Getty Ezekiel Elliott, Jerry Jones So much for that whole rest thing. Debunking recent media reports, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones proclaimed starting running back Ezekiel Elliott will handle a “serious load” in Thursday’s road contest against the New Orleans Saints. “The facts are we expect him to have a serious load against New Orleans,” were Jones’ exact words during a radio interview with 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday, November 30, via USA Today’s Jori Epstein. Jones’ declaration flew in the face of a November 26 report by ESPN’s Ed Werder, who wrote the Cowboys “will consider” sitting Elliott at New Orleans, allowing his balky knee time to heal following two straight early-week games. It also somewhat contradicted head coach Mike McCarthy, who himself hinted at an altered role for the $90 million centerpiece. “It’s that time of year,” McCarthy said November 26, via ESPN. “Zeke’s running style is ferocious. He gives a pounding, and he takes some hits. We need to evaluate that, and this week we’ll see what the preparation looks like for him.” His knee...
Cowboys’ star running back Ezekiel Elliot tells media he has been playing injured and hasn’t been given any time to heal up During media availability on Sunday afternoon, Ezekiel Elliott took a question about his lack of playing time and use in the Dallas Cowboys offense. Zeke’s response addressed that concern, but also shed some light on the running back’s health. Elliott told the media that during the Cowboys’ Week 4 matchup with the Carolina Panthers his knee was injured and he has been struggling ever since then. He says it supposedly gets stiff, but he is working to manage and push through the injury. Elliott would then go on to explain why he has not taken time off to deal with this injury. According to Zeke, none of the coaching staff or medical staff have approached him and suggested he take time off. Elliot expands further, saying he does not believe the possibility of him getting rest for his injury has even come up. Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott injured his knee vs. Panthers on Oct. 3. Getty Chase Elliott will need a contract extension in 2022. Hendrick Motorsports will enter the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season with all four drivers under contract. However, Chase Elliott’s deal only runs through the 2022 season, making an extension a priority for the championship-winning organization. Elliott is currently finishing out a four-year contract extension that he signed in June 2017. He finished the season fifth in points in the No. 24 Chevrolet and then switched to the No. 9 for 2018 and beyond. The three-time Most Popular Driver has been one of the most consistent drivers in the Cup Series and has continued to contend for a spot in the championship four. The driver of the No. 9 Chevrolet Camaro has spent his entire full-time Cup Series career with Hendrick Motorsports, dating back to the 2016 season when he won the pole for the Daytona 500. He has achieved a considerable amount in this span of time by delivering 117 top-10 finishes, 74 top-fives, and 13 wins. Elliott also finished the 2020 season as the champion. One interesting...
Ezekiel Elliott was clearly limited in the Cowboys’ Thanksgiving loss and now Dallas could turn to Tony Pollard in Week 13 and give the RB1 some rest. The Dallas Cowboys are certainly reeling after their Thanksgiving Day loss to the Raiders, making them losers in three of their last four games and looking quite out of sorts on a number of occasions. And running back Ezekiel Elliott’s injury situation hasn’t helped matters. Elliott has been playing through a knee injury and, though he’s been able to find the end zone a few times, the former Cowboys top-five pick has been limited in his usage and, at the same time, his overall effectiveness as well. But now, Dallas might be looking at the bigger picture. According to ESPN’s Ed Werder, the team is considering resting Elliott in Week 13 on Thursday against the Saints and giving backup Tony Pollard the start in what has become a crucial game for America’s Team. Just in terms of getting Zeke healthy, that would make a lot of sense. It also shouldn’t be overlooked, however,...
Getty The Cowboys may sit Ezekiel Elliott as he recovers from a knee injury. The Dallas Cowboys could change up their strategy after all when it comes to Ezekiel Elliott. According to ESPN’s Ed Werder, the Cowboys could give Elliott time off to heal up his lingering knee injury. That would including possibly sitting out the Pro Bowl running back for next week’s game versus the New Orleans Saints. “Source: Cowboys will consider providing running back Ezekiel Elliott time off to heal from the knee injury he’s been managing, including the possibility of holding him out of next Thursday night’s game in New Orleans, according to a source,” says Werder. “IR not believed a consideration.” Elliott has dealt with the knee injury throughout the 2021 season, but re-aggravated the injury last Sunday versus the Kansas City Chiefs. Despite the injury persisting — and only a four-year recovery period — Elliott played through the ailment in the Cowboys’ loss to the Las Vegas Raiders on Thanksgiving day. However, it was clear that Elliott wasn’t at full strength. Not only...
Getty Ezekiel Elliott is confused about his workload. Dallas Cowboys star running back Ezekiel Elliott appeared to be just as confused as fans were about his lack of touches on Thanksgiving. The Cowboys had nearly an even split in the backfield against the Raiders with Tony Pollard’s ten carries combined with Elliott’s nine rushes. Elliott was utilized a bit more in the passing game with six receptions compared to Pollard’s four catches. When Elliott was asked about his lack of touches, the Cowboys running back admitted he was unsure about why he was not on the field more against the Raiders. “Yeah, I don’t know,” Elliott responded during his postgame press conference. “Yeah, I don’t know. I feel alright, but it probably was [related to his injury].” Elliott was also asked about his limited snaps in the second quarter, and the running back offered no explanation. “Yeah, I don’t know,” Elliott noted. Getty The Cowboys may have to be cautious with Ezekiel Elliott's workload. The Dallas Cowboys will likely utilize a new strategy due to Ezekiel Elliott’s injury moving forward. As Elliott continues to deal with a nagging knee injury, the Cowboys’ plan to lessen his workload moving forward, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Not only that, but Elliott’s injury will linger all season long, says Rapoport. “This knee injury, bone bruise in his knee, is something that’s going to linger all season. Unless they step in and basically take Zeke off the field, it seems like it’s something that he’s going to play with. Just listening to Jerry Jones after the game. They’re going to alter the game plan a little bit because of Zeke’s injury. May have to get as, Jones mentioned, Tony Pollard 25 or so touches. May have to flip the roles a little bit just because Zeke is not himself. We’ll see if he can get out to a point where he is health enough where we don’t notice his knee. But until they...

Mandatory Credit: Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports The Dallas Cowboys clearly have something in running back Tony Pollard. Here are three hypothetical trade destinations for Ezekiel Elliott if they were to plan on moving him. The Dallas Cowboys participated in a thrilling Thanksgiving Day game against the Las Vegas Raiders. Even though they forced overtime, it was the Raiders who left AT&T Stadium with the 36-33 victory. If there was one thing to take away from the game, it is that the Cowboys truly have something special in running back Tony Pollard. Not only did he pick up 68 yards from scrimmage in the game, but he also returned a kick 100-yards for a touchdown. That leaves some questions as to what the Cowboys should do at the position. Could trading Ezekiel Elliott ahead of the 2022 season be an answer? If that is the case, here are three...
Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott was limited in the first half of the team’s Thanksgiving game against the Las Vegas Raiders. Entering their Thanksgiving Day game against the Las Vegas Raiders, the Dallas Cowboys offense was already without top wide receivers Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb. During the first half, it became apparent that Elliott was not on the field after the first couple of plays in the game. He did appear later in the second quarter to score a goal-line touchdown. That was his only play of the quarter. The reason for his limited play is due to Elliott dealing with a knee injury that he has downplayed. Ezekiel Elliott has downplayed the significance of a knee injury he’s been managing. He touched ball the first three plays. But has not been on the field in several series. — Ed Werder (@WerderEdESPN) November 25, 2021 What’s wrong with Ezekiel Elliott’s knee? Elliott has been dealing with a knee issue for much of the campaign. In last week’s matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs, Elliott left the game briefly,...
Getty The Cowboys may be forced to choose between Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard. Dallas Cowboys running back Tony Pollard has been a critical part of the team’s offense, especially as Ezekiel Elliott battles multiple injuries. The buzz around the NFL is that Pollard may eventually be on his way out of Dallas. Pollard’s name came up as ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler attempted to find out the league’s consensus on the best NFL duos at a number of positions, including running back. Here is Fowler briefly explaining the concept of the story. “We polled execs, scouts and coaches around the NFL to attempt to find consensus on the league’s best duos at six key positions: wide receiver, running back, offensive tackle, edge rusher, cornerback and safety,” Fowler noted. “While some results were clear-cut, other positions were incredibly difficult. Injuries leaguewide, of course, didn’t help. Key players in some pairings are out for the season and affected the duo dynamic.” Ultimately, the Browns received the most votes at running back for Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. The Cowboys...
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — A lawsuit filed by a teacher who was fired from his job at a Catholic high school in Indianapolis for being in a same-sex marriage can proceed, a state appeals court ruled. A panel of the Indiana Court of Appeals ruled unanimously Tuesday that a Marion County court erred in dismissing Joshua Payne-Elliott’s lawsuit against the Archdiocese of Indianapolis. The ruling reverses that decision and sends the case back to the lower court, The Indianapolis Star reported. Payne-Elliott had worked for 13 years as a world language and social studies teacher at Cathedral High School. He was fired in June 2019 after the archdiocese mandated that all Catholic schools under its purview enforce a morality clause barring employees from entering into same-sex marriages. Payne-Elliott married Layton Payne-Elliott, a teacher at Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School, in 2017. The couple has been at the center of a fight between their schools and the archdiocese, which directed the schools to fire both men. Brebeuf did not comply with the directive, to which the archdiocese responded by attempting to strip Brebeuf...
In fantasy football, the more things change, the more they stay the same, at least when it comes to finding the end zone. These are my best bets to score in Week 12. ___ Running Back JAMES ROBINSON, Jaguars The Jaguars aren’t scoring that many points, but when they do find the end zone, it’s usually Robinson who gets them there, as he’s scored in six of the nine games he’s appeared in this season. Highly TD dependent (38.30%), Robinson may not rack up the yardage, but he’s efficient and he could score when the Jags face the Falcons. They’ve allowed 11 TDs to RBs this season and the fourth-most points to them as well. EZEKIEL ELLIOTT, Cowboys Elliott came out of Week 11 a little banged up, but he put in a full practice on Tuesday and looks good to go for a Thanksgiving matchup with the Raiders. Only four teams have allowed more points to running backs than Las Vegas, a team that’s given up 73 points over the past two weeks. With a 34.26% TD...
Getty Eagles LB Davion Taylor (52) was placed on injured reserve and could be out for the rest of the year. Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Davion Taylor will be headed to injured reserve. The second-year player underwent knee surgery on Tuesday after re-aggravating the injury against the New Orleans Saints. Judging by his Instagram story, Taylor could be out for the rest of the season. Taylor posted a photo of himself in a hospital bed with the caption: “Successful surgery. Road to recovery starts now.” Alex Singleton will now join T.J. Edwards to form a new starting linebacker tandem in Philly for the foreseeable future. Taylor’s loss isn’t crippling, but very unfortunate considering how well he had been playing over the past four weeks. Head coach Nick Sirianni wouldn’t rule the third-rounder out for the year, adding there’s a chance he could return in 2021. Getty Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy Deeming his services no longer necessary, the Dallas Cowboys “terminated” kicker Lirim Hajrullahu from the practice squad, the team announced Tuesday. Hajrullahu was signed prior to the Cowboys’ Week 10 blowout of the Atlanta Falcons, filling in while starter Greg Zuerlein was mothballed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. The former Canadian Football League All-Star did not attempt a field goal but drilled all five extra-point tries amid the 43-3 victory. Hajrullahu also notched seven touchbacks on as many kickoffs, with a long boot of 65 yards. The 31-year-old reverted to the practice squad after the game, coinciding with Zuerlein’s return. Zuerlein suited up in Sunday’s loss at Kansas City, making three FGs — from 33, 30, and 48 yards. Three of his four kickoffs were returned, however. With no other kickers left on the active roster or practice team, Zuerlein is entrenched as Dallas’ primary specialist entering Thursday’s home contest against the Las Vegas Raiders. Getty RB Phillip Lindsay with Broncos Phillip Lindsay is departing the Houston Texans but might not escape the Lone Star State. With Ezekiel Elliott battling an ongoing knee ailment, Dallas Cowboys in-house reporter David Helman suggested the team submit a claim for the veteran running back, whom Houston placed on waivers Tuesday. “am I dumb if I’d consider a claim while Zeke works through is knee issue?” Helman posited via Twitter. Not at all, as it turns out many Cowboys fans like the idea of adding Lindsay to a backfield that features Elliott, Tony Pollard, and Corey Clement. “You are not dumb, this would be an excellent pick up. He is stronger and more durable than anyone else we have in the wings,” responded @MayhallTgordon. “100% good idea. Zeke is hurting, but pushing through. Give him 10 days off after Saints game, then another week as well. 17 days off and put him on path to good health for stretch run,” responded @pjayjohnson. “Lindsay > Clement so I’d consider that a win, even though I don’t think we’d...
Getty Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb Don’t count out CeeDee Lamb for Turkey Day just yet. During a November 22 radio interview, Dallas Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones took an optimistic tone on his star wide receiver, who suffered a concussion during Sunday’s loss at Kansas City. According to Jones, Lamb — about to enter the throes of NFL concussion protocol — is “doing really well” following the brain injury and will “have an opportunity” to play against the visiting Las Vegas Raiders on Thanksgiving. “He’ll start his protocol right away,” Jones said Monday on 105.3 The Fan, per the Cowboys’ official website. “He’s doing really well. So, he’ll have an opportunity to play. If he were having issues today, then you’d probably be a little leery, but the fact that so far he’s doing well. But he’ll have to go through testing. TAMPA, Fla (AP) — Steven Stamkos scored the lone shootout goal while Brian Elliott stopped three shootout shots to give the Tampa Bay Lightning a 5-4 win over the Minnesota Wild after blowing a late two-goal lead Sunday night. Minnesota rallied in the third period to tie it at 4 on two empty-net goals by Kevin Fiala and Joel Eriksson Ek over a 2:09 stretch. But the Wild couldn’t score in overtime during a power play that lasted about a minute and half. Tampa Bay also got two goals from Anthony Cirelli and one each from Pat Maroon and Alex Barré-Boulet. Elliott made 28 saves in regulation. Marcus Foligno and Brandon Duhaime had the other goals for Minnesota, and Kaapo Kahkonen stopped 20 shots. Cirelli put the Lightning up 3-2 when he scored on an in-close rebound with 2:53 left in the second. Barré-Boulet made it 4-2 from the low right circle after Stamkos’ shot went off Wild defenseman Jon Merrill at 9:19 of the third. Jordan Greenway had a short-handed backhander early in the third...
Getty Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb vs. Chiefs Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb will miss the remainder of Sunday’s game at Kansas City after sustaining a head injury — likely a concussion. Lamb was injured on Dallas’ final play of the first half, a jump-ball end-zone interception thrown by Dak Prescott, upon the back of his helmet smacking off the cold Arrowhead Field turf. He appeared shaken up while conferring with the training staff and did not return to the sideline for the third quarter. Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb banged head pretty hard here. Getty Dak Prescott saved Ezekiel Elliott a lot of money. Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott are the faces of the Dallas Cowboys franchise, but the two players had different paths to becoming stars. Elliott was the No. 4 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, but Prescott was taken much later as the Cowboys finally snagged him in the fourth round after missing out on other quarterback targets. Prescott revealed a funny story of how Elliott left a $5 million check in his truck, which was worth more than the quarterback’s entire rookie contract. “Yeah, maybe the first couple of days of rookie mini camp, and I think I had a car at the time, Zeke didn’t [and] he was riding with me” Prescott explained during his November 18 press conference. “I tell people all the time, he left one of his $5 million signing bonuses in my truck and I’m like, ‘This is more than I’ll make actually in the next four years, come get this bud.’ “So, I just think from there, just our...
Getty Cowboys QB Dak Prescott handing off to RB Ezekiel Elliott Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott was not happy with himself after committing his first fumble in nearly a full calendar year during Sunday’s demolishing of the Atlanta Falcons. “That’s something I’ve been doing well on this year,” Elliott said in the wake of the 43-3 victory, via the official team website. “Definitely gotta lock back in on my ball security. Their defense came out, they played good against the run. A lot of movement, they were pretty disruptive. We went out there and hit our plays.” Facing a 2nd-and-3 midway through the third quarter, Elliott took a carry roughly seven yards before coughing it up to Atlanta. That had not happened in 244 touches, spanning back to last Thanksgiving, per ESPN’s Todd Archer. Elliott — who worked to correct his hands over the offseason after losing a career-high five fumbles in 2020 — finished the game with a team-leading 14 rushes for 41 yards and two touchdowns, adding 15 receiving yards on three catches. Both of...
Getty Jerry Jones is pleased with Dak Prescott's contract extension. Jerry Jones was in a jovial and verbose mood following the Dallas Cowboys‘ Week 10 destruction of the Atlanta Falcons, a side of the eclectic owner the media had not seen since Halloween. “It’s the antithesis of what I felt this time last week,” Jones told reporters after the 43-3 victory, per NBC5’s Pat Doney. “I thought the team, in general, responded. They’re proud of their response, as they should be.” Seven days removed from an embarrassing home loss to Denver, the Cowboys looked night-and-day different in demolishing the Falcons at AT&T Stadium. Whereas nothing worked against the Broncos, everything worked versus the Dirty Birds. Dak Prescott and the offense amassed 431 total yards of offense, with Prescott accounting for three scores (two passing, one rushing). Ezekiel Elliott also hit pay dirt twice and the special teams contributed a TD as Dallas produced 29 second-quarter points, a new franchise record, and built a 36-3 halftime lead, its biggest in any game since 1971. “It was the most impressive...

Community leaders in Prince George’s County, Maryland, held a public forum to denounce attempts by Councilman Derrick Leon Davis’ to approve a controversial new district map, which critics claim would result in gerrymandering. Of the maps presented, one was created by the non-partisan redistricting commission, which made small changes to council district lines that reflect population changes recorded in the 2020 census. However, the other map was crafted by the county council itself and would drastically change voting choices for residents in the highly Democratic area. Richard Elliott with Prince George’s County Young Democrats described that map as anti-democratic. “This map was drawn in a manner that intentionally removes multiple candidates from their respective legislative districts, a clear anti-democratic measure,” said Elliott. Elliott also encouraged transparency and accountability in the redistricting process. Linda Thornton-Thomas, president of Prince George’s County NAACP, acknowledged that their organization is not political, but always advocates for quality, equity and fairness in the county. “Prince George’s County NAACP would like for the council to consider using the commission map — we paid for it, it’s based...
LORETTO, Pa. (AP) — Justin Sliwoski connected with Kahtero Summers for a 60-yard touchdown pass on the first play from scrimmage, Alex Schmoke added five field goals and Saint Francis (Pa.) defeated Merrimack 22-6 on Saturday. After the long touchdown to start things off, the Red Flash got all of their scoring from Schmoke. Four of his field goals came after Saint Francis was stopped in the red zone and his long kick of the day was a 39-yarder. Summers finished with five receptions for 107 yards and Marques DeShields had 97 yards rushing for Saint Francis (5-5, 4-2 Northeast Conference). A bank robber who disappeared after stealing $250,000 from an Ohio bank was identified last week as a man who lived in a suburb of Boston. Experts were able to identify Theodore Conrad, who worked at the Society National Bank in Cleveland in 1969, as the since-deceased Thomas Randele by comparing his signature from the 1960s to a bankruptcy case in 2014. John Elliott, a U.S. Marshal from Cleveland, was tasked with investigating Conrad's alleged robbery of his place of employment decades ago, and his son, Peter Elliott, took over the case after his death. "My father never stopped searching for Conrad and always wanted closure up until his death in 2020," Elliott said in a Friday news release from the U.S. Marshals Service. Getty Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott Stop me if you have heard this before: Ezekiel Elliott is overpaid. That dead horse continues being beaten to an unrecognizable pulp, and the latest lashing comes courtesy of Bleacher Report, which scrutinized Elliott’s contract — six years, $90 million — as the Dallas Cowboys‘ worst of the 2021 season. “For the most part, the Dallas Cowboys have invested wisely in quarterback Dak Prescott, left tackle Tyron Smith, guard Zack Martin and wide receiver Amari Cooper,” BR columnist Brent Sobleski wrote on Friday, November 12. “For a while, Jerry Jones threw money around left and right to keep the team’s core together. In doing so, the Cowboys owner made Elliott the game’s highest-paid running back.” Sobleski added, wondering aloud: “Elliott is good. LYNNFIELD (CBS) – A man wanted for one of the biggest bank robberies in the history of Cleveland, Ohio eluded authorities for 52 years by settling down in Massachusetts. The U.S. Marshals Service said Friday they have solved the mysterious disappearance of Ted Conrad. Conrad was a 20-year-old teller at a bank in Cleveland when he left work on July 11, 1969 with $215,000 and was never seen again. Investigators searched for him for years, chased leads across the county and even featured him on America’s Most Wanted and Unsolved Mysteries. The U.S. Marshals said the case stayed cold until this week when they came to Massachusetts and positively identified him as Thomas Randele of Lynnfield. Randele died of lung cancer in May. The Marshals said they were able to match documents that Conrad had filled out in the 1960’s with documents Randele had written, including when he filed for bankruptcy protection in Boston in 2014. “I’m still grieving the loss of my husband, who was a great man,” his wife Kathy Randele told Cleveland.com. Getty Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott was in and out of Sunday’s loss to the Denver Broncos after sustaining a right knee injury. Elliott finished the game, appearing more bothered by the humiliating home defeat than an ailment he attempted to explain away. “It’s something I’ve been dealing with the past couple weeks. Just a guy landed on it,” Elliott told reporters in his post-game press conference. Elliot — who finished the affair with 51 yards on 10 carries and 25 yards on three receptions — was banged down following a first-half tote and gingerly walked off to the sideline. Cameras caught him sitting on the bench with a wrap around his knee, which he acknowledged was a heating pad. “It helped just to keep it warm, and that’s just the biggest thing, keeping it warm.” Elliott alternated series with backup Tony Pollard as Dallas failed to establish its ground attack against the Broncos, logging just 78 rushing yards across 57 offensive plays. Much of the ineffectiveness was due to inordinate game flow...

First lady Jill Biden visits schools to encourage vaccination: Latest COVID-19 updates Man suspected in 6 killings, most targeting women, arrested in Missouri All season, Kyle Larson has been NASCAR's most dominant driver. He came into the NASCAR Cup Series Championship 4 with nine wins, five more than anyone else during the season. He added one more on Sunday. After trailing Martin Truex Jr. by nearly four seconds with 30 laps remaining at the Phoenix Raceway, a caution flag gave him a chance to restart. His pit crew, based in the first stall, turned in its second-fastest time of the season and put him out of pit road first. Despite a late push by Truex, Larson never relinquished the lead as he claimed his first NASCAR Cup Series title. "There were so many points of this race where I did not think that we were going to win, and without my pit crew on that last stop, we would not be standing right here," Larson told the NBC broadcast after the race. "So they’re the true winners in this...
AVONDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Chase Elliott stood on pit row next to his No. 9 car, a vacant look in his eyes as he gazed into the distance. Team owner Rick Hendrick squeezed his way through the crowd, put a hand on Elliott’s shoulder as he offered a few words of encouragement. Four-time champion Jeff Gordon, now vice chairman at Hendrick Motorsports, was next with a short conversation that spread a slight smile across Elliott’s face. The bid for a second straight championship came up just short. It still wasn’t a bad encore for the 25-year-old NASCAR star. Unable to track down Hendrick Motorsports teammate Kyle Larson, Elliott finished fourth in the NASCAR Cup Series championship by taking fifth in the finale at Phoenix Raceway on Sunday. “When you’re a good driver and a good person and you surround yourself with good people, success is warranted. It’s good to see that,” said Elliott, who finished behind Larson, Martin Truex Jr. and Denny Hamlin in the season championship. “But we’ll be back stronger next year and try to give them a...
