Recent reports suggested that former Racing Point title sponsor BWT (Best Water Treatment) will continue to stay on the grid this year. Having been dropped by Racing Point when they converted to Aston Martin, BWT had been linked with Haas F1. However, newer reports have emerged that claim this to be untrue. German publication RTL said, “Will we see Mick Schumacher in his Formula 1 debut in 2021 in pink? The answer is no. the company BWT will not sponsor the US racing team Haas, for which Schumacher is contesting his first season in the premier class.” Fans will remember BWT for their infamous pink-colored cars, but the livery wasn’t exactly a fan favorite. A large majority will be relieved to see Haas won’t be sporting those colors for 2021. They’d much rather stick with their classic color scheme of black, white/gray with a hint of red. Derrick Rose on the New York Knicks, trying to help a surprisingly competitive young team get over the hump and take things to the next level. Seems like we’ve seen this before. The New York Knicks are one of the NBA’s pleasant surprises. After winning only 17 games two years ago, they’re a respectable 14-15. They don’t shoot well, but led by a star forward who tops the team in points, rebounds and assists, along with a man whose glory years were in the Windy City, the wind beneath their wings is a much-improved defense, particularly against 3-pointers. They’re on pace for the equivalent of a 14-win improvement from last year. Knicks fans can smile. They can breathe. The 2015-16 Knicks were one of the NBA’s pleasant surprises. The Oakland A’s will report to Mesa for spring training this week with a slightly different-looking roster, albeit with its main core still intact. All the offseason moves — and non-moves — raise a few questions about how this A’s team will function in the little and big picture. Here are five key questions for the A’s fans as the 2021 season approaches. Will the A’s trade Matt Chapman and/or Matt Olson? The warning signs are there. Financially, there’s little indication the team will be afforded the budget to accommodate their raises in arbitration. And the team might be entering a down phase of the contention cycle in which they’ll be looking to cut bait, break hearts, and replenish for a new run. National rankings have the Oakland A’s farm system ranked 29th of 30 — partly because most of the team’s best prospects have graduated...
NBA : The bad news has been fulfilled and the New York Knicks player, Mitchell Robinson, will undergo surgery to undergo an operation on his fractured right hand and will leave between 4 and 6 weeks, according to information from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski . Until that moment he was being the most outstanding of his with 10 points, 14 rebounds and 2 steals in 20 minutes on the parquet. Robinson was being one of the main defensive references of the team led by Tom Thibodeau, being currently the team that allows the fewest points per game (103.3), and the one that allows the rivals the worst percentage in field goals (43.1% ) and in triples (31.4%). The coronavirus and the British strain have taken part of the home court factor in three of the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 and two of the first leg of the Europa League round of 32. Scientists have kept their eyes glued to the star Betelgeuse since last year, after reports show the red supergiant was dimming – but a new study finds it still has more than 100,000 years until the event. An International team of scientists suggest the star is in the early core helium-burning phase, when a star burns helium in to carbon, which is one of the final steps before supernova. Researchers involved with the analysis, also found that smaller brightness variations of Betelgeuse have been powered by stellar pulsations, along with the star’s location being closer to Earth than previously thought. THERE is no lonelier place than a football pitch when you are on the receiving end of a proper thrashing. And while I’ve never suffered a 9-0 hiding, I was watching through my fingers as Southampton were stuffed at Manchester United - and felt their pain. 4Southampton were stunned by the 9-0 thrashing at the hands of Manchester UnitedCredit: AP:Associated Press I’ve had quite a few fives and sixes against Manchester City and Liverpool and the feeling of humiliation and self-doubt can feel crushing. There will have been senior players in that Saints team thinking to themselves ‘have I lost it?’ and ‘how can this be happening to me?’. And there will have been young kids thinking ‘Good God, this is the big boys league, will I ever really belong here?’. In my experience, players don’t chuck in the towel or hide. You probably run even harder, like a maniac,...
How will they “be back”? 4 ways the Buffalo Bills can avoid a hangover By: Geoff Magliocchetti January 28, 2021 ShareTweetFlipRedditEveryone assumes the Buffalo Bills will be back to the AFC title game, but we’ve heard that one way too many times in the past. Toward the end of many NFL playoff contests, a mantra of the damned has become as much of a prevalent broadcast tradition as reminding viewers that Bob’s Burgers or 60 Minutes will be coming up next (except on the west coast, in the latter case). When time is low and the game’s outcome is no longer in doubt, time is often dedicated to the team who will have to wait until September to restart their Super Bowl trek. As the camera lingers on images of the downtrodden runners-up between plays, the announcers will often repeat some variation of the...

For the 2021 NASCAR Cup and Xfinity Series, there are a few new faces gracing the grid. In the Cup Series, Chase Briscoe and Anthony Alfredo are making their full-time debuts. Briscoe is expected to race for the Stewart-Haas Racing team in the #14 car that used to be Clint Bowyer’s. Meanwhile, Alfredo is racing for Front Row Motorsports, alongside Michael McDowell. From an outside perspective, it is pretty much clear that Chase Briscoe is the favorite to win the 2021 Rookie of the Year. This is because Stewart-Haas Racing is a superior team compared to Front Row Motorsports. Meanwhile, in the Xfinity arena, there is only one rookie driver, namely Jade Buford. Buford is racing for the Big Machine Racing team, though he is only racing in one event. Admittedly, there are still a few seats to sort out in the Xfinity Series, but Buford remains the only rookie driver...
New York Yankees: Who will be the Yankees’ major competition in 2021? By: William Parlee January 23, 2021 ShareTweetFlipRedditAfter an uncommonly slow offseason, things are really heating up as the New York Yankees and the other 29 MLB teams approach spring training, which is now just over two weeks away. With the 2021 teams shaping up, it’s time to take a look at who will be the Yankees’ major competition to watch. The Boston Red Sox: The Boston Red Sox has always been the traditional rival of the New York Yankees, up to 2018. Since then, the tables have turned as other teams strengthened in the East. While the other teams got better, the Red Sox got worse. The Red Sox made some bad moves, and beyond their control, they were beset with major injuries, particularly to the pitching staff. Plain...
The first rival of Fernando Alonso in 2021, like that of every pilot, he will be his teammate. Although in Alpine they are aware that the Asturian will start at a disadvantage compared to the rest of the grid after having been two years away from Formula 1, said handicap could be accentuated with respect to Esteban Ocon, who has raced this season at Renault and who is more suited to the car and its team of engineers. That is why Sergey sirotkin, who has been the reserve driver for the French team in 2020, expects a close fight between the two at the beginning. “I think that, at least in the initial stage, the fight between Alonso and Ocon will be very close. In addition, Esteban helped himself a lot by winning the podium: in Abu Dhabi you could tell that he seemed to have lowered a load from...

A report in the Los Angeles Times declared that President-elect Joe Biden’s incoming administration is likely to lean on California’s policy ideas to guide its agenda. “California is emerging as the de facto policy think tank of the Biden-Harris administration and of a Congress soon to be under Democratic control,” reports the Los Angeles Times's Evan Halper. The paper lamented that the state had been “relentlessly targeted” by President Trump, who “worked overtime to bait, punish, and marginalize California and everything it represents.” But with the incoming Biden administration, California is set to take “center stage again in Washington’s policy arena,” the paper reports, in part thanks to former California senator and current Vice President-elect Kamala Harris having a say in the administration’s policymaking. “California has never had a Democrat on a national ticket, much less a ticket that won,” former Democratic Gov. The sinking of the ground's surface — or 'subsidence' — will threaten nearly a fifth of the world's population come the year 2040, a study has warned. An international team of researchers led from Spain have created a new model that estimates local subsidence risks across the globe. Subsidence is usually caused by the removal of local groundwater — and can be triggered by dry spells, the roots of trees and shrubs and human activities. Experts warn that increasing droughts in the future will see subsidence occur more often — and, as the global population grows, with greater impact on civilisation. Land subsidence typically hits hardest in regions with a high population density, greater demand for groundwater extraction and areas undergoing water stress. The team hope that their findings could aid in the development of policies to minimise the threat of subsidence, from local monitoring to countermeasures.  The sinking...
According to Coltech, this process involves two black holes orbiting each other. As they orbit each other, each blackout emits gravitational waves, and as they get closer to each other, stronger waves. If gravitational waves propagate somehow asymmetrically, the velocity also develops in a certain direction. If these waves travel at high speeds in one direction, the object must move in the other direction. In this case, the object in question is the (binary or combined) black hole, which is not found in the center of the galaxy. The scientist says complex calculations are needed to determine how fast the recession is. But the best estimates will raise the maximum value to over 5,000 kilometers per hour (1.7 percent of the speed of light). “This is enough to get the black hole out of the galaxy and lose it,” Goldteck said. “So the black hole begins to travel through intergalactic...

There may be some relief for the Yankees as Luis Severino is expected back before the All-Star break, returning from Tommy John surgery. Daniel Ricciardo drew heavy criticism when he jumped ship to Renault from Red Bull in 2019. Although the first season was nothing to write about, the Australian has come leaps and bounds to help Renault stay in the fight for P3. The drivers’ market in the summer saw some unexpected turns, with Ferrari electing to pick Carlos Sainz for the next year. This opened up a seat at McLaren, which Ricciardo embraced with open arms when he received the call. As the 2020 season draws closer, there is a growing realization now at Renault that the ever cheerful Daniel Ricciardo will leave the team in a few races’ time. The French team’s executive director Marcin Budkowski has spoken about what he will miss the most about the driver. Ricciardo’s “character” will be missed, says Budkowski Speaking in an interview, Budkowski stated, “He’s at the top of his form. “He’s driving...

DJ LeMahieu’s teammate is convinced he will return to the Yankees: ‘I know he wants to be in New York’ By: Andres Chavez November 17, 2020 ShareTweetFlipRedditOne of the most interesting storylines of the New York Yankees‘ offseason is whether they will be able to retain DJ LeMahieu’s services for 2021 and beyond. The experienced infielder was the team’s most valuable player both in the 2019 and the 2020 seasons, leading the club in fWAR both times and having some timely hits. Yes, the starting rotation and the bullpen need to be addressed, but the New York Yankees know that failing to retain LeMahieu would cause some problems, possibly forcing them to sign another infielder and move some pieces around the infield. LeMahieu, unsurprisingly, rejected the Yankees’ qualifying offer, which would have kept him in the team for one year and...

Installing a new coaching staff with fresh schematics was always going to be tumultuous, as the players didn’t have enough time due to COVID-19 to really learn the system and establish chemistry. The first four weeks of the 2020 campaign were essentially preseason games, and since then, the Giants have taken significant steps forward in their development, at least at several spots. The speculation has been sparked by a bombshell report earlier this week by Jane Slater, a locked-in Cowboys correspondent for NFL Network, citing the team’s players aren’t either happy with or buying into McCarthy’s coaching style.  #Cowboys players initially bought into keeping things internal. Now as they sit 2-4 the discontent is leaking out. On the coaching staff “totally unprepared. They don’t teach. They don’t have any sense of adjusting on the fly.” Another “they just aren’t good at their jobs” — Jane Slater (@SlaterNFL) October 20, 2020 Since Slater’s scoop, McCarthy has gone from having a built-in free pass to being firmly on the hot seat to be a one-and-done coach. Although Jones...
Will the New York Giants be buyers or sellers at the November 3 trade deadline? By: Alexander Wilson October 21, 2020 ShareTweetFlipRedditThe New York Giants are slowly heading toward the November 3 trade deadline, and the expectation is that they will be sellers. When evaluating the current roster, the strong points are far and few between. The defense has played above their weight class this season, ranking 16th in points allowed per game. However, in overall yards allowed per game, they rank 12th. Their most astute strength is their run defense, allowing only 106.5 yards per game, which is good enough for 8th in the NFL. This suggests two things, the value they have as sellers is on defense, but getting rid of some offensive weapons for draft capital is also a decent idea. Considering the Giants are averaging a measly...

The Houston Rockets are ready to surprise people next season. That is, according to Western Conference rival, Draymond Green. Green will be on one of the top contenders next season. His Golden State Warriors are primed for a comeback after their league-worst record this season. With Steph Curry and Klay Thompson returning to full health, we may see the second installment of this dynasty. However, Draymond is also often commentating on basketball with TNT. In a discussion with Charles Barkley and Ernie Johnson, Draymond revealed that the Houston Rockets are the sleeper team in the Western Conference in his opinion. “The team I think people are going to be sleeping on coming out of the West is Houston. They got Russ, they got James and obviously, both can go for 40 or 50 on any given night. “They got a bunch of shooters and they are going to...
Almost all cars on the road will have to be electric by 2050 if the world is going to meet UN climate change targets, experts claim. Engineers from the University of Toronto created a computer model to estimate how many electric vehicles would be required in a heavily car dependent country. The team focused on the US, as currently only 0.3 per cent of vehicles are electric and it is a wealthy nation with a high overall rate of car ownership per capita.  To meet UN climate targets, about 90 per cent of passenger vehicles in the US would need to be electric by 2050 - something the Canadian team say is 'unrealistic'. Instead, the team suggests countries focus on a massive investment in public transport and redesigning cities to allow for more trips by bicycle or foot.   UN climate targets require member countries to take action to prevent average...
The A’s checked a big “to-do” off their list: win the American League West. They’ll have three games to check another off: Win a postseason series. There are still a few things to smooth out before Game 1 of the best-of-three wild card series in Oakland. First, we don’t have a clear idea who they will play yet. But here are some questions you had regarding the season we’ve been watching and what’s ahead. @Jake_Cucarola on Twitter: Will the As platoon once in the postseason? Or will players like Murphy get to play every day? I’d bet lineups will be tailored a little more carefully to match ups if the opposing pitcher/team mandates. Though, it’s hard to say now that Jake Lamb is a platoon candidate at third. With the A’s, the left-handed batter is hitting .375 with a 1.319 OPS against left handers and .333 with...

Kyle Lowry and Kemba Walker have given us a playoff treat. The NBA Playoffs Eastern Conference semi-finals have seen a hellacious matchup between the Boston Celtics and the Toronto Raptors. The Celtics ran off to an early 2-0 lead in the series. However, the Raptors have fought back and made this a 3-3 series. Now it is for anyone to win in a final game seven, as the winner goes on to face Miami Heat in the Conference Finals. This game seven may just come down to the performances of the two ball-handlers on each team. Boston Celtics Kemba Walker may be deferring to Jayson Tatum or Jaylen Brown, but he is still the on-court leader of this young Celtics team. Toronto Raptors Kyle Lowry has years of playoff experience and a championship to his name. However, he is relied on quite heavily by this free-sharing Raptors team. Walker is...
The NBA will be resuming playoff action this weekend with a revised schedule following this week’s strike.  Basketball is resuming, even if the problems that caused it to halt remain unsolved. Every single NBA team left in the Orlando bubble went on strike this week to protest police violence that continues to fracture communities across the country. The idea of striking was considered back in June when Kyrie Irving suggested that returning to basketball and distracting from the George Floyd protests didn’t seem particularly helpful. While Irving was largely dismissed, including being called ‘disruptive’ by Adrian Wojnarowski in a piece that ran on ESPN, players arrived at where he was back in June earlier this week. Following the shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, and hours after an armed vigilante used an automatic weapon to murder two protestors, the Milwaukee Bucks decided to sit out Game 5 of their first-round...
TikTok will be sold to a US company in the next 48 hours, sources close to negotiations say  TikTok will be sold within 'coming days' to either Microsoft and Walmart or Oracle, in a $20-30billion deal that comes three months before Trump's deadline for the Chinese-owned video app to be sold to a US entity.  Both Microsoft and Oracle expressed interest in the app after Trump ordered ByteDance, the Chinese tech company that owns it, to sell it to a US entity or risk losing all its American customers.  He said it was a national security risk because it had access to more than 100million Americans' data.  On Thursday it emerged that Microsoft and Walmart were teaming up in their bid. It came after fears among US investors in ByteDance questioned whether they'd have a place in a Microsoft sale.  The Wrap cited sources who said Oracle was the...

Washington Wizards center Davis Bertans — who has emerged as one of the NBA’s best floor-spacing big men in recent years — will be a top priority for the team when he becomes an unrestricted free agent once the 2019-20 campaign concludes, according to the organization’s general manager. As relayed by The Athletic‘s Fred Katz via Twitter, Wizards GM Tommy Sheppard spoke about his desire to retain Bertans during his year-end press conference on Wednesday. “He’s been a priority. I told him that. And really, nothing has changed there,” he told members of the media. Although Washington failed to qualify for postseason play for a second straight year this past season, the 27-year-old Bertans enjoyed his best year since making the move from Liga ACB and EuroLeague competition to the NBA back in 2016. MLB: Will the New York Yankees or other MLB teams be active in this trade season? By: William Parlee August 14, 2020 PrevPreviousNew York Yankees: Chad Green has been underappreciated so far this season ShareTweet0 SharesThe answer for the most part is no.  The New York Yankees have a powerful lineup and at the moment sufficient pitching to get to the postseason.  There are several reasons we won’t see much action in the next two weeks in MLB and here are a few: 16 teams able to reach the postseason, will make them less likely to move talented players. In this short season devoid of revenues, teams will not want to spend large amounts of money to acquire players. The opt-out situation.  With only 27 days left of the season at the deadline, would a team want to trade...
(CBS4)- The 2020 NFL season will be unlike any that we’ve ever seen before. The COVID-19 pandemic has forced most teams, Broncos included, to reconsider whether fans should be allowed to attend. It has also led to opt outs among players who are concerned for the health and safety of themselves and their families. While the Broncos were among the teams with the fewest players to opt out, one of those was a key piece the team was depending on this season: presumed starting right tackle Ja’Wuan James. While James missed much of last season due to injury after signing with the team in free agency, he was healthy and set to slot in to the starting right tackle spot as expected. Now that he’s opted out, the plans shift and the offensive line in front of young quarterback Drew Lock is more unsettled. “They have been able to play...
The NBA bubble is getting an Instaban. Ahead of the arrival of league-sanctioned guests, the NBA will begin requiring players to prove “long-standing relationships” with non-family members, according to a memo obtained by ESPN. The league and players agreed to keep causal acquaintances — “known by the player only through social media or an intermediary” — from joining the Disney-based bubble, meaning that any sliding in the DMs stops there. Casual acquaintances “could create problems within your team – and maybe someone else’s too,” one GM told ESPN. Instagram model Anna Mya alleged she got an invite to Orlando in early July, though it appears she won’t make the cut now. Also not allowed in the bubble, according to the memo: trainers, physical or massage therapists, personal chefs, hair/apparel stylists, tattoo artists, and current/prospective business partners, and certified agents (other than family members), among others. Players’ guests can arrive on...

Ed McCaffrey (credit: CBS) “Just when we were feeling some buzz, feeling the team coming together, feeling some comradery, everyone buying in to what we were doing, we were told that we had to go home,” recalled McCaffrey. “There was huge disappointment, but we figured we’d be back eventually. The Washington Redskins will be called the Washington Football Team for the 2020 season and will decide on a permanent name-change later, after ditching their old in name in row over racism.  In an announcement on Thursday, the team said: 'We're retiring our old name - and building a new kind of team. For the upcoming season, we're calling ourselves The Washington Football Team.'  The new logo is the word Washington with the 'Football Team, EST 1932' beneath it. It replaces the old logo, which was of an Native American chief.  Sponsors started calling for a name change earlier this year as the Black Lives Matter movement swept America, wiping out anything that was deemed historically racist.  The Redskins name, critics argued, was steeped in racism against Native Americans, and was no longer tolerable in the 2020 climate of equality.  The team vowed to change and took suggestions such as the...

"The Kraken is a name born of the fans. It was suggested and championed by the fans," Seattle CEO Tod Leiweke said. FG Trade "We're all in this together." This message of solidarity rang throughout the world over the past few months, as communities from Wuhan, China, to Washington, D.C., mobilized to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. Heeding shelter-in-place orders, businesses and workers quickly transitioned to remote work in order to help slow the spread of the novel coronavirus and free up resources for essential workers who remained on the front lines. This unprecedented effort paid off, and after months of lockdown, communities and companies worldwide are beginning to reopen. As business leaders turn their attention toward an eventual return to the office, however, a critical new need has arisen: the need to ensure an equitable return for all employees. What is an equitable return? To understand the concept, first we must understand the difference between equity and equality. Equality is an ideal that means treating people equally regardless of their gender, race...

Joe Jimenez, Detroit Tigers (Photo by Joseph Garnett Jr. /Getty Images) Detroit Tigers closer Joe Jimenez will have to be effective if the team is to have any chance of success in a short 2020 season. Before the 2020 MLB season was put on hold, we knew that the Detroit Tigers likely weren’t going to be contenders. This remains true even as we proceed towards a shortened 60-game season. Still, the team would like to make some progress in their rebuild, and getting a good effort from closer Joe Jimenez would go a long way towards making that happen. The right-handed pitcher is only 25 years old and still has time to return to the form that earned him an All-Star appearance in 2018. That year, he posted a 1.98 ERA out of the bullpen through June 23; after that, however, his ERA was 7.52. Last year, he posted a...
CHICAGO (CBS) — The White Sox will be back on the field at Guaranteed Rate Field next Friday for their first workout. The Cubs are expected to start the same day at Wrigley Field. Then, in less three weeks, the strange 60-game season begins. But if you’re the last team standing, you still get that World Series trophy. Whatever happens, White Sox officials say the shortened season will be critical for the team going forward in the long term. “I’ll let history decide what it means, what it doesn’t mean. All I’ll know is that if we’re able to accomplish that – and from your mouth to God’s ears to our club – if we’re able to accomplish that, that would be great,” said White Sox Manager Rick Renteria. “The short answer to your question – is it a legitimate season? Absolutely,” said White Sox General Manager Rick Hahn. “But...

DeAndre Baker’s representation remains steadfast and confident the Giants cornerback will be cleared of any wrongdoing and the serious criminal charges against him will be dismissed. “We have at least two witnesses that will testify as to Baker’s innocence,’’ Patrick Patel reiterated to The Post on Tuesday. Baker’s attorneys, New Jersey-based Patel and Florida-based Bradford Cohen, say they have sworn affidavits from two witnesses in attendance at the May 13 house party in Miramar, Fla. stating Baker never robbed or pointed a gun at anyone. He could be facing a mandatory minimum of 15 years in prison for each of the four armed robbery charges. The arrest warrant stated Baker and Seahawks cornerback Quinton Dunbar stole more than $12,000 in cash and expensive watches and that Baker pointed a gun at a...

Gersson Rosas feels as though the Timberwolves have made “significant progress” in reshaping the organization, specifically the roster. With the likes of Karl-Anthony Towns, D’Angelo Russell and Malik Beasley, Minnesota has a young, promising trio of high-end talent. Mix in players such as Josh Okogie, Jarrett Culver and Juancho Hernangomez, and Minnesota might have something here. “Might” being the operative word. “I love our group, I like the potential that they have,” said Rosas, the Timberwolves president of basketball operations. “But to be fair, it’s potential right now, and they’re young players and it’s a young team.” Not even necessarily a good team. The franchise has talked about the “momentum” it was generating after the 2019-20 all-star break, but Minnesota won just three of its final 13 games. To be fair, Towns missed 12 of those; you have to think the all-star center would have...
After the NFL granted coaches permission to return to team facilities last week, the Vikings announced Monday that TCO Performance Center has been reopened to approximately 60 front office employees. It’s unclear when coach Mike Zimmer and the rest of his coaching staff will return. Currently, players and coaches continue to work remotely, according to a team release. While the NFL has granted coaches permission to return to team facilities, there’s been no guidance as far as when players can come back. Those returning are doing so on a voluntary basis, with multiple departments within the organization prioritized because of their need to access the facility in order to effectively complete their job duties. All returning employees have completed a training course and health survey. Upon arrival at the facility, each employee will undergo a screening protocol that includes a temperature check and will wear masks when...
Chicago Bears coach Matt Nagy appeared to support some kind of player demonstration amid mass protests against police brutality and racism taking place across the U.S. Nagy addressed the possibility of more players kneeling during the national anthem again in a video conference call with reporters Wednesday, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. MALCOLM JENKINS RESPONDS TO DREW BREES: 'YOU'RE A PART OF THE PROBLEM' “I know that’s a big discussion,” Nagy said. “Whatever we end up doing together, it would be that [together]. What the players want to do, we’ll do. We’re gonna listen. We’ll talk through it. Then whatever we all decide to do, or they decide to do, we’ll do that. I know that we’ll do it together.” The idea of kneeling during the national anthem sparked up again as players recall Colin Kaepernick’s actions during the 2016 season amid the recent wave of protests. RAMS' SEAN MCVAY SAYS HE WOULD...
