Lamar led 7-0 after the first quarter on a 5-yard TD run by Jaylon Jackson. Alan Karajic’s 21-yard field goal and Wiggins’ 18-yard TD run put the Gamecocks (5-5, 3-2) up 10-7 at halftime and started a 38-point run. Cooper took over from there with TD tosses to PJ Wells covering 29 yards, a 33-yarder to Ahmad Edwards and a 21-yarder to Jayson Jones. BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — Oregon State kicker Everett Hayes missed a 38-yard field goal in the second overtime after nailing a 60-yarder at the end of regulation and Cole Becker’s 43-yarder gave Colorado a 37-34 win over the Beavers on Saturday night. The homecoming crowd rushed the field when Becker’s field goal sailed high through the uprights. Colorado (3-6, 2-4 Pac-12) won for the first time in four multi-overtime games in program history and the Buffs denied bowl eligibility for Oregon State (5-4, 3-3), which hasn’t won six games since 2013. The teams exchanged touchdowns in the first overtime with Brendon Lewis scoring on a 9-yard quarterback keeper for Colorado and running back B.J. Baylor snaring a high direct snap with his left hand and trotting into the end zone. For the game to even go extra time required an incredible finish by the Beavers. Hayes missed a 51-yarder with 32 seconds remaining but the Beavers had all three of their timeouts and they forced Colorado to punt the ball, which Anthony Gould returned 26 yards to the Beavers 49...
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) — Tyrell Price rushed for 110 yards and Ailym Ford ran for 108 and the game’s only touchdown as Chattanooga defeated Furman 13-3 in Southern Conference play on Saturday. Ford’s TD came on Chattanooga’s first possession of the game, capping a seven-play, 75-yard drive with a 2-yard run. It was the only score of the first half. Furman pulled within 7-3 on a 24-yard field goal by Timmy Bleekrode with 5:54 remaining in the third quarter. The Mocs (5-3, 4-1) answered on the ensuing drive with freshman Aaron Sears’ 40-yard field goal for a 10-3 lead. Sears kicked a 38-yarder with 5:57 left in the game to finish the scoring. Cole Copeland completed 13 of 20 passes for 146 yards with one interception for Chattanooga. Price and Ford accounted for 218 of the Mocs’ 245 yards on the ground. Driggers staked the Lions (1-6, 1-2) to leads of 7-0 and 14-7 with short touchdowns runs before racing 99 yards to the end zone to make it a two-score lead. Jaxton Carson added a 4-yard TD run and Rett Files connected with E.J. Rogers for a 38-yard score as North Alabama took a 35-10 lead into halftime. Special teams were downright ugly Sunday. Mason Crosby and Evan McPherson missed five field goals in the fourth quarter and overtime before Crosby finally connected to give Green Bay a win over Cincinnati. Eight kickers combined to miss 11 extra points, increasing the total to 12 in Week 5 to tie the NFL record set in Week 11 of the 2016 season. Joseph also kicked a 55-yarder, one of nine field goals of at least 50 yards across the league on the day. Crosby redeemed himself on his fourth try with a 49-yarder to win it late in OT. CINCINNATI (AP) — Mason Crosby hit a 49-yard field goal in overtime after missing three straight attempts, lifting the Green Bay Packers to a wild 25-22 win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. The typically reliable Crosby missed potential winners with 2:12 and then 3 seconds left in regulation, and missed another attempt in overtime before finally winning it. Heading into the game he was 44 of 46 on field goal attempts since the start of the 2019 season. Crosby, who missed an extra-point earlier in the game and also made three field goals, came in having converted all six field-goal attempts and 11 PATs this year. The Bengals’ Evan McPherson also missed on shots that could have won the game, with 26 seconds left in regulation and again in overtime. The Bengals (3-2) tied the score late in the fourth period. Ja’Marr Chase made a nice catch on third-and-6 from the Packers 36 for 19 yards, and two plays later Joe Mixon bounced right for an 8-yard touchdown run. Burrow hit Tee Higgins in the back of the...
Matt Prater came up short and paid the price, not once but twice. His attempt to break his own record for longest field goal in NFL history — a 64-yarder in Denver's thin air eight years ago — backfired Sunday when a former teammate returned his missed 68-yard attempt in Jacksonville's heavy air a record-tying 109 yards for a touchdown on the last play of the first half. DETROIT (AP) — Justin Tucker set an NFL record with a 66-yard field goal, bouncing it through off the crossbar as time expired to lift the Baltimore Ravens to a 19-17 win over the Detroit Lions on Sunday. The kick topped the 64-yard field goal Matt Prater made for Denver against San Francisco on Dec. 8, 2013. Lamar Jackson threw a 36-yard pass to Sammy Watkins on fourth-and-19 to get the Ravens across midfield with 7 seconds left. The superstar quarterback spiked the ball and threw it away on the next two snaps. Then Tucker — who made a 61-yard kick to beat the Lions in Baltimore’s previous visit to Detroit eight years ago — came out and made the record-breaking attempt. Baltimore (2-1) went into the fourth quarter with a 16-7 lead and ended up trailing in the final minute. Baltimore Ravens Kicker Justin Tucker broke the NFL record for longest Field Goal ever made in the most dramatic fashion possible Sunday. As time expired and down one point against the host Detroit Lions, the Ravens lined up on SIXTY-SIX yards away from the uprights. As the clock ticked to zero, Tucker’s kick hit the CROSSBAR of the uprights and bounced up and over the net for the Ravens win and Lion’s heartbreaking loss. Tucker’s 66 yarder breaks the previous record held by Denver Broncos kicker Matt Prater who kicked a 64-yard field goal at Denver’s Mile High Stadium, where many believe the high altitude helps the ball carry further. The previous record was a 63 yarder held by New Orleans Saints kicker Tom Dempsey. Watch above via CBS Sports. Have a tip we should know? tips@mediaite.com

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) — Joseph Bulovas connected a 38-yard field goal with 19 seconds remaining, Ken Seals accounted for three scores and Vanderbilt beat Colorado State 24-21 on Saturday night to snap an 11-game losing streak. Seals drove the Commodores into field-goal range courtesy of a pass-interference penalty and a targeting call. Bulovas jumped up in excitement after making the kick, hugging his holder. His teammates soon joined in once the final horn sounded. Seals threw two TD passes and ran in another for the Commodores (1-1), who earned their first win under new coach Clark Lea. It was Vanderbilt’s first victory since knocking off East Tennessee State 38-0 on Nov. 23, 2019. The Commodores were coming off a loss to ETSU, an FCS team, last week. Seals’ short TD run in the third quarter gave the Commodores a 21-14 lead, but the Rams tied it with 3:07 remaining when Todd Centeio found a wide open Trey McBride on fourth-and-goal at the 3. By Michael Hurley, CBS Boston BOSTON (CBS) — It’s been a focal point on the Patriots all summer long. A battle for a roster spot at a position where only one man can start. READ MORE: Bill Belichick Doesnt Offer Much Of An Update On Stephon Gilmores Injury, Contract Situation We’re talking, of course, about the kicker. (Were you thinking of something else?) The kicking duties this summer have largely fallen on the shoulder of undrafted rookie Quinn Nordin, as the veteran Nick Folk has mostly been a spectator due to what he deemed as “a little bit of soreness.” Nordin impressed in his debut, going 3-for-3 on field goals (including a 50-yarder) and going 1-for-2 on PATs. But his follow-up performance in Philly was a bit of a nightmare, with the rookie missing three kicks — two PATs and a chip shot field goal. On Sunday night in the preseason finale, Folk got his...

Former Alabama coach Gene Stallings had a piece of advice for Nick Saban after last year’s Iron Bowl: Get a great kicker. Perhaps Saban already had one. Sophomore Will Reichard, who was out with a nagging hip injury for the 2019 Auburn game, has been perfect so far this season. That’s a huge deal for the top-ranked Crimson Tide heading into Saturday’s game against the 22nd-ranked Tigers after some infamous past kicking woes in the Iron Bowl and other big games. Kickers have been an Achilles Heel for some of Saban’s Alabama teams, which were typically loaded on offense and defense. “Last year, after the Auburn game, I called Coach Stallings to see how he was doing,” Saban said recently on his weekly radio show. “He said, ‘If I was you, I’d go recruit the best kicker in the country.’ “I said, ‘We’ve got the best kicker in the country. He’s just hurt.’” Auburn has a pretty good kicker too in junior Anders Carlson. So both teams seem to be in good hands, or feet, this time around. Reichard,...

Pratt threw two scores to Duece Watts of 35 and 5 yards, and a 5-yarder to Tyrick James, to help Tulane to a 21-7 lead at halftime. Carroll’s 48-yard scoring run with 5:49 left in the third quarter made it a 28-7 advantage. Carroll added a 28-yard TD run with 5:17 left to play for a 38-15 lead. By BARRY WILNER, AP Pro Football Writer EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Lackluster for much of the game, Tom Brady did what he does best in the second half Monday night. Evans’ diving 8-yard catch provided the go-ahead points. “We obviously didn’t play the way we’re capable of, but it was good to get a win,” Brady said. ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Brandon McManus and his powerful right leg were benched for the New England game — in quite a few fantasy football leagues, anyway. The Denver Broncos kicker took notice, too. McManus couldn’t resist a playful jab on Twitter after his franchise-best, six field-goal performance against the Patriots: “95.5% of fantasy didn’t play me. Shout out to the 4.5% who ride or die with me.” From about midfield in, the Broncos (2-3) certainly have total confidence in “ McMoney” McManus, which he was jokingly called after recently inking a new deal. The reliable McManus has become a safety net for an injury-riddled offense that’s trying to get on track with QB Drew Lock back at the helm. “He definitely allows us to take a deep breath,” said Lock, who returned from a sprained right shoulder in the 18-12 win over the Patriots on Sunday. ”(We) can call what we feel like and call what we want. That was kind of the game plan.” For McManus, his big day at New England was a years-in-the-making chance at...
The Tennessee Titans know good teams win ugly games, and being 2-0 for the first time in 12 years has a way of making any victory look much prettier. Stephen Gostkowski kicked a 49-yard field goal with 1:36 left, and the Tennessee Titans remain undefeated after holding off the Jacksonville Jaguars 33-30 Sunday. “To get a chance to win at the end of the game, that’s what you practice for,” said Gostkowski, who kicked his second straight game-winner after struggling in the opener. “Luckily we were able to come through today. It’s exciting to get the win and get the Titans to 2-0.” CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM Quarterback Ryan Tannehill said Gostkowski came up huge for the Titans on something that wasn't a chip shot. “t was a tough kick in a crucial point in the game and had nothing but confidence he was going to bang it through, and that's exactly what he did," Tannehill said. Jeffery Simmons batted a pass by Gardner Minshew, and Harold Landry III grabbed the ball out of the air with 47...
By TERESA M. WALKER, AP Pro Football Writer NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Stephen Gostkowski kicked a 49-yard field goal with 1:36 left, and the Tennessee Titans remain undefeated after holding off the Jacksonville Jaguars 33-30 Sunday. Gostkowski, who hit the left upright on an extra point, also made a 51-yarder at the end of the first half after an ugly performance in the opener. Jeffery Simmons batted a pass by Gardner Minshew, and Harold Landry III grabbed the ball out of the air with 47 seconds left to seal the victory. This is the Titans' first 2-0 start since 2008, the most recent season this franchise won the AFC South. They also won their seventh straight against divisional rival Jacksonville in Nashville after nearly blowing a 24-10 halftime lead. Ryan Tannehill threw for 239 yards and four touchdowns. The Titans sacked Minshew twice and picked him off twice. Minshew finished throwing for 339 yards and three TDs, his final two coming in the fourth quarter as he tried to rally the Jaguars (1-1).
