Photo by Peter Klaunzer – Pool/Keystone via Getty Images The White House announced on Saturday that President Joe Biden will speak to Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday over a “secure video call.” The two leaders last met in July. According to the White House, the pair “will discuss a range of topics in the U.S.-Russia relationship, including strategic stability, cyber, and regional issues.” “President Biden will underscore U.S. concerns with Russian military activities on the border with Ukraine and reaffirm the United States’ support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine,” the statement added. While U.S. officials have stressed that Putin’s intentions around Ukraine are unclear, an unclassified intelligence document recently detailed the Russian military building up its troop and equipment presence near the border. Biden responded to the possibility of Russia invading Ukraine, telling reporters on Friday that “we’ve been aware of Russia’s actions for a long time, and my expectation is we’re going to have a long discussion.” Reuters reported that the Kremlin said the video call will include discussing “bilateral relations, of course Ukraine, and the...
LAS VEGAS — The head of Pac-12 football operations on Friday offered a largely positive assessment of the conference’s officiating performance in 2021. “We have work to do, but this is not the same unit it was a few years ago,” said Merton Hanks, who is completing his second season as the senior associate commissioner for football operations. “We are not the same.” Hanks has not taken a deep dive into the officiating analytics — that process will unfold over the winter — but he offered two data points and several opinions on the state of officiating prior to the Pac-12 championship game at Allegiant Stadium. Hanks joined the conference in Sept. 2020 and spent the bulk of his first fall navigating the COVID disruptions. But this season unfolded smoothly, with no games affected by wildfire smoke and only one (Cal-USC) impacted by COVID. That allowed Hanks and his deputy, associate commissioner for football operations Shonna Brown, to focus on the traditional responsibilities, with officiating a key component. Although there were numerous instances of questionable calls and irate coaches, Pac-12...

Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons was called for roughing the passer, after Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr fell into him. Dallas Cowboys fans had to be dealing with heartburn on Thursday night, and it had nothing to do with Thanksgiving dinner. Rather, it had to do with the calls by officials during their Thanksgiving game against the Las Vegas Raiders. Dallas fans were no doubt furious about one penalty in particular. In the second half, Cowboys rookie linebacker Micah Parsons was called for a roughing the passer penalty. But upon further replay, the flag was thrown after Raiders quarterback Derek Carr…fell right into Parson’s hand and knee. Take a look for yourselves in the video below. “Forcible” contact is obviously subjective but I would put this in the “glancing” category rather than “forcible”. https://t.co/Vq2yzm60NK — Terry McAulay (@SNFRules) November 26, 2021 Micah Parsons called for questionable roughing the passer penalty vs. Raiders That penalty turned out to be costly for Dallas, as it turned an 11-yard reception by Hunter Renfrow into a 26-yard gain with the penalty. Author and journalist Molly Jong-Fast said on Wednesday, that after being “dragged” on Twitter for a joke in one of her recent articles, “she had to call the FBI because of all the death threats I’m getting.” Jong-Fast, the daughter of feminist icon Erica Jong, noted that her need to call the FBI was “ironic,” given the fact that the quip in her article entitled “Deprogramming Your Relatives This Thanksgiving” read: “Maybe you will change a heart of mind. Or maybe you’ll need to report a relative to the FBI.” Mediaite reached out to Jong-Fast for comment and she confirmed that she had been getting “a lot of death threats” and had indeed reported them to the FBI. “It’s so scary,” she said, reiterating again that it was a joke “and it was meant to be funny.” The article, the subhead of which has since been changed, was from Jong-Fast’s newly launched newsletter for The Atlantic. Jong-Fast emphasized that the comment about calling the FBI was meant as a joke and not a suggestion that anyone should actually call...
'Stop the Steal' organizers used hard-to-trace 'burner' phones to call members of the Trump family and a top White House official as they planned the January 6 rally at the Ellipse outside the White House, a new report says.  Rolling Stone reported Tuesday that Kylie Kremer, the founder and executive director of Women For America First, directed an aide to pick up three burner phones using cash that she used to communicate with Eric and Lara Trump, White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows and Trump campaign consultant Katrina Pierson.  'They were planning all kinds of stuff, marches and rallies. Eleven U.S. Senate Democrats have called on President Joe Biden to do something about rising gas prices while also expressing support for policies that energy industry says are contributing to seven-year high costs at the pump, including oil and gas tax increases embedded in the Build Back Better Act. The 11 senators wrote this month that they support the president’s commitment to the development of “clean renewable energy” but “must ensure that Americans are able to afford to fill up their cars at the pump in the meantime.” The average cost for a gallon of gasoline Friday was $3.41 a gallon, according to AAA. That's $1.20 more a gallon than this time last year. Under the Trump administration, the U.S. led the world in oil production and was energy independent. Under the Biden administration, gas prices are the highest they’ve been since 2014 within eleven months of him taking office. In their home states, the Democratic senators write, “high gasoline prices have placed an undue burden on families and small businesses trying to make ends meet, and have proven especially...
Baker Mayfield’s wife Emily may have just called out the Cleveland Browns over Instagram. Though the Cleveland Browns got a win on Sunday, starting quarterback Baker Mayfield is under fire just a bit for his bad play of late. It is well-documented that Mayfield is really beat up this season. He is not close to 100 percent, but it has impacted is play in recent weeks. Given that Cleveland had Super Bowl aspirations to start the year, much of the team’s disappointing play falls on their quarterback. The Browns are still alive for a playoff berth, but this team is not poised for a deep postseason run in the slightest. Former Covington Catholic High School student Nick Sandmann offered sympathy and advice to Kyle Rittenhouse amid speculation that the recently acquitted teenager could file defamation lawsuits against media organizations that labeled him a white supremacist. Sandmann, who was also labeled a racist and a white supremacist when he was confronted by a Native American activist in 2019, told Fox News’s Sean Hannity Friday that being castigated by the media “unfortunately makes you grow up in a lot of ways.” 'IF THAT'S NOT SELF DEFENSE, NOTHING IS:' TRUMP CONGRATULATES RITTENHOUSE ON ACQUITTAL “I think he should sue the media, but it’s really a personal call that’s up to him,” said Sandmann, who recently settled defamation lawsuits with CNN and the Washington Post and has six more in the works. “In January, it will be three years since everything happened at the March for Life, and I’m still looking at another two years until the cases that go to trial are resolved, so it’s really a personal call.” Sandmann said that while he would like to see...
A young woman who was 17-years-old when she escaped her home and called the cops on her abusive parents describes the 911 call that freed her 12 siblings from captivity in a trailer for an upcoming interview.  'Um hello? The 2018 call and its aftermath will be the subject of an ABC 20/20 interview set to air Friday. It’s been a terrible couple of weeks for officiating in the NFL, and the referees doubled down in the Saints-Titans game. The Saints made a critical red zone interception that would’ve taken points off the board in what’s been a close game thus far in the first half. Instead, New Orleans was called for roughing the passer, with the officials yet again potentially interfering with the end result. This negated an interception. South Bay Asian American leaders are calling on Cupertino Vice Mayor Liang Chao to apologize for a series of comments she made that they believe appear to defend the Chinese Exclusion Act. The vice mayor, however, says her words are being taken out of context. In an email thread among Cupertino Union School District parents about critical race theory, Chao wrote, “the Chinese Exclusion Act was not even based on race, since only Chinese laborers are excluded.” “It was really a labor issue where American laborers wish to keep cheaper Chinese laborers out, for good reasons,” Chao said in a Nov. 5 email shared with this news organization. “We are doing similar things today, through the H1 visa process. We don’t want to give work visas to people that will take American jobs.” The Chinese Exclusion Act, which was signed into law by President Chester A. Arthur in 1882, prohibited Chinese workers from immigrating to the U.S. and banned all Chinese immigrants from becoming U.S. citizens. Chao says she was using the “Chinese Exclusion Act as an example to show that critical...

The select committee investigating the January 6 Capitol riot sent new subpoenas on Monday to six Trump allies and advisers involved in the ex-president's plot to try and overturn the 2020 election results. Those called to testify before the panel are Jason Miller, William Stepien, Michael Flynn, Angela McCallum, John Eastman and Bernard Kerik. 'These six individuals include staff members of the former President's campaign and individuals associated with the so-called 'war room' that drove efforts to halt the counting of electoral votes in the runup to the violence of January 6th,' the committee tweeted in announcing the subpoenas. The committee's chairman, Representative Bennie Thompson said in a Monday statement that he expects all witnesses to cooperate with the subpoenas – weeks after Steve Bannon refused to comply with a subpoena from the committee for his testimony. Attorney General Merrick Garland still wouldn't say on Monday if he will force Bannon to comply with testifying after the House in October voted him in contempt of Congress and referred his case to the Justice Department. It is unclear whether the panel,...
(CNN)President Joe Biden ramped up the pressure on his Capitol Hill allies on Friday, calling on the House to pass both his massive infrastructure bill and sweeping climate and social safety net bill "right now.""Passing these bills will say clearly to the American people, 'We hear your voices. We're going to invest in your hopes, help you secure a brighter future for yourself and your family and make sure America wins the future in the process.' I'm asking every House member, member of the House of Representatives to vote yes on both these bills right now. Send the infrastructure bill to my desk, send the Build Back Better bill to the Senate," he said at the White House during remarks on October's jobs report. Biden's public statement -- one of his most explicit public exhortations for Democrats to get his agenda over the finish line -- comes as there's yet another crucial day playing out in the Capitol. Democratic leaders started the day convinced that they would be passing Biden's $1.9 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill, but as House moderates are...
There are some potentially serious problems with the “unvaccinated-Aaron Rodgers-has-COVID-19” story, so let’s get the funny business out of the way first. When reporters asked the Green Bay Packers quarterback back in August whether he’d been vaccinated, he replied, “Yeah, I’ve been immunized.” Not exactly. Rodgers may have won “Celebrity Jeopardy!” a half-dozen years ago, but he’s no more a medical doctor than Julius Erving was. Otherwise, he would have known better. So be charitable and give Rodgers the benefit of the doubt. Assume he really believed whatever cockamamie home remedy some friend whipped up afforded him the same immunity against the virus as the vaccine. But that’s not what he said. And what he said next sure made it sound that by “immunized” Rodgers meant he’d gotten the jab. “There’s guys on the team that haven’t been vaccinated. I think it’s a personal decision,” he added. “I’m not going to judge those guys.” That helps explain why most people were surprised by reports Wednesday that Rodgers tested positive, which can happen to anyone, but even more surprised...
Larry Sabato with the UVA Center of Politics appeared on MSNBC Tuesday night to analyze the incoming election results, and while he would not call it a blowout for Republicans over Democrats, the word “bloodbath” made a handy substitute. After anchor Rachel Maddow asked him for “the story” on the Virginia gubernatorial race between Democrat Terry McAuliffe and Republican Glenn Youngkin, Sabato laid it out there pretty plainly. “The story is — I’m not going to call it a blowout because we don’t have the final numbers. But I will tell you somebody high up in McAuliffe’s camp, who was there with McAuliffe put it this way to me about an hour ago. ‘It’s a bloodbath,'” said Sabato with a somewhat shellshocked delivery. ” “So far, everything we’ve seen pretty much falls along that line,” he said. “And while we don’t have complete figures, anything close to complete figures for the House of Delegates, you can guess based on what I’ve just said.” Watch the clip above via MSNBC Have a tip we should know? tips@mediaite.com

Ozzie Albies had what appeared to be an easy out and potential double play but he dropped the ball and everyone was ruled safe. Did the Braves get screwed? Game 2 was not going well for the Atlanta Braves in almost every capacity. The Astros jumped on them early and they couldn’t get much of anything going thereafter. Looking to try and keep the bleeding at bay in the bottom of the sixth, there was a groundball to Dansby Swanson that appeared like it could result in a double play if they made the turn quickly with Ozzie Albies covering second base. Swanson made a nice play but, after the throw hit Albies in the glove, it appeared as if he mishandled the transfer. Of all the changes that have occurred over the last several months, though, the Beantowners’ coaching switcheroo was arguably the biggest. While Brad Stevens is navigating shark-infested waters as a first-time team president, its up to his replacement on the sidelines, Ime Udoka, to actually put all the pieces together on the court. Despite the enormity of it all — not to mention the fact that the Celtics post is Udoka’s first NBA head-coaching gig — the former player and longtime assistant was apparently all chill when he got hired. At the least, that’s what his partner, actress Nia Long, observed. In an October 25 interview with PopCulture, Long spoke out on Udoka getting the call and how she feels about the job change.Udoka’s Understated Reaction Play Nia Long — I Love My NBA Fiance So Much … I Want Him To Lose |...

FURIOUS republicans have told Meghan Markle to “stick to acting” following her “politically motivated” letter to Congress. The Duchess of Sussex, 40, wrote a lengthy plea to two Democratic lawmakers in Washington DC on Thursday in which she advocated for paid family leave. 5Meghan Markle has been blasted by Republicans for her latest 'interference' in politicsCredit: Getty 5The Duchess of Sussex sent a letter to Congress on ThursdayCredit: Getty But now incensed politicians have hit back at Megan for daring to “intervene” in US politics – even calling on the Queen to strip the royal of her titles. In a rant to the Mail Online, Republican Jason Smith, who represents Missouri, said: “Ms. Markle's latest interference in U.S. politics reignites the question in my mind as to why the Royal Family does not simply strip her and Harry officially of their titles, particularly since she insists on sending this under the pretence of being the Duchess of Sussex. Royal experts had previously called her letter, addressed to Democrats Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi, a “first try” for the Duchess to move...
Bystanders chose to record a horrific incident instead of reporting it last week when a woman was raped for about eight minutes and harassed for over 40 minutes on the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) train. According to police officials, despite there being multiple passengers witnessing the incident, only one person chose to call 911 during the attack—an off-duty SEPTA employee. “I’m appalled by those who did nothing to help this woman,” Timothy Bernhardt, the superintendent of the Upper Darby Township Police Department, said on Sunday. “Anybody that was on that train has to look in the mirror and ask why they didn’t intervene or why they didn’t do something.” The off-duty employee’s call allowed Transit Police officers to arrive three minutes later, interrupt the assault, and arrest the alleged rapist, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported. While the off-duty employee used quick thinking and reported the incident as soon as they saw it, the incident could have been stopped earlier had other passengers called instead of recording the incident. “We want everyone to be angry, disgusted, and to join us in being resolute...
The Buffalo Bills elected to go for fourth-and-1 rather than kick a game-tying field goal. They were unsuccessful and lost to the Titans in Week 6. Monday Night Football delivered one heck of a game in Week 6 with the Buffalo Bills visiting the Tennessee Titans. The two AFC foes were trading haymakers throughout the night with Josh Allen and his team pulling out all the stops and Derrick Henry continuing to be unstoppable for Tennessee. Henry’s third touchdown of the night gave the Titans a 34-31 lead with just three minutes on the clock, but that appeared to be enough time for some heroics by Allen and the Bills. And indeed, he drove Buffalo down the field and got them deep into Tennessee territory. After a will run that sent the quarterback airborne was (rightly) ruled short of the line to gain, though, head coach Sean McDermott faced a tough decision. Go for it on fourth down to try and win in regulation or kick the field goal to likely force overtime? McDermott put his faith in Allen and went...
I took a spam caller for a trip Monday afternoon. While sitting at my computer building an empire as I often do, my phone went off with a number I didn’t recognize. (REVIEW: ‘Yellowstone’ Ends Season 3 With One Of The Greatest Cliffhangers In TV History) Shortly after answering, I was informed that warrants had been issued for my arrest on drug trafficking charges. Obviously, I knew it was a spam call immediately, and decided to have some fun with them. How did I have fun with them? I recapped the first episode of “Yellowstone” and pretended it was my actual life. Fire it up below and enjoy. A person pretending to be a fed called me claiming I was wanted on serious drug trafficking charges. I proceeded to recap the first episode of @Yellowstone as if it was my real life and my non-existent brother and brother-in-law had died in a shootout over cattle.
