The Miami Dolphins’ defense was swarming once again, and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and the offense did enough while a pair of rookies set team records Sunday. The Dolphins continued their surge that started halfway through the season, defeating the ailing New York Giants, 20-9, at Hard Rock Stadium and extending their winning streak to five games. The five consecutive victories match the Dolphins’ longest streak under coach Brian Flores. With Miami now 6-7, the Dolphins are putting themselves in the AFC playoff picture before their bye week with four games remaining in the regular season. They remain 1 1/2 games out of a Wild Card spot. “We’re just kind of focused on today,” Flores said as his team has gone from seven consecutive losses to five straight wins. “A tough victory in a 60-minute ball game, and we just try to take it one day at a time and not think about what’s happened in the past or talk about the future too much.” Tagovailoa was 30 of 41 for 244 yards and two touchdowns, avoiding...
Ohio State football head coach Ryan Day finally responds to his former five-star true freshman quarterback Quinn Ewers entering the transfer portal after only one semester in Columbus. Ryan Day was pure class when it came to Quinn Ewers leaving the Ohio State football team by way of the transfer portal. Ewers was the top quarterback prospect in the Class of 2022. The Texas native reclassified ahead of this college season so he could capitalize on NIL. He was not expected to play much, if at all, during his true freshman season in Columbus. With redshirt freshman C.J. Stroud running away with the job, Ewers made the wise decision to transfer with all of his eligibility still intact. The expectation is for the former five-star to return to the Lone Star State. Ewers is visiting Texas Tech this weekend and is reportedly considering Texas and Texas A&M as well. Here is what Day had to say about losing Ewers to the portal after only one semester on campus. Ryan Day on Quinn Ewers: "He was in a very unique situation, for sure. …...
moreby Bethany Blankley   While most Americans were legally traveling to visit relatives and celebrate Thanksgiving enjoying a few days off of work, Border Patrol agents were hard at work in Texas inundated with illegal travelers arriving at the U.S. southern border. Border Patrol agents assigned to Del Rio Sector in Texas, for example, arrested people coming from African and former Soviet countries over Thanksgiving, as well as known sex offenders from Mexico and Nicaragua. From Nov. 23-27, agents apprehended six Eritrean nationals who traveled from the northeast African country to the southern U.S. after the Biden administration halted immigration laws established by Congress. They apprehended two men from Syria on Nov. 23, and one man from Lebanon on Nov. 26, and one man from Tajikistan on the 27th, and one man from Uzbekistan. “We encounter individuals from all over the world attempting to illegally enter our country,” Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Jason D. Owens said in a statement, emphasizing how hard Border Patrol agents are working. “Our agents are focused and work hard to ensure that we...

Ohio State football fans had to reckon with losing one of their highest-ranked recruits ever with quarterback Quinn Ewers entering the transfer portal. Quinn Ewers was supposed to be the crown jewel of Ohio State’s recruiting class of 2022. Instead, he reclassified and joined the Buckeyes in 2021. That’s why his change of heart this December resulted in a trip to the transfer portal instead of a simple decommitment. As one of the top prospects ever, Ewers was a coveted recruit. However, he was unlikely to grab the Buckeyes’ starting quarterback job any time soon with C.J. Stroud performing so impressively in 2021. Ohio State football fans react to Quinn Ewers transferNow Ewers is in the transfer portal, leaving Ohio State football fans partly disappointed and partly unsurprised. Wait so Quinn Ewers is in the transfer portal. Hate to see him go. Several Republican state lawmakers ignored a new COVID-19 proof of vaccine policy at the New Jersey State House walking into the state Assembly chambers, accusing the Democratic majority of hypocrisy for allegedly violating their own policy on Thursday, Dec. 2. The new policy that went into effect Wednesday maintains that all people entering the Statehouse show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test. When the Republican members of the Democratic-controlled state Legislature realized that state troopers asking for vaccination proof or a negative COVID-19 test wouldn't physically block them if they failed to show it, they kept on walking, multiple news outlets are reporting. The troopers tried blocking the lawmakers walking to their seats sparking an approximately 15-minute standoff, but the legislators ultimately walked passed them to their seats in the Assembly chamber. Video from an NJ.com reporter shows troopers talking to legislators at the chamber doors. Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin said he was "outraged" by the incident.  NJGOP Executive Director Tom Symanski released a following statement accusing Senate President Stephen Sweeney and Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin from barring...
Puddles the mascot of the Oregon Ducks. (Photo by Tom Hauck/Getty Images) Michigan is finally king of the Big Ten, but as we head into conference championship week, there is still much to be decided in the NCAA conference power rankings. It finally happened. Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan team beat the Ohio State Buckeyes. It was one of the wildest games of the weekend, but it was hardly THE wildest. Auburn blew a lead to Alabama to keep the Crimson Tide in the College Football Playoff. They likely make it even with a loss to Georgia next week. Oh, speaking of next week, we’ve moved past rivalry week and now we’re moving on to Championship Week. All of the Power 5 conferences will have their championship games this weekend. There are some major surprises. The ACC Championship Game doesn’t have Clemson playing in it for the first time in seven years. Oklahoma didn’t make the Big 12 championship game, and now their head coaching vacancy might be the most appealing in the country. More on that later. For now, let’s get...

Getty Chase Elliott will need a contract extension in 2022. Hendrick Motorsports will enter the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season with all four drivers under contract. However, Chase Elliott’s deal only runs through the 2022 season, making an extension a priority for the championship-winning organization. Elliott is currently finishing out a four-year contract extension that he signed in June 2017. He finished the season fifth in points in the No. 24 Chevrolet and then switched to the No. 9 for 2018 and beyond. The three-time Most Popular Driver has been one of the most consistent drivers in the Cup Series and has continued to contend for a spot in the championship four. The driver of the No. 9 Chevrolet Camaro has spent his entire full-time Cup Series career with Hendrick Motorsports, dating back to the 2016 season when he won the pole for the Daytona 500. He has achieved a considerable amount in this span of time by delivering 117 top-10 finishes, 74 top-fives, and 13 wins. Elliott also finished the 2020 season as the champion. One interesting...

BOSTON (CBS) — With Thanksgiving in the rear view, the NFL season is about to really begin. As the league preps for December and January, a familiar face stands alone as the odds-on favorite to win MVP: Tom Brady. The 44-year-old quarterback has +240 odds to earn MVP this year, leaving him well ahead of Josh Allen (+550), Matthew Stafford (+900), Aaron Rodgers (+1000), Dak Prescott (+1000) and Patrick Mahomes (+1100) at Bet MGM. The odds are similar at DraftKings, where Brady has +300 odds to take home the award. Allen is at +450, while Stafford, Rodgers and Prescott are each at +1000. Brady leads the league with 29, four more than Mahomes and Allen, who have each played one more game than Brady entering Sunday. Brady also ranks third in passing yards, behind Mahomes and Carr, who have also played one more game than Brady entering Sunday. Brady and the Buccaneers face the Colts in Indianapolis on Sunday. Brady has won the MVP Award three times in his career — in 2007, 2010, and 2017, when he became the oldest MVP...
SWITZERLAND has banned all Brits from entering the country in a bid to contain a new strain of the coronavirus. Sajid Javid yesterday confirmed two cases of the Omicron Covid variant have been reported in the UK. 2Visitors walk at a Christmas market, amid the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, on the Sechselaeutenplatz square in Zurich, SwitzerlandCredit: Reuters 2 So far cases of the deadly Omicron Covid variant have appeared in Britain, Australia, Italy, Germany, South Africa, Botswana, Belgium, Hong Kong, Czech Republic and Israel. WHO first reported the new strain earlier this week after a case was reported in South Africa earlier this month, later calling it a "variant of concern," and that early evidence "suggests an increased risk of reinfection." The new strain reportedly has a high number of mutations in the virus’ spike protein. Now Switzerland has said only Swiss nationals and permanent residents can enter in a massive blow to Brit’s Christmas getaway plans. Swiss travellers from Britain, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Egypt and Malawi will also need to present a negative COVID-19...
A Republican Senate memo claims that few of the roughly 82,000 Afghans evacuated to the United States after the calamitous American pullout from Kabul in August were not properly vetted.  The memo claims that screenings have not been done on the evacuees to sort out possible threats and are only reliant on criminal and terrorist databases in a process that those interviewed called 'reckless.' Senate Republicans interviewed federal officials from the Department of Homeland Security, Department of Defense, Department of Justice and the State Department.  The memo, reported by the Washington Examiner, claimed that the Biden administration wanted the screening process streamlined.    About 75 percent of the evacuees from Afghanistan are not U.S. citizens, green card holders or Afghan Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) holders or applicants.   Only 700 of 82,000 admitted held SIVs. Spear warned that vaccine mandates "will have vast unintended consequences." "The U.S. is already facing unprecedented supply chain disruptions and delays due to many factors, including significant labor shortages, production shutdowns, a shortage of raw materials, and pent-up consumer demand," Spear continued, adding, "Our data shows that a vaccine mandate may very well further cripple the supply chain throughout the country by forcing up to 13% of drivers to leave the industry entirely." Trucking group Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association also went after the administration over vaccine mandates. The organization's spokeswoman, Norita Taylor, called the jab requirement an example of "how unnecessary government mandates can force experienced owner-operators and independent truckers out of business" and warned that the mandate would "send safe drivers off the road," the AP said. Canadian truckers aren't happy about it either. In a story from the Toronto Star headlined, "A trucking nightmare: Supply chain horrors feared as thousands of unvaccinated drivers won't be allowed to cross U.S.-Canada border," Canadian Trucking Alliance President Stephen Laskowski said, "This is making a bad situation a lot worse....

Cory Joseph of the Detroit Pistons may have prevented Isaiah Stewart from reaching the Los Angeles Lakers bench area. On Sunday, there was a pull apart between the Los Angeles Lakers and Detroit Pistons that led to LeBron James getting ejected from the contest after elbowing Isaiah Stewart in the eye, leaving him from a bloody face. Stewart was irate and tried to get to James numerous times, and he was ejected as well. There were fans wondering why Cory Joseph was standing near the Lakers bench. James Edward III of The Athletic spoke with crew chief for the game, Scott Foster, and asked why Joseph did not get assessed a technical foul. Foster said that Joseph stood near the bench to intercept Stewart if he tried to head towards that area. I was the pool reporter tonight. Traders work on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) in New York City, U.S., October 20, 2021.Brendan McDermid | Reuters If history is a guide, the market should do well in the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday week. The S&P 500 was slightly higher in the past week, buoyed by positive economic reports, particularly the unexpectedly strong 1.7% jump in October's retail sales. There are a number of economic reports in the week ahead. The most important release is Wednesday's personal consumption expenditures, which includes the inflation measure most watched by the Federal Reserve. "The last five trading days of November are traditionally positive, since 1950," said Sam Stovall, chief investment strategist at CFRA. "There's a two-thirds likelihood the market is up on the day before Thanksgiving and a 57% likelihood the day after Thanksgiving, and a 71% likelihood that it's up on Monday."Loading chart... The mood around a football locker room changes a little bit when a seven-game losing streak turns into two wins in five days. For Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, it’s no different, even as he continues to work through swelling of his fractured middle finger on his throwing hand. The final question Tagovailoa took at his Wednesday press conference following practice was about the touchdown dance he did after sealing Miami’s 22-10 upset victory over the Baltimore Ravens last Thursday night with a QB sneak for a touchdown. And he replicated the dance at the podium for all to see. It’s known as the “Smeeze” dance, which originated in the Bay Area, where former Alabama teammate Najee Harris, now with the Pittsburgh Steelers, is from. Tagovailoa picked it up from Harris and Tagovailoa’s younger brother, Taulia. “I thought that thing was cool when I saw it, so I learned how to do it. Then started doing it,” Tua Tagovailoa said as he broke into his moves. “It was good fun out there, especially when you score...
moreby Harry Wilmerding   U.S. retail sales increased in October as shoppers faced the largest price increase in 30 years entering the holiday season. Retail sales, a measure of how much consumers spent on goods, increased 1.7% in October, far exceeding September’s 0.7% figure, the U.S. Census Bureau reported Tuesday. Core sales, excluding autos, jumped 1.7% in October. The Dow Jones estimated a 1.5% increase in retail sales for October and a 1% jump in core sales, CNBC reported. “An improving COVID situation, easing supply constraints in the auto sector, and an early start to holiday shopping all boosted purchases last month,” Gregory Daco, chief U.S. economist at Oxford Economics, told the Daily Caller News Foundation. While retail sales saw a higher than expected jump in October, inflation remains high, with the consumer price index surging 0.9% in October and 6.2% year over year. Consumers are willing to pay higher prices, despite consumer sentiment sitting at a 10 year low and inflation at a 30 year high. “Households were still willing to open their wallets in the face of higher prices – which inflated nominal sales figures –...
The Statesboro Police Department recently made several arrests in entering auto cases. From SPD: Entering auto is a crime of opportunity which is on the rise nationally. Individuals or groups, working neighborhoods or apartment complexes at night, can check the door handles on dozens of vehicles in a short period of time with little risk of discovery. Once they find an unlocked vehicle, they target primarily unsecured firearms and items which are difficult or impossible to trace, like change and cash. Vehicles left with keys in them can be stolen as well. 90% of reported entering auto cases in the City of Statesboro involve unlocked vehicles. Criminal groups who once used drug sales as their primary source of income now send juveniles (who will face lesser consequences if caught than an adult would) to commit entering autos. Over the last two months, multiple reports of entering auto were reported by residents of apartment complexes and neighborhoods stretching from Fair Road to South Main Street. They occurred late at night and...
President Joe Biden banned all members of the Nicaraguan government from entering the U.S. in a proclamation on Tuesday in response to the country’s recent election. The ban applies to all elected officials, security force members, judges, mayors and others seen as undermining democracy in the region, according to the proclamation. It also includes President Daniel Ortega, his wife and Vice President Rosario Murillo. “The repressive and abusive acts of the Ortega government and those who support it compel the United States to act,” the proclamation read. “The Ortega government’s undemocratic, authoritarian actions have crippled the electoral process and stripped away the right of Nicaraguan citizens to choose their leaders in free and fair elections.” The U.S. imposed sanctions on Nicaragua on Monday alongside the U.K. and Canada, Reuters reported. It is a coordinated reaction to the country’s Nov. 7 elections widely viewed as illegitimate. Biden said it was in the country’s best interest to bar all those “who formulate, implement or benefit from policies or actions that undermine or injure democratic institutions or impede the return to democracy in...

Baylor Bears linebacker Terrel Bernard (2): (Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports) Oklahoma’s luck finally ran out as their loss knocks them completely out of the College Football Playoff conversation. Does that hurt the Big 12’s standing in the conference ranking? There weren’t a ton of upsets in Week 11 of the college football season. All of the teams even remotely in the College Football Playoff conversation won on Saturday. Well, except for Oklahoma. The Sooners lost to Baylor on the road, which shows the Playoff committee was right in never really considering the Sooners for Playoff contention. They never got higher than 8th in the rankings, and Michigan State and Michigan stayed ahead of them despite losses. This week, the Pac 12 and ACC have an opportunity to move up on the list for the first time in weeks. The Big 12 is now out of the Playoff conversation. In a provocative recent essay in the New York Times, the political historian Jon Grinspan places the distemper currently afflicting American politics in a broader context. In essence, he contends that we've been here before. Grinspan describes the period from the 1860s to 1900 as an "age of acrimony," with the nation as a whole "embroiled in a generation-long, culturewide war over democracy." Today, we find ourselves well into round two of that very war. But Grinspan urges his fellow citizens not to give up hope. A return to normalcy — boring perhaps, but tolerable — might well be right around the corner. Mark me down as skeptical. Party politics during the decades following the Civil War were notably raucous and contentious, Grinspan writes, with Election Day turnout "higher than in any other period in American history." Yet, despite all the commotion, not a lot got done. "The more demands Americans put on their democracy, the less they got." Then sometime around the turn of the twentieth century, "Americans decided to simmer down." Popular interest in national politics declined. So,...
NEW YORK (CBSDFW.COM/AP) — The average time for U.S. immigration cases to be resolved is nearly four years. But that’s not the mandate in one judge’s courtroom. New York Judge Francisco Prieto must attempt to rule within 300 days on dozens of cases he hears daily from families that just entered the country. The migrants are being sent to the front of the line with the idea that others will be less likely to migrate knowing a backlog of more than 1.4 million cases will no longer buy them a few years in the United States even if they lose. READ MORE: Sundance Square Friday 'Pop-Up' Clinic Gives Over 2,000 COVID-19 ShotsNearly six months ago, the Biden administration established a “dedicated docket” for families, many seeking asylum, in Prieto’s city and 10 others, including El Paso, Texas, Boston, San Francisco and Miami. WARSAW, Poland (AP) — Turkey’s Civil Aviation Authority said Friday that the country is halting airline ticket sales to Iraqi, Syrian and Yemeni citizens wanting to travel to Belarus, which in recent months became a route for migrants and refugees to enter the European Union. EU leaders have put increasing pressure on airlines to stop bringing people from the Middle East to Minsk, the capital of Belarus, from where asylum-seekers seeking better lives can then travel by car to the EU’s doorstep. Thousands have managed to cross illegally into EU member nations Poland, Lithuania and Latvia since the summer, though many thousands have also been kept from entering or pushed back. In a brief statement posted on Twitter, Turkey’s aviation authority said its decision to halt ticket sales was valid until further notice. Citing the Turkish decision, Belarusian airline Belavia said it also would not transport citizens of Iraq, Syria and Yemen on its Istanbul-Minsk flights starting Friday. Belavia said in a statement that it planned to reimburse the cost of already purchased tickets. Polish authorities say a...

A.T. Perry #9 of the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. (Photo by Grant Halverson/Getty Images) Michigan State and Wake Forest’s losses have the playoff rankings changing, and they also had an impact on the college football conference power rankings. It took one week of the College Football Playoff Rankings for one of the top four teams to get upset, knocking them out of the rankings immediately. Michigan State’s comeback effort against Purdue was for naught. It wasn’t the only major upset of the weekend. North Carolina finally got a major win, but it was at the expense of the ACC’s only remaining undefeated team and its only chance at making the College Football Playoff (although a very outside chance at that). Wake Forest lost a barn burner, and now they try to define their own season. So, how does this all impact the college football power rankings? Seven ranked teams lost to unranked teams last week. HOUSTON (AP) — Tyrod Taylor’s return from injury didn’t help the Houston Texans end their skid Sunday against Miami. But even though things didn’t go well for Taylor in a 17-9 loss to the Dolphins, coach David Culley is sticking with the veteran quarterback and said he’ll start when Houston (1-8) resumes play after this week off, on Nov. 21 at Tennessee. Culley said he spoke with Taylor to encourage him after Sunday’s performance when he threw three interceptions for just the second time in his NFL career and the first time since 2015. “He felt like going into that game that he knew that if he played well, we’d have a chance to win the game, and he didn’t,” Culley said. “And I just want to assure him that next time around … when we go to Tennessee, that it’s going to be better. But the success has seen mum-of-three, Jade, trolled online with strangers saying pageants sexualise young girls. Fiercely defending her decision to enter her daughter in beauty contests, Jade, 25, said: “It is nothing like the US shows, people are too quick to judge without knowing the...
New college football rankings after Week 10 saw Michigan State and Wake Forest fall from the ranks of the unbeaten and Alabama and Cincinnati survive upset bids.1. Georgia (9-0) beat Missouri 43-6Missouri actually led this game 3-0 for a brief moment sending alarm bells ringing throughout the greater Athens area. Everything was okay. The Dawgs improved to 9-0 and scored 43 of the next 46 points in the process. Stetson Bennett made some big plays in the passing game and JT Daniels even got some time for the first time in a long time. Expect Kirby Smart to give him a little more time and ramp up his activity in practice to see how his health handles it. Smart has bungled quarterbacks before but he wants to make sure he avoids that this time. He’ll want to keep Daniels engaged in case he needs to call him out of the bullpen to win a game in the SEC Championship Game or playoff later this year. Next: at Tennessee 2. Alabama beat LSU 20-14There were no style points awarded for...
After a historic World Series win, the Atlanta Braves face difficult roster decisions as they end 2021 with 14 free agents, including Freddie Freeman. Every MLB team is facing difficult decisions come the offseason, but the Braves may face some of the biggest challenges of any team. The Braves, who are set to win their first World Series title in 26 years, have many players to celebrate for their historic ascent through the postseason. The Braves came into the NL playoffs a division winner, but a distinctively weaker playoff team according to wins. While strong AL East teams like the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox claimed Wild Card slots and closed out the 91-71 Toronto Blue Jays, the 88-73 Atlanta Braves won their division by a six-win margin. The Braves then took on the toughest teams in baseball in the Milwaukee Brewers, Los Angeles Dodgers, then the Houston Astros. In every series, the Braves have emerged victorious due to their talented roster. Unfortunately for Atlanta, at least 14 of those talents will be hitting the free agent market...
Win or lose, the Houston Astros face difficult roster decisions as they end 2021 with nine free agents, including Carlos Correa, Justin Verlander and more. Whether the Astros win or lose the 2021 World Series, the Houston team should celebrate the success of making the playoffs every MLB season since 2017. This October marks the third in five years where the Astros made the World Series, an impressive accomplishment for the Astros. Although the stigma of their sign-stealing scandal still gives some MLB fans pause, the Astros have fully complied with regulations and won at least 95 games in every complete MLB season since 2017. That’s what makes the 2021 offseason especially challenging, as the Astros will be tasked with trying to retain some of their best players. Shortstop Carlos Correa has been already making headlines as the best shortstop to hit the market, making not-so-subtle hints at his interest in wearing pinstripes. Correa has clarified that he’s currently focused on winning the World Series, but once the offseason hits, the elite shortstop should be focused on ensuring he’s compensated...

A former Drug Enforcement Agency official faces up to 15 years in prison over the January 6 riot at the US Capitol, despite his insistence that he never entered the building.  Mark Ibrahim, an Army veteran who was fired from the DEA over his participation in the events of January 6, spoke out in Tuesday's episode of Fox News host Tucker Carlson's series on the fallout from the riot. Ibrahim made the explosive claim that he was invited to attend Donald Trump's 'Stop The Steal' rally by an FBI informant he knew from his military service, who subsequently urged him to join the mob breaking into the Capitol, which he refused.  Carlson claimed to have confirmed this by speaking to the alleged informant, whom he did not name. His controversial series 'Patriot Purge' on the streaming service Fox Nation has drawn strong reactions for depicting the law enforcement response to the riot as a political purge. Head coach Mel Tucker of the Michigan State Spartans. (Photo by Gregory Shamus/Getty Images) The conferences are starting to shape up officially as the College Football Playoff rankings come out for the first time. Which college football conference is looking the best going into the 10th week of the season? It was one heck of a weekend in college football. The top teams in the country took care of businesses, but there were still some major upsets. Three top-10 teams came out on the losing end on the road despite coming in as the favorite. The rankings are going to see major changes as nine ranked teams lost this week. Six of those teams lost to unranked teams. It was a great week for parity in college football, but it was a bad week for those looking for direction as the College Football Playoff Committee makes its first rankings public this week. The conferences all took huge losses. The SEC and Big Ten both lost top ten teams, but the Big Ten has Michigan State moving up to fifth in...

The Biden administration is seizing illegal drugs at the U.S. border, and GOP lawmakers think that's a bad thing. GOP lawmakers over the past few weeks have sent a spate of tweets hammering the Biden administration over government seizures of illegal drugs at the U.S. border, suggesting that it's a bad thing that Customs and Border Patrol is keeping the drugs out of the country. "Welcome 2 Pres Biden's America where 10,000 pounds of fentanyl hv been seized by Customs & Border patrol so far this fiscal yr which is enough to kill over 2 billion ppl or more than 1/4 of the world's population," Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) tweeted on Monday. Complaints that President Joe Biden was stopping drugs from coming into the country at the border popped up over the summer, when Republican Reps. Andy Biggs of Arizona, Ralph Norman of South Carolina, and Brian Babin of Texas were among those attacking the president and other Democratic leaders over the seizures. But in recent weeks the talking point has...
TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras (AP) — Honduras, one of the last countries in Central America to receive COVID-19 vaccine, has designated a portion of its stockpile for citizens of neighboring Nicaragua as fewer Hondurans line up to be vaccinated. Since Monday, Nicaraguans have been flocking to Nicaraguan border towns to be vaccinated with Pfizer and Moderna, rather than the Cuban and Russian vaccines on offer in their own country. The Honduran government set aside 100,000 doses for Nicaraguans and set up various vaccination sites for them along the border. In San Marcos de Colon alone, more than 4,000 doses were given from Monday to Wednesday. Vice Minister of Health Fredy Guillén said Wednesday that the inventory of vaccines Honduras has accumulated through donations and purchases “gives us the opportunity to make available around 500 vaccine (doses) daily for Nicaragua (and) other neighboring countries.” Honduras has received more than 5 million doses since October, he said, adding that 58% of eligible Hondurans had received a first dose and 40% were fully vaccinated. As fewer Hondurans seek out the vaccine there was a danger...
Sean Clifford #14 of the Penn State Nittany Lions. (Photo by Scott Taetsch/Getty Images) The SEC is back in the headlines for all the right reasons while the Big Ten’s flaws are starting to show. Can one team make a move with the College Football Playoff rankings around the corner? Penn State and Illinois made college football history with a nine overtime game on Saturday. On paper, it sounds like a historic matchup between one team desperate to keep its top-ten ranking and another looking for a marquee win under a legendary coach in his first year with the university. In reality, it was very boring and showed the flaws with the new overtime rules, where teams are trading two-point conversions. The Nittany Lions lost, and now they are tumbling down the Top 25 rankings. This really hurts the Big Ten’s place on the conference rankings. The Big Ten currently has zero teams in the top four after losses in back-to-back weeks by the Iowa Hawkeyes and Penn State. Now, their biggest hopes come down to Ohio State and *gulp*...

After a pursuit and one person being struck by car, two were arrested and taken to the Bulloch Co Jail on entering auto charges. On October 24th at around 02:30 in the morning the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office was notified that there were three suspicious persons on foot in the Iron Gate Subdivision. Multiple Deputies responded to the scene as there were several subdivisions in Bulloch County that had experienced a rash of vehicle break-ins. In addition to several Patrol Deputies an Investigator and K-9 Unit also headed to the scene. Upon arrival at Iron Gate a perimeter was set up covering all possible exit points. Shortly after Canine Gismo was deployed a possible suspect vehicle was observed leaving the area at a high rate of speed. Deputy Adam Paquette and Deputy Rhett Kelley pursued the vehicle. Police are searching for two alleged burglars who broke into a  Long Island smoke shop and got away with more than $2,500 in goods. The incident took place around 1:26 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 21, in Suffolk County when Riverhead Police received a report of a commercial burglary at the Bapa Vapor and Smoke Shop located at 763 Old Country Road in Riverhead.  The owner of the business received an alarm activation and upon viewing the surveillance system remotely, he observed people breaking the glass on the front door and entering the business, according to Detective Michael Schmidt, of the Riverhead Police. Responding patrol units arrived and found the front door glass had been broken and pushed in and that a variety of merchandise had been removed from behind the sales counter.  Riverhead detectives were notified and responded to the location.  A review of the surveillance system from within captured images of two Hispanic males in their late teens to early 20s entering the front of the store and removing vape and CBD products in excess of $2,500, Schmidt said. The men left prior to police arriving on the...
London (CNN)Lockdowns, spiraling cases and a vaccine divide is framing the start of Europe's second pandemic winter, bringing chaos to eastern European countries and uncertainty to those in the West. Despite the widescale availability of vaccines this winter compared to the last, Europe is the only part of the world reporting an increase in new Covid-19 cases globally, the World Health Organization (WHO) said Wednesday. This is the third consecutive week the region has recorded a rise in cases, it added. The suffering has been acute in Eastern Europe and Russia, battling mounting deaths and cases fueled by vaccine hesitancy that has seen coverage rates dip as low as 24%, according to data from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC). Last Thursday, Latvia became the first country in the European Union to impose a lockdown as the country struggles with a spike in cases amid low vaccination uptake. Only 56% of all adults have had both doses of the jab compared to the EU average of 74.6%. They have all the vaccines they need, but these...
Sports movies you can stream right now 30 Best Cities for Young Professionals NEWARK, NJ — Seattle will Krak open its new arena, Climate Pledge Arena, on Saturday night. It's expected to be a show-stopping opening — reminder: Jerry Bruckheimer is one of the owners — as the NHL officially hits the Pacific Northwest. But before things get Krak'ing (just a few more, promise), the Kraken kickstarted their inaugural season with a five-game road trip that saw a few things slip through the Kraks. While the team scored its first franchise goal — via Ryan Donato — and recorded its first franchise win — 4-3 over the Predators — the start of the season wasn't all it was Krak'ed up to be. With a 4-2 loss to the Devils on Tuesday, Seattle headed home 1-3-1. "We're getting to know each other and we've taken huge steps as we've gone through training camp [and] on this nine-day road trip. There's a lot of positives in here even though we walk away with a record that we're not happy with," noted coach Dave Hakstol after the game....
While it’s too early to write off any NFL team’s season — oh wait, we forgot about Detroit, Houston, Miami, Jacksonville and the rotten Big Apple — there is plenty of angst spread across the lower ends of the standings. As we dismiss those clubs mentioned above, we also present a look at the teams who have entered the danger zone far too early. Such projected contenders as the Colts, Browns, Vikings, Steelers, Seahawks and Patriots have almost wiggled out of whatever wiggle room they might have possessed. Who has it toughest is difficult to decipher. Maybe the Browns (4-3) and Steelers (3-3) in an AFC North where the resourceful Ravens (5-1) keep winning and the Bengals (4-2) are suddenly a factor. Maybe the Patriots (2-4), who have little chance of catching Buffalo (4-2), which they meet twice in December, and also have the Chargers (4-2) and Titans (4-2) to deal with. The Vikings (3-3) are in a similar situation as New England, needing a huge leap in class to compete with Green Bay (5-1), and with their next...
