Milwaukee Black Lives Matter activist Vaun Mayes speculated Sunday that the Christmas parade massacre in Waukesha, Wisconsin, could be a harbinger of “revolution” — then backed off the sentiment days later as more information came out about the case. “I don’t know. Now we’ll have to wait and see because they do have somebody in custody. We may have to wait and see what they say about why this happened,” Mayes said of the deadly parade incident during Facebook Live stream on Sunday evening (archive here), as lights from first responders’ vehicles flicker on his face. “But it sounds possible that the revolution has started in Wisconsin. A Texas teenager who struck six cyclists in his modified pick-up truck has been charged with aggravated assault six weeks after the incident. The 16-year-old, who has not been named as he is a juvenile, is accused of 'rolling coal,' or billowing smoke from his exhaust pipe, as he passed the cyclists on Old Highway 290 in Waller City on September 25, before he swerved into the crowd and stuck six of them. Four were sent to the hospital in the aftermath - two by airlift. Three of the victims continue to face serious injuries six weeks later. But the suspect was not arrested at the scene, sparking nationwide criticism of the police department, as residents accused the officers on the scene of preferential treatment for the teenager's connection to Waller City officials. The police department has denied these claims, and on Monday, the Waller County District Attorney's Office announced that the driver would be charged with six counts of aggravated assault, one count for each cyclist injured. He surrendered after the charges were brought, the District Attorney's Office noted,...
(CNN)The first police officer to respond to the shooting of Ahmaud Arbery near Brunswick, Georgia, testified in court Monday he did not render first aid to Arbery due to the danger of the situation as well as his lack of medical training and equipment.Former Glynn County Police Officer Ricky Minshew said when he arrived at the scene of the shooting on February 23, 2020, his immediate focus was on officer safety. Eleven need-to-knows for Week 10 of the Pac-12 football season … 1. The South’s last stand comes Friday night, courtesy of a team from the North. If Utah wins at Stanford Stadium — and Utah has never lost at Stanford Stadium — the South race is effectively over. With their tiebreaker advantage included, the Utes (4-1 in conference play) would hold a two-game lead over Arizona State and a three-game lead on UCLA and USC with just three games left. And two of Utah’s remaining dates are against South cellar dwellers Colorado and Arizona. Win at Stanford, and the Utes could afford a loss to Oregon; they would clinch the division with victories over the Buffaloes (2-6) and Wildcats (0-8). And that’s presuming Arizona State wins out. If the Sun Devils (3-2) were to lose again — they visit Washington and Oregon State on back-to-back Saturdays in the middle of the month — then Utah’s margin for error would expand. The Utes have built their advantage the hard way, with four wins over teams with .500-or-better records in league play:...
“Sopranos” creator David Chase has officially revealed Tony’s fate. The hit HBO show ended with Tony and his family getting dinner in a diner and the screen cut to black without confirming whether or not he was alive. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football) The ending is widely-considered one of the most polarizing endings in the history of television. Well, after years and years of debate, Chase has put to rest whether or not Tony died. During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Chase was asked if a previous reference about it being a “death scene” was a “slip of the tongue.” “No,” Chase told THR. He then further explained, “Because the scene I had in my mind was not that scene. Nor did I think of cutting to black. I had a scene in which Tony comes back from a meeting in New York in his car. At the beginning of every show, he came from New York into New Jersey, and the last scene could be him coming from New Jersey back into...
Harrowing new footage and images have emerged of the moment an actor of Russia's legendary Bolshoi Theatre was killed on Saturday by a piece of the set. The clip shows a huge backdrop being lowered onto the stage behind the actors during a scene change, but Yevgeny Kulesh, 37, somehow became trapped underneath the backdrop and was subsequently crushed to death. A man can be heard shouting while the orchestra continues to play, before the music cuts off abruptly and the cast break out into screams at the sight of the accident.   The incident occurred during a set change early in a performance of Sadko, a 19th century opera by Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov.  The theatre said Yevgeny Kulesh, who had been with the theatre since 2002, died at the scene as the audience was promptly ushered out of the performance hall.  Moscow's Investigative Committee said in a statement that it was probing the death of the 38-year-old performer, while former Bolshoi theatre actors have condemned the working conditions at the world-famous venue.

Perhaps the fifth missile of the afternoon arcs over the top of the enclosure. Again a miss, but they are getting closer. This one hits the wooden platform upon which the magnificent white lion is dozing in the warm sunshine. ‘Hey!’ shouts the stone thrower at the lion. Then to his companions: ‘Is he sleeping? Is he alive? Is he even real?’ Two aspects of this scene strike one as unusual if not shocking in the context of a 21st century zoological gardens. The first is that the helpless lion is being pelted by visitors. The second is that the visiting public are wandering about the zoo armed to the teeth with assault rifles, and even belt-fed light machine guns. Prior to an interview with Vice President Kamala Harris, both Navarro and Sunny Hostin had to abruptly head backstage. Navarro told Anderson Cooper she’s “feeling great” and described what ensued as “like an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm.” She explained how often she gets tested and what the procedures are at the daytime talk show. Cooper played the video of her and Hostin having to leave the stage, and Navarro explained they learned about the tests while on air. Navarro said she went backstage and had no contact with Vice President Kamala Harris. She commended the VP’s team for figuring out a way to do the interview safely. She made a point of saying the first test may have been a false positive (she’s since tested negative and is awaiting the results of another test.) You can watch above, via CNN. Socialite Jasmine Hartin's full dramatic account of how a Belizean police chief was shot dead as they enjoyed a moonlight drink together is revealed for the first time today in The Mail on Sunday. The partner of Lord Ashcroft's son accidentally killed her friend, Superintendent Henry Jemmott, with his own gun as he drunkenly tried to teach her to use it, The Mail on Sunday has learned.  As Ms Hartin's story is disclosed for the first time, sources close to the investigation have told this newspaper: Bullets found at the scene convinced prosecutors her claim she had been practising unloading and loading Supt Jemmott's semi-automatic police-issue Glock 17 handgun were true; Traffic police pulled over a 'highly intoxicated' Jemmott that day as he swerved around the island on a golf cart; The superintendent was on holiday, sharing a hotel room with a man who once stood trial for murder; A court's decision to refuse Ms Hartin's bail – keeping her locked up in Belize's most notorious jail – is 'politically motivated' and designed to assuage the public who are 'baying...

Believe it or not, it's been a decade since the outlandish comedy "Bridesmaids" opened in theaters and became a trailblazer for woman-led comedies. Starring Kristen Wiig (who cowrote the movie with Annie Mumolo) as Annie, a down-on-her-luck baker trying to plan a wedding for her best friend, Lillian (Maya Rudolph), despite being broke and competing for bestie status with Lillian's other friend Helen (Rose Byrne), the movie is as entertaining to watch now as when it opened 10 years ago. From the gross-out dress-fitting scene to Annie's hilarious drunken breakdown on the flight to Las Vegas, the movie hits comedic grand slams for two hours straight. And then there's Melissa McCarthy's performance as the outlandish Megan, which catapulted her to instant fame and an Oscar nomination. Director Paul Feig told Insider that he got involved with the film in 2006 after getting a call from friend and producer Judd Apatow, who wanted him to attend a table read for a script Wiig had written. A revamped version of Disneyland's famed Snow White ride is drawing backlash for portraying the 'true love's kiss' scene, which critics say undermines lessons about consent by portraying the Prince kissing Snow White while she is asleep. The theme park in Anaheim, California reopened on Friday after shutting down for more than a year in the pandemic, and featured a significant overhaul of the classic Snow White ride. Previously focusing on the wicked Queen and known as 'Snow White's Scary Journey,' the updated ride takes a more lighthearted approach to the tale, and features fresh animatronics and all-new scenes. The ride now culminates in the 'true love's kiss' scene, in which the Prince, believing Snow White to be dead, kisses her, breaking the Queen's curse that had put her into a deep trance.   The revamped Snow White ride at Disneyland (above) now concludes with the 'true love's kiss' scene, drawing concern from critics that it undermines lessons about consent In the 1937 film (above), the Prince, believing Snow White to be dead, kisses her, breaking the Queen's curse that...

Indonesia's military and family members today paid their last respects to the 53 submariners who died when their vessel sank during torpedo drills off the coast of Bali.  Grieving relatives and sailors in ceremonial dress were seen casting flowers into the waters off Bali from the navy's Soeharso hospital ship. The KRI Nanggala 402 disappeared last week shortly after it dived below the surface during torpedo-firing exercises. An official cause has not yet been determined. Authorities have vowed to recover the sub from the seabed but are awaiting the arrival of a Chinese naval vessel capable of hauling objects from 3,000ft below.  High-powered magnets and air balloons are among a number of options on the table, but how the 1,400 ton sub loaded with missiles will be hauled to the surface remains unclear.   Relatives and colleagues throw flowers to pay tribute to the crew members of a sunken submarine KRI Nanggala during a ceremony on board the Indonesian Navy ship KRI Soeharso in the waters off Bali Families of the sunken KRI Nanggala-402 submarine crew members mourn during a visit at...
Arizona man Kevin Johnson was arrested after police connected him to a severed finger that was found at the scene of the crime, which was obviously no longer connected to Johnson. The strange story began when Maricopa resident Francesca Wikoff found a severed finger in her driveway and two of her tires slashed on the morning of April 15. As a local news report noted, Wikoff said she had recently argued with her neighbor after he crashed a party at her house, and that a trail of blood led directly to Johnson’s house. “You would think if you are going to the hospital, especially if you just sever your finger off, that you would take said finger with you,” Wikoff told KTVK. Even with that trail of evidence, it wasn’t until nearly a week later that police arrested Johnson. On Sunday, KTVK reported: A man accused of slashing his neighbor’s tires and cutting his own finger off in the process has officially been charged. Police say that Kevin Johnson invited himself over to a neighbor’s party, but when a fight...
Bounty hunter Khalil Abdullah, 51, was arrested on aggravated assault and deadly weapons charges on April 15 Three bounty hunters allegedly broke down a Nashville man's door and held him at gunpoint before realizing the person they were looking for didn't live there.   The terrifying incident unfolded on February 8 when Khalil Abdullah and two men who worked for his company, Matador Recovery, charged into the home of Lavaris Comer looking for a man named 'Tavaris', according to a police report obtained by DailyMail.com.    The men allegedly knocked Comer to the ground and pointed their guns at him while ignoring his insistence that he was not the man they were looking for.   The bounty hunters' true target - 'Tavaris' - had allegedly failed to show up in court.    They eventually realized they were in the wrong house and fled the scene before Comer called police and reported their license plate number.  More than two months later Abdullah, 51, was arrested on April 15 and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated criminal trespass in connection with the incident. The...
