Software It looks like Microsoft has launched a new campaign to force Windows 10 and 11 users to use their browser. It uses a new method, very aggressive from my point of view. When a user enters the Google Chrome installation page, they get a pop-up message that Microsoft Edge is the best browser or Google Chrome is a bit old and they should try something new. Here are three examples of such messages: “Microsoft Edge runs on the same technology as Chrome, with Microsoft’s extra confidence” “This browser is 2008! Do you know what’s new? Microsoft Edge. ” No one said, “I hate saving money.” Microsoft Edge is the best online shopping browser “ Microsoft Edge is a low-cost browser (less than 6%) even if Windows 10 and 11 are already installed. JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) — Tyler Riddell found Nate Adkins on a crossing route in the back of the end zone for a 2-point conversion with 35 seconds to play to give seventh-seeded East Tennessee State a shocking 32-31 win over Kennesaw State on Saturday in the second round of the FCS playoffs. Riddell threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Will Huzzie with 1:28 to play and Tim Stayskal recovered an onside kick on the Kennesaw 48. It took the Buccaneers 5 plays to score; a 4-yard pass from Riddell to Quay Holmes. ETSU coach Randy Sanders didn’t hesitate in the decision to go for the win. The Buccaneers (11-1) face second-seeded North Dakota State in the quarterfinals next weekend. Riddell was 22 of 35 for 238 yards and three touchdowns. Holmes had seven receptions for 95 yards and two touchdowns and the Southern Conference Offensive MVP ran 13 times for 87 yards with a touchdown. Jonathan Murphy came off the bench to throw for two touchdowns and run for two and Kennesaw State (11-2) was up 31-17 after...
Here’s a look at how the Miami Dolphins (5-7) and New York Giants (4-7) match up in six key areas ahead of Sunday’s Week 13 game at Hard Rock Stadium (1 p.m., FOX): When the Dolphins run: The Dolphins are at least starting to utilize the run game enough where opponents have to respect it, which wasn’t previously the case. They had 33 and 39 rushing plays in the past two wins over the New York Jets and Carolina Panthers, respectively. Their yards-per-carry averages in those two games: 3.5 and 2.8. So, that could still use some work, but combined with an efficient short passing game, it’s been good enough. Miami is still No. 31 in the NFL in rushing offense, with Myles Gaskin’s 482 rushing yards at 3.5 yards per carry leading the way. Maybe the addition of veteran former Pro Bowl back Phillip Lindsay starts to bring a spark. He already carried 12 times for 42 yards in his Dolphins’ debut off just one practice, one walkthrough and some additional work. The Giants are 26th...
Justin Fields’ performance in the stretch run of the season will set the tone in terms of what the Chicago Bears roster looks like going forward. Complicating that is the rib injury he suffered Nov. 21 during the aggravating 16-13 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Fields missed the Thanksgiving Day victory in Detroit and Andy Dalton is set to start again Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals at Soldier Field. If you are compiling a list of young players not named Fields in position to offer hope for the future, start with outside linebacker Trevis Gipson. The 2020 fourth-round pick hasn’t gotten the attention given to wide receiver Darnell Mooney, tight end Cole Kmet, cornerback Jaylon Johnson, offensive tackles Larry Borom and Teven Jenkins or even running back Khalil Herbert, but Gipson is a player the Bears need to take a large step forward in the final six games. The others, of course, have carved out niches for themselves or are working to do that. Gipson has flashed on occasion and now with 17 games of experience...
Chicago Bears quarterback Andy Dalton will start his second straight game in place of Justin Fields on Sunday as the Bears host the Arizona Cardinals at Soldier Field. As Fields recovers from broken ribs, Dalton will try to push the Bears to a second straight win against a much more difficult opponent than the winless Detroit Lions team he beat last week. As kickoff approaches, here’s our snapshot look at the game. Chicago Bears (4-7) vs. Arizona Cardinals (9-2) Kickoff: Noon Sunday at Soldier Field. TV and radio: FOX-32, WBBM-AM 780, WCFS-FM 105.9, WRTO-AM 1200 (Spanish). The line: Cardinals by 7½. Over/under: 43½. Sign up now to get Brad Biggs’ 10 thoughts first 1. Player in the spotlight The Cardinals declared quarterback Kyler Murray questionable to play Sunday in what would be his first game since Oct. 28 because of a left ankle injury. Coach Kliff Kingsbury called Murray a game-day decision — one that could drastically affect what the Bears are facing. In eight games before his injury, Murray threw...
The Ravens (8-3) head into Pittsburgh for a 4:25 p.m. game Sunday to face a Steelers (5-5-1) team that is coming off an embarrassing 41-10 loss to the AFC North rival Cincinnati Bengals. Baltimore isn’t used to being favored in Pittsburgh, but they hold significant matchup advantages. Here’s who has the edge in each phase of the game: Ravens passing game vs. Steelers pass defense Lamar Jackson struggled through one of the worst games of his career in the Ravens’ 16-10 win over the Cleveland Browns, throwing four interceptions despite the fact his offensive line did a solid job protecting him from Myles Garrett and Co. Jackson has thrown 12 interceptions in 10 starts, tied for second most in the league. He did make a remarkable throw against Cleveland, scrambling 20 yards behind the line of scrimmage before he found Mark Andrews in the end zone for the Ravens’ lone touchdown. Jackson has not excelled in four previous starts against the Steelers, throwing five interceptions and taking nine sacks. Andrews (60 catches on 89 targets, 761 yards) and Marquise...
NEW YORK (AP) — Kevin Durant and James Harden took turns putting on a show in front of the largest crowd ever to see a Nets game in Brooklyn, one that was split between fans of New York’s two teams. In the end, the Nets were celebrating and the Knicks were fuming. READ MORE: Timo Meier Scores Twice In Sharks' Win Over DevilsIn its 10th season, the matchup between teams just a few miles apart looked like a real rivalry. “Being here two years now, it doesn’t matter who’s on that team or who’s on this team, I think the energy’s always going to be there,” Harden said. “… Whether it’s here or at MSG, the fans are going to be cheering for their respective teams and it’s going to be a good game every time, and tonight we’re just happy to come out with the win.” They got it after James Johnson made two free throws with 2.2 seconds left to give the Nets a 112-110 victory Tuesday night. Share this: The most fans ever assembled inside of Downtown’s Barclays Center didn’t leave disappointed Tuesday night. Especially if they were pulling for Brooklyn. James Johnson hit a pair of free throws with 2.2 seconds to play as the Nets edged the arch rival New York Knicks, 112-110, in front of a record-setting bi-partisan crowd of 18,081 on the corner of Atlantic and Flatbush.
NEW YORK (AP) — James Harden and Kevin Durant carried Brooklyn all the way until James Johnson made two free throws with 2.2 seconds left to give the Nets a 112-110 victory over the New York Knicks on Tuesday night. Harden had 34 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists, and Durant heated up after a slow start to finish with 27 points and nine assists. He had 11 points in the final 5:45, but the Knicks sent a second defender to force him to give the ball up on the last possession. The ball went to Johnson, who was fouled in the lane and made the free throws for the final points of an entertaining, nationally televised undercard to the Warriors-Suns main event. Alec Burks scored a season-high 25 points in his new role as the Knicks’ starting point guard. Julius Randle added 24 points, nine rebounds and eight assists. The teams traded leads throughout the fourth quarter in front of a split crowd of 18,081, the largest in Brooklyn history. The Nets had highlight plays all over the floor...

And club captain Fernandinho fired home a late second off the post in a rare appearance from the bench to make it safe. That makes it five straight wins for Pep Guardiola’s men – and that’s the kind of form that will send a shiver down the spine of their title rivals. Just three points separated these two teams ahead of kick off and there was little to choose between them early on. Aymeric Laporte’s flick header from a Gundogan corner clipped the top of the bar while Riyad Mahrez was denied the opening goal by the linesman. But the...
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Shaylee Gonzales scored 20 points, including two free throws with three seconds left, and West Virginia made just one of two from the line with .4 seconds remaining, giving BYU a 58-57 win over the No. 22 Mountaineers in the championship game of the St. Pete Showcase on Saturday. After Esmery Martinez of West Virginia tied the game with a layup with 57 seconds to play the Mountaineers had a chance to take the lead after a BYU turnover but they missed a shot. Gonzales was going for the game winner when Martinez fouled her. With Kari Niblack going for the tie as time ran out, Tegan Graham fouled Niblack. Niblack made the first free throw, BYU called a timeout and Niblack missed the second shot. Martinez grabbed the rebound but couldn’t get off a winning attempt. Paisley Harding added 13 points for BYU (7-0), which beat No. 17 Florida State in the tourney opener. Graham scored 11. BYU finished 9 of 11 from the line and was 23 of 28 in knocking off consecutive...
The Ravens (7-3) are coming off another wild finish in a 16-13 win over the Bears in Chicago. Backup Tyler Huntley led Baltimore to victory but starting quarterback Lamar Jackson is expected to be back under center for a key AFC North content against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday night. Here’s who has the edge in each phase: Ravens passing game vs. Browns pass defense Backup quarterback Tyler Huntley led the Ravens to a comeback victory over the Chicago Bears, but Lamar Jackson is expected to return from illness against the Browns. Jackson struggled with the Miami Dolphins’ relentless Cover-0 blitzes in his last start, but the Browns rank in the league’s bottom 10 in blitz rate, so this might not be the week for him to show how he has adjusted. The Ravens also played without their No. 1 wide receiver, Marquise “Hollywood” Brown (thigh), against the Bears. Tight end Mark Andrews stepped in as Huntley’s chief target with eight catches, five of them for first downs. He’s on track for career highs in receptions and yards. Veteran wide...

If you’re running out of conversation starters for your family and friends as you recover from turkey dinner, here’s one for you: Why are cranberry sauce labels upside-down? It’s a longtime mystery that popped up online again in 2021 when buyers noticed that the labels on jellied cranberry sauce are flipped. The rounded edge, which for most cans is on the bottom, is on the top for cans of Ocean Spray cranberry sauce. Ocean Spray told CNN Business the labeling process is strategic and intentional. It makes preparation easier, according to the company spokesperson. The cans are “filled and labeled upside down with the rounded edge on top...
Here’s a look at how the Miami Dolphins (4-7) and Carolina Panthers (5-6) match up in six key areas ahead of Sunday’s Week 12 game at Hard Rock Stadium (1 p.m., FOX): When the Dolphins run: The Dolphins went back to committing to the run game against the Jets. While it only got them 3.5 yards per carry versus a run defense that ranks toward the bottom of the league, it was respectable enough to help open play-action and run-pass-option passes as quarterback Tua Tagovailoa completed better than 80 percent of passes in the win at New York. Miami seeks a secondary contributor to Myles Gaskin in the backfield. With Malcolm Brown still on injured reserve and Salvon Ahmed ineffective, Duke Johnson was elevated from the practice squad last week. On Wednesday, the Dolphins claimed former Broncos and Texans running back Phillip Lindsay off waivers, so maybe his speed can help improve the NFL’s No. 31-ranked rushing attack that averages 77.4 yards per game on the ground. The Panthers’ run defense is 19th in the NFL, allowing 114.5 yards per...

(CNN)Barcelona limped to a goalless draw at home to Benfica in Xavi's first Champions League match as head coach, meaning the team now needs to win away at Bayern Munich to guarantee progress through to the knockout stages.Given the contrasting form of both sides -- Bayern has won all five its group stage games so far, including a 3-0 Camp Nou hammering of Barça -- that result seems unlikely, but it's not all doom and gloom for the Catalan club.Yusuf Demir's standout individual performance in the first half was one exceedingly bright spot on an otherwise frustrating evening, with the 18-year-old providing an exciting glimpse of what his future may hold.Demir, already a senior Austrian international, joined the Blaugrana on loan from Rapid Vienna in the summer with an option to make the move permanent for a reported €10 million ($11.25M).The forward has only sparingly been given playing time in recent weeks, clocking just 34 minutes of first team football since September prior to starting against Benfica.Read MoreREAD: Barcelona appoints club legend Xavi as new coachRemember the name. The fate of Travis McMichael and Greg McMichael, accused of chasing and killing Ahmaud Arbery in 2020, will soon be in the hands of a jury. The trial of Travis and Greg McMichael and William “Roddie” Bryant Jr., a trio of white men accused of chasing and murdering Ahmaud Arbery in Georgia last year, neared its end just 24 hours ago. But after closing arguments from both sides where defense attorneys painted Arbery as an unstable criminal, the prosecution is now poised to deliver its rebuttal before the case goes to the jury. It was not the only grotesque depiction defense attorneys offered of Arbery, but one comment did prompt an audible gasp in the courtroom Monday, forcing Arbery’s mother, Wanda Cooper-Jones, to briefly leave. It was uttered by Laura Hogue, an attorney for defendant Greg McMichael. Hogue told jurors that the young Black man, just 25 years old when he was gunned down in Georgia last year, was not really a victim. “Turning Ahmaud Arbery into a victim after the choices that he made does not reflect the reality of what brought...

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Jaren Jackson scored a season-high 26 points, winning a jump ball and hitting a 3-pointer in the final seconds, to lift the Memphis Grizzlies to a 119-118 victory over the Utah Jazz on Monday night. Ja Morant had 32 points and Desmond Bane added a career-high 28 as the Grizzlies scored the final seven points for their third win in their last four games. Bojan Bogdanovic scored 24 points and made a season-best seven 3-pointers. He made back-to-back jumpers from beyond the arc in the final two minutes to put the Jazz in prime position. Tied at 112, Rudy Gobert blocked Morant’s floater and Royce O’Neale found Bogdanovic for a transition 3. The next time down, the Croatian sharpshooter drained a step-back 3 for a 118-112 lead with 1:28 remaining. Memphis hit four of six free throws while stopping the Jazz on consecutive possessions. Then, on Morant’s miss with 14.1 seconds left, an official review remaining showed Gobert did not interfere with the ball in the cylinder. It resulted in a jump ball at...

SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador (AP) — El Salvador President Nayib Bukele has pitched a proposed law requiring people and organizations who receive foreign funding to register as “foreign agents,” following the lead of countries like the United States. When the U.S. passed its own Foreign Agents Registration Act in 1938, World War II was on the horizon and the U.S. government was concerned about the spread of Nazi propaganda. The very different political context in today’s El Salvador is raising concerns about the proposal that could be voted on as soon as Wednesday. Two years into his term, Bukele enjoys high popularity. Earlier this year, his supporters gave his party a sweeping electoral victory allowing them to take control of the Legislative Assembly. The new congress in turn immediately replaced the justices of the Supreme Court’s constitutional chamber and the attorney general, all of whom had proved an obstacle to some of Bukele’s moves, especially early in the pandemic. “To be like developed countries, we have to do what they do, not what they say,” Bukele tweeted last...

Boyer countered on Tuesday. “Ultimately, it’s just my job to make sure that we get the right calls in there on game day,” he said. “There’s sometimes during timeouts or in between series that we may discuss that as we go, but it’s really a non-story. I don’t know what people are looking at.” Various onlookers have pointed to the play sheets Flores holds on the sideline, but Boyer insists Flores has those for each of the three phases of...
VIDEO4:3304:33Bitcoin ETF outlook for 2022 after another SEC rejectionETF Edge Bitcoin ETF hopefuls beware. Exchange-traded funds backed by the cryptocurrency itself are likely a long way off after the Securities and Exchange Commission's latest rejection, two market analysts told CNBC's "ETF Edge" on Monday. The SEC rejected VanEck's filing for a physical bitcoin ETF on Friday, saying it still lacked confidence that the bitcoin market was free of manipulation and fraud to approve the product. Two bitcoin futures ETFs — the ProShares Bitcoin Strategy ETF (BITO) and the Valkyrie Bitcoin Strategy ETF (BTF) — began trading in late October. VanEck's Bitcoin Strategy ETF, the cheapest such offering yet, begins trading Tuesday under the ticker XBTF. After pulling its bitcoin futures ETF application because of a possible erosion in performance, Invesco is now looking ahead to the pure-play version, Anna Paglia, its head of ETFs and indexed strategies, said in the Monday interview. "I hope that 2022 is going to be the year for that product," Paglia said, acknowledging that her timeline could be "wishful thinking." "I wasn't surprised that the...
MONACO midfield sensation Aurelien Tchouameni has reportedly been promised a move next summer, with Newcastle the latest club to emerge as a potential destination. Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and a host of Europe's top clubs have also been linked with a transfer for the £43million rated French international. 1Tchouameni's Monaco form has seen him rewarded with France call-upsCredit: AP But now Newcastle have 'entered the scene,' according to outlet El Nacional. The mega-rich Saudi owners have 'planned' a lucrative package to offer both Tchouameni himself and his club Monaco. And the youngster may well be tempted by a move to Tyneside. A move to the Toon would make the 21-year-old the star of the show, with the Tchouameni keen to play a prominent role at his next club. He has his eyes firmly set on a 2022 World Cup spot with France, and a move to Stamford Bridge or a fellow European giant would not guarantee the same playing time that he would enjoy at Newcastle. Real Madrid president Florentino Perez had expected Tchouameni to join...
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Ryan Tannehill ran and threw for touchdowns as the Tennessee Titans held off the New Orleans Saints 23-21 Sunday for their NFL-best sixth straight victory. The Titans (8-2) also became he second team in NFL history to win five straight over playoff teams from the season before, joining the 2003 Philadelphia Eagles. Tennessee improved to 7-0 overall against 2020 playoff teams this season. The Saints (5-4) dropped their second straight since losing quarterback Jameis Winston to a season-ending ACL injury. Against the Titans, they also played without a trio of starters in four-time Pro Bowl running back Alvin Kamara because of an injured knee, left tackle Terron Armstead (knee and shoulder injuries) and defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson (foot), who was just put on injured reserve. The Saints still had a chance to tie late. Trevor Siemian, the Titans’ designated survivor QB for part of last season, threw a 15-yard TD pass to Marquez Callaway with 1:16 left, pulling the Saints within 23-21. But Adam Trautman was flagged for a false start, pushing...
Republicans are in the best position to retake seats in Congress during midterm elections in four decades, according to a new poll.  An ABC News/Washington Post poll published Sunday found if midterm elections were held now, 51 percent of all registered voters say they would vote for a Republican in their congressional district, as opposed to 41 percent who said they would go with a Democrat.  That figure represents the largest lead for the GOP in the 110 polls conducted by the two news organizations since 1981, ABC noted. It also represents only the second time since 1981 Republicans have held a statistical advantage in that category.   The same poll found 62 percent of Americans said the Democratic party is "out of touch" with the concerns of most citizens, compared to 58 percent who said the same of Republicans.  A total of 63 percent of all respondents indicated they support President BidenJoe BidenMichael Flynn says of the US: 'We have to have one religion' White House tries to pivot messaging on economy Biden expresses 'great concern' over Belarus-Poland border crisis MORE's newly-passed...
Share this: Every kid in high school is looking for an edge unless you have one built-in. Captain of the football or basketball team had such an edge. I was co-captain of the riflery team; most of the school didn’t know we had one. I was the last man cut from basketball tryouts. I went from almost someone to oblivion. Oblivion could be the black hole of Calcutta. While not the largest high school in Brooklyn, Midwood was filled to capacity almost from day one, and as the years went by, it got to capacity plus. During the changing of classes, the halls were like the subway on the weekend headed to Brighton Beach, except people were moving. I think there were 1,200 students in my class. That’s a lot of oblivion. If one is smart, one isn’t obviously looking for an edge. It made you look like a jerk. No edge there. I developed a friendship with a girl whose reputation was that she was “off-limits.” “Property of Football Team” would have read her jersey, which had inside of...
Getty Olivier Vernon #54 of the New York Giants celebrates a sack with Landon Collins #21 of the New York Giants during their game against the Chicago Bears. Despite paying the likes of both Frank Clark and Chris Jones in excesses of $20 million annually, the Kansas City Chiefs have just 12.0 team sacks to show for it this season. The team did recently flip a sixth-rounder to acquire Melvin Ingram from the Pittsburgh Steelers. Yet, it’s difficult to expect a player who has just 2.5 sacks over his last 18 games to almost single-handedly help turn around the league’s 31st-ranked pass rush. In reality, Ingram and Clark could benefit from another running mate coming off the edge. While the market is relatively thin nearly 10 weeks into the season, Olivier Vernon still remains on the unemployment line. Working his way back from injury, Brent Sobleski of Bleacher Report believes the Chiefs would be wise to kick the tires on former Giants and Browns edge rusher in hopes of bolstering their sack production: Olivier Vernon will eventually be...

Two Vietnam Veterans finally reunited more than 50 years after one saved another in the heat of battle. Dale Edge has always wondered about Fred Kjorlien, a man he saved one fateful day in Vietnam after an RPG left Kjorlien seriously injured, while the two were serving in the 1st Infantry division of the U.S. Army, according to the Jacksonville Journal-Courier. “I got behind a tree dropped down and this leg was up and I was shooting,” Kjorlien told KSDK. “And an RPG hit the side of the tree.” “Before the medics got there, I put a tourniquet on Fred’s leg,” Edge recalled to the outlet.  The last time the pair saw each other was when Fred was being taken onto a helicopter before he was transported for medical care, according to the Jacksonville Journal-Courier. “I didn’t know if he lived. I wanted to know if he made it or not,” Edge told KSDK. Kjorlien lost his leg as a result of the RPG blast and now resides in Minnesota, working for a prosthetics manufacturer called Great Steps, KSDK reports.  Edge...

Here’s what you missed on one unpredictable episode… Photo courtesy of CBS ViakanaREAD MORE: New Anti-Doping, Medication Rules For Horse Racing UnveiledAfter last week’s merge, the new tribe is now “Viakana.” Since the previous Tribal Council, alliances have been even shakier, especially among the old three Yase tribe members, Xander, Evvie and Tiffany. Even though these three pulled off an epic move at last Tribal, lots of info was spilled, which is now creating quite a bit of friction among the three. In last week’s episode, Deshawn shared how he knew all along about Xander’s Hidden Immunity Idol, thanks to Evvie. This doesn’t sit well with Xander, since he had no clue Deshawn knew. Now he’s uncertain he can trust Evvie, who’s been his number one since day one. And because of this, it leaves him uneasy about Tiffany too. Xander now labels himself as a “free agent.” Evvie, who now says she’s on a “relationship recovery tour,” begins to amend her relationships...
