The latest Netflix action comedy hit Red Notice has now become the most watched film on the platform after racking up 328.8 million viewing hours, despite poor reviews. Netflix announced the blockbuster movie's success Tuesday, saying that over half its 214 million subscribers across the world had tuned in. Red Notice starring A-list Hollywood celebrities such as Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot premiered on Netflix on November 5. It was also released in theaters for people who wish to enjoy it on the big screen, but so far has only made around $2 million of its $200 million production cost back. Netflix won't mind though, with the huge outlay on the movie primarily intended to drive subscribers to the streamer and boost its finances long-term.  The film, which has seen by half of the platform's subscribers, has surpassed the most-watched title that was originally held by the 2018 post-apocalyptic drama Bird Box starring Sandra Bullock. President Biden's gut reaction to the news that a deadly suicide bomb had gone off amid the American evacuation from Afghanistan has been revealed.  During an Afghanistan briefing on Aug. 26, head of US Central Command Gen. Frank McKenzie turned ashen as he was handed a piece of paper. He told the meeting, which he'd called into by video, that a bomb had been detonated near the Hamid Karzai Airport - four services members were already dead, three near dead, dozens more injured.  There were gasps throughout the room and Biden winced before going silent for a long pause. 'The worst that can happen has happened,' the president said once he broke the silence, meeting participants told the New York Times.  The death toll eventually rose to 13 US service members and over 170 Afghans.  The fateful event has since marred the Biden administration's record and defined the frenzied withdrawal that has scored criticism from both sides. Following the attack, which terror group ISIS-K later claimed, the US carried out a retaliatory drone strike, which they initially claimed killed a terrorist...
The legendary composer behind West Side Story ended up resenting its success - and he wasn't too keen on the Oscar-winning film adaptation either, his daughter has revealed. Jamie Bernstein, the eldest daughter of Leonard Bernstein, who wrote the iconic musical in the 1950s, said he became frustrated by the phenomenon and how he had to work harder for his other works to get noticed. It comes as Steven Spielberg's new adaptation of the Romeo and Juliet-inspired classic, set in New York, is set to be released next month. 'It became a sort of albatross around his neck,' Bernstein told Radio Times.  'He had to work all the harder to get people to focus on his other works, especially his symphonic works.  'He did mention it from time to time, it was a frustration.' 'But you can't really get to complain about having a gigantic success,' she added. OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER isn't the first Man Utd legend to be given his marching orders. The Norwegian, 48, was finally sacked (for the second time in his career) by the club after a dismal 4-1 defeat at the hands of Watford over the weekend, following weeks of speculation and a dismal run of form. 14Ole Gunnar Solskjaer isn't the first ex-Man Utd star to be given his marching orders as a boss Brendan Rodgers, Mauricio Pochettino and Zinedine Zidane have been linked with the vacant post. But, the Red Devils will do well to steer clear of any former players. Many who played under legendary boss Sir Alex Ferguson made a foray into management, most ended up flopping. However, there's one who was a major success... (CNN)A few months ago, I was listening to the radio in the car with my buddy Noam. He said to me, "Your uncle is far more respected in the music industry than [this artist]." My uncle is Neil Sedaka. I won't tell you who the other artist he mentioned was, but he's someone with many number one hits in the 1970s and has a nickname for his fans. My moment with Noam was game changing for me, even though have known for a long time that the man I know as Uncle Neil was famous. I can recall seeing gold and platinum records lining his apartment. There are photos of Uncle Neil with the guy with big sunglasses in his kitchen. Not to mention that I've been backstage at a few concerts. Still, I hadn't realized how rare his success was, so I decided to talk with my Uncle Neil and look into how his career illustrates the overall arc of the changing music industry. You can listen to our conversation on this week's "Margins of Error" podcast. Some of the...
A lot has changed since “Farmville” exploded on Facebook. For a good two years, it was one of the most popular games on the planet. Although it hasn’t reached the heights of its past popularity, the franchise still has a devoted following. The third entry to the series “Farmville 3” launches today in a different environment from the original. Facebook on PC has been supplanted by gaming on smartphones, and that’s where players will find the latest chapter. It’s available on iOS and Android devices as well as the Mac M1. The game features the gameplay that fans are familiar with. They’ll plant crops, grow and harvest them with help from friends. One of the newer wrinkles is the emphasis on farmhands, which have skills that help players build a successful farm. “Farmville 3” features 30 of them, and they have a diverse set of skills such as baking, fishing, lumberjacking and crafting. What is the culture behind Knicks’ early success? Alder Almo October 30, 2021 Share on facebook Facebook Share on twitter Twitter Share on reddit Reddit The New York Knicks are on top of the Eastern Conference. It is expected to remain that way after Saturday’s night road game in Big Easy with no Zion Williamson as a roadblock. “Whenever [Zion] is on the court, it makes it a lot tougher, for sure,” RJ Barrett, the hero in the Knicks’ road win in Chicago, said. “Nonetheless, they’re still a good team. They have a lot of weapons. We can’t overlook anybody.” The Knicks have made that mistake against the Orlando Magic, and they paid dearly for it — the only blemish so far in an otherwise perfect record dating back to the preseason. They have won in a myriad of ways. They have lost to a bad team. But this team is built for overcoming adversities. “It’s hard to win in this league,” Kemba Walker said following their tough win...
Kevin Hart’s new movie “True Story” looks like it’s going to be a fun ride. The plot of the Netflix film with Hart and Wesley Snipes, according to the trailer’s YouTube description, is, “A world-famous comedian desperately searches for a way out after a night in Philadelphia with his brother threatens to sabotage more than his success.” (REVIEW: ‘Westworld’ Season 3 Ends With The Possible Deaths Of Multiple Characters) Give the trailer a watch below. It’s very interesting. Well, it looks like Hart is trying to pivot to some darker and more sinister roles, and I’m here for it. He’s an insanely entertaining guy, and he’s now going for some more serious roles. It should be interesting to see what kind of range he has. There’s no doubt he can crush it when it comes to comedy. Can Hart have the same level of success with more serious roles? Well, we’re about to find out. Also, it feels like it’s been a long time since we last saw Snipes in a major Hollywood production. He used to be...
According to Gallup, President Joe Biden's approval rating among independents went from 61% earlier this year to only 37% in September — and late October polls aren't very encouraging either, with the president's overall approval at 42% (Rasmussen), 43% (YouGov) or 46% (Morning Consult). But Biden is hardly the only U.S. president who saw his approval ratings tumble after the "honeymoon phase," as pundits call it. And New York Magazine's Eric Levitz, in an article published this week, stresses that "Bidenomics" is working regardless of Biden's disappointing poll numbers. "Consumer prices are high and rising, and so is disapproval of Joe Biden," Levitz writes. "In recent days, the president's net-favorability rating has hit new lows in FiveThirtyEight's aggregation of polls. Meanwhile, America's headlines are full of testaments to economic discontent. By all appearances, Biden is suffering blowback from grave failures of economic management. But those appearances are deceiving." Levitz continues, "The U.S. economy has real problems, and inflation is certainly one of them. At the same time, America is enjoying an exceptionally swift economic recovery, rising household wealth, falling...

But without Harding injecting £26million of his own money to rebuild Stamford Bridge and bring in stars such as Ruud Gullit and Gianluca Vialli, then the Russian billionaire may never have invested his fortunes. And Morris — a passionate fan who came through the ranks to play for the Blues before going on to be Frank Lampard’s No 2 —  knows just how big a role charismatic Harding played in Chelsea’s history. Morris said: “We were lucky. I know everybody thinks Chelsea started when Roman came in but all the success, and all that kind of blueprint...
After a disappointing start and unspeakable tragedy, Utah has found its footing. The Utes (4-2, 3-0 Pac-12) are the only undefeated team in conference play and sit atop the South Division. If they follow this trajectory, they could be in position to vie for a first-ever Rose Bowl appearance. “We seem to be a little stronger in the second half this year,” Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said. “Each year is a little bit different. But that’s been our M.O. I don’t have a great answer for you, other than our guys do a really good job of hanging in there, overcoming adversity and handling adversity. That’s been the storyline this year.” The team has been playing through grief since the tragic death of defensive back Aaron Lowe in a shooting at a party in Salt Lake City last month. The Utes persevered, with a dramatic victory over USC — their first victory in Los Angeles against the Trojans since 1916 — and then a come-from-behind win over Arizona State last weekend. Normally a strong defensive team, the Utes have...
Economic experts pushed back on the Biden administration’s claim that widespread supply chain issues in the U.S. were the result of its successful economic agenda. “Demand is up because income is up because the president has successfully guided this economy out of the teeth of a terrifying recession,” Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said during an interview Sunday. More than half of American adults said an item they recently shopped for was out of stock while 54% encountered the same issue online shopping, according to a Morning Consult survey published Friday. “This isn’t the first time that we’ve had increases in our shipment activity,” Casey Mulligan, former White House Council of Economic Advisers chief economist and a University of Chicago professor, told the Daily Caller News Foundation in an interview. (CNN)We are frequently told that the key to the Democrats' chances in the 2022 midterm elections is for President Joe Biden's administration and the Democratic majority in Congress to deliver meaningful legislation for the American people. Lincoln Mitchell There are many good reasons for Biden and the Democrats to pass the spending bills currently being discussed in Congress. Expanding social and physical infrastructure is what many Democratic candidates said they would do. For example, candidate Biden promised "to imagine and build a new American economy for our families and the next generation ... where every American enjoys a fair return for their work and an equal chance to get ahead. An economy more vibrant and more powerful precisely because everybody will be cut in on the deal." The Party's platform included similar language, saying Democrats are committed "to forging a new social and economic contract with the American people" that affirms housing as a right, raises wages and "supports working families and the middle class by securing equal pay for women and paid family leave for all." Some time has passed. Hopefully, some perspective has seeped in, too. The San Francisco Giants’ 2021 season was incredible, record-setting, and totally unforeseen. And while it ended in heartbreak and controversy, it was a season to remember in only good ways. But now comes the tricky part of success: How do you do it again? The best the Giants’ braintrust, led by the president of baseball operations, Farhan Zaidi, can do is stick to the plan that’s been in place since he took over. But 107 wins in season two under manager Gabe Kapler were never part of the plan. So the better question might be: How do you reverse engineer magic? To start, you probably don’t mess with the formula that brought success this season. Heading into the 2021 season, the expectation was that the old guard would be playing their final year in San Francisco and they were set to be replaced by free agent pickups and the Giants’ impressive coterie of prospects. The entire reason Zaidi was hired...
SAN FRANCISCO — When 24-year-old right-hander Logan Webb threw the first pitch of the NLDS last Friday at Oracle Park, the storied rivalry between the Giants and Dodgers reached a new peak. For all the dramatic pennant races and division battles between the Giants and Dodgers that have unfolded through the years, the two clubs had never met in the playoffs in the modern era. MLB’s previous postseason formats prevented a matchup from happening before 1995, but even with the creation of a wild card berth and eventually a wild card game, the rivals somehow avoided each other in a mid-October series. The 2021 NLDS that ends with a winner-take-all game on Thursday at Oracle Park has been treated as an anomaly –and rightfully so– but given how well both teams are positioned for future success, this year’s best-of-five series could become the new norm. The Giants owned the first half of the 2010s with a dynasty that brought three World Series championship parades to Market Street, but the Dodgers regained control of the National League West...
EVERYONE will feel like an imposter at some point in their lives. But for some people they are plagued with the worry all the time, and fret about being "found out". 1People can often feel like an imposter, but there are ways to work through that feelingCredit: Getty - Contributor It might be a job you feel like you are unqualified for, an achievement you think you didn't work hard enough for, or simply not being able to take a compliment. Imposter syndrome is a psychological pattern that makes those who suffer from it doubt themselves and their accomplishment - it was first noted by experts Pauline Clance and Suzanne Imes in a 1978 psychology paper. It can cause people to have a constant fear of being "exposed as a fraud", due to feeling as though they don't deserve their own achievements. Those who suffer from it tend to showcase symptoms of depression, generalised anxiety and low self-confidence. Billionaire Jeff Bezos boasted over Amazon's global success despite being branded as 'silly' in a 1999 magazine article on Twitter - only for Elon Musk to reply with a No.2 medal after surpassing him as the world's richest man.   Bezos shared a tweet which included the front page of the Barron's magazine from 1999 which described his new business paradigm as 'silly' and described the billionaire as 'just a middle man'.  He tweeted: 'Listen and be open, but don't let anybody tell you who you are. Clash of the Cover Bands Judges Concert Pics Regional airlines that fly for the major U.S. carriers arent mandating vaccines for staff — yet For the second straight season, the Tampa Bay Rays are the American League’s top seed in the playoffs. Carrying MLB’s fifth-smallest payroll, they handily captured a division that featured four 90+ win teams.  And for the second straight year, they could eliminate one of that division’s monied behemoths in the playoffs as they begin a series with the Boston Red Sox on Thursday. Even more notable, though, is the extremely on brand way in which the Rays have gone about defending their 2020 AL pennant. They traded away Blake Snell in the offseason. They lost ace Tyler Glasnow to injury. In May, with consensus top prospect Wander Franco waiting in the wings, they traded away shortstop Willy Adames for two relatively unheralded pitchers. The result was the franchise’s first 100-win season, and a growing sense that nearly 20 years after Moneyball, the new revolution in running a baseball team emanates from Tampa, er, St. Petersburg....

The top Republican on the House Armed Services committee condemned President Biden as 'delusional' on Wednesday for claiming the U.S. exit from Afghanistan was a success. Speaking at the start of a second day of hearings on the administration's handling of the U.S. withdrawal, Rep Mike Rogers said the exit came at the cost of 13 service members' lives and left behind hundreds of American citizens.    'I fear the president may be delusional,' he said.  'This wasn’t an extraordinary success; it was an extraordinary disaster. 'It will go down in history as one of the greatest failures of American leadership.' Administration officials have repeatedly said the end of the U.S. war and the civilian evacuation, airlifting 124,000 people to safety, were a logistical triumph.    'The extraordinary success of this mission was due to the incredible skill, bravery, and selfless courage of the United States military and our diplomats and intelligence professionals,' said Biden at the end of August when the last U.S. troops had left. On August 31 President Joe Biden declared the US troop withdrawal from Kabul to be an...

The world is entering unchartered waters, and everyone needs to learn how to navigate this new normal. Change is inevitable, and even without the pandemic, a few things would still have changed in the world. Being flexible and adaptable are crucial skills that everyone will need in the post-pandemic world—from business people and employees to schools, students, and parents. “Flexibility is often associated with physical mobility; however, it is also about having an open mindset,” says Ibragimov. “Being receptive to change will help you fit into the post-pandemic reality much easier.” Solomon Ibragimov further goes on to explain that being creative in...

Whether an artist, scientist, or film director, trailblazers in particular fields often have a critically-acclaimed 'hot streak' where they produce a series of outstanding work in short succession.  Now, scientists at Northwestern University in Illinois claim to have pinpointed the secret formula that often triggers a pioneer's best work. Using a form of artificial intelligence (AI) called deep learning, they mined data related to thousands of artists, film directors and scientists to identify a magical formula for success.     Hot streaks directly result from years of 'exploration' (studying diverse styles or topics), immediately followed by years of 'exploitation' (focusing on a narrow area to develop deep expertise), they claim.  They define a hot streak as a burst of high-impact works clustered together in close succession – as achieved by artists such as Vincent Van Gogh and Jackson Pollock, or film directors like Peter Jackson or Alfred Hitchcock.  'Starry Night' (1889) by Vincent Van Gogh a post-impressionist painter.
