HOUSTON (AP) — Coming off an upset of Tennessee, the Houston Texans jumped out to a 14-3 lead over the New York Jets on Sunday and looked as though they were on the way to winning consecutive games for the first time this season. Instead, their offense stalled in the second half and the Jets rallied for a 21-14 win to hand Houston (2-9) its ninth loss in 10 games. The Texans trailed 3-0 after the Jets made a field goal after an interception by Tyrod Taylor. The veteran quarterback got on track after that, throwing touchdown passes on consecutive drives in the second quarter to put the Texans up 14-3. He connected with rookie Brevin Jordan on a 13-yard score first and later threw a perfect 40-yard strike to Brandin Cooks in the end zone to build the lead. But Taylor and Houston’s offense were unable to do anything after that and punted on their next four possessions before missing a field goal with about 10 minutes left. Despite this lackluster performance, the Texans were...
Things got chippy in the tunnel at halftime between Ohio State and Michigan football as players had to be separated in tight quarters. Ohio State and Michigan met on Saturday with a place in the College Football Playoff on the line. No wonder things got a bit intense. During halftime, the teams had to be separated in the tunnel as the two sides jawed back and forth. West Virginia coach Neal Brown’s offense needs a late energy boost. The Mountaineers started strong against three Power Five opponents this season only to fall flat, managing a field goal after halftime in each game. There’s plenty of things to sort out and Brown hopes to have them done by the time West Virginia (2-2, 0-1 Big 12) hosts Texas Tech (3-1, 0-1) on Saturday. The opportunities for scoring certainly could be there for the Mountaineers: Texas Tech lost at Texas 70-35 last week. “We have to get better. That’s the truth of it,” Brown said. “We’ve got to score more in the second half.” A last-second loss at No. 6 Oklahoma on Saturday dropped West Virginia to 0-9 against the Sooners in Big 12 play. It prompted a wave of second guessing on social media, reassurances from both current and past players, and even a lecture about fan behavior from West Virginia basketball coach Bob Huggins. Huggins wrote on Twitter after the 16-13 setback Saturday night that “win or lose we should have our guys back instead of crush...
K’Vaughan Pope is no longer a member of the Ohio State football team after last Saturday. In the aftermath of his highly publicized halftime outburst, former Ohio State football player K’Vaughan Pope has been dismissed from the team. While he will still be on scholarship for the rest of the semester, Pope’s time as a Buckeyes linebacker are over. Tweeting from the locker room at halftime while Ohio State was drubbing Akron was the straw that broke the camel’s back. He is the second former Ohio State linebacker to leave the program one way or another in the last week following Dallas Gant who entered the transfer portal. Pope tweeted an apology on Sunday, but him letting his emotions get the best of him has brought an end to his time with the Buckeyes. Last night I let my emotions get the best of me. For that I want to apologize to my teammates, coaches and Buckeye Nation. I made a mistake and know that I need to be better and do better. I’m going to take this time to reflect and...

Just call him a crowd-pleaser. Despite being on one of the hottest scoring streaks of his 12-year career, Steph Curry still has time to appease his supporters — even if that means taking mid-game celebration requests. Curry did just that in Golden State’s 119-101 road win over the Cavs on Thursday night. After draining a long range 3-pointer late in the fourth quarter — as part of his 33-point performance — the two-time MVP ran back on defense with his arms spread in an airplane celebration. Fans quickly caught on that the move was pre-meditated after seeing a tweet from a Bay Area reporter that Curry apparently checked at halftime. “Hi @StephenCurry30 if you see this at halftime, would you consider running back on the court with your arms out like a Stepherson Airplane?,” Kerith Burke, a Warriors beat reporter, tweeted. After the game, Doris Burke jokingly asked Curry why he specifically pulled out the airplane celebration in the fourth quarter. “You know exactly why,” Curry said, laughing. “Got good mojo going right now. The first half of Hawks-Thunder on Friday was one of the worst uniform matchups you’ll ever see: bright red (Hawks) on orange (Thunder). Not an exaggeration. It was this bad: And now we’ve gotten an explanation for why it happened. According to the Thunder, the Hawks wore the wrong jerseys. From Thunder: “The Hawks are wearing the incorrect uniform color for the game. The league process of inputting uniform colors should have caught the orange/red combo, but because the Hawks only have red uniforms on the trip the Thunder will switch to white at the half.” — Joe Mussatto (@joe_mussatto) February 27, 2021 The NBA reportedly requested a uniform change during the first half, but because the Hawks have just one set of uniforms for their six-day, four-game road trip, the Thunder had to change. The Fox Sports report above said the Thunder chose in advance to wear their Statement uniforms, but the NBA’s uniform matchup site, LockerVision, had the Thunder scheduled to wear their Association (white) uniforms and the Hawks their Icon uniforms (red) for this game. OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The Oklahoma City Thunder changed uniforms at halftime after a mix-up left the Thunder and the Atlanta Hawks wearing similar colors at the start. The Thunder began the game wearing their sunset orange uniforms while the Hawks wore their red uniforms. A Thunder spokesman said the Hawks wore the incorrect uniform color. He said the league process of inputting uniform colors should have caught the error, but because the Hawks have only red uniforms for their trip, the Thunder changed to white for the second half. Oklahoma City led 63-55 at the break. ___ Follow Cliff Brunt on Twitter: https://twitter.com/CliffBruntAP. ___ More AP NBA: https://apnews.com/NBA and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports. By Michael Hurley, CBS Boston BOSTON (CBS) — The Kansas City defense gave Tampa Bay multiple extra chances to tack on points before halftime of Super Bowl LV. And when you give Tom Brady an extra chance to hurt you, he’s going to take advantage every single time. And so, with just 10 seconds left in the half and no timeouts left, Brady took a snap from under center at the 1-yard line, waited for Antonio Brown to get himself open with some fancy footwork, and delivered a low dart to the receiver.
