The Tampa Bay Buccaneers bragged about their “fully vaccinated” team before discovering that wide receiver Antonio Brown used a false vaccine card.  In a sports world full of gambles and predictions, sometimes, people get it wrong. That’s what the Freezing Takes Twitter account was created for: to remind journalists, fans and organizations just how terribly wrong a once-held projection turned out to be. On Dec. 2, the account came for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who told the world on Sept. 2 they had a 100% vaccination rate among players, coaches and staff. pic.twitter.com/Gj5v7ZEqpx — Freezing Cold Takes (@OldTakesExposed) December 2, 2021 With professional athletes refusing the vaccine and many Americans fighting mask mandates, the vaccine rate, if anything, showed that the entire Buccaneers organization takes the COVID-19 pandemic seriously and underwent vaccine treatment to prevent the spread of the virus. That is, of course, except for Antonio Brown and Mike Edwards.Tampa Bay Buccaneers get exposed for freezing cold take on 100% vaccination statusAt the time of the post, both Antonio Brown and Mike Edwards presented vaccine cards to the...

Tampa Bay Buccaneers While it wasn’t a perfect performance offensively, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers managed to do what they needed to in their 30-10 win over the Giants at Raymond James Stadium on Monday night Football. Tampa Bay didn’t run the ball especially well, and Mike Evans had a strange drop that led to a Tom Brady “interception” (if we can even call it that), but the defense stepped up in a major way, taking advantage of the Giants’ inexplicably awful offensive line and poor decision making by quarterback Daniel Jones.  The Bucs forced Jones to throw a pair of head-scratcher interceptions by applying pressure all game and racking up a pair of sacks plus nine QB hits. The secondary wasn’t perfect, but it didn’t need to be against a Giants offense that struggled to move the ball all game. Truth be told, Tampa Bay only really allowed 3 points, as the Giants’ lone touchdown came following the aforementioned interception, which set the Giants’ offense up inside the Bucs 10-yard line early in the game. After that New York touchdown,...
BOSTON (CBS) — When Tom Brady took his talents to Tampa Bay, he was hoping to bring his favorite receiver from New England along with him. But Julian Edelman said no thanks. Edelman joined Peyton and Eli Manning for their ManningCast on Monday Night Football during Monday’s Buccaneers-Giants game, and revealed that it did not take Brady very long to reach out to him after signing with the Buccaneers to make a recruiting pitch. Brady really wanted Edelman by his side in Tampa, and immediately tried to lure him to Florida shortly after signing with the Bucs. That season would end up being his last in the NFL, as Edelman retired during the 2021 offseason after 12 seasons —...
The New York Giants’ lackluster performance in a loss against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers led to questions over the leadership in the front office – namely co-owner John Mara and general manager Dave Gettleman. In a season-low 24 minutes of possession, the Giants scored 10 points on 54 plays and only tallied 215 yards of total offense. The team managed to pick up 15 first downs. Chicago Bears rookie quarterback Justin Fields threw three interceptions and committed five turnovers in a disastrous 38-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday at Raymond James Stadium. A year after the Bears upset the Bucs when Tom Brady lost track of downs on the final drive, the Bears were the ones who left the rematch against the defending Super Bowl champions embarrassed. The Bucs jumped to a 21-0 first-quarter lead and were up 35-3 by halftime. Brady threw four touchdown passes in the first half — including three to wide receiver Mike Evans — and the Bucs’ official Twitter account tweeted the infamous photo of Brady holding up four fingers in the 2020 game in jest. The Bears placed right tackle Elijah Wilkinson on the reserve/COVID-19 list Sunday afternoon — the fifth player to go on the list in 11 days — and started Lachavious Simmons in his place. Simmons was badly overmatched by the Bucs pressure, contributing to the interception Fields threw to Dee Delaney and the fumbles forced by Shaquil Barrett and Jason Pierre-Paul. The Bears...
Perhaps the most depressing thing for the Chicago Bears is that much of the football world saw this disaster coming. And then it happened for all to see in all its gory detail. Sunday’s 38-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium fell into many categories. Lopsided, for one. It was the biggest blowout defeat for the Bears since an infamous 55-14 loss to the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field seven years ago. Ugly? Yep, that description fits, too, after rookie quarterback Justin Fields turned the ball over five times and Bucs star Tom Brady fired four touchdown passes in one of the breeziest victories of his career. Bears linebacker Roquan Smith even called the defeat “embarrassing,” which probably was a generous adjective to pick. And Fields admitted he had no idea what emotions were bubbling inside as his football career hit an unfamiliar low point. “I’ve never been in this position where I’m losing,” he said. “So I don’t know how to feel.” OK. Add confusing to the list. But surprising? Nah. Sunday’s blowout wasn’t...
Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields saw right tackle Elijah Wilkinson studying film in the team hotel with offensive line coach Juan Castillo on Sunday morning. So Fields was caught off guard in the locker room at Raymond James Stadium when he heard Wilkinson wouldn’t be available for Sunday afternoon’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers because he was going on the reserve/COVID-19 list. “I was just surprised,” Fields said. “Because I just saw him 45 minutes ago watching film with Coach Juan, figuring he was going to play. So I mean, that’s the life of the NFL. You just have to have next guy up.” Wilkinson was the fifth Bears player to go on the COVID-19 list in the last 11 days, and his absence proved costly in a 38-3 loss considering the team already was thin on the offensive line because of injuries. The Bears already were without starting right tackle Germain Ifedi, who is on injured reserve with a knee injury. Rookie left tackle Teven Jenkins remains out after back surgery, and rookie tackle...

Covid-19 case rates are dropping nationally but rising in these 5 states England to remove another discriminatory barrier to blood donation The breakup between the New England Patriots and Tom Brady was a news event that launched 1,000 ships. Books have been published, countless articles written, podcasts tape on and on. But for all the talk of how the marriage could have been saved, maybe the parting made sense for everyone. Perhaps Brady privately knew how difficult New England’s skill-position deficit would be, and how badly he needed to land somewhere where he could still thrive. Brady’s not the first New Englander to find salvation down south in his later years. After trying to steer the Patriots' go-cart offense during a disappointing 2019 season, he’s been treated to limousine life with the loaded Buccaneers offense. Last year’s Super Bowl season speaks to that, but Brady’s been much more fantasy-friendly in 2021. Sunday was another case in point, as the Buccaneers pasted the Dolphins, 45-17. Although we live in a fantasy era dominated by mobile quarterbacks, Brady raced to the...
By Michael Hurley, CBS Boston BOSTON (CBS) — Stephon Gilmore once won a Super Bowl while sharing a locker room with Tom Brady. It’s probably time for him to give it another whirl. READ MORE: Former Trolley Operator Owen Turner Due In Court For July Green Line CrashThe former All-Pro corner and 2019 Defensive Player of the Year was released on Wednesday, ending a drawn-out contract dispute which Gilmore appears to have ultimately won. The team advanced him some money on his 2020 salary, likely with some promise — firm, light, or somewhere in between — that the 2021 salary would eventually get taken care of. It never did, Gilmore nursed a quadriceps injury, and now he’s gone, free to sign with any team he wants. And frankly, it would be weird if he doesn’t want any team other than the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And it would be doubly weird if that feeling weren’t reciprocated by the defending champs. For as much as Tampa celebrated “running it back” with all 22 starters from last year’s Super Bowl returning to the team...

(Photo by Joe Sargent/Getty Images) With a rapidly-depleting secondary, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers must trade for a talented cornerback — and soon — before the Nov. 2 trade deadline.  The Tampa Bay Buccaneers stunned with their all-22 signing this offseason, and they did it again when they plucked Richard Sherman out of free agency this week. Tom Brady has proven to be quite the recruiter, bringing in offensive weapons like Rob Gronkowski and Antonio Brown, but he’s now moved on to recruiting defensive players like Sherman. To dash Buccaneers hopes of “running it back” is the ultimate obstacle in 2021: the Buccaneers do not have any semblance of a secondary. While Sherman joined the Bucs on-field after just a few days with the playbook, cornerback Carlton Davis III was sidelined with a worrying quad injury in the first quarter of “The Return”. Safety Antoine Winfield Jr. sat out...
Patriots coach Steve Belichick sparked hilarity after he was captured sticking his tongue out and grimacing during a game broadcast Sunday night.  Belichick, 34, went viral after making a bunch of odd expressions during the Week 4 game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New England Patriots. He was seen sticking his tongue out and then wagging it from side to side before making a peculiar grimace to the camera.  The Patriots assistant coach is the son of head coach Bill Belichick, who was also seen about an hour before picking his teeth with a pencil. The younger Belichick's reactions, however, became the highlight of the night as memes and hysterical tweets were shared on social media.   Patriots assistant coach Steve Belichick, 34, was captured making 'confusing' expressions on the sidelines of Sunday night's game He was seen sticking his tongue out and wagging it before making a peculiar grimace onscreen Some noted that Belichick looked like he had a 'hungry' expression   'Me staring into my fridge at 2am,' Barstool Sports had jokingly tweeted. FOXBORO (CBS) — Considering Antonio Brown was signed and released by the Patriots within a two-week span, one might assume that the wide receiver has not-so-fond memories of that time in his life. But one should never assume when it comes to the feelings of AB. The receiver spoke to the media on Sunday night after his Buccaneers edged the Patriots 19-17. In a game sold as a homecoming for Tom Brady, it also marked the first game for Brown in New England since his September 2019 signing and release by the Patriots. That 11-day tenure with the team is something that Brown holds dearly in his memory, largely for seeing and experiencing the work of Bill Belichick firsthand. Tonight, the Patriots could be throwing at Sherman early and often and repeatedly. Hall of Fame receiver Michael Irvin expressed the point bluntly on NFL Network earlier in the hour, given the news that Sherman will start for the Buccaneers tonight. “We are not expressing how difficult and how crazy it is to say, ‘Oh yeah, we just signed Richard Sherman off the street. This is a team game. Teams win and lose, not individually.” Arians is right; this is a significant moment in Brady’s career, but for the Buccaneers it’s just Week Four on the schedule. Veteran cornerback Richard Sherman announced that he is signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. On Wednesday morning, Richard Sherman announced on the Richard Sherman Podcast that he’s decided to sign with the defending-champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He accredited Tom Brady’s recruitment and their relationship as one of the biggest reasons why. The reason Brady was adamant in his recruitment of Sherman is because he knows what’s necessary to win a Super Bowl. That’s why he left New England for Tampa Bay and recruited Rob Gronkowski, Antonio Brown and Leonard Fournette to join him. That is why Brady rang Sherman’s phone after watching his defense struggle against the pass the first three weeks of the season.
