SEATTLE (AP) — Russell Wilson played his best game since returning from finger surgery throwing for 231 yards and two touchdowns, and the Seattle Seahawks made a late goal line stand to beat the San Francisco 49ers 30-23 on Sunday. Seattle (4-8) snapped a three-game losing streak but it wasn’t easy as a number of mistakes gave the 49ers a chance for a tying touchdown in the final moments. Gerald Everett fumbled at the San Francisco 2 with 4:03 remaining and Seattle on the cusp of a clinching score. Jimmy Garoppolo led the 49ers 95 yards to the Seattle 3. But his third-down pass for Trent Sherfield was broken up by Sidney Jones, and his fourth- down pass was deflected at the line of scrimmage by Carlos Dunlap. The Detroit Lions finally found a victory when Jared Goff threw an 11-yard touchdown pass to Amon-Ra St. Brown as time expired, lifting the previously winless team to a 29-27 win over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. Not only was the finish dramatic, it was stunning. Goff led the Lions on a decisive 75-yard possession without a timeout after Kirk Cousins threw a go-ahead, 3-yard touchdown pass to Justin Jefferson with 1:50 left. The Vikings failed on a 2-point conversion for the third time; those missed opportunities proved costly. Goff threw two touchdown passes in the first half to put the Lions ahead by 14, their biggest lead this season. Then he turned over the ball twice in the second half to help the Vikings rally. He came through in the end, leading the long drive and delivering a sharp pass to St. Brown, who took advantage of the Vikings secondary playing too deep in the end zone. CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Pittsburgh’s Kenny Pickett set two passing records in the first half of the Atlantic Coast Conference championship game on Saturday night. Pickett’s first touchdown pass of the game, a 22-yard toss on a swing pass to Rodney Hammond in the first quarter, broke Dan Marino’s school record of 79 career TD passes. Pickett’s second TD pass, a 4-yard toss to Jared Wayne in the second quarter on a slant route, established an ACC record for touchdown passes in a season with 42, eclipsing the mark of 41 set by Clemson’s Deshaun Watson in 2016. The Heisman Trophy candidate also ran for a 58-yard touchdown. ___ More AP college football: https://apnews.com/hub/college-football and https://twitter.com/AP_Top25. HOUSTON — It was the definition of a team win for Gang Green. The offense was balanced, and the defense played lights out and the end result was a 21-14 win over the lousy Houston Texans. Zach Wilson had a pedestrian day in his return to action as he went 14-for-24 for 145 yards with a rushing touchdown and an interception. Wilson wasn’t happy with his performance but elated for the victory. “Feels really good,” Wilson said. “I wasn’t happy with how I performed. Just the ups and downs of it all. I gotta just keep going, it’s all part of the process. it feels really good to go home having a win. That’s the goal, to win the game.” It was Wilson’s first game in a month, but the former BYU quarterback refused to blame his lackluster play on rust. “I don’t blame anything on that,” Wilson said. “There’s no excuses. You got to really come out and play well.” Late in the fourth quarter, Wilson appeared to tweak his knee on a scramble...
SANTA CLARA — The Minnesota Vikings kept alive their streak of holding at least a 7-point lead in every single game this season. A reminder: they’re only 5-5, so a 49ers’ comeback was predictable, and the teams are tied 14-14 at halftime. The 49ers pulled even with a Jauan Jennings touchdown catch 18 seconds before intermission. Minnesota, by the way, is 0-4 when jumping out to a 7-0 lead. This game’s 7-0 lead evaporated when Deebo Samuel scored on a 20-yard touchdown run, Adam Thielen’s second touchdown put the Vikings ahead 14-7 in the second quarter. JIMMY G HEATING UP? Jimmy Garoppolo will have to buck some dire history today, after having a third-and-12 pass intercepted on the 49ers’ opening series. The 49ers are 0-4 in games in which Garoppolo gets intercepted. He had no passes intercepted in the 49ers’ past four wins. Garoppolo certainly finished the first half in productive style: a 24-yard, third-down conversion to Brandon AIyuk set up a 3-yard touchdown pass to Jennings; that 15-play, 85-yard drive lasted 8:20. Zach Wilson had a pedestrian day in his return to action as he went 14-for-24 for 145 yards with a rushing touchdown and an interception. But the run game was dominant and put up 157 yards of offense. The Jets averaged 4.6 yards per carry, led by Tevin Coleman who ran for 67 yards. Austin Walter scored a touchdown. The defense held the Texans to 202 yards and 14 points. Bryce Hall sealed the victory with a pass breakup on 4th-and-2 with two minutes remaining. A total difference compared to what the defense showed in the previous five games. It was needed as the rookie quarterback shook off the rust from missing four games with a sprained knee. And out the gate, Wilson struggled. He looked jittery in the pocket, was inaccurate on a few of his throws that resulted in...
FOXBORO (CBS) — It’s hard to draw up a better start than the one the Patriots got off to in Week 12 against the Tennessee Titans. The defense forced a three-and-out to start the game, and then Mac Jones led the offense down a short field into the end zone. After Matt Judon ended Tennessee’s first possession with a third-down sack on Ryan Tannehill, Jones and company thanked the defense for a short field. With the drive starting at the Tennessee 37, the Pats offense marched to the end zone on nine plays. The drive ended with Jones finding Kendrick Bourne in the back of the end zone on a third-and-goal pass to give New England an early 7-0 lead. It was a perfect back-shoulder throw by Jones, and a beautiful catch by Bourne to give the Patriots their early lead. Strong hit Horton with a 27-yard touchdown pass and a 54-yarder on consecutive drives to start the game. Strong added an 11-yard TD pass to Doubs as the Wolf Pack built a 31-0 halftime lead. Strong lofted a 66-yard touchdown pass to a wide-open Doubs to cap a four-play, 99-yard drive midway through the third quarter. Kelley tossed a 6-yard touchdown pass to a wide-open Nolan Givan to cap a 98-yard drive early in the second quarter. Kelley’s shovel pass to Taron Jones stretched the Lions’ lead to 21-0 with 10 minutes remaining before halftime. Kelley threw a strike to Nick Kovacs in the end zone for a 20-yard score that ended another long drive. Kelley then tossed a screen pass to Jones, who broke loose for a 39-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter and the Lions led 38-0. Kelley was 31-of-45 passing for 345 yards. ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Daniel Carlson kicked a 29-yard field goal in overtime after Anthony Brown’s fourth pass-interference penalty kept the drive alive, and the Las Vegas Raiders beat the Dallas Cowboys 36-33 on Thursday. Carlson’s fifth field goal came after Brown was called for interference on Zay Jones on third-and-18. All four of Brown’s interference penalties came on third-down incompletions. The Raiders (6-5) ended a three-game losing streak with their first Thanksgiving victory since 1968. It was their fourth appearance on the holiday since then, with the previous two losses coming at the Cowboys. Carlson put Las Vegas ahead 33-30 with a career-long 56-yarder with 1:52 remaining. Greg Zuerlein, who missed an extra point after the first Dallas TD, answered with a 45-yarder with 19 seconds to go. Tony Pollard had a 100-yard kickoff return for Dallas in the third quarter, but was stopped inside the 15 to start overtime. The Cowboys went three-and-out starting from their 7, and the Raiders finished off the third victory for the AFC West against the NFC East-leading Cowboys (7-4) in the past...
The Miami Dolphins’ offensive execution in the second half on Sunday at the New York Jets was a big reason why they came away with a 24-17 victory after the two teams played a sloppy 7-7 first half. First, there was the 65-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Tua Tagovailoa to receiver Mack Hollins that opened the half like the Dolphins did the first half — with a touchdown. But maybe more important were the two fourth-quarter scoring drives, one for the go-ahead touchdown and the other to milk the clock late and put Miami up two scores. The Dolphins’ effectiveness and ability to put together those time-consuming series came behind a commitment to the running game — something that has been on and off but mostly off all season — and Tagovailoa’s passing efficiency. He was 27-of-33 passing. Meanwhile, the run game may have only averaged 3.5 yards per carry, but it worked late and had to be respected enough to keep the defense honest. The play-action pass and run-pass options were working behind those two factors....
New York Giants offensive tackle Andrew Thomas caught a touchdown pass on Monday night, and Peyton Manning loved it. The New York Giants were looking to be the second NFC East team this season to defeat the defending Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers. For them to do so, they would have to pull out all of the stops. After Adoree’ Jackson intercepted a Tom Brady pass in the second quarter, the Giants tied things up at 10-points apiece after quarterback Daniel Jones threw a touchdown pass to…left tackle Andrew Thomas! Late in the fourth quarter Sunday, with the Chicago Bears facing fourth-and-6, trailing 9-7 and not quite in field-goal range, the Ravens’ defense lined up as if a blitz were imminent. Then left tackle Jason Peters flinched, the Bears moved back 5 yards, and both units regrouped inside Soldier Field. Chicago came back in a shotgun formation with three wide receivers. The Ravens got even more aggressive. This time, they showed a “Cover 0″ blitz before the snap — no deep-safety help, man-to-man coverage across the board, everyone else blitzing. Their pressure got to quarterback Andy Dalton, but a split-second too late. Just before rookie outside linebacker Odafe Oweh smacked Dalton, a hit that officials deemed to be roughing the passer, the Ravens’ longtime AFC North nemesis floated a pass down the right sideline to wide receiver Marquise Goodwin, who was 4 yards clear of cornerback Chris Westry. His 49-yard touchdown gave the Bears a 13-9 lead with 1:41 remaining. Even after second-year quarterback Tyler Huntley led the Ravens to a go-ahead touchdown on the subsequent drive,...

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) — Connor Bazelak threw a 2-point conversion pass to Daniel Parker Jr. to lift Missouri to a 24-23 overtime victory over Florida on Saturday. The Tigers (6-5, 3-4 Southeastern Conference) drew within a point on Tyler Badie’s 13-yard touchdown run, and Missouri coach Eli Drinkwitz elected to go for 2 rather than send the game to a second overtime with a PAT kick. Parker, a tight end, slipped undetected into the left side of the end zone and caught the lobbed pass. Badie rushed 27 times for 146 yards. Bazelak completed 15 of 26 passes for 165 yards and a touchdown. Florida (5-6, 2-6 SEC) got the ball first in overtime, and Emory Jones caught a 6-yard touchdown pass from wide receiver Trent Whittemore on a trick play to give the Gators a brief lead. Jones completed 20 of 32 passes for 261 yards and a touchdown. Missouri entered the game with the nation’s 118th-ranked defense, and Florida had yielded 92 points in its last two games. IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Alex Padilla threw for two touchdowns and ran for another in his first career start, and No. 19 Iowa withstood three fourth-quarter comeback attempts to beat Minnesota 27-22 on Saturday. The Hawkeyes (8-2, 5-2 Big Ten) led 24-16 before Minnesota’s Tanner Morgan threw a 68-yard touchdown pass to Chris Autman-Bell with 5:28 to play. The Gophers (6-4, 4-3) went for the two-point conversion, but Morgan’s pass was tipped by Iowa safety Dane Belton and fell incomplete. The Gophers got the ball back at their own 10-yard line with 3:08 left. Morgan was sacked for a 7-yard loss on second down, and his fourth-down pass was broken up by Iowa’s Matt Hankins. Caleb Shudak’s 29-yard field goal provided the final margin, and then the Hawkeyes’ defense bowed up one more time when Minnesota drove to the Iowa 39. The game ended with Joe Evans sacking Morgan. CONCORD — It was a one-score game as the first half was nearing an end Friday night, seven points separating Clayton Valley from being even with De La Salle. If the Ugly Eagles had made a stop in those waning seconds, maybe it would have made a difference in the second half. But Luke Dermon would have none of that. The De La Salle quarterback threw a short touchdown pass to Bryant Meredith with six seconds on the clock to stretch the lead to 14. When the Spartans opened the scored half with two more touchdowns, that was the ballgame. De La Salle won 42-21 on its home field to close the regular season with five consecutive victories. The Spartans improved to 8-2, a resume that is expected to land them the No. 1 seed in the North Coast Section’s new eight-team Open Division/Division I bracket Sunday. Clayton Valley finished 7-3. The Ugly Eagles, who last week celebrated an East Bay Athletic League Mountain Division championship, will probably be seeded third in the Open/D1...
