On Monday, the 23-year-old daughter of late musical legend Michael Jackson attended Stella McCartney’s runway show during Paris Fashion Week in a very fitting top: a one-shouldered, studded tee emblazoned with the words “Rock Royalty.” If the lace-up look feels familiar, it’s probably because it was last spotted on the “Rock Style”-themed 1999 Met Gala red carpet on McCartney herself — who, of course, is the daughter of Beatles frontman Paul McCartney — and Liv Tyler, daughter of Aerosmith rocker Steven Tyler. The graphic tanks weren’t actually part of the British designer’s collection; rather, as she recently told Vogue, McCartney customized them from a three-pack of Hanes tanks on the morning of the big event. Paris Jackson’s edgy top was previously spotted at the Met Gala in 1999 — when she...
PARIS (AP) — Stella McCartney’s virus-conscious show was shown to a fraction of the normal Paris audience. But that did not detract from its energy or celebrity pull. Paul McCartney surprised his designer daughter backstage amid a huddle of guests that included Demi Moore and Michael Jackson’s daughter, Paris, who spoke to The Associated Press about her environmental concerns. Here are some highlights of Monday’s Spring 2022 collections: STELLA MCCARTNEY To make a point about the environment, Stella McCartney used the idea of a mushroom, nature’s valiant survivor. It was also a spring-board for myriad hallucinogenic looks. This collection, one of the season’s best, was ripe with energy and vibrant design. The mushroom theme was employed creatively: Vegetable prints featured on light organdy, alongside a palette mixing natural bright hues with soil browns. The sustainable leather bags were,- the house said, also made from mycelium — fungal material that breaks down organic matter. But the best parts of the display came when McCartney deviated from this vegetable theme. Judo belts flapped around loose white pants in looks that...

Robert De Niro has claimed that his bitter divorce with Grace Hightower has wrung him dry and he is fast running out of cash.   A judge has ruled that his ex-wife should receive $1 million annually and that the couple will split the proceeds after selling their $20 million home.  The couple have been locked in a divorce battle since December 2018.  Initially the pair fought over custody of their nine-year-old child but now the arguments are over money and property.  Robert De Niro and Grace Hightower were married in 1997, split in 1999, then got back together, renewed their vows in 2004 before he filed for divorce in 2018. Pictured in June 2018 Hightower's average monthly spend was $215,000 a month on credit cards and $160,000 cash all of which De Niro's attorney, Caroline Krauss, claims the actor is running out of money. She said the coronavirus pandemic led to a drying up of work projects for the Hollywood star.  Months earlier, De Niro earned $5 million for acting in Martin Scorsese's hit gangster flick, The Irishman. He also received 'tens of...

Longtime animal rights activist and fashion designer Stella McCartney is yet again on top of the trends. The London-based designer is the first luxury house in the world to use Mylo mushroom material. Bolt Threads, makers of Mylo, announced a partnership to help bring this material to luxury brands around the world. The Mylo Consortium will create clothing made from Mylo, a bio-based material made with mycelium. McCartney is making accessories and garments with the animal-free, bio-based leather alternative, according to the brand. “I believe the Stella community should never have to compromise luxury desirability for sustainability, and Mylo™️ allows us to make that a reality. These rare, exclusive pieces embody our shared commitment with Bolt Threads to innovate a kinder fashion industry – one that sees the birth of beautiful, luxurious materials as opposed to the deaths of our fellow creatures and planet,” Stella McCartney shared in an email. McCartney designed and introduced a black bustier top and utilitarian trousers made with the material. Because Mylo is certified bio-based, it’s renewable and regenerative. Stella McCartney is today showing off its first set of clothes made from a new form of artificial leather; Mylo’s Unleather, a mycelium leather created by startup Bolt Threads. The material, culled from the root system of fungi, promises to behave, and look, like animal leather, with a fraction of the environmental cost. The outfit, a two-piece bustier top and trousers, use panels of recycled nylon attached to panels of Mylo, marks a step into a whole new world of sustainable fashion. Unfortunately, this first outfit isn’t available to buy, but points to the direction McCartney is looking to take her wares in the near future. As an animal product, leather is unsuitable for use by some religious groups, as well as vegans and vegetarians. For decades, companies have produced artificial substitutes which can be used for fashion, luggage and surface coverings — including car interiors, furniture and book bindings. But this process has come under greater scrutiny in recent years since most forms of artificial leather are made from oil-derived plastics. A number of companies, including McCartney, Adidas,...
