CRISTIANO RONALDO is a big doubt for Ralf Rangnick’s debut in the Manchester United dugout on Sunday with a knee injury. The absence of Ronaldo would be a major early blow for Rangnick, who yesterday vowed to get the best of the 36-year-old superstar. 2Cristiano Ronaldo celebrates after scoring against Arsenal on Thursday nightCredit: Getty 2The Man Utd star is a major doubt for Sunday’s clash with Crystal PalaceCredit: EPA Sources at United suggested the Portuguese talisman may have hurt his knee doing his trademark jump celebration after scoring the winning penalty in Thursday’s 3-2 win over Arsenal at Old Trafford. Yet Ronaldo played on and even did a full length run of the pitch late on when United broke forward. He was eventually substituted in the 88th minute and walked awkwardly off the pitch. There have been fears Ronaldo would struggle to fit into Rangnick’s high-pressing style but the new boss vowed to deploy him up front. Rangnick, who faces Crystal Palace tomorrow, said: “You always have to adapt your style or your idea of football to the players...
BEAVER CREEK, Colo. (AP) — Aleksander Aamodt Kilde of Norway won a World Cup super-G race Friday less than a year after tearing a ligament in his right knee. Kilde finished a tricky and technical Birds of Prey course in 1 minute, 10.26 seconds to edge Marco Odermatt — the super-G winner the day before — by a scant 0.03 seconds. American Travis Ganong wound up third with a fast early run — he was second to go — that held up to earn his first World Cup super-G podium finish. The 29-year-old Kilde joins Bjarne Solbakken (2003) and Aksel Lund Svindal (2008) as the only Norwegian racers to capture a World Cup super-G event in Beaver Creek. This was Kilde’s third race back since tearing his ACL during a crash last January. He said this victory validates that he’s on the right path with the Beijing Olympics two months away. “Amazing feeling,” said Kilde, who is dating U.S. skiing star Mikaela Shiffrin. “Just incredible.” Kilde added this was a “bittersweet day” with teammate and good friend Kjetil Jansrud hurting...
Sergio Pettis takes on Kyoji Horiguchi a Bellator 272. Sergio Pettis has a huge task on his hands as Japanese MMA superstar, Kjyoji Horiguchi is set to return to Bellator this week for Bellator 272. Horiguchi made his promotional debut in June of 2019, where he defeated Darrion Caldwell to win Bellator’s bantamweight title. The Japanese superstar’s win on American soil was his second title in that weight class, his first outside of Japan, where he won the Rizin version of the same title. After a loss to Kai Asakura, Horiguchi tore up his knee and had to vacate both the Rizin and Bellator titles he had won. His injury indirectly led to Pettis’ title win. Pettis defeated Juan Archuleta for the title, a title Archuleta only won due to Horiguchi vacating the title in the first place. If not for the injury, Archuleta doesn’t defeat Patrick Mix for the title, and Pettis doesn’t get a favorable matchup. Now Pettis wants to defeat the man who never lost the title in the first place. On paper, Sergio Pettis vs. Kyoji Horiguchi...
Getty Harrison Phillips warms up before a game against the Houston Texans. Harrison Phillips has been the highest-rated member of the Buffalo Bills defensive line this season — and doing it all while nursing a significant injury. The team revealed on Monday that Phillips tore the posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during the preseason, and since then has been playing his way back to full health. Despite the ailment, Phillips has been able to turn in some strong performances and helped to anchor one of the league’s top defenses. The latest Bills news straight to your inbox! Phillips Reveals InjuryWhile Phillips didn’t get into specifics about the knee injury that first sidelined him in August, the defensive tackle revealed to the Buffalo News that it was a ligament tear. Ravens inside linebacker Patrick Queen’s rib injury, which briefly knocked him out of Sunday’s win over the Cleveland Browns, is “not something that should linger,” coach John Harbaugh said Monday. Queen, who led the Ravens with eight tackles, including a game-high two tackles for loss, and had a fumble recovery, left the game in the third quarter after tackling tight end David Njoku. But he returned to action and said afterward that he was feeling “good.” “I just tried to hit somebody that was a little bit bigger than me,” Queen joked after the 16-10 win. “I took the effects of it, but that’s football — it comes with it. So I’m just happy that I’m still healthy. Thank God for that.” Harbaugh said the Ravens avoided serious injury during Sunday’s game, but he cautioned that with how “things have popped up late, I’m not saying definitive yet that way. But we look OK.” The team has 16 players on injured reserve, including two recent additions in outside linebacker Pernell McPhee (knee) and rookie safety Ar’Darius Washington...
CLEVELAND (AP) — Cleveland Browns right tackle Jack Conklin suffered a season-ending right knee injury Sunday night at Baltimore, a person familiar with the two-time Pro Bowler’s status told the Associated Press on Monday. Conklin tore his patellar tendon in the first quarter, said the person who spoke on condition of anonymity because the team has not disclosed the injury. An MRI taken Monday confirmed the diagnosis of a tear. Coach Kevin Stefanski is scheduled to speak with reporters later in the day. Conklin’s injury is a crushing loss to Cleveland’s struggling offense, which has scored 17 points or fewer in six of the past seven games. Conklin was just activated from injured reserve Saturday after missing three games with a dislocated elbow only to get hurt while pass blocking on the Browns’ second possession against the Ravens. Conklin’s knee collapsed under him as he back-pedaled and he struggled just walking to the sideline before being carted to the locker room. Conklin missed two games earlier this season with a knee injury. Without Conklin, the Browns’ high-powered running game sputtered...
Getty Images Jack Conklin of the Cleveland Browns is injured during a game against the Baltimore Ravens. Jack Conklin was back in the lineup on Sunday for the Cleveland Browns, although the All-Pro’s stay last less than a quarter. Conklin was carted off the field during Sunday’s primetime matchup with the Ravens with what the team dubbed as a knee injury. It didn’t take long for Cleveland to announce that the right guard would not be returning to the game. #Browns RT Jack Conklin was already ruled out with what appears to be a serious knee injury. — Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) November 29, 2021 Conklin was fresh off spending three games on injured reserve with a dislocated elbow. “I am still not exactly sure. It was hard to tell on the film. Just went down to brace, and I think somebody kicked my elbow coming through and it just popped out,” Conklin told reporters this week when recalling the injury. He also missed time earlier this season with a knee injury he suffered against the Chargers. Conklin was excited...
Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook was taken off the field on a cart with a shoulder injury in the third quarter of a 34-26 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. Cook went down after losing a fumble and stayed on the ground for a while before being taken to the locker room. Cook had 10 carries for 39 yards and six catches for 64 yards before getting hurt. San Francisco running back Deebo Samuel scored two touchdowns before leaving with a groin injury. The 49ers also lost running back Trey Sermon (ankle) and linebackers Fred Warner (hamstring). Vikings linebacker Anthony Barr injured a hamstring. The Vikings’ biggest rival, the NFC North-leading Green Bay Packers, lost wide receiver Randall Cobb to a groin injury during their 36-28 win against the Los Angeles Rams. Cobb caught four passes for 95 yards and a touchdown in the first half and didn’t play the second half. Packers safety Darnell Savage walked slowly to the sideline after taking a hard hit on an onside kick by the Rams in the final...
TURIN, Italy (AP) — Weston McKennie’s injury is less serious than first feared but Juventus teammate Federico Chiesa is set to be out until the new year. Both players had to be substituted in Juve’s 1-0 loss to Atalanta on Saturday. Juventus said that tests carried out on McKennie on Sunday ruled out “capsule ligament injuries of the right knee” but added that the 23-year-old American’s condition will be monitored daily. McKennie has scored two goals in 11 Serie A appearances this season and also featured in five Champions League matches. The midfielder also scored in the United States’ 2-0 win over Mexico earlier this month. Chiesa’s injury is more serious. The Italy forward has “a low-grade hamstring lesion of the left thigh” and his return is expected to be after the Christmas break. The 24-year-old Chiesa has scored one goal in 12 Serie A matches and two in four Champions League appearances. Juventus is currently eighth in the Italian league but has qualified for the knockout stage of Europe’s premier club competition. ___ More AP soccer: https://apnews.com/hub/soccer and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports...

The Miami Dolphins have elevated two young defensive backs up from the practice squad ahead of Sunday’s home game against the Carolina Panthers to address injuries that could water down the special teams unit. Jamal Perry and Brennan Scarlett, two key special teams contributors, were placed on injured reserve earlier this week because of the knee injuries they each suffered in last week’s 24-17 win over the New York Jets. And cornerback Elijah Campbell was placed on injured reserve on Saturday because of a knee injury and toe injury he’s recently suffered. Campbell and Perry were both primary gunners, responsible for running down field on special teams to tackle punt returners. Players put on injured reserve must miss at least three games, but are eligible to return to the 53-man roster if they can recover before the season is over. It doesn’t help that rookie cornerback Trill Williams suffered a hamstring injury during practice this week and has been ruled out of Sunday’s contest, and that safeties Jevon Holland (knee/ankle), Brandon Jones (ankle/elbow) and Eric Rowe (hip)...

The Las Vegas Raiders and their fans should be happy with the injury update about Darren Waller after the talented tight end’s MRI revealed the extent of his knee injury. Things could certainly be worse for the Las Vegas Raiders after an MRI was done on tight end Darren Waller’s knee. If anything, the Raiders should be pretty relieved after the extent of Waller’s knee injury was revealed in an MRI. According to a tweet from Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the MRI indicated that Waller is dealing with a strained IT band in his hurt knee. Rapoport also stated that this is “some very good news” for Waller and the Raiders. #Raiders Pro Bowl TE Darren Waller suffered just a strained IT band in his knee, sources told me and @TomPelissero said after his MRI. Getty The Cowboys may sit Ezekiel Elliott as he recovers from a knee injury. The Dallas Cowboys could change up their strategy after all when it comes to Ezekiel Elliott. According to ESPN’s Ed Werder, the Cowboys could give Elliott time off to heal up his lingering knee injury. That would including possibly sitting out the Pro Bowl running back for next week’s game versus the New Orleans Saints. “Source: Cowboys will consider providing running back Ezekiel Elliott time off to heal from the knee injury he’s been managing, including the possibility of holding him out of next Thursday night’s game in New Orleans, according to a source,” says Werder. “IR not believed a consideration.” Elliott has dealt with the knee injury throughout the 2021 season, but re-aggravated the injury last Sunday versus the Kansas City Chiefs. Despite the injury persisting — and only a four-year recovery period — Elliott played through the ailment in the Cowboys’ loss to the Las Vegas Raiders on Thanksgiving day. However, it was clear that Elliott wasn’t at full strength. Not only...
Getty Ezekiel Elliott is confused about his workload. Dallas Cowboys star running back Ezekiel Elliott appeared to be just as confused as fans were about his lack of touches on Thanksgiving. The Cowboys had nearly an even split in the backfield against the Raiders with Tony Pollard’s ten carries combined with Elliott’s nine rushes. Elliott was utilized a bit more in the passing game with six receptions compared to Pollard’s four catches. When Elliott was asked about his lack of touches, the Cowboys running back admitted he was unsure about why he was not on the field more against the Raiders. “Yeah, I don’t know,” Elliott responded during his postgame press conference. “Yeah, I don’t know. I feel alright, but it probably was [related to his injury].” Elliott was also asked about his limited snaps in the second quarter, and the running back offered no explanation. “Yeah, I don’t know,” Elliott noted. GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers hasn’t practiced all week due to a toe injury but is expected to play Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams. Rodgers said Wednesday he has a toe fracture and that the injury occurred while he was working out at home during his quarantine after testing positive for COVID-19. “Yeah, he’ll play,” Packers coach Matt LaFleur said Friday. The toe injury caused Rodgers to practice one day last week, though the reigning MVP still threw for 385 yards and four touchdowns in a 34-31 loss at Minnesota. During the week leading up to the Vikings game, Rodgers only practiced on Friday. Rodgers didn’t practice this Friday, though he has no designation on the injury report that the Packers released later in the day. “He didn’t participate in practice, but he was out there and relaying the calls to Jordan (Love, the backup quarterback), just getting that practice of saying the play calls,” LaFleur said. The Packers (8-3) announced Friday that assistant offensive line coach Luke Butkus won’t attend...
Getty The Cowboys may have to be cautious with Ezekiel Elliott's workload. The Dallas Cowboys will likely utilize a new strategy due to Ezekiel Elliott’s injury moving forward. As Elliott continues to deal with a nagging knee injury, the Cowboys’ plan to lessen his workload moving forward, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Not only that, but Elliott’s injury will linger all season long, says Rapoport. “This knee injury, bone bruise in his knee, is something that’s going to linger all season. Unless they step in and basically take Zeke off the field, it seems like it’s something that he’s going to play with. Just listening to Jerry Jones after the game. They’re going to alter the game plan a little bit because of Zeke’s injury. May have to get as, Jones mentioned, Tony Pollard 25 or so touches. May have to flip the roles a little bit just because Zeke is not himself. We’ll see if he can get out to a point where he is health enough where we don’t notice his knee. But until they...
LONDON (AP) — Chelsea left back Ben Chilwell will be sidelined for six weeks but could face surgery and a longer layoff if his injured knee doesn’t improve, manager Thomas Tuchel said Friday. The 24-year-old England international sustained an ACL injury Tuesday in Chelsea’s 4-0 victory over Juventus in a Champions League game at Stamford Bridge. “He has a partial injury of his ACL and the decision is to treat it conservatively,” Tuchel said. “The next six weeks will tell the story, actually, if he makes it and will be fully available … or needs a surgery after that.” The German manager, speaking ahead of a Premier League match against Manchester United on Sunday, said he is “very positive” because Chilwell’s knee has responded well to initial treatment. “We have to wait. It does not help if we start now speaking about worst-case scenarios because there’s also a best-case scenario,” he said. Chelsea leads second-place Manchester City by three points entering the weekend and has allowed a league-best four goals after 12 games. “There’s never a good moment for big...
Getty Tre'Davious White on the field for warmups before a game against the Houston Texans. Buffalo Bills cornerback Tre’Davious White could be missing significant time after suffering a knee injury in the team’s Thanksgiving game against the New Orleans Saints. White was hurt in the second quarter on Thursday’s game while covering a pass, with his knee turning awkwardly. He went to the sidelines in obvious pain and was later taken to the locker room. The Buffalo Bills’ star cornerback, Tre’Davious White, left their Thanksgiving game with a potentially serious knee injury. After losing to the Indianapolis Colts and Jonathan Taylor and falling to second-place in the AFC East behind the New England Patriots, the Buffalo Bills were looking to get back in the win-column. They faced off against the New Orleans Saints on Thanksgiving, who are battered by injuries on the offensive side of the ball. But, the Bills received a scare in the first half. Cornerback Tre’Davious White left the game after apparently buckling his left knee on a play. Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott was limited in the first half of the team’s Thanksgiving game against the Las Vegas Raiders. Entering their Thanksgiving Day game against the Las Vegas Raiders, the Dallas Cowboys offense was already without top wide receivers Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb. During the first half, it became apparent that Elliott was not on the field after the first couple of plays in the game. He did appear later in the second quarter to score a goal-line touchdown. That was his only play of the quarter. The reason for his limited play is due to Elliott dealing with a knee injury that he has downplayed. FOXBORO (CBS) – The Patriots had two key players missing from practice on Thanksgiving Day ahead of Sunday’s AFC showdown against the Tennessee Titans. Rookie Christian Barmore was missing from practice with a knee injury. Offensive lineman Trent Brown was also absent with a calf injury, the same ailment that forced the Patriots to place him on injured reserve earlier in the year. Rookie Rhamondre Stevenson was added to the injury report as a limited participant with a knee injury. The Titans were missing eight players, including standout wide receiver A.J. Brown, who has a chest injury.
Vince Biegel took a circuitous route to land back on the Miami Dolphins’ active roster this week ahead of Sunday’s home game against the Carolina Panthers. After missing the entire 2020 season with a torn Achilles, the outside linebacker who contributed significantly in 2019 suffered a calf injury in training camp. He was released with an injury settlement in early September, freeing him up to join another team. But Biegel found himself re-signing for a spot back on the Dolphins’ practice squad in October and was activated for two games this season. With fellow outside linebacker Brennan Scarlett placed on injured reserve following Sunday’s win at the New York Jets, Biegel was the obvious choice to replace him on the team’s 53-man roster. “I think the game of football is a journey and sometimes the gift is the struggle,” said Biegel on Wednesday. “It’s been quite a journey this year, and I wouldn’t want it any other way. I’m just thankful to be back with a great organization like the Dolphins and help this team come out...

Getty David Bakhtiari #69 of the Green Bay Packers leaves the field following a game against the Chicago Bears at Lambeau Field on November 29, 2020 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Packers defeated the Bears 45-21. A great deal of mystery has surrounded All-Pro left tackle David Bakhtiari’s recovery process for the Green Bay Packers over the past several weeks, and now we finally have some clarity on why. According to Tom Pelissero and Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, Bakhtiari recently underwent arthroscopic surgery to “clean up the knee that was reconstructed back in January” after he tore his ACL in practice on New Year’s Eve last year. The procedure means Bakhtiari will not practice for a second consecutive week or play against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 12, but Pelissero added “there’s optimism” the Packers will get back their top offensive lineman for the final stretch of the 2021 season. David Bakhtiari is feeling much better after the procedure. Hope on the #Packers’ end is he continues to improve through the bye and is back and...
The Kansas City Chiefs believe they dodged disaster on Sunday, with cornerback Rashad Fenton leaving the game with a knee injury. Sunday couldn’t have gone better for the Kansas City Chiefs. Well, almost. Kansas City beat the Dallas Cowboys, 19-9, at Arrowhead Stadium. It was a dominant performance by the defense, which intercepted Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott twice, sacked him five times and held the Cowboys’ offense to three field goals. However, the Chiefs had to be concerned after third-year corner Rashad Fenton made a second-half tackle along the sideline but then crawled off the field in obvious pain. Afterwards, the team stated Fenton had a knee injury and would need an MRI. After Ravens outside linebacker Tyus Bowser’s sack late in the second quarter of Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears was called back because of a defensive holding penalty on cornerback Marlon Humphrey, his teammates told him the next one would come around. With the Ravens clinging to a 16-13 lead during the final seconds, Bowser couldn’t ask for a better time to record his second sack. The veteran linebacker pushed away Bears offensive lineman Larry Borom before sacking backup quarterback Andy Dalton, solidifying the Ravens’ win and an impressive day for the pass rush. “What a great time for that second one to come, putting the icing on the cake,” Bowser said. “So, today, just being able to go out there, finish the game and come out with the win here in Chicago, it was awesome.” Bowser was a force in the Ravens’ front seven throughout the afternoon. In addition to the two sacks, he had five total tackles and a forced fumble. “Tyus Bowser has been playing as good of football as any outside linebacker...
Getty Tre Brown suffered a significant knee injury against the Cardinals. An important part of the Seattle Seahawks secondary could miss some significant time as the team tries to bounce back from a 3-7 record. Rookie cornerback Tre Brown suffered a patellar tendon injury against the Arizona Cardinals and will undergo more tests to determine how long he will remain out of the lineup. Head coach Pete Carroll provided the update during his postgame press conference on Sunday, November 21. He stopped short of declaring that the injury would be season-ending, but he acknowledged that “those are pretty tough.” Brown suffered the injury while attempting to cover AJ Green on a deep pass down the right sideline. His knee appeared to give out as he went to knock away the ball, sending him to the turf. Brown was able to leave the field, but he limped while walking to the sideline. Following the injury, Sidney Jones moved over to the left cornerback position. Bless Austin came into the game and took over for Jones at the right cornerback...
Chicago Bears rookie quarterback Justin Fields was knocked out of a loss to Baltimore with a rib injury on Sunday, and the Green Bay Packers might have suffered a huge blow when left tackle Elgton Jenkins went out with a left knee injury in a loss to NFC North rival Minnesota. Fields walked to the tunnel after the first drive of the second half and team officials later announced the rib injury. He was replaced by Andy Dalton. Dalton threw two touchdown passes, including a 49-yarder to Marquise Goodwin in the closing minutes, but the Bears lost their fifth straight, 16-13. Fields was coming off several promising outings but struggled against the Ravens, going 4 of 11 for 79 yards before the injury. Dalton could end up starting on Thanksgiving when Chicago plays at Detroit. The Bears also lost defensive back Duke Shelley (hamstring), who was hurt covering a fourth-quarter punt. Ravens defensive end Calais Campbell suffered a foot injury away from the ball on the first drive of the second half. The Packers’ Jenkins, a Pro Bowl selection at...
It seems like the Green Bay Packers are concerned about the an injury to Elgton Jenkins, one of their starting offensive linemen.  Things don’t look great for the Green Bay Packers right now. First there’s the fact that Green Bay somehow managed to lose on the road against a less-than-stellar Minnesota Vikings team. Then there’s the fact that one of their starting offensive linemen suffered an injury to his left knee. According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Packers are apparently concerned that Elgton Jenkins suffered a devastating injury in that loss to the Vikings Sunday evening. In a tweet, Rapoport detailed that a source indicated there is some fear that Jenkins’ left knee injury may actually be a torn ACL. If that’s the case, the Packers, and Jenkins, just received some horrible news. Rapoport mentioned that Jenkins will have an MRI to examine just how extensive his knee injury actually is. The fear is that #Packers stellar OL Elgton Jenkins tore his ACL, source said. Would be a significant blow, but he’ll have an MRI to determine the...

The Green Bay Packers may have a tougher time being patient with getting David Bakhtiari back on the field after their next-best offensive lineman went down with a serious injury during Sunday’s 34-31 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. The Packers lost Pro Bowl offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins to a left knee injury on the go-ahead touchdown drive that gave them a 24-23 lead over the Vikings early in the fourth quarter. The 2019 second-round pick needed the help of trainers to limp off the field and was eventually carted into the locker room after spending a short amount of time in the team’s sideline medical tent. Jenkins was initially listed as questionable to return, but the Packers ruled him out prior to Aaron Rodgers’ 75-yard touchdown bomb to Marquez Valdes-Scantling late in the fourth quarter. Yosh Nijman played the rest of the game at left tackle. According to...
The Kansas City Chiefs got a scare on Sunday morning, but then some great follow-up news with Tyrann Mathieu being active against the Dallas Cowboys. If the Kansas City Chiefs are going to make their move in the AFC, they need Tyrann Mathieu. Mathieu, who practiced all week without an injury designation in preparation for the Dallas Cowboys, suddenly popped up on the injury report Sunday morning with a knee ailment. However, after working out with head trainer Rick Burkholder prior to the contest, Mathieu was deemed able to play. He’s active for the game. The Chiefs face a big challenge to stop the Cowboys passing attack. That task becomes much tougher if Tyrann Mathieu can’t go for Kansas City.  If the Chiefs want to score a big win against the Cowboys they will need to keep Dak Prescott and the Dallas passing attack under control. A healthy Tyrann Mathieu would give Kansas City a massive boost in their hopes to stop Prescott from racking up yards through the air. Unfortunately, head coach Andy Reid and his staff may need to make other plans. Mathieu has been officially ruled as questionable for the Sunday afternoon game due to a knee injury. His absence will take away a ton of versatility from the Chiefs’ secondary. Mathieu may not be the most disciplined safety in the NFL, but he is one of the most dynamic playmaking safeties in the league. His ability to make plays at the line of scrimmage and drop into coverage to protect the final third of the field is a key to any success the Kansas City defense has enjoyed this season. S...
The Ravens on Saturday ruled wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown out of Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears, with a thigh injury sidelining the team’s top target. Brown, who leads the Ravens with 52 catches for 719 yards and six touchdowns this season, has appeared in all nine games for the Ravens. But he missed practice Wednesday and Thursday and was limited Friday. He was considered questionable for Week 11 on Friday’s injury report. With Brown out, the Ravens will turn to Sammy Watkins and rookie Rashod Bateman as their starters. There are injury questions further down the depth chart, though, with Devin Duvernay (knee) questionable and Miles Boykin (finger) ruled out. The Ravens also moved guard Ben Cleveland to the 53-man roster, putting the rookie one step closer to returning to the field. Cleveland was carted off the field in Week 5 with a knee injury, ending a timeshare at left guard with Ben Powers. He was designated to return to practice Nov. 8, and coach John Harbaugh said Monday that Cleveland could be an option...

BEREA, Ohio (AP) — Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield is not practicing Wednesday in hopes of letting several injuries heal so he can play this week against the winless Detroit Lions. Mayfield has played most of the season with a torn labrum and fracture in his left, non-throwing shoulder. He suffered a bruised right knee in Sunday’s loss to New England, which came a week after he hurt his left foot at Cincinnati. “This is probably the most beat up I’ve ever been in my career, and it’s not like it’s one particular thing, it’s multiple,” said Mayfield, who limped slightly as he walked to the podium to speak with reporters. ”It’s just that time of year.” But it’s also a critical stretch for the Browns (5-5), whose playoff hopes are fading with each loss. After playing the Lions (0-8-1), they’ll begin a unique three-week stretch in which they’ll face Baltimore, get their bye, and play the Ravens (6-3) again with perhaps the AFC North on the line. At this point, Mayfield plans to play again this week — he missed...
CLEVELAND (AP) — Banged-up Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield is day to day after bruising his right knee in Sunday’s blowout loss at New England — his latest injury. Mayfield, who has been playing with a damaged left shoulder for several weeks, had to leave in the third quarter after being hit by blitzing Patriots linebacker Matthew Judon. Mayfield struggled to stand before being assessed in the sideline medical tent. Browns backup quarterback Case Keenum replaced Mayfield and finished the game. On Monday, Browns coach Kevin Stefanski didn’t provide much information on Mayfield other than to say he was “feeling good about where he is.” Stefanski said the team’s medical staff has ruled out any structural damage for Mayfield. The Browns (5-5) host the Detroit Lions (0-8-1) this week, and Stefanski was asked if it might be beneficial for Mayfield to sit out and rest. “He’s fighting through it,” Stefanski said. “We’ll always make smart decisions with our players with consultation with the medical staff, with the player. But he’s fighting through it.” Mayfield went 11 of 21 for just 73...
Getty T.J. Watt is helped up after being attended to on the field. When T.J. Watt went down in the Pittsburgh Steelers-Detroit Lions game on November 14, the crowd of 58,000 went silent. The broadcast panned to the sullen faces of fans as teammates went down on one knee and surrounded Watt. After a couple of anxiety-riddled minutes, Watt walked off the field under his own power before heading into the dreaded blue tent for further evaluation. In his postgame press conference, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin identified injuries to his star linebacker’s hip and knee. On “Good Morning Football,” NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Watt will undergo an MRI on November 15. He is considered week-to-week and is expected to miss some time. An official update will come straight from the mouth of Tomlin during his weekly press conference on Tuesday, November 16. He’s usually very tight-lipped about injuries, so week-to-week is likely all we’ll end up getting until Watt returns to practice. Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones suffered an apparent knee injury in the team’s matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. T.J. Watt apparently suffered two injuries on the same play as the Pittsburgh Steelers struggled against the Detroit Lions Sunday. Sunday didn’t exactly go the way the Pittsburgh Steelers were hoping for. In a tie against the winless Detroit Lions, linebacker T.J. Watt went down with an injury. Now there’s a good chance that Watt may miss a bit of time. According to an update shared by ProFootballTalk after the game, Watt is now dealing with two injuries: one to his knee and another to his hip. According to the update, Watt will have scans done in the morning to determine the extent of the injuries. Apparently the two injuries happened on the same play. Steelers LB T.J. Pittsburgh Steelers star pass rusher, T.J. Watt, left the team’s game against the Detroit Lions with what looked like a knee injury. Watt is a three-time Pro Bowler and who many would consider the midseason Defensive Player of the Year in the NFL, seemingly in a battle with fellow AFC North pass-rusher Myles Garrett. The 27-year-old and Wisconsin product was able to limp off the field after bending his knee awkwardly, but many Steelers fans immediately assumed the worst. Hopefully, as Watt heads to the injury tent, it’s not as bad as it seems. Oh no, oh no. TJ Watt sacks Jared Goff and immediately grabbed for his knee.
