TIGHTSQUEEZE, Virginia — As the great philosopher-poet Bret Michaels taught us, every rose has its thorn. Every night has its dawn. Every Cowboy sings his sad, sad song. The highs in life are not possible without the lows. Love is not possible without the sting of pain. And joy is impossible without hardship. So, this year, let’s all give thanks for the presidency of Joe Biden. It has been nearly a half-century since we last saw gas lines and families worried over whether they could afford to heat their homes or put food on the table for Thanksgiving. Every few times in a century, it is important for Americans to have a crash course in economics — lest we forget to appreciate how truly lucky we are to live in America, this land of bounty and endless opportunity. We are sure due for another class in stagflation. Not since the great Georgia peanut economist Jimmy Carter was in the White House have we talked this much about inflation. New polling shows a staggering 77% of Americans agree that inflation is upon us and threatening...

Nicole Kidman, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Gwen Stefani, Heidi Klum, Miley Cyrus and many more celebs posted behind-the-scenes pics of their traditions on social media and penned the reasons why they feel thankful in 2021.  Kidman posted a photo of herself and her husband, Keith Urban, embracing on the beach. "Just feeling incredibly grateful," she captioned the image.  Zeta-Jones shared a video on Instagram of her Thanksgiving dinner with her husband, Michael Douglas, and their children, Dylan, 21, and Carys, 18. "Happy Thanksgiving to all. So much to be thankful for," she wrote.  HOW STARS HAVE CELEBRATED THANKSGIVING OVER THE YEARS Stefani and Blake Shelton spent their first Thanksgiving as husband and wife along with her sons Kingston, 15, Zuma, 13, and Apollo, 7, at the country star's ranch in Oklahoma. Even the family dog got in on the action, as Jade alluded to in her caption: "Happy Thanksgiving from me and mine, lol. Peep Teddy photo bombing us." Jade is likely giving thanks this year to her plastic surgeons, who gave the reality mom a complete makeover. Just months ago, the 24-year-old MTV star had fat transferred to her breasts, while she has also had a Brazilian butt lift and liposuction in her plastic surgery transformation. Jade opened up about her "boob job" back in May, as she told fans: "No implants, just some fat transferred. Most read in The US SunCASHING IN States...
BOSTON (CBS) – Several communities across the state had dozens of volunteers stepping up to lend a hand for those experiencing homelessness and hunger this Thanksgiving. One of those was the Pine Street Inn, where Boston Mayor Michelle Wu had the honor of carving the turkey with some help from Bruins star Charlie McAvoy. Hot meals, with all the fixings, were then handed out. NANTUCKET, Mass. (AP) — President Joe Biden on Thursday wished Americans a happy and closer-to-normal Thanksgiving, the second celebrated in the shadow of the coronavirus pandemic, in remarks welcoming the resumption of holiday traditions in many homes. “As we give thanks for what we have, we also keep in our hearts those who have been lost and those who have lost so much,” the president said in a video greeting recorded with first lady Jill Biden at the White House before their trip to Nantucket, Massachusetts, for the holiday weekend. On Nantucket, the Bidens visited the Coast Guard station at Brant Point to meet virtually with U.S. servicemembers from around the world and chat with personnel at the station. “I’m thankful for these guys,” the president said when asked what he was thankful for, referring to the Coast Guard members standing ramrod straight in front of him on the grounds. The press was not allowed inside to witness his remarks to servicemembers abroad. Well-wishers waved and cheered as the Bidens traveled by motorcade to the Coast Guard station. From Nantucket,...

On today’s Breitbart News Daily Podcast, host Alex Marlow rips the media for intentionally leaving questions surrounding the Waukesha car ramming unanswered. President Biden has decided to release millions of barrels of oil from the strategic reserve in a move that in no way has anything to do with his plummeting poll numbers. Joe has dusted off an old Democrat bogeyman to blame for the crisis – the oil companies. (He insists his own green anti-drilling policies are irrelevant.) Additionally, shoplifting is getting out of control in Democrat-run cities. And NPR suggests you air-kiss your family this Thanksgiving and ask for permission to hug because of Covid. Rep. Jim Jordan from Ohio is our guest, talking about his new book, Do What You Said You Would Do. We discuss why the Swamp is so awful and what we must do to dismantle the Deep State. Caller of the Day Mike in Wisconsin blames the Democrat Media Complex at the local and state level for the riots in Kenosha and lawlessness in Waukesha – and he’s correct. YONKERS, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) — A Westchester County family is certainly counting their blessings this Thanksgiving. Their little girl is about to celebrate her first birthday. On Wednesday, they reunited with some of the heroes who came to the rescue when a drunk driver crashed into the baby and her mother in Yonkers, CBS2’s Tony Aiello reported. READ MORE: Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade Balloon Inflation Celebration Returns On Upper West SideThere were smiles in November after a terrible scare on July 23. Wednesday’s happy scene was in a stark contrast to the frightening moments when Yonkers cops rescued baby Leslie and her mother, Mirna Palacios, after a drunk driver smashed into the pair and pushed them through the plate glass window of a barber shop. Palacios, who is still being treated for physical and psychological injury, wrote a note that was read at the reunion with rescuers. “No one expects to be the victim of such a horrible accident. No one expects or wants to be the center of so much attention. But what an amazing thing it is to be...
Sen. Chuck Schumer and President Joe Biden have a lot to do. When the Senate left last week for the Thanksgiving recess, the end-of-year workload was building up. The House added to it the day after senators’ departure by passing the Build Back Better plan, President Joe Biden’s climate change and economic security package. Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has vowed to pass that budget reconciliation bill before the Christmas break. But there are more immediate demands when the Senate returns for work late afternoon on Monday, Nov. 29. For example, passing some measure to fund the government before the current funding measure runs out just four days later. By midnight, Dec. 3, they’ll have to pass a continuing resolution to keep the money flowing at current levels. That’s because the regular funding mechanism—the 12 appropriations bills that comprise the budget—have not been finished, despite the fact that we’re two months into fiscal year 2022. The lack of a budget is having real consequences for governance. The Biden administration has essentially imposed a hiring freeze on new personnel because they’ve having to economize, or as one official...
IT'S set to be a Christmas like no other with social distancing; face masks; rapid testing, quarantine, and isolation set to take the shine off traditional family gatherings. The official advice from the Centers for Disease Control is to stay home during the holidays, wear a mask whenever you’re around people from outside your household, and maintain proper hand hygiene, in a bid to protect yourself from Covid. 5Wearing a mask is one of the ways to help reduce the spread of cornavirus 5Christmas looks a little different this year "Celebrating virtually or with members of your own household (who are consistently taking measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19) poses the lowest risk for spread," the CDC's advice reads. But Christmas celebrations - while they may be different this year - and the festive spirit has not been completely canceled, despite official guidelines warning to avoid everything from singing to sharing food. According to the CDC, some of the best ways to reduce the risk of infection if attending a gathering over the holiday season is to have conversations with the host...
Each year I like to remind our supporters to recall what life was like for the Pilgrims who arrived on these shores in December of 1620. As the Plimoth Plantation describes: Many of the colonists fell ill. They were probably suffering from scurvy and pneumonia caused by a lack of shelter in the cold, wet weather. Although the Pilgrims were not starving, their sea-diet was very high in salt, which weakened their bodies on the long journey and during that first winter. As many as two or three people died each day during their first two months on land. Only 52 people survived the first year in Plymouth. When Mayflower left Plymouth on April 5, 1621, she was sailed back to England by only half of her crew. Nevertheless, a year after their arrival they sat down for a feast of thanksgiving. They had befriended and made a treaty of mutual protection with the Pokanoket Wampanoag leader, Ousamequin, also known as Massasoit to the Pilgrims. In the fall of 1621, the colonists marked their first harvest with a three-day celebration. Massasoit and 90 of...
An Illinois couple used their money saved for a catered reception for their wedding to feed the needy for Thanksgiving. After cancelling their original plans because of COVID-19, Emily Bugg, 33, and Billy Lewis, 34, married on Oct. 1st in Chicago. The newlyweds bought 200 Thanksgiving dinners for clients of Thresholds, a nonprofit mental health provider for people with serious mental illnesses and substance abuse issues. The dinners were catered by Big Delicious Planet who shared the news on Instagram: “As this pandemic has dragged on and restrictions on gathering sizes have been mandated, we’re getting second postponements and a few cancellations. Emily & Billy, one of our couples whose wedding we were to cater in October, told Grace Hamilton, BDP’s Director of Weddings & Events, they wanted to cancel their wedding, but asked if they could repurpose their wedding deposit to meals for a non-profit. DEAR READERS: Happy Thanksgiving! I want to wish each and every one of you a happy, healthy season of love and connection to family. This is the time of year when so many people are focused on family, yet it is different this year. Indeed, 2020 has proven different in myriad ways. Harriette Cole  We have been living under the invisible veil of COVID-19 for many months now. So many of us have lived in some form of perpetual quarantine in order to protect ourselves. And right now, the surge of spread of this virus is requiring us to be ever more vigilant. Scientists suggest that one way that outbreaks are spiraling out of control is through intimate family contact. Small gatherings of loved ones who let their guard down and do not wear masks are a current culprit in viral spread, primarily because — according to these scientists — the virus can be transmitted by people who have no apparent symptoms. My intent is not to scare you. Instead, in the spirit of family love and connection, I am...
If you follow the CDC guidance on COVID-19, most likely there will be fewer people at your Thanksgiving dinner passing around the cranberry relish and green bean casserole; but that does not mean the holiday has to be devoid of gratitude. A recent study conducted at Indiana University found that few things are as effective as gratitude at unshackling people from toxic emotions (which we built up in abundance in 2020). Gratitude also provides lasting, lifting effects on the brain—which can help bring you and your family members a more positive attitude that can last the entire holiday season. JIM DALY: THANKSGIVING -- 20 THINGS TO STILL BE GRATEFUL FOR IN 2020 (YES, EVEN IN 2020) Here are four simple ways to bring more gratitude to a locked-down Thanksgiving: 1. Focus on What Unites No matter who’s at your table, a good pivot from the election divisiveness is to ask everyone to express gratitude for what unites us as a family -- and not focus on what divides us. A tried-and-tested pre-dinner tradition in our families is to ask each...

To improve relations with communities and police, NYPD leaders and Black activists joined together in New York City to hand out turkeys for Thanksgiving to a community in Brooklyn on Monday according to reports. Gwen Carr, mother of Eric Garner, was there after making peace with cops after the death of her son. “I think it’s beautiful to give to the families so they can have Thanksgiving with their loved ones and have a meal together,” Carr said. “It’s time to give back to the community and that’s what today is all about.” Garner died after being put in an apparent chokehold by NYPD Officer Daniel Pantaleo in 2014. A state grand jury at the time declined to indict Pantaleo, but the department fired Pantaleo in 2019 following a disciplinary hearing. The event took place in Brownsville, which has endured some of the highest crime rates and gun violence in the city. President Donald Trump wished Americans a 'Happy Thanksgiving' while making a veiled swipe at his former Defense Secretary James Mattis at the annual turkey pardoning ceremony on Tuesday.  'We send our love to every member of the armed forces and the law enforcement heroes risking their lives to keep America safe, to keep America great - and as I say America First, we shouldn't go away from that, America First,' Trump told a crowd of about 100 in the White House Rose Garden.  This time around, most of attendees were wearing masks to prevent the spread of COVID-19. First lady Melania Trump stood next to her husband, while Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner and their three children - Arabella, Joseph and Theodore - were in attendance.   Earlier in the morning, Trump had lashed out at Mattis for saying that the incoming Biden-Harris administration should do away with Trump's 'America First' policies.  The lame duck president didn't bring up the election - nor did he concede - but he did pardon a 'lucky bird' named Corn.  President Donald Trump pardons Corn,...

Frank Fonseca and his wife Melissa Pena were home at the time of the destruction. “We came back from the clinic and our neighbor was calling me out for some reason,” Fonseca said. “He started yelling at me and rattling my gate. The holiday season is upon us, and for the time being, COVID isn’t letting up. As the airborne virus looms and the third wave of cases rising seems imminent, many are left feeling rather clueless about how to handle the holidays. Despite the dangers of meeting with loved ones in intimate settings, there are still plenty of precautions to help ensure Thanksgiving isn’t totally canceled.  Hide Wearing a mask can cut down the risk of infection, especially when paired up with social distancing guidelines. But how does one navigate a holiday made for shoveling food into your mouth while trying to keep their face covered?  Hide Choose an effective mask The most important thing you can do to have a happy and healthy Thanksgiving this year is to wear an effective mask. It’s great that more people are wearing them these days, but unfortunately not all masks are made equal. You can’t beat an N95 for filtration purposes, but since those should be reserved for medical workers, your next best bet is an FDA-registered surgical mask. We really like the...
