “I just spoke from the heart,” he said. “It’s what it all boils down to. I just felt like there was something in talking about what we needed in this moment.” Added receiver Darnell Mooney on...

Playing on Thanksgiving is nothing new for the Chicago Bears, who have done it 37 times — the third most in the NFL. Known as the Decatur and then Chicago Staleys for its first two Thanksgiving games, the team competed on the November holiday annually for 19 consecutive years from 1920-38. The venue that has hosted the Bears most on Thanksgiving — 11 times — is Wrigley Field. Here’s a look back at the team’s record on the holiday from the past century. Memorable Thanksgiving game moments for the Bears Nov. 26, 1925: The Bears and Chicago Cardinals play to a scoreless tie at Wrigley Field before 36,000 people — then the largest crowd in professional football history. People ride on the elevator as shoppers show up early for the Black Friday sales at the King of Prussia shopping mall in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, November 26, 2021.Rachel Wisniewski | Reuters Online spending during the holiday season is on track to top $200 billion for the first time, but Thanksgiving day sales were on the low end of projections, according to data from Adobe Analytics, which tracks consumer sales on retailers' websites. Sales online on Thanksgiving day rang in at $5.1 billion, according to Adobe. That matches last year's Thanksgiving day spending. It is a roughly 21% increase from that day in 2019, the company said. However, the level of e-commerce spending was at the bottom of Adobe's predicted range, which was between $5.1 billion and $5.4 billion. The company expects total online sales this season to hit $207 billion — a 10% year over year increase and all-time high. The results raise questions about whether holiday demand will be as strong as predicted or whether Thanksgiving has diminished in importance as shoppers buy gifts throughout the...
