Tucker Carlson said Chris Cuomo was fired because the Cuomo Prime Time host had outlived his usefulness to CNN “dwarf king” president “Jeff Zucker. CNN terminated Cuomo on Saturday after a rocky year. In May he was revealed to have been advising his brother, then-Gov. Andrew Cuomo on how to handle allegations of sexual misconduct against him. Last week, it was disclosed that the cable news host sought to dig up information on his brother’s accusers. That prompted CNN to suspend Cuomo indefinitely. Two days later, the network fired him after it was alerted to an allegation of sexual harassment against the host at a network he had worked at previously. “They did it not for his actual sins, but because of his mafia-like commitment to his family,” said Carlson on Monday night, “which was by far the best thing about Chris Cuomo. It was his one redeeming quality. That’s why they fired him for the question is, what about the people who remain? And in particular, the dwarf king who runs CNN.” Carlson claimed Zucker, who is slated to...
LONDON (AP) — One of the scientists behind the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine is warning that the next pandemic may more contagious and more lethal unless more money is devoted to research and preparations to fight emerging viral threats. In excerpts released ahead of a speech Monday, Prof. Sarah Gilbert says the scientific advances made in fighting deadly viruses “must not be lost” due to the cost of fighting the current pandemic. “This will not be the last time a virus threatens our lives and our livelihoods,’’ Gilbert is expected to say. “The truth is, the next one could be worse. It could be more contagious, or more lethal, or both.” Gilbert is scheduled to make the remarks Monday night when she delivers this year’s Richard Dimbleby lecture, named after the late broadcaster who was the BBC’s first war correspondent and a pioneer of television news in Britain. The annual televised lecture features addresses by influential figures in business, science and government. Gilbert is set to call on governments to redouble their commitment to scientific research and pandemic preparedness, even after...

You can sign up for free right here.Chris Cuomo's termination by CNN is the latest example of upheaval in television news. The 7pm Eastern hour on Fox News has been home to rotating hosts for nearly an entire year. The 11pm hour on MSNBC will soon need a new host due to Brian Williams' exit. Early next year MSNBC's 9pm hour will also need a new host, since Rachel Maddow is stepping back from her daily duties. And now CNN's 9pm hour is suddenly vacant, as well. This is a seriously turbulent time for the top players in cable news -- and that's even before factoring in business model pressures and streaming wars. Now, here's the latest on Cuomo...The day-by-day timelineRead MoreSaturday's termination of Chris Cuomo understandably caught many people off guard. On Sunday's "Reliable," I spent six minutes laying out the day-to-day timeline, from Monday's document dump through Saturday's decision. ONE of the Crumbleys' former neighbors had warned child abuse authorities about the parents leaving Ethan at home while they went out drinking Kayla LeMieux claims that Jennifer and James Crumbley often left Ethan alone when they went out to bars in downtown Lake Orion when the now-accused murderer was about eight or nine years old in 2014 and 2015. 5Jennifer CrumbleyCredit: AFP 5James CrumbleyCredit: AFP 5Ethan CrumbleyCredit: The Mega Agency The Crumbleys lived near Lake Orion before moving to Oxford. LeMieux told the Detroit Free Press she was so concerned about the boy's wellbeing that she made an anonymous phone complaint to the state’s Children’s Protective Services agency. She also said that when his parents were gone, Ethan would knock on her door and ask her to call his parents. “They didn’t leave him with a phone,' said LeMieux. The now-28-year-old said she worked with Jennifer at a restaurant in 2012 and considered her a friend. However, their friendship ended in part because of LeMieux's concerns about Ethan. “It was really when I finally started to say more, because...
It is not a secret that Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) does not think very highly of National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director Dr. Anthony Fauci. However, while Paul continues to have doubts about Fauci’s insights and advice, he urged viewers of FNC’s “Hannity” to ignore Fauci on Friday. “Virtually none of the edicts or the promulgations that come from Fauci’s mouth are based in science at all,” he said. “Take the idea that we’re now going to test the day of travel. The rapid test is accurate about between 30 and 50% if you don’t have symptoms. So most people traveling, if they know they’re sick, are going to not travel. So, most of the people we’re talking about are traveling are without symptoms. The test is 30 to 50% accurate. The Omicron variant is already across the United States and across the world. No travel ban is going to stop it, and no amount of testing is going to stop it.” “But think about this — Fauci now says if you know someone’s been vaccinated, you don’t have...
MIAMI BEACH—It was not long before midnight when the fire maidens wearing crowns of burning torches danced out over the pool at the National Hotel to lightly feign fellatio. And, suddenly, you knew everything was going to be alright again. At Art Basel Miami Beach, the Black-Friday-meets-spring-break of the art industry, COVID initially chilled the mood but not the sales, the crowds, and certainly not the weeklong event’s silly and sybaritic traditions. Now, in its 18th year, Art Basel (a catchall name for the scores of art and fashion events that surround the huge Swiss art fair and its museum-quality works every December) was, unbelievably, bigger and more upbeat than ever. At the InList party Thursday, for the private global event and concierge service, a heavily tech crowd chatted about the last few months seeking sanctuary in the open air of Mykonos while the fire dancer’s thigh-high silver boots kicked spray into the air and Whitney Houston dance remixes blared. (You may find all this shallow, but don’t dial anyone in the 305 area code this week, because you...
Writers attempt to write to entertain readers, give them a chuckle, pass along some information they can use, make them feel better about themselves. I apologize up front for this column. If you read it, you will find it to be sad, very sad. I know you won’t feel it as strongly as I do, but anyone who has ever had a dog – a loveable and best friend to the end – that shared a portion of their life with them will understand the pain I’ve been going through these past seven days. I wrote about Belle earlier this year. That was when she was lost in Silom Cemetery. I had let her out of the truck to explore as I sat and read the newspaper. When she didn’t return to the truck and my search did not find her, I was convinced someone driving through the cemetery had thought she was a stray and picked her up. But later she was discovered in the freshly-dug grave of Bill Vansickle’s beloved mother. She had gotten too close to the...
Brexit leader Nigel Farage has exclaimed “thank goodness we left” the European Union in response to reports that the head of the bloc, European Commission boss Ursula von der Leyen, saying mandatory vaccination should be considered, while countries like Greece are threatening to fine senior citizens for every month they go unvaccinated. “They have gone power mad in the EU, thank goodness we left,” Nigel Farage remarked while tweeting an opinion piece from The Telegraph laying bare the countries across the bloc that have instituted some form of Covid authoritarianism. On Thursday, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that it was “understandable and appropriate” to have a bloc-wide discussion about mandatory vaccination. “How we can encourage and potentially think about mandatory vaccination within the European Union, this needs discussion,” Commission President von der Leyen said. “This needs a common approach, but it is a discussion that I think has to be met.” The head of the EU’s powerful executive branch made the remarks after her former mentor, outgoing Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel, announced a de facto lockdown on...
Shortly after hearing the news that CNN suspended Chris Cuomo “indefinitely” for allegedly aiding his brother’s efforts to discredit his #MeToo accusers, former President Trump declared, “Fredo is gone!” “Great news for television viewers, they have just suspended Chris Cuomo indefinitely!” the former president triumphantly said. “The big question is, was it because of his horrendous ratings, which in all fairness have permeated CNN and MSDNC, or was it because his brother is no longer Governor? Probably both. In any event, Fredo is gone!” 45: Great news for TV viewers, they have just suspended Chris Cuomo indefinitely! Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images CNN suspended host Chris Cuomo “indefinitely” on Tuesday night and few people are happier about that development than former President Donald Trump. The move came one day after the New York attorney general’s office released transcripts of correspondence between Cuomo and members of his brother’s team, then-Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY), who was combatting sexual misconduct allegations at the time. In a statement, CNN said that “these documents point to a greater level of involvement in his brother’s efforts than we previously knew. As a result, we have suspended Chris indefinitely, pending further evaluation.” Trump issued a statement almost immediately after the news broke that Cuomo had been pulled from the air: Great news for television viewers, they have just suspended Chris Cuomo indefinitely! The big question is, was it because of his horrendous ratings, which in all fairness have permeated CNN and MSDNC, or was it because his brother is no longer Governor? Probably both. In any event, Fredo is gone! Trump’s reference to “Fredo” is a nod to a viral video of Cuomo confronting a heckler...

For four years, an annual chorus of unfounded criticism and aesthetic analysis beat like a drum over former First Lady Melania Trump’s Christmas decorations at the White House. Now, it’s First Lady Jill Biden’s turn but where have all the critics gone? Don’t worry, I’m still here and I should start by reminding loyal Fashion Notes readers that it was the haters who stereotyped Melania Trump as a stone-cold, joyless Eastern European who secretly hated the frills of Christmas. They did so by seizing on her winter white decor in the East Wing in 2017. The haters did it again a year later when Mrs. Trump unveiled beautiful red trees throughout the East Collonade of the White House. It should be noted that Mrs. Trump’s Christmas decorations from 2017 to 2020 were a triumph for beauty after nearly two decades of the traditional and modernist designs from former First Ladies Laura Bush and Michelle Obama. Christmas decorations are seen in the East Wing during a preview of holiday decorations at the White House in Washington, DC, November 27, 2017. (SAUL...

CONCORD, N.H. (CBS) – New Hampshire health officials announced Monday the state would be participating in a program offering residents free at-home COVID tests. But supply for the offer has already run out after “overwhelming response.” The at-home rapid and antigen tests were available in New Hampshire and Washington state through the “Say Yes! COVID Test” program. Tests will be shipped through Amazon directly to residents who were successfully able to sign up. But as of Tuesday, there are no tests available. “Thank you for your interest in Say Yes! COVID Test. We have had an overwhelming response to the initiative and have already exhausted the limited supply available for home delivery,” a message on the site says when a zip code is entered. Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker, meanwhile, said Monday he has been pushing the federal government to make at-home COVID testing more affordable and easily accessible.
"You also have a right to not support it," Hart concluded. "But the energy that’s put into wanting to change or end someone, it’s getting out of hand.” The newest protest against Chappelle originated from some students at the Duke Ellington School of the Arts, where the comedian went to high school. Students are protesting the school's plans to name a theater after Chappelle after he has donated and raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for his alma mater. Chappelle has responded to the controversy by challenging his critics to raise more money for the school than his supporters. He said that if they are successful he'll refuse to put his name on the theater. Everyone has a pet theory or two about what has gone wrong in America. And by America I of course mean the United States of, discounting the other 34 countries of the Americas — which speaks to our exceptional self-centeredness, which might in fact be seen as one of the overarching reasons why the country has gone to pot. Not only do we harbor a fervent belief that we have nothing to learn from others, we barely comprehend that they exist. With the Republican Party's platform morphing from obstruction to fascism (e.g., CPAC is planning a spring fling in authoritarian Hungary), citizens losing their minds over wearing masks and talking up anything but a safe and free vaccine in a deadly pandemic that has taken more American lives than were lost in our Civil War (in an era before doctors could do much more than use a saw), and school board members facing violent threats for supporting basic inclusion and diversity efforts in public schools — for many, the concept of American exceptionalism has been turned on its head....

"There may still be swings, but overall, I think the worst is over," Esben Poulsson, who chairs the International Chamber of Shipping, told CNBC's "Squawk Box Asia" on Tuesday. Poulsson explained that retailers had made a "significant level" of pre-orders, and that should help ease shortages of goods. In addition, new container ships are being built and will add to existing capacity in the next 24 to 36 months, he said. A five-year-old New Hampshire boy who was found dead a month after he went missing had fentanyl in his system and was the victim of violence and neglect, prosecutors said.  Elijah Lewis's remains were discovered in a Massachusetts state park on October 23, a week after his mother, Danielle Denise Dauphinais, 35, and her boyfriend Joseph Stapf, 30, were arrested in New York City in connection with the boy's disappearance.  Texts revealed last month by The Boston Globe showed Dauphinais allegedly complaining about Elijah to a childhood friend in June and calling him 'the next Ted Bundy and Jeffrey Dahmer.' Dauphinais, who lived in Merrimack, N.H., with the boy, reportedly told her friend that she couldn't 'trust him anymore' as a result of Elijah urinating over his bedding and clothes and playing with his own feces.  She also wrote to her friend: 'I want him gone. I can't handle it anymore,' according to the Globe.  Elijah Lewis, 5, death was ruled a homicide  after an autopsy by the chief medical examiner in Massachusetts The search for 5-year-old Elijah Lewis led investigators...
more   Live from Music Row Monday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. – host Leahy welcomed the original all-star panelist Crom Carmichael to the studio for another edition of Crom’s Commentary. Leahy: It’s time for today’s Crommentary. Carmichael: You know, Michael, you watched what’s gone on since the last time you and I were together, which wasn’t all that long ago that two big things have happened. One is the ridiculous budget that passed and the so-called build back better, which is nothing but built-in inflation and chaos which is a better term for it. And then also you had the Rittenhouse verdict and the response from the left for a verdict that seemed to me to be obvious when you looked at the facts. But that’s the key point. Democrats don’t anymore want to look at the facts. The institutional constraints in this country are just as far as the Democrats are concerned, completely gone. If you’ll recall when the judge put...

Whittier school teacher Buster Alexander was in a bit of a buyer’s bind. Her lease on a Mini Cooper was up and she wanted a new car. Instead of kicking tires and comparing models and prices at a leisurely pace, she found a feeding frenzy. Dealerships were packed with people like her looking at too few cars. After a fruitless search for a new Mini, she and her husband wound up at Norm Reeves in Cerritos. “They had a few Civics and literally one Accord,” she said. The sales rep said the Accord would likely be sold within the hour. “We literally had to stake a claim on it immediately — or walk away,” she said. Feeling “pressured” she bought the Accord. Alexander’s story is not unique in California. Visit a dealership in most cities and you’ll see the same thing: lots of empty spaces. Dealerships, in particular, have taken to parking available models sideways or in every other spot to make up for missing 2022 models. One of the lots at Selman Chevrolet has plenty of empty spots in Orange,...

The question of whether or not the Green Bay Packers could have signed Odell Beckham Jr seems to have finally been answered.  When Odell Beckham Jr hit free agency last week, among the list of teams he might end up with when the dust settled included the usual suspects. Patrick Mahomes and Chiefs, Russell Wilson and the Seahawks, and Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. None of those three tandems ended up landing OBJ, as he opted to sign with Matthew Stafford and the Rams. Beckham signing on the dotted line in Los Angeles hasn’t put an end to the raging debate in Green Bay about whether or not the Packers did all they could to bring in a potential final piece to its Super Bowl puzzle. Making matters worse was an incendiary report from Yahoo! Sports on Friday that blamed the Packers front office for lowballing Beckham. Taking that at face value, it’s an indictment  that plays into a narrative of ineptitude that has followed the Packers front office all season long. Instead, it points to a picture rather than...
