FROM the outside looking in, you'd assume that the hardest part of being a bartender is dealing with the huge crowds of people wanting to be served. But for Katherine Dinsdale, cleaning up at the end of the night has got to be the worst thing about the job. 2Manchester-based bartender Katherine Dinsdale has revealed some of the worst aspects of her jobCredit: Katherine Dinsdale Writing for The Mirror, the Manchester-based bartender shared some of her low points while working in pubs and clubs across the city. Recently, Katherine claimed a TikTok influencer with 10,000 followers came in on one of her shifts and demanded free drinks. She wrote: "When I refused, she smashed a glass on the ground and said, 'this is why celebrities don’t come here'." Awkward. And while diva behaviour is to be expected from micro-influencers and Z-Listers, Katherine says ordinary pub-goers are also a "nightmare if you supply them with enough booze". I, like everyone else, have been horrified by the accidental shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins by actor Alec Baldwin on the set of the movie 'Rust' ever since I heard the news in October. When I saw the trailer for Alec's first one-on-one interview with ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos, I had the same reaction that CNN journalist Andrew Kaczynski had. He tweeted 'I know it's TV, an industry in which I work, but I find something unseemly about this big promo/hoopla with graphics and dramatic sounds to talk about a woman's tragic death'. The dramatic trailer showcased itself more like a teaser for an upcoming fictional television show than of a famous actor's first sitdown amid a still-pending investigation into the tragic death of an innocent woman. It read tonally distasteful and a bit confusing. Last night, I sat down to watch the entire interview between George and Alec and not much of my opinion has changed. The dramatic trailer for Alec Baldwin's ABC News interview with George Stephanopoulos showcased itself more like a teaser for an upcoming fictional...
It’s been a hell of a week for France. One one hand, the country got acquainted with the freshly-launched presidential campaign of the “French Donald Trump” Eric Zemmour, whose entire campaign seems to be based on spewing anti-immigrant rhetoric. On the other, it honored the life of Josephine Baker, an American-born Black entertainer and French resistance fighter by inducting her into the Panthéon, France’s “Tomb of Heroes.” “I just want to touch on the dichotomy between Zemmour declaring his run for president, and Josephine Baker being honored as the first Black woman to enter Panthéon. It’s almost as if France is stuck between two directions,” said RFI’s Christina Okello, who referred to Baker as “the face” of immigration. “As a black woman myself, I think she’s a great model, and France next year will have to choose, does it want to be an open country or be protectionist?” But does Zemmour really stand a chance? “These issues in the case of Zemmour have animated his entire career and particularly his campaign: immigration and national identity. It’s a big question,...

Not a centimeter of fir without angel lights. In London, Christmas is celebrated with light and artificial snow. In the eyes of passersby, the city has changed. “That’s something you expect when you come to London, which is why you should be there at Christmas time.”, Says one of them in the TF1 statement above this article. Each street is more interesting than its neighbor. Most of the tourists do not know where to go. “This is my first year in London. It’s a dream, it’s wonderful.”, A young woman testifies. Department stores are also a part of the game. Every year, for more than a century, their windows ingeniously compete to attract customers. “There’s an amusement park. We have the intention of falling back into childhood, and it’s so magical.”, Declares a French woman. When Makayla Swift adopted her rescue dog, Milo, she had no idea that he would become a rescuer himself.  Swift was getting ready to go out when Milo took off out the door, dashing from one neighboring house to another before deciding on one. This is where he began to furiously scratch at the door. Swift was trying to drag him away when she heard a call for help coming from inside. Sherry Starr, who is 85, had slipped and fallen in her bathroom. She was stuck between the toilet and the tub and had been there all morning long. Starr had been yelling all morning hoping that someone would hear her. Thankfully, dogs’ hearing is much more sensitive than our human hearing, which is why Milo could instantly hear the distressed call for help. Swift quickly called 911, and the elderly woman was taken to the hospital for a checkup. She was bruised, but otherwise unharmed. (CNN)When the Supreme Court hears a constitutional challenge on Wednesday to a Mississippi ban on abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy, the justices will start with the two seminal decisions that secured the abortion right for women. The decisions, in 1973 and 1992, laid down constitutional markers while describing in powerful terms the difficult issues at hand. In Roe v. Wade, the justices acknowledged at the outset "the sensitive and emotional nature of the abortion controversy, of the vigorous opposing views, even among physicians, and of the deep and seemingly absolute convictions that the subject inspires." Nearly two decades later, in Planned Parenthood v. Casey, the justices asserted: "Men and women of good conscience can disagree, and we suppose some always shall disagree, about the profound moral and spiritual implications of terminating a pregnancy, even in its earliest stage. Some of us as individuals find abortion offensive to our most basic principles of morality, but that cannot control our decision. Our obligation is to define the liberty of all, not to mandate our own moral code." Read more Roe...

Eighteen miles south of the Central Valley home that was her prison, down Highway 99 past almond orchards and trucks overloaded with hay bales, sits the Madera County Superior Court. The four-story steel-structure with its light granite exterior boasts 10 courtrooms, large flat-screen monitors and a glass-skinned atrium. The courthouse opened in 2015 in this county of 160,000, part of a decades-long effort to shift funding and oversight of local courts to the state and ensure equal access to justice for all Californians. “The Madera Courthouse was designed to demonstrate the transparency and dignity of democracy, providing a place to facilitate the workings of the American ideals of justice,” the architect’s website says. An online forum for women created to tackle misogyny and offer dating advice has come under fire for echoing incel culture by scrutinising and ridiculing men.  Founded in the US in 2019 by a 'collective' of anonymous women 'from all walks of life' the blog Female Dating Strategy is a website and online community claiming to help women enter 'relationships that truly benefit them', that's since become a global phenomenon.  It was created in reaction to Red Pill or Incel communities - a collection of websites, blogs, and online forums which oppose feminism and promote masculinity and misogyny.  Core beliefs include that 'most men are not of value' to women, that a man's 'role is to be the pursuer', men must 'invest' in you before you allow them to have sex with you, and that it's not acceptable to date a 'financially-challenged man'.  FDS labels unsuitable men 'scrotes', claims males with personality disorders or small penises should be avoided, while women should never move in with a man before marriage or have sex on the first date. WE can only imagine how nerve-wracking it must be to pop the question - first and foremost, you're going to be stressed about whether your other half will say yes. On closer inspection, however, Melanie realised her daughter’s very clever scheme. Although the phone case was still outside the bedroom door, seemingly attached to the charger, the actual phone had been removed. In its place, Melanie’s daughter had just coloured in a piece of paper to look like a phone camera, and stuck it in the hole in her phone case. The mum said: “When your 14-year-old daughter has to hand her phone over at 8.30pm and leave it on charge outside my bedroom door… Trust no one!” The...
