An Australian beauty guru has been left fuming after a lawyer gave her the wrong advice which has left her stuck in the US while her partner and son's travel exemptions are sorted.   Chloe Morello, who is from the NSW South Coast, revealed her plight via Instagram, claiming she missed out on celebrating her birthday back home with family. The beauty vlogger had been living in the US prior to Covid-19 with her Canadian husband Sebastian and their six-month-old son Santino. Beauty guru Chloe Morello (pictured) took to Instagram to vent her frustration after dodgy legal advice from a immigration lawyer left her stuck in the US for longer than she'd hoped  After two and a half years abroad, Ms Morello meticulously planned her return to Australia, ensuring she was ready when international borders reopened. 'Australia is open for citizens, residents and their families. If you are not an Australian citizen or resident you have to apply for an exemption,' she explained on her Instagram story. 'Sebastian is a Canadian citizen and Santino is an American citizen, so they both need...

It’s curious how certain phrases catch on. When I took on Joe Biden and Barack Obama in 2008, they used “Hope and Change.” Now, Biden is the inspiration for “Let’s Go, Brandon.” My slogan was “Drill, baby, drill.” It was true and necessary in 2008, and it’s needed now more than ever. During my vice presidential debate against Biden, at the time a four-decades long senator, the price of gas was $3.65 a gallon and a barrel of oil was $97 dollars. Biden had no solutions to the problem of high gas prices, and 13 years later, he remains as clueless. Biden only reluctantly acknowledges that we have supply shortages. His baffling solution is to import oil from foreign countries. His response to high energy prices is to run and beg OPEC, the international cartel, for more oil. "Fox News Primetime" host Pete Hegseth accuses "failing" Democrats of attempting to capitalize on COVID by creating a panic and exploiting the pandemic. PETE HEGSETH: Omicron hasn’t even arrived yet, and Democrats are already tightening their grip on executive power. First comes the state of emergency, then what comes next? Are more lockdowns next? How about mask mandates or new vaccine requirements for everybody?  We told you last night the Democrats were using their 2019 COVID playbook to create a new panic here in 2021. And with the 2022 midterm elections right around the corner, why wouldn’t Democrats just dust off their trusty 2020 election guide.  How long until we see the increased push for even more mail-in voting? Universal mail-in voting. No voter identification needed or even allowed. Nancy Pelosi named her top priority H.R.1 [For the People Act of 2021], a voting bill, for a reason. That went so well last time, didn’t it? For them.      In support of the global #GivingTuesday movement, Food Lion is donating 1 million meals* to its longstanding hunger-relief partner Feeding America® and the 33 local Feeding America member food banks across its service area. The donation through Food Lion Feeds, the omnichannel retailer’s hunger relief initiative, will support efforts to combat child hunger in the towns and cities Food Lion serves. Created in 2012, #GivingTuesday is observed the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to encourage generosity, giving and good deeds. “On behalf of our 82,000 associates, we’re proud to add our name and resources to the #GivingTuesday movement and help nourish more of our neighbors and set them up for success,” said Food Lion President Meg Ham. “Supporting the towns and cities we serve is what we do, and we know more of our neighbors have become food insecure due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. We want our community partners and neighbors to know they can always count on Food Lion when they need us.” Hunger as a result of the COVID-19...
ABC's "Good Morning America" has yet to report on the Jussie Smollett trial which started on Monday. The trial against the former "Empire" actor began in Chicago as Smollett was brought in for jury selection. Smollett has been accused of lying to the police regarding an alleged racist and homophobic assault against him in January 2019. The crime carries a sentence of up to three years in prison. Smollett pleaded not guilty to the crime and insisted that he was the victim of an assault by violent Donald Trump supporters. However, investigators later uncovered that Nigerian siblings Abimbola and Olabinjo Osundairo, who worked with Smollett on "Empire," were the perpetrators. The Osundairo brothers claim that Smollett paid them $3,500 to stage the attack. Photo by Slaven Vlasic/Getty Images for Global Lyme Alliance Dr. Mehmet Oz announced on Tuesday that he’s running to be the next U.S. senator from Pennsylvania. Oz will seek the 2022 Republican nomination to replace Sen. Pat Toomey (R) who is retiring at the end of his term. As a political newbie, the celebrity doctor will face all kinds of questions about various policy positions he holds, but before that happens, he may have to answer a much more basic question from Pennsylvania voters: “Do you actually live here?” The answer appears to be “no.” For the last two decades, Oz has lived in Cliffside Park, New Jersey. Only last year did he actually register to vote in Pennsylvania, and he used his in-laws’ address in suburban Philadelphia to do so. Oz declared his candidacy, not in a Pennsylvania publication, but instead in an op-ed in the Washington Examiner. At certain points, he hit vague notes that will likely resonate with Covid-19 vaccine skeptics. “Over 750,000 in the United States have died from the virus, a devastating toll for families...

MIKE ROWE AND JOHN RICH TEAM UP WITH THE OAK RIDGE BOYS FOR CHRISTMAS SONG ‘SANTA’S GOTTA DIRTY JOB' The pair appeared on "Fox & Friends" Tuesday to debut "Santa's Gotta Dirty Job," which funnels proceeds to Folds of Honor, an organization that provides scholarships to military families, and the mikeroweWORKS Foundation, which promotes trades and apprenticeships. "It is a very catchy song, and we want to try to raise as much money for both of your charities as possible," said co-host Steve Doocy. "John's charity is doing amazing work with families of vets who didn't make it back," Rowe stated. "We're doing what we can at mikeroweWORKS, but putting this song out here on this show like this, I know I speak for John, we're both super grateful. Thank you." NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom, an outspoken critic of Turkey's authoritarian regime and human rights advocate, spoke to "America’s Newsroom" Tuesday about changing his legal name to include ‘Freedom’ in celebration of his new American citizenship. "It was probably the greatest moment of my life," the Boston Celtics player told co-hosts Bill Hemmer and Dana Perino. In 2017, Kanter Freedom, an immigrant from Turkey, had his passport seized during a layover in Romania after the Turkish embassy canceled his passport. I know that I’m an old scribbler, past my prime. I began my now-48-years as a professional journalist in 1973, when the main thing was to get your facts right, then to present them in descending order of importance, and to talk to both sides of a matter in dispute (which, in terms of political stories, often meant someone from both major political parties). If you did that right, you could turn in your copy and walk away, trusting the readers to decide for themselves who or what to believe about the items in dispute. At least that’s what we (sort of) practiced and preached. Those days are over. Nowadays, I fear, we start off assuming that one side (the one we favor) is telling at least a reasonable approximation of the truth and the other side is pretty much lying. I don’t mean to over-romanticize the glorious past. But it seems that now we, more than previously, are locked in partisan bubbles where all the truth is on one side and all the lies on the other side (which...
Enes Kanter is getting the least playing time of his NBA career, but he’s making more headlines than ever, lauding America’s freedoms while blasting other nations for their human rights violations. After being sworn in as a U.S. citizen Monday and legally changing his name to Enes Kanter Freedom, the Swiss-born Turkish American joined Tucker Carlson on Fox News. “People should feel really blessed to be in America. They love to criticize it but when you live in a country like Turkey or China, you appreciate the freedoms you have here,” Kanter said. “I feel like they should just keep their mouth shut and stop criticizing the greatest nation in the world and they should focus on their freedoms and their human rights and democracy.” In recent months, Kanter has publicly challenged dictatorships and communist regimes while criticizing LeBron James and other celebrities for selectively choosing when they’re comfortable speaking about social injustices. James and other NBA stars cite America’s injustices, but they continue to profit off partnerships with China, a country with deplorable human rights issues. For Kanter, speaking...
Caracas, Venezuela (CNN)Tens of millions are going hungry in Latin America and the Caribbean as the Covid-19 pandemic sharpens a regional malnutrition crisis to its worst levels in decades, according to the United Nations. In just one year -- from 2019 to 2020 -- the number of people living with hunger in the region rose by 30%, or 13.8 million people, a new United Nations Regional Overview of Food Security and Nutrition report said. While the coronavirus poses its own health threat, the pandemic's economic fallout has also meant empty cupboards. Months of lockdowns and travel restrictions hit informal jobs in particular, in a region where missing work one day can mean having little to eat the next.Women are going hungrier than men across the region, the UN found, as food insecurity disproportionately affects the most vulnerable people in society. In 2020, approximately 42% of women experienced moderate or severe food insecurity, compared with 32% of men. That disparity has consistently widened in recent years, the report said, with a spike from 6.4% to 9.6% in the first year of the...

Senator Ted Cruz has branded Dr Anthony Fauci 'the most dangerous bureaucrat in American history' and suggested the COVID tsar could end up in prison.  Speaking on Fox News Monday night, the Texas lawmaker issued his latest salvo against Fauci after the White House's chief medical adviser lashed him Sunday. Cruz told Sean Hannity: 'I've got to say, Dr. Fauci, I think, is the most dangerous bureaucrat in the history of the country. He talked about hurting science but I don't think anyone has hurt science or hurt the credibility of doctors more than Dr. Fauci because throughout this pandemic, he has been dishonest, he's been political, he's been partisan.' Fauci has been accused of being ego-crazed because of the amount of TV interviews he undertakes, with his most recent CBS News appearance Sunday also seeing him blast Cruz and suggest the lawmaker was linked to the January 6 riots. LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) – North America has now joined the list of continents with reported cases of the newest COVID-19 variant – Omicron. Two cases were reported in Canada on Monday, bringing the worldwide total of countries with a documented instance to over 14. Other countries include: Australia, Belgium, Botswana, Denmark, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy, Netherlands, South Africa, the United Kingdom and more. On Friday, the Netherlands held two planes that had arrived from South Africa on a tarmac at one of their airports in order to test all passengers onboard. The tests revealed 61 positive COVID-19 cases – 13 of which were of the Omicron variant. As of now, the Delta variant is still the dominant strain present in America, but experts predict that Omicron could soon take charge in the coming weeks. In response, the United States has announced a travel ban to and from eight African countries, including: Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho,...
HBO Max censored the R-rated box office flop Birds of Prey, which serves as a reminder as to why you should buy hard copies of movies you love. HBO says the censorship was accidental, that the version posted on its streaming site is the PG version with the cuts necessary to play on commercial television. And that’s probably true. HBO has all kinds of sex and violence on its streaming service. So why would it edit the comparably tame violence and language in something as dumb as Birds of Prey? Margot Robbie in Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (Warner Bros. 2020) But this does serve as another reminder of the power these massive corporations hold with these centralized streaming services — which is the power to disappear these titles altogether or censor them. Already we’ve seen Disney disappear Song of the South (1946), a title that offends the Woke Gestapo but also includes a performance from James Baskett, a black actor who so moved audiences at the time he was given an honorary Academy...
CNN Newsroom at 2 p.m. topped its Fox News time-slot competition in the key 25-54 age demographic on Wednesday, ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Minutes before 2 p.m. on Wednesday, three men were found guilty of murder for the killing of Ahmaud Arbery. Newsroom’s drew a whopping 401,000 demo viewers in the hour, beating out the 363,000 that Fox News’ America Reports saw, marking a rare moment in the cable news ratings of late: A Fox News program not winning its time-slot. While a few CNN weekend shows — notably Jim Acosta’s program — have bested Fox in the demo in certain hours, it has been a long time since a CNN show has won during the week. MSNBC’s Katy Tur lagged far behind the competition with only 154,000 demo viewers. Fox News still won out in total viewers for the 2 p.m. hour, beating both CNN and MSNBC. The only other close competition to Fox News in the charts was MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace at 4 p.m., who notched an average of 1.46 million total viewers. Wallace’s viewership total,...
New York City mayor-elect will travel to Ghana despite growing concerns over the rapid spread of the Omicron COVID-19 variant worldwide.  Adams said on Monday that he will make the trip to fulfill a promise he made to himself following the 400-year-anniversary of slavery in America - which occurred in 2019. 'I made a promise to myself that I would visit Ghana following the 400 year anniversary of slavery in America and the election, to show how far we have come and remember how far we still must go,' Adams told the New York Post on Monday. He said that he will 'follow the science and public health professionals' and that travel to Ghana, in West Africa, has not been banned. "Not many people are talking about Michael Jordan," Kanter complained at the time. "Michael Jordan hasn't done anything, nothing, for the black community in America besides just, you know, giving them money. I feel like we need to call out these athletes. At least LeBron James is going out there and being the voice of all those people who are oppressed in America." In October, Kanter pointed the finger at CEO Phil Knight for not being more vocal against the Chinese government's atrocities. "Dear Nike, your company says that you're making a positive impact in our communities," Kanter said in fiery remarks. "And that is true. Yes, you are. Here, in the United States, Nike stands with Black Lives Matter, Nike stands with Stop Asian Hate, Nike stands with the Latino community, and Nike stands with the LGBTQ community. And Nike remains vocal about injustice here in America." "But when it comes to China, Nike remains silent," he continued. "You do not address police brutality in China, you do not speak about discrimination against the LGBTQ community, you do not...
On today’s Breitbart News Daily Podcast, host Alex Marlow notes that last week marked the 400th anniversary of Thanksgiving, but you might not have been aware of this if you don’t read Breitbart News. President Joe Biden spent his holiday partying in Nantucket at a billionaire’s mansion with four types of dessert on the menu. He also bucked the town’s mask mandate (does he know something we don’t?!) while the world panicked about the new “Omicron” Covid variant. How bad is it? We don’t know yet, but we do know that you’re a racist if you want to ban any travel. Dr. Anthony Fauci – with extreme hubris – declared that he speaks for all of science and attacked Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) over… wait for it… January 6th! Then, the Friendly Fascist (aka NIH Director Francis Collins) returned to cable news, and as usual, he lied to your face. Smash-and-grab looting is spreading in lawless Democrat-run cities, and there appears to be no end in sight. Finally, our guest today, Dan Gainor of the Media Research Center, joins Alex for...

A majority of Americans say President Joe Biden is to blame for how divided America has become, according to a Monday poll from the Trafalgar Group and Convention of States. A total of 54.2% of those polled said Biden holds responsibility for the current divisions in U.S. politics, with 39.4% saying he was “very responsible” and 14.8% saying he was “somewhat responsible,” according to the poll provided exclusively to the Daily Caller. Nearly 46% of respondents said Biden has little to do with the divisions, with 12.6% saying he was “not very responsible” and 33.2% saying he was “not responsible at all.” The poll surveyed 1,092 likely general election voters between Nov. 13 and Nov. 16 and reported a 3% margin of error. Trafalgar employs a number of methods for conducting its polls, including live phone calls, automated calls, emails, text messages, and two other proprietary methods it does not share publicly. The newly identified Omicron coronavirus variant reached North America on Sunday, Canadian officials revealed. The variant has not yet be found in the United States although the World Health Organization (W.H.O.) called the variant a “very high” global risk. “We continue to urge the federal government to take the necessary steps to mandate point-of-arrival testing for all travellers irrespective of where they’re coming from to further protect against the spread of this new variant,” Ontario health officials wrote. The variant has so far revealed itself in Australia, England, Germany, Italy, the Czech Republic, and Belgium. Other nations have instituted travel restrictions, including Israel, Thailand, and the United States. The W.H.O. has called the new strain a “very high” risk to nations due to its “unprecedented number of spike mutations, some of which are concerning for their potential impact on the trajectory of the pandemic.” Director-General of the World Health Organization Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told the World Health Assembly on Monday the coronavirus is “not done with us.” “Omicron’s very emergence is another reminder that although many of us might think we’re done...

The new strain of COVID-19 that has caused worldwide alarm the last week has been detected in North America for the first time. Two cases of the Omicron variant were confirmed in Canada. Both were in Ottawa, Ontario Health Minister Christine Elliott said in a statement released Sunday evening, Nov. 28. The two infected people had traveled from Nigeria and have been isolated, Elliott said. The Omicron variant, whose name comes from the 15th letter of the Greek alphabet, is spreading fast in Europe after the first case was identified by scientists in South Africa on Tuesday, Nov. 9. Including Canada, it's now been confirmed in 17 countries. No cases of the new variant have been identified in the United States to date, but Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and the chief medical advisor to the president, said Sunday that it will arrive in America. "We all know when you have a virus that has already gone to multiple countries, inevitably it will be here," Fauci told ABC News. "The question is, will...
moreby Kendall Tietz   Teacher training at a Texas public school district teaches the tenets of Critical Race Theory, according to a document obtained by Fox News and videos provided by an education activist. Fort Worth Independent School District (FWISD) is reportedly infusing Critical Race Theory (CRT) into its teacher training, which states that “America is oppressive” and “White supremacy is everywhere,” Carlos Turcios, an activist who spent four years on FWISD’s Racial Equity Committee and now organizes parent protests, told Fox News. CRT holds that America is fundamentally racist, yet it teaches people to view every social interaction and person in terms of race. Its adherents pursue “antiracism” through the end of merit, objective truth and the adoption of race-based policies. The school district has asserted that it does not teach CRT, but it advertised a class for teachers and staff that introduced CRT into the curriculum, according to the “Overview of Service Provided by the Division of Equity & Excellence,” from September 2020. The overview outlines “Critical Race Theory (CRT) in Fort Worth ISD: An Introduction.” The overview explains CRT’s...

A guest on ABC’s "Good Morning America" posed concerns over how the omicron variant of the coronavirus could affect President Biden’s economic record. ABC congressional correspondent Rachel Scott filled in as the anchor for the morning show on Sunday when she spoke with deputy political director Averi Harper on the emergence of this new variant. Namely, Scott asked what kind of challenge the omicron variant posed to Biden. A damning new report claims that Hunter Biden helped expand Chinese influence in America in a $10 million a year agreement and an $80,000 diamond. In her new book, Laptop from Hell, New York Post columnist Miranda Devine, describes Hunter Biden's business dealings with a Chinese-linked energy consortium, called CEFC. Based on hundreds of emails from Hunter Biden's laptop which he left in a Delaware repair shop in April 2019, and transcripts of messages from WhatsApp, she claims that the Biden family offered their services to CEFC to help expand its business around the world. In exchange, Devine writes, Hunter Biden received $10 million a year for three years, and a diamond worth at least $80,000.               more   A protest allegedly over “occupying native land” erupted at the Mall of America on Black Friday. In the video of the incident, protesters can be heard banging native drums and chanting while standing in the mall’s rotunda. pic.twitter.com/dErue2SQiv — aurelie (@itaurelgrace) November 27, 2021 The video shows protesters dancing in a circle around a small gathering of mall security, drawing a small crowd of onlookers. Minnesota Crime tweeted out saying that it was an “impromptu protest.” The group wrote, “Officers at the mall are reporting that an ‘impromptu protest’ has formed in the east rotunda of the mall.” It is unclear if the protest was a planned event or who was behind it. Mall security allegedly asked for assistance from local police officers to disperse the crowd. The tweet reads, “Mall security is requesting additional officers to assist with moving the protestors out of the mall. Street patrol cars are responding to assist.” The group of protesters did not appear to be large. One clip of the incident showed around 20 people standing in the rotunda....

Sam Nunberg, former aide to President Trump, said the former president is “certainly, certainly considering” a presidential run and said he personally believes he will, telling Breitbart News Saturday that Trump must “look forward” despite everything that occurred in the last presidential election.  “Obviously, he is certainly, certainly considering it,” Nunberg said when asked if Trump will run in 2024.  “He seems to have his ducks in a row. I thought it was extremely smart that his Super PAC has already made hires in Iowa.” However, Nunberg identified a few “disadvantages” Trump could have running, noting that, from the minute he makes the announcement, he will essentially be running a general election campaign. “The problem for Donald Trump if he announces that he’s running for president, and I believe that he will, is he’s going to be running a general election campaign from the day he announces,” he said, noting that he could run into trouble in caucus and primary states, particularly if there is an insurgent. Another potential issue could be phony investigations, which plagued his presidency. LISTEN: Breitbart · Sam Nunberg – November...
Amazon has paid Adele at least £1 million to use her hit track Hold On for its Christmas advert. The lucrative tie-up with the online retailer was signed in the run-up to the release of her fourth studio album 30. The track will feature in campaigns in the UK and US as well as in other global markets. In the advert, Adele is heard as a schoolgirl walks through a subway station in America to meet friends. It was screened last week during ad breaks in her ITV show, An Audience With Adele. A source said: ‘This is a coup for Amazon, they are big – but Adele is bigger.’ Known previously for turning down endorsement deals, Adele once said she had been offered ‘everything you can imagine’ since shooting to fame in 2008. Her influence was illustrated last week when she persuaded Spotify to stop the shuffle feature being the default setting for albums. This mean tracks will now play in the order originally intended by the recording artist. Adele once said she had been offered ‘everything you can...
Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday. Turkey, stuffing, pie, four-day weekend… What’s not to love? But what makes Thanksgiving especially enjoyable are all the neurotic and narcissistic whiners who use the holiday to pretend they’re not Nazis. Nobody stole your land, you godless crybaby. Nobody slaughtered you or anyone you know, you squealing little gerbil. Why don’t you cry some more, bitch, while I add another dollop of whipped cream onto this fat slice of sweet potato pie. Yes, it’s these whiners who remind me of just how good life is in America. Imagine a country where life is so good that the only thing a bunch of overprivileged, simpering little bitches have to bitch about is shit that happened 150 years ago to people they don’t know and are not related to. That sounds like a pretty great country to me. Imagine a country so great that the only thing these professional, all-about-me moaners can find to moan about (when they’re not manufacturing race hoaxes) is stuff that happened so long ago Joe Biden doesn’t remember it. Of...
Newsmax’s Eric Bolling shared a number of disturbingly hateful messages he received over a recent segment where he accused President Joe Biden of not doing enough to enforce the law. The segment in question showed Bolling proclaiming that “In Biden’s America, Black Friday isn’t negative, it’s positive because everything is free.” Bolling made the claim during a snarky segment about the smash-and-grab robberies witnessed across the U.S. in recent days. “America’s back, baby!” Bolling exclaimed with clear sarcasm. He went on by ripping Biden’s Thanksgiving message to Al Roker, plus the president’s holiday getaway to Nantucket “while the regular folks like us struggle with the most expensive Thanksgiving in history.” Bolling made it clear he was being hyperbolic, even as he chalked up the lawlessness to “Biden’s America.” Nonetheless, it was enough for some people to send venomous criticism his way, one of which was an email that cruelly referenced the death of Bolling’s son from a drug overdose. You said on Newsmax: “In Biden’s America, Black Friday isn’t negative, it’s positive because everything is free.” You’re a fucking idiot....
"I've been at war for 30 years," Christian Picciolini says, intensity widening his eyes, "I'm ready to go home." His homeward journey involves leaving the work that has consumed his life for the past two decades: disengaging white extremists from neo-Nazi organizations or similar groups. Physically and emotionally exhausted, wrestling with PTSD and panic attacks, and dealing with death threats on a regular basis, Picciolini says he has no choice but to stop working one-on-one with white extremists attempting to reform their lives. "If I don't stop doing this, I could burn out and be no good to anybody, or I could die," Picciolini said, explaining that it's not just his own psyche he is trying to save, but also multiracial democracy in the United States. "There is a greater danger on the horizon, and I'm going to focus on that full time," he said. As former leader of Chicago Area Skinheads (CASH) and lead singer of the hate-rock band the Final Solution, Picciolini has devoted the past 21 years of his life to anti-racism advocacy and outreach young extremists....
more   A member of the Arizona House of Representatives is introducing legislation meant to teach Arizona’s K-12 students the ills of communism. “This is very personal to me, as someone who has survived a communist war,” said State Rep. Quang Nguyen (R-District 1) in a Tuesday press release.  “I have lost very close family members to the evil ideology of communism. I know what it feels to lose a nation to communism and that’s why I do not want my fellow Arizonans to ever go through what I have. It is up to us to ensure that future generations have an honest understanding of what communism truly is and the horrors it has produced for mankind.  Otherwise, it is likely to be repeated. The victims and survivors of communism deserve to have their voice heard.” Nguyen is a refugee whose family fled from communism in Vietnam and who says he “first came to America as a war refugee with a small bag of clothes on his back.” The legislation would require the State Board of Education (SBE) to re-write the...
In her Opening Monologue on "Hannity" Friday, host Tammy Bruce pointed to President Biden's out-of-touch claims in a nationally-televised phone call with NBC meteorologist Al Roker in New York's Herald Square – in which the president claimed, "America is back." "My message is: After two years, we are back – America's back," Biden said. "There’s nothing we are unable to overcome, Al." Bruce said the opposite is true, as inflation intensifies, the border remains wide open and Democrats in Congress pivot to blame businesses rather than themselves for the pain Americans are feeling: "Tonight, the Biden-Harris agenda is failing, literally on every front: Inflation is surging, the border is still a mess. American adversaries are emboldened -- All while Democrats are still eager to have us walk off a reckless far-left spending cliff with their so-called Build Back Better agenda," she said. America’s most elite colleges and universities really don’t want the public to take a peek behind the curtain and get a better understanding of who gets admitted and why. And it’s not for the reasons you might think. The urban legend endures that any Latino or African-American who applies to one of these ultra-selective schools can write their own ticket. But the truth is, the people who get the lion’s share of those tickets, who issue the tickets, and who, in fact, run the ticket booth are white. The real pigs at the trough are white people who have connections, make donations or otherwise encourage wealthy alumni boosters to send more checks. T’was always thus. A new study proves what the relatively few students of color who will ever have the chance to attend selective colleges and universities have long suspected: Despite what people call “imposter syndrome”—i.e., the insecurity that some Latinos and African Americans feel about whether they deserve the opportunities they’ve been afforded—they aren't imposters at all. Far from it. Rather, they’re among the most deserving of...
Last Saturday was a typically glorious autumn day in New York — refreshingly chilly under a bright, clear blue sky.  ‘We’re going for a brisk walk through Central Park,’ I informed a dear friend and native New Yorker.   ‘Take off your watches,’ she shot back, ‘tell Susan [my wife] not to wear any jewellery and don’t carry cash. There are muggers everywhere.’ Such warnings were commonplace when I first moved to New York in the late 1970s and the city was the crime capital of America. But over the years, under a series of strong mayors (above all Rudy Giuliani), New York became a pretty safe city by American standards. No longer. The Big Apple is on the slide once more. The pandemic has scarred the city much more than London. Signs of decay and dereliction are everywhere, even in the affluent parts. As we headed for the park through midtown Manhattan, row upon row of retail outlets were boarded up. The homeless lie in sleeping bags at street corners. Panhandlers (as Americans call beggars) are back, contributing to a...

The Salvation Army, known for its presence outside stores with bell-ringers and a red kettle for donations, asked white people to “lament, repent and apologize for biases or racist ideologies held and actions committed” in addition to donating their spare change, according to a report from the Daily Wire. The Protestant Christian church, which started the kettle-ringing tradition in 1891, made the request in a 67-page online guide titled, “Let’s Talk About Racism.” Screenshot from “Let’s Talk About Racism,” a guide put out by the Salvation Army. “We recognize that it is a profound challenge to sit on the hot seat and listen with an open heart to the hurt and anger of the wounded,” the guide told readers. “Yet, we are all hardwired to desire justice and fairness, so the need to receive a sincere apology is necessary,” it said. Then-GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump attended a worship service at the International Church of Las Vegas Oct. 30, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada. In the midst of the Trump era, I have regularly been surprised by how often I agree with a sentiment being written or tweeted by some conservative commentators such as Jennifer Rubin, or even sometimes Bill Kristol. But a piece Rubin recently penned for The Washington Post really brought the crux of that commonality home for me. It's really not about policy—we disagree plenty on that—it's more about a shared vision for the identity of the nation. Now perhaps more than ever, one either fundamentally believes in America as a diverse, multicultural nation where all are created equal, or one clings to a white Christian identity. As Rubin concluded, "We face a battle over the meaning of America. All defenders of a diverse democracy must stand shoulder to shoulder for an inclusive system of government." That's the common ground on which we stand, even if we often vehemently disagree over which policies are best suited to foster and facilitate that...
A United Nations report on gender violence found that 4,091 women were victims of femicide in Latin America and the Caribbean in 2020, compared with the previous year. The study was released by the global organization's Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean on Wednesday, and noted a 10 percent decrease compared to 2019 when 4,576 gender-related deaths of women were registered in the region.  Femicides are killings of women, by men, on account of their gender.  'Feminicide or femicide as an extreme and lethal form of gender violence continues to affect thousands of women and girls every year in Latin America and the Caribbean,' the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean said in the report.
