The Dallas Cowboys came back on Thanksgiving to force overtime but Anthony Brown’s persistent DPI penalties ultimately sunk them and fans were quite angry. For much of the Thanksgiving Day game between the Dallas Cowboys and Las Vegas Raiders, it looked as if the latter was going to run away with it. They were getting the right bounces, making plays and watching Dallas continuously shoot themselves in the foot. One of the biggest culprits of that was cornerback Anthony Brown. In regulation, the veteran (who had no pass interference penalties on the season) was flagged three times for defensive pass interference. Despite that, though, Dallas clawed back and forced overtime thanks to a fourth-quarter rally. In the extra period, Dak Prescott and the Cowboys got the ball first but failed to convert even a first down. But the defense looked as if it might step up after forcing a long third down. That’s when Brown came into play again. Raiders quarterback Derek Carr attempted a deep throw to Zay Jones but underthrew it. Anthony Brown was in coverage, though, and...

Anthony G. Brown’s decision to run for attorney general next year, two well-known Prince George’s County Democrats — Glenn F. Ivey and Del. Jazz Lewis — announced plans early Tuesday to seek the Fourth District seat being vacated by the three-term incumbent. More candidates could jump into the race in the coming weeks. Ivey served as Prince George’s County state’s attorney from 2002 to 2010. He ran unsuccessfully for the House in 2016, finishing second to Brown — 8,700 votes back — in a five-way primary. Ivey has been an attorney in private practice ever since. He said he has enjoyed doing legal work, but the pull of politics never faded. “I miss public service,” Ivey said. “Congress is the heart of the storm. I want to be in that fray. I want to be in that struggle — because these are critical times. Democracy hangs in the balance.” Ivey’s wife, Jolene,...
Rep. Anthony Brown (D-MD) on Monday, announced a run for Maryland Attorney General in 2022, making him the latest added to the growing list of Democrats leaving the House of Representatives in hopes of another office, creating an even more challenging situation for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to keep her slim majority. Brown, who currently represents Maryland’s Fourth Congressional District and is seeking to replace the outgoing Attorney General in Maryland, said during an interview, “Now it’s time, particularly with [Brian Frost’s] retirement, to make sure the people of Maryland are well served with the chief legal officer… I’m looking forward to that important responsibility.” The retiring Brown is loyal to Pelosi, voting 100 percent with her and not disagreeing on any significant votes with the speaker in the 117th Congress. In his announcement video as a candidate for Attorney General, he called himself a “champion for progress.” He added, “Sure, we’ve made progress over the years, but too many barriers exist for too many Marylanders, from health care and housing to the environment and education to workplaces, policing and the criminal justice system.” Brown noted he...
(CNN)Democratic Rep. Anthony Brown announced Monday that he will run for Maryland attorney general in 2022 instead of seeking another term in the House of Representatives. The news makes Brown the latest House Democrat to announce that they are either retiring or running for another office. Democrats will be fighting a tough battle to retain control of the chamber as they defend a narrow majority in the midterms and Republicans grow increasingly confident they will take back the House. In another high-profile announcement, Democratic Rep. John Yarmuth of Kentucky, the powerful chair of the House Budget Committee, recently said that he will not be seeking reelection. Twenty-three House members -- 14 Democrats and nine Republicans -- have now announced they'll be retiring at the end of the term. Nine of them -- five Republicans and four Democrats -- are running for Senate or governor. The departures could make the fight even harder for Democrats as the party will now have to field new candidates to replace outgoing lawmakers.Read MoreMaryland's 4th Congressional District, which Brown represents, is based in the eastern Washington, DC suburbs....

Rep. Anthony Brown, a Democrat, announced Monday that he will run for attorney general of Maryland next year. Brown, also a former lieutenant governor of the state, will run to replace the state’s current attorney general, Brian Frosh, who announced last week he will not seek reelection. The announcement was widely expected, and one of Brown's former primary opponents filed paperwork last week to run for Congress in the Prince George's County-based 4th District, a Democratic stonghold. In a video announcing his candidacy , Brown said, “too many barriers exist for too many Marylanders.” NEW HAMPSHIRE POLLS SIGNAL TIGHT 2022 SENATE RACE “From healthcare and housing, to the environment and education, to workplaces, policing, and the criminal justice system, I’m running for attorney general to dismantle those barriers to make government work again,” Brown said. Anthony G. Brown, a three-term lawmaker from Prince George’s County, said on Monday he will run for state attorney general next year. The move, which was expected, makes him the first big-name candidate to announce for the post since Maryland’s current attorney general, Brian E. Frosh (D), said that he will not run for re-election next year. The 75-year-old Frosh made his announcement on Thursday. In a press release on Monday, Brown said he would “fight for progress, fight for justice, and fight for all Marylanders” as attorney general. A former two-term lieutenant governor and state legislator, Brown represents portions of Prince George’s and Anne Arundel counties in the U.S. House. He considered running for attorney general in 2006, before then-gubernatorial candidate Martin J. O’Malley (D) chose him to be his running mate. Brown’s decision not to...
Anthony Brown, Oregon Ducks. (Mandatory Credit: Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports) Some college football teams may need to consider making a change at quarterback here soon. With so much of the college football season left to be played, do not be shocked if some teams decide to make a change at the most important position on the field before it is too late. Making a change at quarterback at this point of the season usually means one of two things: An act of desperation to save one’s season or to open the door to see what a team might have readily available for next year. Most of these programs of note contemplating a quarterback change have recruited marvelously for years, so no doubt about the players they could look to use under center. CHICAGO (CBS) — The Chicago Police officer who shot and killed Anthony Alvarez, 22, back in March in the Portage Park neighborhood has been stripped of his police powers – but Alvarez’s family wants more action taken than that. Two months ago, the Civilian Office of Police Accountability – which investigates police shootings – recommended that Officer Evan Solano be stripped of his police powers. Only now is action being taken. Alvarez’s cousin, Roxana Figueroa, said the family is now closer to justice. “It’s a step,” Figueroa said. “It’s just not where we want to be.” Police Supt. David Brown announced Monday that Solano, the officer who shot Alvarez, was stripped of his police powers. That means he...

Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns is one of the superstars who are being closely monitored on the trade market. As the Timberwolves continue to bury themselves deep at the bottom of the Western Conference rankings, there’s a growing belief around the league that Towns would soon follow in the footsteps of other superstars and start finding his way out of Minnesota. Once he becomes officially available on the trading block, several title contenders that are in dire need of a frontcourt boost and an additional star power on their roster are expected to express a strong interest in acquiring KAT, including the Boston Celtics. In a recent article, Eddie Bitar of Fadeaway World came up with a blockbuster trade idea that would enable Towns to form a “superteam” with Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum in Boston before the 2021 trade deadline. In the proposed scenario, the Celtics would be sending a package that includes Kemba Walker, Marcus Smart, Semi Ojeleye, Daniel Theis, Robert Williams, Payton Pritchard, a 2021 first-round pick, and a 2022 second-round pick to the Timberwolves in exchange...
Getty Karl Anthony-Towns #32 of the Minnesota Timberwolves. While it may not have completely silenced the James Harden-Celtics rumors, Jaylen Brown’s brilliant early-season performance has significantly quieted the chatter on that front. Brown is fresh off a career-night where the 24-year-old racked up 42 points, including shooting 7-of-10 from beyond the arc. Brown’s 28.0 ppg this year not only leads the way for Boston, but it also ranks him tied with Portland Trail Blazers’ CJ McCollum for sixth-most in the entire league. An All-Star snub a year ago, Brown looks well on his way to full-blown superstardom early on in his fifth NBA season. Brown’s rapid rate of improvement has led many, such as former Celtics big-man Kendrick Perkins, to deem the Cal-Berkeley product as an untouchable in any potential deals in the foreseeable future. As the 2020-21 NBA season goes deeper, several interesting trade ideas continue to surface in the league. These include the hypothetical blockbuster deal between the Boston Celtics and the Minnesota Timberwolves involving Karl-Anthony Towns, Jarrett Culver, and Jaylen Brown. In the proposed scenario by Rob Bradford of WEEI Sports Radio Network, the Celtics would be sending a package that includes Brown, Romeo Langford, Daniel Theis, and a 2024 first-round pick to the Timberwolves in exchange for Towns and Culver. The suggested deal would make a lot of sense for the Celtics. Though they would be losing one of their franchise cornerstones in the process, they would be receiving an All-Star in Towns and a young and promising guard in Culver in return. “For the Celtics the impetus is obvious, with Towns — at Top 5 forward in the NBA — locked up through the 2023-24 season. His position would seem to complement Jayson Tatum better than Brown. Culver, the sixth overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, is also a useful piece, currently averaging just more than 10 points per...

When the NBA lifts the moratorium for trades, the Boston Celtics are expected to immediately find ways to fill the huge hole in their frontcourt. The Celtics may have established an impressive performance from the regular season up to the second round of the 2020 Playoffs despite not having a starting-caliber center on their roster but in the Eastern Conference Finals matchup against Bam Adebayo and the Miami Heat, their major frontcourt weakness was exposed. If they are serious about fully dominating the Eastern Conference and winning the NBA championship title next season, they should strongly consider adding a quality center this fall. One of the dream trade targets for the Celtics is Karl-Anthony Towns of the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Timberwolves haven’t shown any indication that they will consider moving KAT this fall but if they decide to make him available on the trading block, Mark Nilon of Fansided’s Hardwood Houdini believes that the Celtics shouldn’t think twice before offering a package centered on franchise cornerstone Jaylen Brown. “Considering their evident need for an upgrade at the pivot, should the...

After suffering another huge disappointment in the 2019-20 NBA season, rumors have once again started to swirl around All-Star center Karl-Anthony Towns and his future with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Despite the addition of his close pal, D’Angelo Russell, before the 2020 February trade deadline, there are speculations that Towns may still consider following the footsteps of other superstars and start finding his way out of Minnesota this fall. The Timberwolves are yet to address the rumors surrounding the face of the franchise, but if he really demands a trade, they will be left with no choice but to entertain offers for him in the 2020 offseason.
