David Furones, Dolphins Writer Another dominant effort by this Dolphins defense, which was expected against the ailing Giants and backup quarterback Mike Glennon. Tua Tagovailoa again did enough to win and didn’t make any crucial mistake. Miami continues to keep itself in the playoff conversation. Keven Lerner, Assistant Sports Editor The Dolphins, on fire with a five-game win streak, now get to take a week off to lick their seasonlong wounds before getting the three-win Jets coming to town with a .500 record at stake. Steve Svekis, Assistant Sports Editor OK, it was sloppy. Bottom line is the defense imposed its will again, and the Dolphins officially go to the bye week in the thick of the wild-card race. This will be updated.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — A year ago, the New York Giants got off to a 1-7 start and remained in the playoff race all season because they played in the weakest division in the NFL — the NFC East. Their postseason hopes ended in the finale when Washington (7-9) beat Philadelphia in a game in which the Eagles lifted starting quarterback Jalen Hurts in the fourth quarter trailing by three points. New York (6-10) finished a game behind in the division. Things haven’t changed much this season. Joe Judge and the Giants got off to another bad start (1-5) and they are now 4-7 after Sunday’s 13-7 win over the Eagles. Winning the NFC East will be tough. Dallas (7-4) is in first place with a three-game lead. Hold on though, the NFC as a whole is weak this season. Six teams have winning records: Arizona, Green Bay, Tampa Bay, Dallas, the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco. The Niners at 6-5 are at the bottom rung of that group. Then comes the NFC’s seventh playoff berth, the last...

Getty Tom Brady gets fired up after a first down run. For a moment, Tom Brady performed like a bass player who busted out an epic solo as he leapt over a New York Giants defender. Social media went wild as Brady looked far more flashy than his usual, precise self. Brady had more fun with it after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers downed the Giants 30-10, and he admitted his run and “hurdle” was rare. He even corrected a reporter on the length of his first-down dash. Did Tom Brady technically just hurdle a defender??? He's absolutely fired up ???? ???? @NFLpic.twitter.com/hWLWsN08Dw — The Athletic (@TheAthletic) November 23, 2021 “Eleven-yard run,” Brady said with a smile. “They don’t happen very often, so I do remember how far they go. It was pretty good.” Brady has been known as pocket passer and not the fastest quarterback out there — let alone hurdling a defender like a dual-threat quarterback. He even makes fun of his lack of speed, which he did last summer for a Madden 22 promo. “It’s...
By Michael Hurley, CBS Boston BOSTON (CBS) — The track record of Bill Belichick assistants moving into head coaching roles remains spotty. While Tuesday’s big news — the firing of Giants offensive coordinator Jason Garrett — didn’t directly involve a Belichick disciple, it nevertheless does not bode well for the long-term security and stability of Joe Judge in New York. Judge, who was a bit of a surprise hire for the G-Men in 2020, is now 9-17 since taking over for Pat Shurmur, who was 9-23 in his two seasons running the Giants. The Shurmur era, such as it was, came after Ben McAdoo went 11-5 in his first year on the job, only to go 2-10 in year two before getting fired. Suffice it to say, the Giants have not been blessed with great head coaching since showing Tom Coughlin the door after the 2015 season. That may be a larger issue with the Giants, who also haven’t gotten quality general management from Dave Gettleman. The placement of so many of the franchise’s eggs into Daniel Jones’ basket also leaves...
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — The New York Giants have fired offensive coordinator Jason Garrett after a dreadful performance in a nationally televised game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Giants (3-7) tweeted the decision Tuesday afternoon, saying the former Dallas Cowboys head coach had been relieved of his duties. There was no immediate word who would replace Garrett for the game Sunday at MetLife Stadium against the Philadelphia Eagles (5-6). Former Cleveland Browns coach Freddie Kitchens is on the staff and could take over. Garrett was hired last year shortly after Joe Judge was named head coach. The Giants (3-7) were embarrassed on Monday night, dropping a 30-10 decision to the Bucs. Judge said the team has too many good players not to be scoring, giving an indication changes were coming. New York has scored 189 points this season. It has struggled in the red zone and in five of its seven losses has a combined 55 points. The Giants finished with 215 total yards Monday night, the second-lowest total of the 26-game Judge era. They gained 159...
Tampa Bay Buccaneers While it wasn’t a perfect performance offensively, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers managed to do what they needed to in their 30-10 win over the Giants at Raymond James Stadium on Monday night Football. Tampa Bay didn’t run the ball especially well, and Mike Evans had a strange drop that led to a Tom Brady “interception” (if we can even call it that), but the defense stepped up in a major way, taking advantage of the Giants’ inexplicably awful offensive line and poor decision making by quarterback Daniel Jones.  The Bucs forced Jones to throw a pair of head-scratcher interceptions by applying pressure all game and racking up a pair of sacks plus nine QB hits. The secondary wasn’t perfect, but it didn’t need to be against a Giants offense that struggled to move the ball all game. Truth be told, Tampa Bay only really allowed 3 points, as the Giants’ lone touchdown came following the aforementioned interception, which set the Giants’ offense up inside the Bucs 10-yard line early in the game. After that New York touchdown,...
BOSTON (CBS) — The New England Patriots proudly display six Super Bowl banners high above the south end zone of Gillette Stadium. It’s possible that none of those would exist if the Giants had listened to Whitey Walsh. A Giants employee for almost 40 years, Walsh told Ian O’Connor of the New York Post that he made a push for the Giants to draft Tom Brady back in 2000 — in the fourth round, then again in the fifth round, and then once more in the sixth round. The Giants, obviously, didn’t listen to their scout. The Giants drafted linebacker Brandon Short in the fourth round, cornerback Ralph Brown in the fifth round, and linebacker Dhani Jones — Brady’s Michigan teammate — in the sixth round. “I said what I said and nobody cared,” Walsh told O’Connor about his case for Brady. “They were waiting for backup from some other scout in the room that saw him, and nobody did. … I thought someone might say, ‘Oh yeah, he was great in the Orange Bowl,’ but nobody said anything. His death was confirmed by Deborah Matthews, who is a lawyer for Huff’s daughter Catherine Huff Myers.  1Sam Huff has died at the age of 87 Huff had been diagnosed with dementia in 2013 according to an obituary released by the Giants. Huff was born in Edna, West Virginia, becoming a two-time All-Pro during his career. “Sam was one of the greatest Giants of all time. Getty Giants TE Evan Engram celebrates with teammate Saquon Barkley. In what has become a customary practice in recent years, the Evan Engram trade talks came and went at the November 2nd deadline, yet the former first-rounder remains on the New York Giants roster. However, that is finally expected to change this coming offseason. According to NJ.com’s Darryl Slater, Engram “figures to play out his deal and then walk,” this summer. “He is playing 2021 on the fifth-year option in his rookie deal, so he is about to hit free agency for the first time next offseason,” Slater added. “He has mostly disappointed since Gettleman’s predecessor, Jerry Reese, drafted him 23rd overall in 2017. Presuming the Giants don’t do much in 2022 free agency — since they’re pinched for cap space — Engram signing elsewhere could help them get a compensatory draft pick in 2023.”Engram’s Future: Compensatory Picks, Salary Cap & UpsideWhile Engram could very well sign a lucrative enough deal to fetch the Giants a compensatory pick similar to what his rumored trade value was on the...

(CNN)The Kansas City Chiefs dug deep to complete a hard-fought comeback against the New York Giants on Monday, improving to 4-4 this season. Harrison Butker kicked a pair of field goals in the fourth quarter to lift the Chiefs to a 20-17 win, their first victory over the Giants since 2013. Despite the win, it was an inconsistent display from the home side which was typified by quarterback Patrick Mahomes' performance. The 26-year-old threw his 10th interception of the season and would have had another if it hadn't been nullified by a Giants penalty. Mahomes has now thrown an interception in each of his last seven games, a career-worst. New York Giants: Logan Ryan addresses the hated MetLife Stadium turf Cay North October 29, 2021 Share on facebook Facebook Share on twitter Twitter Share on reddit Reddit The New York Giants and Jets play in one of the NFL’s more high-end stadiums. After all, MetLife Stadium only opened in 2010 and cost $1.6 billion to build. That’s $1.9 billion based on 2020’s currency values. The stadium is set to host prestigious events well into the future such as the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final. With that being said, Giants safety Logan Ryan still has a problem with it: the turf. The turf at MetLife Stadium became the subject of criticism last season after a string of injuries that affected both the home and visiting teams, but the turf is back in the news this year after the Giants have had it especially bad injury-wise. Logan Ryan points out turf as injury factor “We’ve really got to talk about these turf fields, man. It’s just not best for a player’s safety,”...

New York Giants have a chance to take advantage of weak defense on MNF Anthony Rivardo October 28, 2021 Share on facebook Facebook Share on twitter Twitter Share on reddit Reddit The New York Giants are coming off of a surprising blowout victory over the Carolina Panthers in Week Seven. At 2-5, the Giants are looking to turn their season around after a slow start to the year. In Week Eight, New York will travel to Kansas City as underdogs to face the Chiefs on Monday night. The Giants will head into this game as underdogs like they were last week, but this is another game where the Giants could surprise some people and end up on top. The Kansas City Chiefs have one of the worst defenses in the NFL, giving the Giants an opportunity to take advantage of this weakness and potentially upset their opponent on primetime. The Kansas City Chiefs Defense Despite making it to the Super Bowl last season, the Kansas City Chiefs are off to a slow start...
New York Giants: Daniel Jones benefits from new rules, says Tom Brady Cay North October 28, 2021 Share on facebook Facebook Share on twitter Twitter Share on reddit Reddit New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones has picked up a reputation as a rushing QB that even Tom Brady has noticed. The topic came up when Brady was discussing the current league rules on his SiriusXM podcast, “Let’s Go!” He compared the new generation of QBs to his own, and pointed out how much easier it is to run the ball as a quarterback these days. “I think so many quarterbacks, they run through the middle of the defense, and they just probably know that, in essence, they’re not going to get hurt,” Brady said. As a player from a different time, the trend is ‘crazy’ to Brady. That’s a pretty reasonable take, of course. Back when Brady came into the league, running into the middle of the defense as a QB was a recipe to get rocked by whatever linebacker or safety was...
New York Giants: Barkley and 3 receivers worked with trainers at practice Cay North October 27, 2021 Share on facebook Facebook Share on twitter Twitter Share on reddit Reddit The New York Giants are seemingly doomed to suffer from injuries this season. That’s the case for every team to some extent, but Big Blue has been hit especially bad in 2021. Multiple offensive stars missed the victory against Carolina, but those players are making progress towards returning. Those players are running back Saquon Barkley and receivers Kadarius Toney, Sterling Shepard and Kenny Golladay. Toney and Shepard both played in the Rams game but missed week 7, while Barkley and Golladay have been out since the Dallas loss. While they haven’t returned to full speed in practice, it’s encouraging that they’re doing something at all. New York Giants: Azeez Ojulari looks like a strong DROTY candidate Anthony Rivardo October 27, 2021 Share on facebook Facebook Share on twitter Twitter Share on reddit Reddit The New York Giants seem to have gotten a steal in the 2021 NFL Draft. The Giants traded down in the first and second rounds of this year’s draft. In the second round, with the fiftieth overall pick in the NFL Draft, New York selected Azeez Ojulari. Azeez Ojulari, edge rusher out of Georgia, seems to have been a steal with the fiftieth pick in the draft. Ojulari looks like a strong defensive rookie of the year candidate through the first seven weeks of his career. If Azeez can stay on this trajectory, he will be in the running for the prestigious award at the end of the year. Azeez Ojulari stats and highlights In each of the Giants’ first three games of the season, Azeez Ojulari recorded a sack. Three sacks in three games put Ojulari’s season off to a hot start. EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — It takes a couple of turns of the ignition key sometimes, but when the Rams’ offense gets started, it fires on as many cylinders as any in the NFL. Add head-starts from the defense, and it’s hard to keep up with. In what became a 38-11 victory over the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, the Rams began slugglishly before roaring to life, led by Matthew Stafford and, well, almost everyone else in blue and yellow. Coach Sean McVay couldn’t help thinking about the frustration of the first quarter, when third-down sacks ended both of the Rams’ possessions. “I thought we could be a lot sharper offensively,” McVay said. “We’ve got to start faster. There’s no excuse. We’ve got to be better than that. But we’ll take the win, and I thought guys did a nice job.” When the offense got going, it quickly showed what McVay wishes it could be from the first snap. But you might put it the other way, that the cold start made the eventual combustion all the more...
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Time flies, and so does Taylor Rapp. At age 23, early in his third NFL season, Rapp finds himself an elder statesman in a Rams secondary that gets younger by the season and by the injury. “Our secondary is so young,” Rapp said Sunday. “Our team is so young.” The safety looked like the experienced hand in the Rams’ 38-11 victory over the New York Giants on Sunday, making two heady interceptions to lead the defensive effort. He also enjoyed seeing the results of his offseason mentorship of rookie cornerback Robert Rochell, who made the Rams’ other interception of a pass by Daniel Jones. “I’ve seen him grow so much in front of my eyes,” Rapp said of Rochell. “I got to work out with him all summer. I kind of took him under my wing and tried to push him as much as I could. He’s really answered the bell.” Said Rochell of Rapp: “That’s my brother right there. After I came in, he was the first guy that...
New York Giants: Joe Judge doesn’t dismiss trade deadline activity Cay North October 26, 2021 Share on facebook Facebook Share on twitter Twitter Share on reddit Reddit The New York Giants may be an active team before the trade deadline. The question is whether they’ll land on the buying or the selling side of the fence. Despite coming off a win, the team isn’t in the best position overall. Some of their expected top performers haven’t been up to the standard, and other players have fallen out the lineup through injury. Both factors affect the team’s needs this season, and there’s strong arguments that could be made in favor of the Giants acquiring more talent for this reason. On the other hand, it looks like this roster rebuild has failed. This trade deadline is one of the first chances the Giants have to move on from it. Most of the arguments that the Giants should sell this deadline revolve around that fact. Head coach Joe Judge hasn’t said one way or the other...
New York Giants: Jabrill Peppers placed on IR, out for the year Anthony Rivardo October 26, 2021 Share on facebook Facebook Share on twitter Twitter Share on reddit Reddit The New York Giants have once again lost a key player to an injury. Safety Jabrill Peppers has been placed on injured reserve with a rupture to his ACL, leaving him out for the season. Jabrill is also nursing a high ankle sprain. New York’s defense takes another hit as Jabrill’s season gets cut short. Jabrill Peppers played this season on his fifth-year option, meaning he is a free agent this upcoming offseason. 2021 was a year Jabrill would like to forget as he saw his playing time decrease significantly before this untimely ending to his season. What’s next? With Jabrill Peppers out for the year, the Giants will roll with second-year safety Xavier McKinney as their full-time starter on the backend. McKinney has started six of seven games this season and played 92% of the team’s defensive stats. Playing as the team’s starting...

Why the New York Giants desperately need Daniel Jones to be ‘The Guy’ Alexander Wilson October 26, 2021 Share on facebook Facebook Share on twitter Twitter Share on reddit Reddit The New York Giants are doing everything in their power to avoid another rebuild after bringing on general manager Dave Gettleman to change the course of the franchise in 2018. After drafting Saquon Barkley 2nd overall in his first draft class, the Giants proceeded to finish with losing records for the next three seasons. Big Blue is almost guaranteed to finish with a losing record in 2021 after starting the season 2-5, but there is one positive to harp on as they look to the future, potentially beyond Gettleman and his regime. That positive is quarterback Daniel Jones, who has had the unfortunate luck to feature behind one of the league’s worst offensive lines for three consecutive seasons and experience devastating injuries with his arsenal of weapons. The Giants’ offensive line ranks 29th in the NFL in pass-blocking efficiency, just one year after...
The New York Giants seem to have a starter in Matt Peart Anthony Rivardo October 25, 2021 Share on facebook Facebook Share on twitter Twitter Share on reddit Reddit The New York Giants pulled out a surprising blowout victory against the Carolina Panthers yesterday. The Giants’ offense had a solid performance against Carolina’s defense, thanks in part to a job well done by the offensive line. Second-year offensive tackle Matt Peart stood out on Sunday. After being projected as the starting right tackle all offseason, Matt Peart was listed as the backup right tackle for start of the 2021 regular season. But after Andrew Thomas went down with an injury, Peart stepped in as the team’s starting left tackle while Nate Solder remained the starter at right tackle. Since taking over for Thomas, Peart seems to have turned a corner and etablished himself as a starting-caliber player. Matt Peart vs the Carolina Panthers In Week Six, Matt Peart was the Giants’ starting left tackle against the Los Angeles Rams. He struggled mightily, allowing...
New York Giants: Daniel Jones explains crazy trick play reception Cay North October 24, 2021 Share on facebook Facebook Share on twitter Twitter Share on reddit Reddit The New York Giants came up with a better performance on both sides of the ball in week 7, and one play in specific sums up their improvement on offense. That play is the trick play where wide receiver Dante Pettis tossed the ball to Daniel Jones for a first down on a scoring drive. Dante Pettis says he threw"a dime" to Daniel Jones. Says kiddingly Jones slowed up and thats "a no-no." pic.twitter.com/tN43n0GzUN— Big Blue View (@bigblueview) October 24, 2021 The play is an example of the coaching staff coming up with more creative approaches to the offense compared to earlier in the season, when there were many complaints about the “three downs for 10 yards” style of playcalling. After the game, Daniel Jones himself was naturally asked a few questions about his first career reception. Daniel Jones speaks about his first reception “Yeah,...
New York Giants send scout to watch Kayvon Thibodeaux vs UCLA Cay North October 23, 2021 Share on facebook Facebook Share on twitter Twitter Share on reddit Reddit Barring a miraculous turnaround, this is another season where the New York Giants will have a high pick in the NFL Draft. That pick, depending on how badly the rest of the season goes, could even be one of the very top ones. It seems like the front office has acknowledged that possibility, as the Giants were one of the teams to send a scout to check out potential number one pick Kayvon Thibodeaux. Thibodeaux’s Oregon Ducks took on the UCLA Bruins earlier today, and the defensive end put on another dominating performance. 9 tackles, 3 sacks and a forced fumble proved again why Thibodeaux is one of the top prospects for the upcoming draft. According to Oregon Live, a number of NFL teams had scouts in attendance. Some General Managers went as far as attending the game personally. NFL scouts from the Seattle Seahawks,...
New York Yankees: Could 2022 be the go big year for the Yankees? William Parlee October 23, 2021 Share on facebook Facebook Share on twitter Twitter Share on reddit Reddit 2021 was another disappointing year for the New York Yankees. After several years of not surviving the postseason, this past year, they didn’t make it past the wild card and lost to the rival Boston Red Sox in the winner-take-all game. It has now stretched to over a decade since the Yankees have even been in a World Series contest for the Yankees and their fans. Many marginal fans are ready to discard the Yankees as their team as their frustration boils over. Is it time for the Yankees to finally do something to reverse that trend? Much of this is in the hands of managing partner Hal Steinbrenner who has experienced ever-increasing calls from Yankee fans that he sell the team to someone who will put forth the funds for a team that can bring a 28th World Championship back to New...
New York Giants: John Mara and Jonathan Tisch seen at Friday practice Cay North October 22, 2021 Share on facebook Facebook Share on twitter Twitter Share on reddit Reddit This season, there’s been a lot of calls for the New York Giants’ owners to step up and do something about the state of the team. Many believe that a frustrating pattern has emerged: the Mara family taking a hands-on role in influencing the team’s decisions, but watching things unfold from a distance without taking accountability for the failures. The sentiment that John Mara needs to do more has likely reached its highest point this season as the Giants sit at 1-5 going into their latest game. Fortunately for the fans that are asking for the Maras to do more, things may just be headed in that direction. John Mara and Jonathan Tisch were seen at the practice field on Friday, and reportedly spoke with Joe Judge and Dave Gettleman. Interesting sight coming off today’s practice field: John Mara and Jon Tisch (after...
New York Giants run defense needs to step up on Sunday vs Panthers Anthony Rivardo October 22, 2021 Share on facebook Facebook Share on twitter Twitter Share on reddit Reddit The New York Giants face the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. The Giants (1-5) are playing a superior opponent in the Panthers (3-3). New York has disappointed in every facet of the game this year, but their defense has been an extreme blunder. The New York Giants have invested a great number of assets into their defensive line. Leonard Williams is signed to a mega-contract. Dexter Lawrence is a former first-round pick lining up opposite Williams. Despite these two great talents, the Giants’ defense has struggled mightily to stop the run this season. Blake Martinez, a premiere run-defender and the Giants’ best linebacker, is out for the year after suffering a torn ACL in Week Three. New York has not been able to stop the run effectively since then. However, if the Giants want to beat the Panthers on Sunday, they need their run...
PATERSON, N.J. (CBSNewYork) — Floods from Ida ruined lives for so many people in Paterson. Now, we’re learning that it destroyed the equipment of a youth football team, but it couldn’t destroy the team’s spirit. Thursday, the squad got a big boost from their neighbors in the NFL. READ MORE: 2 Hospitalized After Jumping From Window To Escape House Fire In NewarkIn a year of so many tough times and hard hits, coach Joshua McWilliams has taught his young Passaic County Cougars to push through and persevere. “Life is full of adjustments,” he told CBS2’s Jessica Layton. “We always tell the kids, don’t quit.” But when the remnants of Hurricane Ida plowed through Paterson and flooding destroyed their uniforms and equipment, it was another blow that was tough to bear. “All of our stuff got washed up in the flood,” seventh grader Dahmir Brown said. “They had to use hand-me-downs and stuff that was smelly,” mom Marcy Cruz said. Then Thursday during practice, they got a giant surprise — a $10,000 gift from the New York Giants and Dunkin’ Donuts...
New York Giants: Jabrill Peppers nonchalant about potential trade Cay North October 21, 2021 Share on facebook Facebook Share on twitter Twitter Share on reddit Reddit New York Giants safety Jabrill Peppers didn’t have much to say to the press on Wednesday. Peppers kept his statements to few words, not giving up much that could become sound bite material. That included not giving a strong response leaning one way or the other when asked about the chance of a trade happening. “I just want to win, baby. I want to make plays, go out there and win ball games,” Peppers told reporters when asked if he expects to remain in New York after the trade deadline. At this point, given his contract and given the way the season is going, it looks like trading Peppers is a no-brainer for the Giants. Peppers becomes an unrestricted free agent next year, and the Giants will have to either pay him or lose him for nothing. Based on the current cap situation and Peppers’ declining role...
New York Giants: Eli Manning to have number retired by Ole Miss Cay North October 20, 2021 Share on facebook Facebook Share on twitter Twitter Share on reddit Reddit Retired New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning has had an eventful past year. After spending some time outside of the public eye, Manning has become more of a celebrity presence recently through new ventures such as his gig as an ESPN broadcaster. He was also honored by the Giants this season, as the team retired his number 10 jersey at halftime against the Falcons. It looks like the Ole Miss Rebels, Manning’s college team, are taking after the Giants in that regard. The school is set to use Saturday’s game as a chance to honor Manning in their own way and retire his jersey. A #Celebrat10n youll want to be at.— Ole Miss Football (@OleMissFB) October 20, 2021 The festivities also include a peculiar change to the field design. Ole Miss has shown off pictures of the updated field, which reads ‘MANNING’ across...
New York Giants: Jabrill Peppers seems defeated as playing time decreases Anthony Rivardo October 20, 2021 Share on facebook Facebook Share on twitter Twitter Share on reddit Reddit The New York Giants are once again near the bottom of the NFL. At 1-5, things look dire for the Big Apple’s blue team. Not only are Giants fans feeling defeated, but seemingly the players are, too. Safety Jabrill Peppers seemed visibly and vocally defeated after practice today. Jabrill Peppers: “I just want to win” In 2019, the New York Giants traded away Odell Beckham Jr to the Cleveland Browns. One of the big pieces they got in return was safety Jabrill Peppers. Since then, Peppers has established himself as one of the team’s leaders, earning a captain’s patch two years in a row. In 2020, Jabrill Peppers put together a career year for the Giants. He totaled 91 combined tackles, 2.5 sacks, 8 tackles for loss, and 1 interception. Jabrill was the focal point of New York’s defense. He played 88% of the team’s...
New York Giants: 3 stats that show Dave Gettleman has failed miserably Alexander Wilson October 20, 2021 Share on facebook Facebook Share on twitter Twitter Share on reddit Reddit The New York Giants are staring another top-five draft pick in the face after a 1–5 start to the 2021 season. Aside from a surprising victory over the New Orleans Saints, the Giants have been relatively inefficient against teams that most would consider beatable. Ranging from the Atlanta Falcons to the Washington Football Team, Big Blue had their fair share of opportunities to start the season strong but instead imploded under head coach Joe Judge. The loss of starting left tackle Andrew Thomas to injury will only dampen their probability of winning games. Thomas will sit on injured reserve with an ankle issue for the next three weeks, with the earliest return being week 11 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. At that point in the season, the Giants will be well on their way to another missed postseason opportunity and a premium draft pick....
New York Giants: Andrew Thomas and C.J. Board placed on IR list Cay North October 19, 2021 Share on facebook Facebook Share on twitter Twitter Share on reddit Reddit Injuries have been a major factor for the New York Giants this season, and that trend is continuing as two more players are added to the injured reserve. That duo of players includes one of the pivotal starters on the offensive line, second year tackle Andrew Thomas. Thomas has been placed on the injured reserve along with C.J. Board, and according to league rules will miss a minimum of three games before being eligible to return to the active roster. LT Andrew Thomas (foot/ankle) placed on injured reserve. Will miss at least the next three games. WR/KR C.J. Board (broken arm) heads to injured reserve. His season expected to be over.— Jordan Raanan (@JordanRaanan) October 19, 2021 C.J. Board, on the other hand, won’t have a chance to return this season. His injury, a broken arm, is longer term in scope and won’t be...
New York Yankees make big decision on Aaron Boone’s future Alexander Wilson October 19, 2021 Share on facebook Facebook Share on twitter Twitter Share on reddit Reddit The New York Yankees made a big decision with manager Aaron Boone’s future on Tuesday morning, electing to sign him to a three-year contract through the 2024 season with a club option for 2025. According to the Yankees’ PR: The New York Yankees today announced that they have re-signed Manager Aaron Boone to a three-year contract through the 2024 season with a club option for 2025. It seems as if management believes that Boone was the right man to lead them into the future, despite his shortcomings the past few years, including a Wild Card defeat to the Boston Red Sox this past season. At 48-years-old, Boone has compiled a 328–218 managerial record, and while he’s led them to postseason opportunities in each of his first four seasons, he hasn’t been able to reach the World Series. Most fans would feel some sort of hatred toward...
New York Yankees: Aaron Boone to return for three more years William Parlee October 19, 2021 Share on facebook Facebook Share on twitter Twitter Share on reddit Reddit A familiar face will be returning to the New York Yankees next season and beyond. Sources have confirmed to ESPN the Aaron Boone will remain the Yankee manager for the next three years. After not making it to the World Series in four tries, the Yankee organization felt that Boone had done enough to give him to give it another go. After not even getting past the wild card game this season, many thought that Boone’s time with the Yankees was over, but that is not the case, as we found out this morning. Boone has had two 100 plus seasons, the short season, and this year winning just 92 games, but enough to face the Red Sox in the wild-card game in a game they lost to the Sox 6-2. To read more about the debate to rehire Boone go here. Here is...
3 players the New York Giants should trade to recoup draft capital Alexander Wilson October 19, 2021 Share on facebook Facebook Share on twitter Twitter Share on reddit Reddit The New York Giants are in a state of peril after being embarrassed by the Los Angeles Rams in Week 6. Most would agree the team has hit rock bottom as they sit at 1–5 on the season and have a scary schedule ahead consisting of the Carolina Panthers, Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Raiders, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That is not even to mention the Eagles, Chargers, and Cowboys later on in the season. At this point, management might want to consider being sellers at the trade deadline this year, so let’s take a look at a few players who could be on their way out. Three players the New York Giants should consider trading at the deadline: 1.) Evan Engram Tight end Evan Engram has enjoyed just one game this year with over 30 receiving yards, posting just three receptions for 24...
New York Giants’ nonexistent pass-rushing killing the defense Anthony Rivardo October 18, 2021 Share on facebook Facebook Share on twitter Twitter Share on reddit Reddit The New York Giants got embarrassed at home on Sunday afternoon. The Giants got blown out by the Los Angeles Rams 38-11. New York’s defense struggled tremendously, especially in the pass-rushing department. The New York Giants’ nonexistent pass-rush is killing their defense. While the Giants came away from the game with 2 total sacks, Rams quarterback Matt Stafford stood in the pocket generally untouched. Defensive lineman Leonard Williams recorded both of the Giants’ sacks, but the team’s edge rushers failed to make an impact on Sunday. New York Giants lack of edge pass-rush The New York Giants’ edge rushers are failing on every level. Azeez Ojulari, Lorenzo Carter, and Oshane Ximines are not showing up on Sundays. Not a single one of them recorded a pressure versus the Rams. All three of the Giants’ top edge rushers recorded ZERO pressures on Sunday. In the last two weeks, Ojulari,...
