    A woman was killed in a Long Island crash involving a drunk driver, police say. It happened just after 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 3 in Elmont in front of 272 Elmont Road.  When police officers arrived on the scene, they discovered a 2014 BMW sedan on its side.  The investigation determined the vehicle was driving southbound on Elmont Road when it struck a parked car which caused it to roll over and strike a utility pole, Nassau County Police said.  A female passenger, 33, was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries, said police. She was pronounced dead by hospital staff a short while later.  The driver, Kwesi Williams, age 40, of Queens Village, was also injured and transported to an area hospital, according to police. After a further investigation, Williams was placed into custody. Williams has been charged with: Second-degree manslaughter, Second-degree vehicular manslaughter, Driving while intoxicated.  He will be arraigned when medically practical.
    FRANKLIN FURNACE– On Thursday December 2, 2021 at 6:48 p.m. the Portsmouth Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol received a call of a fatal crash involving a pedestrian on CR-1, Gallia Pike near milepost #5. Debra K Hurley, 61, of Ironton, was attempting to cross the roadway when she was struck by a vehicle in the southbound lane. Mrs. Hurley succumbed to her injuries as a result of the crash at the scene. Impairment is not suspected and the crash remains under investigation at this time. The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Green Township Fire/EMS Department and the Scioto County Coroner.
    PRINCETON, W.Va. (AP) — A Virginia man has been sentenced to a term of five to 25 years in prison on charges stemming from a fatal crash in West Virginia involving a newlywed couple. Ricky Lynn Olivo Jr., 41, of Woodstock appeared Monday in Mercer County for sentencing in the 2020 crash that killed Corey McKinney, 26, and injured his wife, Sabrina McKinney, the day after they got married, the Bluefield Daily Telegraph reported. He pleaded guilty in September to driving under the influence causing serious bodily injury and driving under the influence of controlled substances causing death.     BORDENTOWN, N.J. (CBS) — A man is dead after his 2005 Dodge Caravan collided with a tractor-trailer that closed Route 130 North in Bordentown on Monday night, police say. Police later identified the victim as 58-year-old David Jenkins of Pemberton Township, New Jersey. There’s no word on if Eugene Mercer Jr., the driver of the tractor-trailer, sustained any injuries at this time. Sacramento resident Danielle Lindsey Hanna, 30, was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by both vehicles along Fulton Avenue just north of Maison Way.     SAN JOSE — A bicyclist died Monday morning in a collision with a vehicle on Bascom Avenue near the Interstate 880 ramp, according to San Jose police. The crash was reported at 10:18 a.m. near the San Jose-Santa Clara border, police said. The rider died at the scene. Police said the driver involved in the crash stopped afterward and did not show any visible signs of driving impaired. Additional details were not immediately released early Monday afternoon. The death marks the city’s 55th roadway fatality of the year and the seventh involving a bicyclist who died, according to data compiled by this news organization. A Nissan Maxima and Ford Bronco were speeding down 18th Street towards Carson when they crossed the center line and crashed, the Port Authority said, pointing to initial reports.     One person was killed and five others were hospitalized after a two-car crash involving a drunk driver overnight on Long Island, police said. It happened just after 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21 in Islip. Driver, Michael Lupo, age 23, of North Babylon, was traveling southbound on the Robert Moses Causeway in a Dodge Charger when it collided with a Ford Focus, causing the Dodge to overturn, according to state police. The Dodge had four passengers. One of them, Allen Boston, age 23, of West Babylon, was taken to a nearby hospital and later died of injuries sustained in the crash, according to state police. The other three passengers were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, state police said. A driver and one passenger were in the Ford were also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, said police. Lupo was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and will be arraigned at Suffolk County First District Court on Wednesday, Dec. 8. The collision is still under investigation and state police are asking for any witnesses or anyone with information to call 631-756-3300.
    DEL RIO, Texas (CBSDFW.COM/AP) – A crash involving two jet trainers Friday, Nov. 19 left a pilot dead and two other pilots injured, one critically, at the Laughlin Air Force Base in West Texas, Air Force officials said. It happened around 10:00 a.m. on the ground at the base near Del Rio, about three miles northeast of the Mexican border. The Air Force did not release details Friday on what happened, and said the incident was still under investigation. The critically injured pilot was taken to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, about 140 miles east of the base, according to an Air Force statement. The other injured pilot was treated for minor injuries at Val Verde Regional Medical Center in Del Rio and discharged. No identities have been released.     A 24-year-old Newark man pleaded guilty Wednesday in connection to a Morris County police pursuit and crash that involved two juveniles. Isaac Zackery-Barnes entered the plea to charges of second-degree eluding and third-degree receiving stolen property, Hanover Police Chief Michael Loock said. Zackery-Barnes fled from Hanover officers in a stolen vehicle with two juveniles in Sept. 2020, Loock said. The vehicle crashed in Parsippany, and the trio were arrested following a brief foot chase, police said. Meanwhile, Zackery-Barnes was also involved in a Union County stolen vehicle pursuit and crash that injured two police officers and led to charges for another man and a teen on Nov. 9, according to Mountainside PD. Zackery-Barnes will be sentenced Jan. 6, 2022 to 10 years in state prison for eluding with a concurrent five-year sentence for receiving stolen property, authorities said.

It happened in North Bergen near Bergen Boulevard and Columbia Avenue just after 4 p.m. Tuesday. Chopper 2 captured a school bus on a sidewalk and a nearby traffic light pole that had been knocked down. It’s unclear whether there were any kids on the bus, but so far, we are not hearing of any serious injuries.
    MOORPARK, Calif. (KABC) -- Two people were killed and two others were injured in a two-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck in Moorpark Monday afternoon, officials said.Footage showed a gray-colored sedan crushed by the semi-truck as Ventura County firefighters attempted to extract a victim from the backseat of the car.AIR7 HD was over the scene shortly before 4 p.m. in the 5800 block of Grimes Canyon Road.Grimes Canyon Road was expected to be shut down for several hours due to the crash.It was unclear how the crash occurred, but it appeared the gray car slammed into the front of the semi-truck.The names of the victims killed were not immediately released.     DENVER (CBS4) – Denver police arrested a driver who they say hit an officer on Interstate 25 early Saturday morning. The crash happened in the southbound lanes near Colfax Avenue. Police say the officer was investigating another crash and was outside of his vehicle. The suspect then allegedly hit the officer and ran away from the scene. UPDATE: This crash occurred on SB I-25 at W Colfax Ave. The officer was investigating an early crash and was struck outside of their patrol vehicle. The suspect was arrested on suspicion of DUI.     LAS VEGAS (AP) — A longtime friend said she was with a Las Vegas woman minutes before she was killed in a fiery pre-dawn crash that authorities say former Raiders player Henry Ruggs III caused by driving 156 mph with a blood-alcohol level twice the legal limit in Nevada. Tina Tintor dropped Bojana Filipovic off at her home early Tuesday after walking Tintor’s dog, Maxi, and talking about going to Serbia, Filopovic told Fox5 KVVU-TV in Las Vegas. Both 23 years old and immigrants from the Balkan country, they became friends as neighbors in Las Vegas when they were 5. “She was just about to get her citizenship and everything was going swell,” Filipovic said. “She’d give you a shoulder to lean on, and she’ll always slap sense into you if you do something wrong.     MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A 75-year-old Willmar woman is dead after the vehicle she was in collided with a semi-truck Wednesday. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the incident occurred on Highway 71 and Renville County Road 11 in Winfield Township, which is in Renville County. There, a semi was traveling northbound on the highway and a Hyundai was going westbound on the county road.     An overturned tractor-trailer on I-287 led to massive delays for commuters during the morning rush in Westchester. New York State Police said that the truck overturned on I-287 at approximately 8:15 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 4 near exit 8 in White Plains, blocking the westbound lanes, while two eastbound lanes had to be closed because of debris from the crash. Eastbound delays lasted approximately an hour, with lanes reopening at approximately 9:15 a.m., police said. One westbound lane was opened by approximately 9:45 a.m. on Thursday morning as crews worked to clear the scene. Eastbound traffic was backed up near the new Tappan Zee Bridge, police said, while westbound traffic was backed up all the way to I-95 on Thursday morning. The wide receiver was charged with a DUI resulting in death and booked into the Clark County Detention Center, according to police. Ruggs appeared in court on Wednesday morning and many more details from the crash emerged. According to Katelyn Newberg of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, prosecutor Eric Bauman said that Ruggs was driving at 156 mph about two seconds before the crash and had slowed down to 127 mph when airbags deployed. The 22-year-old wide receiver had a blood-alcohol level that was twice the legal limit of 0.8 in Nevada, according to prosecutors, she said.     A serious crash involving a school bus has halted traffic on interstate 79, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. The multi-vehicle crash happened along interstate 79 northbound between Exit 96: PA 488 - PORTERSVILLE/PROSPECT and Exit 105: PA 108 - SLIPPERY ROCK, according to PennDOT. Multiple medical vehicles, including helicopters were called to the scene just after 5 p.m., according to numerous broadcast news reports and as seen on PennDOT's 511pa. The crash involves a school bus, as reported by WPXI.     (CBS DETROIT) – Three people have been injured after a train hit a car in Detroit on Monday night. The incident happened at the train crossing near Seven Mile and Mount Elliot.     GRASS VALLEY (CBS13) – Officers are looking for anyone who might have information about a fatal hit-and-run crash in Grass Valley. On Saturday around 4:30 a.m., CHP received the report of a crash on Alta Street and Dolores Drive. Officers say the victim, a female, was riding her skateboard when she was struck by a vehicle. Officers believe the vehicle is a Nissan with front-end damage, possibly including to its grille and headlights.     A man is dead after a Wednesday morning hit-and-run in St. Mary’s County, Maryland, according to the county sheriff’s office. Authorities said a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck crashed into a horse-drawn buggy around 7:30 a.m. The truck was headed south along Point Lookout Road from Loveville Road when it crossed the centerline and struck the buggy near the intersection of the two roads. The driver of the buggy, Henry Brubacher Stauffer, 65, of Loveville, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck fled on foot, authorities said. They believe that driver error and alcohol and/or drugs are contributing factors. Officials ask that anyone who may have witnessed the crash or can provide information to call Cpl.     WINSLOW TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBS) — Five people are injured after a crash involving two tour buses on U.S. 30 in Winslow Township, according to officials. The crash happened around 6:07 a.m. east of Route 143 and Spring Garden Road. Chopper 3 was over the area as emergency crews examined the damage. Officials said one person was airlifted to a local hospital, while another was take by emergency crews. Three others were treated at the scene.
    A Long Island driver was involved in a fatal crash in upstate New York. At approximately 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 21, New York State Police troopers responded to a crash on I-90 in Albany between the westbound exit 24 and exit 25. Police said that Nassau County resident Jesus Estivente, age 28, of Uniondale, was driving a 2021 Freightliner tractor-trailer when he attempted to change lanes. As the truck moved from the center lane to the left lane, it crossed the rumble strips and Estivente overcorrected, causing the vehicle to lose control, police said. The tractor-trailer then drove through the median and center guide rail, entered the westbound travel lanes, and struck a 2019 Toyota Rav4 head-on, said police. The tractor-trailer came to rest after it jackknifed and struck an embankment on the north shoulder, police said. In the crash, the driver and only occupant of the Toyota, Latham resident Bernice Rostocki, age 58, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Albany County Coroner, police said.     MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Three people were taken to the hospital Sunday night after an ambulance and another vehicle crashed in central Minnesota. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the ambulance driver slowed for a stop sign at the intersection of Central Avenue and 160th Street in Milaca Township. When the driver pulled into the intersection, her ambulance collided with a Toyota Prius. The ambulance’s emergency lights were on at the time, according to the state patrol. The 65-year-old man driving the Prius, the 32-year-old ambulance driver and a 79-year-old passenger in the ambulance were all hospitalized. They are all expected to survive their injuries. Another passenger in the ambulance, a 36-year-old woman, was treated at the scene.     One person was killed during a two-vehicle crash between a school bus and a dump truck in the Hudson Valley. It happened around 8:50 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 14 in Ulster County, on Route 9W in the town of Saugerties. The driver of the dump truck suffered critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Ulster County Sheriff's Office. The school bus operator suffered minor injuries and was transported to Health Alliance of the Hudson Valley Broadway Campus in Kingston for further treatment.   No children were on the school bus at the time of the accident, the department said.  The investigation is being conducted by the Ulster County Sheriff's Office and New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.   The names of the parties involved will not be released at this time pending the notification of next of kin.
