Meghan McCain has called for President Biden to replace the nation's top doctor on infectious diseases, Dr. Anthony Fauci, and replace him with someone who 'does understand science'. McCain called for a change in leadership because of what she claimed was his 'inconsistent messaging' over coronavirus vaccine. Her frustration lies with an earlier interview given by Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, who appeared on CNN to discuss the current vaccination rollout.  Meghan McCain complained about not getting a COVID-19 vaccine yet and then called on President Biden to fire Dr. Anthony Fauci Her rant happened during ABC's The View on Monday morning and spilled over on Twitter However he refused to be drawn on whether those who had been inoculated against the coronavirus, such as elderly grandparents, would be able to spend time with their grandchildren and other family members after...
Josh Jackling and Carolyn McKenna plan to spend the next few years on the road. Josh's grandparents Joseph and Inez Jackling made the...
CHICAGO (WLS) -- Ever heard someone say "fat meat ain't greasy"? Grammy-nominated singer Dante Hall heard his grandparents say it all the time, and he's put their wisdom into his new book. The Chicago singer has a successful solo career and a long list of famous collaborators like Jennifer Hudson, Yolanda Adams and Donald Lawrence. But one day, when the normally modest Hall was talking about his success, this came out:"It's a poor dog that won't wag his own tail. It came out of nowhere! I didn't mean to!" he recalled with a laugh. An idiom from bygone years, it means "It's OK to brag a little, if it's true." And that's just one of the old sayings Hall often heard from his grandparents, Sidney and Mary Durrell. Those sayings have stuck with him to this very day."I just figured, 'Let me memorialize all these so people will ask stop asking me...
Dear Moneyist, Growing up, I was quite close to my paternal grandparents. They were very active in my life. While they were living, they frequently disagreed with my dad’s financial decisions, and felt my uncle, my dad’s brother, did well for himself, and, therefore, did not need any money. So they repeatedly told all grandchildren, including me, that their estate would be divided among us, the grandchildren. My grandparents were transparent with regards to their finances, and even told us where they kept their will. When my grandparents finally passed away, my uncle was named the executor, and finally read the will. Their will specified that everything would be split between my dad and my uncle, contrary to what they told all of us growing up. Naturally, that came as a great disappointment to us. My uncle, with his half, decided to honor the spirit of what...

APPLETON, Wis. (AP) — A Wisconsin teenager has pleaded guilty to fatally shooting his grandparents, but his lawyers will argue at a trial that he shouldn’t be held criminally responsible because he was mentally ill. Alexander Kraus, 18, of Neenah, is charged with two counts of first-degree intentional homicide in the shooting of Dennis and Letha Kraus on April 14, 2019, at their Grand Chute home. Kraus has admitted that he killed his grandparents but the criminal complaint doesn’t list a motive. Kraus appeared in court by video Monday from the Outagamie County Jail, WLUK-TV reported. The case will continue despite his guilty pleas. In a second phase of the proceedings against Kraus, his defense attorneys hope to prove he was suffering from a mental illness and didn’t realize what he did was wrong. A jury will decide if this was the case. His defense attorneys last year entered pleas...
Andrew O'Hehir June 19, 2020 9:57PM (UTC) Filmmaker Ivy Meeropol has already made a documentary about her family connection to history. As anyone acquainted with 20th-century radical history will already recognize, she is the granddaughter of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, the supposed "atom spies" executed by the federal government in 1953. Meeropol's 2004 HBO film "Heir to an Execution" provides a moving, intimate study of that event and its personal and political legacy — although it does not and could not settle the question of the Rosenbergs' guilt or the fairness of their sentence, which remains contested to this day. (Full disclosure, although I don't think it's relevant to this story: Both my mother and stepfather were American Communists, and my stepfather, Mel Fiske, knew Abel and Anne Meeropol, who adopted the Rosenbergs' children, including Ivy Meeropol's father, after their parents were electrocuted. So, yeah, if you want an...

The morning after Donald Trump was elected president, I woke up with one clear and horrifying thought: the ghost of Roy Cohn was moving into the White House. Cohn, who had been Trump’s lawyer and friend, had also played a major role in securing the execution of my grandparents, the so-called “atom spies” Ethel and Julius Rosenberg. He made his name at the ripe old age of 23 as the assistant prosecutor in their trial. When I was very young, he floated ominously through my consciousness along with Judge Irving Kaufman, David Greenglass, and J. Edgar Hoover. They were the bad guys, the very mention of whom would prompt an angry hissing from various aunts and uncles like so many tires running out of air. As Tony Kushner wrote in Angels in America, Cohn was “the polestar of evil.” He knew there was no evidence against my grandmother...
The grandparents of 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow, whose body, along with that of his 17-year-old sister Tylee Ryan, was discovered in Idaho on Tuesday after an eight-month-long search, visited the very home where authorities found the two dead children buried. Larry and Kay Woodcock, who lived in Louisiana, were the ones to first call the Rexburg Police Department in Idaho in November 2019 to ask officers to perform a wellness check on JJ after not being able to contact him for an extended period of time. That’s when the children’s alleged “cult mom” Lori Vallow and her new, fifth husband Chad Daybell, the author of several doomsday novels, fled to Hawaii, where Vallow was arrested in February on child abandonment charges and extradited back to Idaho. LORI VALLOW'S MISSING IDAHO KIDS: EVERYTHING TO KNOW ABOUT THE DOOMSDAY CULT CASE “That’s the scene where JJ was,” Larry Woodcock told Fox...
The grandparents of doomsday-obsessed mom Lori Vallow’s son made a tearful visit to the Idaho ranch where his remains were found buried alongside those of his sister Wednesday. see also Doomsday mom Lori Vallows kids have finally been found The search for doomsday-obsessed Lori Vallow’s two kids is over,... “That’s the scene where JJ was,” Larry Woodcock told Fox 13, choking up as he looked at the spot where remains were found of 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow and his sister Tylee Ryan, 17. “My little man,” he sobbed at the Rexburg ranch belonging to Vallow’s husband, Chad Daybell. Woodcock and his wife, Kay, were the biological grandparents of JJ, who was later adopted by Lori and a former husband, Charles Vallow — Kay’s brother — who was later murdered. The grandparents had been the first to alert authorities over fears that their grandson, who had autism, had not been heard...
