Pot roast for dinner is always an excellent idea. It's an even better idea when it’s smoked to perfection and perfectly seasoned with paprika, granulated garlic, onion powder, and more. This recipe from OrWhateverYouDo.com also gets a nice boost from the addition of a secret flavor weapon: au jus gravy mix. "Mississippi pot roast is a great change-up from your traditional pot roast game," says Nicole Johnson of OrWhateverYouDo.com. "Pepperoncini give a nice kick to the end result, and you’re going to want to make sure to have a nice crusty bread around to soak up that excess gravy."  MAPLE BOURBON RIBS WITH SMASHED SWEET POTATOES: TRY THE RECIPE FYI: This recipe is made on a pellet grill, also known as a pellet smoker.  If you don’t have one of these outdoor cookers that lock a ton of smoky, grilled flavor into every dish, Johnson notes that this can be made in the oven, as well. Simply follow the same instructions listed below.Smoked Mississippi Pot Roast by Nicole Johnson, OrWhateverYouDo.com Pot roast for dinner is always an excellent idea. PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — It’s been a chilly start Sunday across the Philadelphia region and there is very little warming coming our way. If you are heading out, make sure to dress in layers because high temperatures will run below average in the mid-to-upper 40s with wind chills in the 30s. The warm spot will be along the Jersey Shore with highs there in the low 50s. Unlike the cold front which passed on Saturday, there will be less wind and only spotty showers from the city north and west. Above 1800-feet in the southern Poconos, there is a chance of 1-2 inches of accumulating snow. This cold air sticks around for the start of our work week with temperatures mainly in the 40s during the day and 30s at night. There will be plenty of sunshine both Monday and...
NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) — A fresh helping of cool, dry air is on the way from Canada but as with most cold fronts, the price to pay will be the chance of storms across the Metroplex, a few of which could be on the stronger side. The good news is that by Thursday morning, it’ll be a distant memory and the skies will turn brilliantly sunny for Veterans Day and the rest of the week. THREAT: The Storm Prediction Center has placed some of north Texas under a ‘slight risk’ of severe weather, mainly along and north of Interstate-20. For areas south of that, the threat is even lower with only a ‘marginal’ chance of some storms reaching severe limits. There is a slight risk (2 out of 5) of severe weather this evening, mainly along and north of I-20. I'm not overly concerned but some hail and gusty winds will be possible with any of the punchier storms. #CBSDFW pic.twitter.com/Fynid6yQu3 — Blake Mathews (@BlakeMathews08) November 10, 2021 READ MORE: Fundraiser Held To Benefit Dallas Firefighters Injured In Highland...
The new Saturn – sized planet Messier 51, discovered by NASA’s Lunar X – ray telescope, is part of the galaxy. It is about 28 million light years away. Milk way. The results mentioned in a study on this topic are that the passing of a planet in front of a star blocks some of the star’s light and creates a characteristic decrease in brightness that can be detected by telescopes. The future “hunters” of the planets This common technique has already been used to detect thousands of exoplanets. Drs. Rosenne di Stefano and colleagues watched. These objects usually contain a neutron star or black hole, which pulls gas from a closely orbiting star. An object near a neutron star or black hole will heat up and glow at X-ray wavelengths. Since the area that produces bright X-rays is small, a Planet Passing in front of it can block most or all of the rays, making it easier to observe traffic. Team members used this technique to detect the exoplanet in a binary system called M51-ULS-1. Dr. De Stefano of...
DEPENDING on your child's behaviour, parents' evening can either be stressful or an absolute joy - and sometimes they can also be quite confusing. There can be a lot of information to take in, and sometimes it can be hard to decipher what your children's teacher is trying to tell you. 3Parents' evening can be an eye-opening experienceCredit: Getty Here, 'Super Headteacher' Leon Hady explains common phrases that your child’s teacher may use during a parents evening, and what they really mean... Shooting stars from the Orionid meteor shower will delight skywatchers tonight, as up to 20 space rocks are expected to shoot overhead per hour.  Orionid meteors occur every autumn when Earth passes through the stream of debris left by Halley's Comet, and will reach their peak tonight and tomorrow night.  As the comet moves around the sun, it leaves tiny pieces of dust and icy debris behind, and as the Earth passes through this cloud of matter, they burn up in the atmosphere, generating fast, bright streaks of light known as meteors.  The darker the sky, the more you will see, with a maximum of about 20 per hour.  However, the nearly full Hunter's Moon will also peak this evening - the bright light from which could dramatically reduce viewing to just two or three meteors per hour. The weather will also present a further hindrance to a good viewing of the meteor shower, with rain and clouds expected across much of the UK tonight.  Shooting stars from the Orionid Meteor Shower will delight skywatchers tonight, as up to 20...
CHICAGO (CBS) — Showers continue to pinwheel across our area this afternoon as low-pressure spins overhead. Isolated thunderstorms and brief cold air funnels (not reaching the ground) are possible through sunset. Overall, there is less instability and wind shear today, so storms are smaller. Unfortunately for stargazers, adverse weather conditions could threaten views of the Draconid Meteor Shower tonight.  The annual meteor shower, named after the northern constellation of Draco from where it originates, could send up to 10 shooting stars through UK skies every hour.  But according to experts at the Met Office, cloud, rain and fog could threaten views of the shower from the ground.  The best chance Brits have of seeing the Draconids is under clear skies away from sources of light pollution after nightfall tonight (18:56 BST).   Meteor showers are caused when the Earth travels through a cloud of cometary debris. Sitting around the fire pit is one of the best parts of the outdoor experience, especially when you can cook on it as well. But sitting around a fire pit that creates too much smoke can take away from that enjoyment. The solution is the Burly Scout Stainless Steel Smoke Reducing Firepit with grill attachment. The Burly Scout gives you a quick and easy way to have an open fire wherever you may be; the campground, the beach, or just in your backyard with friends. It stands 17 inches tall, with a 17-inch inside diameter and 20-inch outside diameter. That’s the perfect size to create enough heat for an enjoyable fire, but not too big to haul it from your home to the campground. Made from 304 stainless steel, the fire pit is a two-piece design engineered to produce significant radiant heat while eliminating a great deal of the smoke found in conventional wood fires. There are very few sparks from the steel fire pit, thus reducing the chances of an accident. It features handles made from white oak, stained...
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – High heat and humidity continue to headline the forecast on Wednesday. Heat index values are once again expected to soar into the triple digits making for an uncomfortable Wednesday afternoon. PM Scattered thunderstorms are also likely, particularly north and west of the city, although a few can pop up across our immediate suburbs. And we continue to track Hurricane Elsa. For our area, the main threat will remain heavy/torrential rainfall and flash flooding regardless of its track. A closer track by the center of Elsa however would yield greater impacts at the coast including wind and erosion. The isolated tornado threat will also become elevated in this scenario. As of the latest update from the NHC, South Jersey and Delaware are in the cone of concern. This forecast is evolving.

Last month, Jupiter and Saturn treated skywatchers to a spectacular, once-in-a-lifetime "great conjunction," when they were closer in the night sky than they had been since medieval times. Now, as our solar system's two largest planets continue to drift apart, they will be joined by a third — Mercury — forming a rare three-planet conjunction.  A triple conjunction is traditionally defined as two planets meeting each other three times in a short timeframe but NASA has also used the term to refer to three planets meeting. A planetary trio is defined by planets within a circle with a diameter less than 5 degrees in width — which can be visualized as three fingers held together at an arm's length, according to EarthSky.  The last one occurred in October 2015. Jupiter and Saturn have been slowly drifting apart since their extremely rare meeting in December, but Mercury is just now coming into view, forming the planetary triangle.  "From Friday evening to Monday evening, the planet Mercury will appear to pass first by Saturn and then by Jupiter as it shifts away...

STARGAZERS should look out for a bizarre light phenomenon this week known as the 'zodiacal light'. It's the best time of year to spot the second sunset-like glow in the evening sky if you live in the northern hemisphere. 3Zodiacal light leaves a triangular glow in the skyCredit: ESO Zodiacal light is subtle so the best chance of seeing it is from a dark location well away from light pollution. Sometime's referred to as a 'pyramid of light', the glow will shine from the western horizon about an hour after sunset. Try looking for the Taurus constellation and you should spot a light glowing shape. The phenomenon only appears if the conditions are right. 3 That means clear skies above an area with little light pollution. Scientists think zodiacal light is caused by sunlight bouncing off dust particles in space called the zodiacal dust streams. Nasa thinks the dust streams could come from Mars or its moons. Observers in the northern hemisphere – meaning Britain, the US and northern Europe – can look west-southwest for the broad wedge of light....
In a telephone interview with an Egyptian television station on Saturday evening, Admiral Ossama Rabie, chairman of the Egyptian Suez Canal Authority (SCA) claimed that the ship had “moved 30 degrees to the right and to the left” for the first time. “This is a good indicator,” he said, of the evolution of the sea giant’s unblocking efforts. The ship of more than 220,000 tons and 400 meters long has been stuck since Tuesday in the southern part of the Suez Canal, a few kilometers from the eponymous city, preventing all traffic in this passage which concentrates more than 10% of international maritime trade . As a result, more than 300 boats are stuck at both ends of the canal connecting the Red Sea to the Mediterranean Sea, Mr Rabie said on Saturday. Each day of blockage causes significant delays and costs for players in the sector, and the first concrete effects are felt: Syria said on Saturday that it had started to ration the distribution of fuels, faced with the delay in the delivery of a cargo of...

A certain sum is assessed on each pew as the price of its occupation for a year, and the choice is then put up at auction. The auction takes place this evening, and those who wish eligible seats should be on hand. The letting commences at seven o’clock.” *** ON THIS DAY IN 1898, the Eagle reported, “Red balls on all the cars and telephone messages flitting hither and thither followed by the unfurling of the big flag at the Willink entrance to the park a few minutes past 10 o’clock this morning and the news was soon disseminated all over town: ‘The park lakes are frozen and open to the public.’ The hearts of the skaters and the organs that fill that duty for the trolley companies were accordingly buoyant and the immigration to the scene of the sport soon began. ‘It’s the best ice we’ve had in ten years,’ said Proprietor Dorlon of the...

MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace suggested her network’s viewers were beginning to drink as a result of Florida trending for President Donald Trump in the election. “It is a state that has been increasingly difficult for Democrats to win statewide,” Wallace noted during an evening panel discussion. “You can feel the hopes and the dreams of our viewers falling down, and you can hear liquor cabinets opening all across this great land. But Florida wasn’t a state the Florida campaign was counting on, Florida wasn’t a state essential to a Biden win.” Trump was leading in the state with 51 percent of the vote to 48 percent for Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden shortly before 10 Tuesday evening, with The New York Times and Decision Desk HQ projecting Trump would prevail. Matt DeLucia, CBS2 Meteorologist/Weather Producer Just yesterday afternoon we were in t-shirts… today you’ll need a coat! After many reached 70 degrees Saturday, temps won’t get much higher than the low to mid 50s today. After a decent morning, clouds are filling in and will continue to thicken this afternoon. Showers will be moving in from the south, eventually reaching the city this evening. Expect periods of rain tonight, along with a raw breeze. Temps will drop into the 40s for most, although not too far from where we are right now. Then you’ll want to grab the umbrella for Monday. It won’t be raining the entire day, but on/off showers can be expected at any time. It’s a touch milder, in the upper 50s to around 60. The unsettled weather continues Tuesday with plenty of cloud cover… a spotty shower or two is still possible, but it doesn’t look as widespread. Wednesday looks to be the driest day with some sunshine breaking out before another round of rain arrives on Thursday. Enjoy the rest of your...
