Sugar is bad news for health — on this most would agree. But when it comes to fat, there has been real and sometimes acrimonious debate. For decades we have been warned that eating too much dairy such as milk, butter and cheese could raise our risk of serious conditions such as heart disease and strokes — only for more recent studies to suggest they might actually protect us from these by lowering our risk of developing high blood pressure or type 2 diabetes. So where does the truth lie — and why can’t the scientists agree? The key reason dairy products are considered bad for us is their high saturated fat content. Although our bodies need fats for energy, growth and to absorb fat-soluble nutrients such as vitamins A, D and E, eating too much saturated fat, in particular, can raise levels of so-called ‘bad’ cholesterol in our blood.  This can clog arteries, which in turn leads to health problems such as high blood pressure, heart disease and strokes. For decades we have been warned that eating too much dairy...

By Jill Lawless | Associated Press Welcome back, Mr. Bond. This is your most important mission yet. The fate of the movie business depends on your success. That’s how it feels, anyway, so high are industry expectations around “No Time to Die.” The 25th James Bond adventure is finally hitting screens a year and a half after its originally scheduled April 2020 release date, and is central to Hollywood’s hopes of luring pandemic-weary audiences back into movie theaters. Moviegoers certainly get a lot of Bond for their buck in Daniel Craig’s fifth and final adventure as the suave but by now battered secret agent. At 2 hours, 43 minutes, it’s the series’ longest film yet. Big, brash, explosive and occasionally even tender, the movie nods fondly to the spy series’ past while moving — somewhat — into a more diverse, less male-dominated and Eurocentric era. And it definitely provides a respite from weary reality. The coronavirus does not trouble James Bond’s world in “No Time to Die.” Much else does, though, from terrifying bioweapons to family legacies of violence. Directed...

United States Ryder Cup captain Steve Stricker does not expect Tiger Woods to make an appearance at Whistling Straits this week as he continues his recovery from a car crash in February. Legendary golfer Woods has been a focal point of USA teams during the competition in years gone by but is not in the right state to be with the group during his rehabilitation from the accident, which saw the 15-major champion lifted out of the wreck by firefighters. He had been travelling at 84-87mph - double the 45mph speed limit - with his car flipping several times, and while Stricker says he is in constant communication with Woods, he poured scorn on suggestions he could be involved.  Tiger Woods will not be part of the USA's Ryder Cup team, confirms captain Steve Stricker RELATED ARTICLES Previous 1 Next Viktor Hovland taught himself how to play golf online and is... If Taryn Manning furiously scrubbing off the colorfully chalked out Black Lives Matter street art at the top of the ham-fisted horror-adjacent comedy Karen doesn’t give off enough evil white woman wrongdoer vibes, then the tousled, slightly askew bob with the lace sitting atop this Karen’s saltine scalp is a dead giveaway. Let’s go ahead and get this out of the way: In no way, shape or form is Karen a “good” movie. It suffers from the same didactic dialogue disease as the social (media) horrors that came before it—the most recent, disappointing example being Candyman. The wigs and skin are dry, the script is as boneless as a chicken nugget, and it falls into the trap of positioning its villain as an exceptionally shitty specimen among well-meaning whites and other non-Black people, when in reality, Karen syndrome is as common as a cloud. Karen doesn’t try anything new, nor does it provide any level of introspection or perspective on race, class, gender, or sexuality that you can’t get from thumbing down a timeline. It’s easy to call every beat,...

The Green Bay Quarterback is about to start another season, which keeps him mainly in Wisconsin. His fiancée, though, will be working on her own projects, keeping her away from Aaron. Interestingly, Aaron thinks the distance will be "a good thing." © Jeffrey Phelps/AP/Shutterstock Aaron Rodgers "It's a busy work time for her, so [my decision] probably came at a good time for both of us to be able to focus on our work," Aaron told Haute Living. The decision he's referring to is his choice to return to the Packers rather than retire, sit out a season or force a trade — all three of which were very much on the table over the summer.  "I think it's going to be a good thing. HONOLULU — Hawaii’s governor asked Monday that visitors and residents reduce travel to the islands to essential business only while the state struggles to control COVID-19 as the highly contagious delta variant spreads in the community. Gov. David Ige wants to curtail travel to Hawaii through the end of October. “It is a risky time to be traveling right now,” he said. He said restaurant capacity has been restricted and there’s limited access to rental cars. Ige stopped short of a mandate, saying it’s a different time now than last year when strict travel rules that required quarantining essentially shut down Hawaii’s tourism industry. “Last year in March, when I first asked for visitors to postpone travel to the islands, we saw a 60% reduction in the traffic to Hawaii” Ige said. “And then certainly, ordering the mandatory quarantine of all incoming visitors reduced travel to the islands by 99.5%, essentially 100% of travelers.” Things are different now with vaccines available and guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention saying fully vaccinated people can travel domestically. Ige said...

Norway's beach handball team have said there is 'no good reason' why they have to wear a bikini to compete after they were fined for ditching skimpy bottoms for non-regulation shorts earlier this week.  Players Tonya Lurstaad and Julia Bird appeared on Lorraine earlier today, telling guest host Ranvir Singh they had wanted to swap the skimpy outfit for a uniform more similar to the men's shorts and t-shirts 'for a long time' and adding: 'We wanted to make a statement and change the regulation.'  Earlier this week, the Scandinavians wore shorts instead of the bikini required by the International Handball Federation's (IHF) rules in their bronze medal match against Spain at the European Beach Handball Championship in Varna, Bulgaria. The Disciplinary Committee of the European Handball Federation (EHF) on Monday fined the team 1,500 euros (£1,300), or 150 euros (£130) per player.  Norway's beach handball team have revealed they 'feel overwhelmed by support' after refusing to wear bikini bottoms and competing in non-regulation shorts instead this week (pictured) Speaking on the programme today, Tonya explained: 'For our federation, there...
If you’ve always been curious about the “Neverwinter” MMO but were too intimidated to try it, then this summer may be the perfect time to pick up the free-to-play game. That’s when Perfect World Entertainment is releasing its next major module, which caps off a major revamp and introduces the first new class in the game since 2015. “Neverwinter: Jewel of the North” can be seen as a fresh start as it reimagines how the massively multiplayer online game introduces players to its corner of Forgotten Realms. Previously, the game had a level 80 cap and the epic level content was locked behind dozens of hours of gameplay. With the recent update, the developer, Cryptic Studios, shortens that grind considerably. Aligning it more with the 5th Edition Dungeons & Dragons experience, the team set the level cap at 20 and it now takes 10 to 12 hours to reach that mark. From there, progress is based on gear while Cryptic said it’s leaning toward using a milestone progression system instead of straight XP. Because of the progression change, the studio...

Former President Donald Trump had a shocking moment of honesty in the middle of his speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) on Sunday, telling the audience that he was waiting for the straw poll results (a regular part of the CPAC events for years), and if the poll was bad for him, he would call it “fake,” but if it was good, then he’d say it was “the most accurate poll, perhaps ever.” Trump’s speech to a supportive crowd in Dallas, Texas lasted about an hour and a half, and the regular cheers and applause seemed to indicate that he was in very friendly territory. In the 2020 election, Trump won Texas 52.06% to President Joe Biden’s 46.48%. “By the way, you have a poll coming out,” Trump said about halfway through his remarks. “I want to know what it is. You know they do that straw poll, right?” “Now, if it’s bad, I just say it’s fake,” Trump continued, as the crowd laughed. “If it’s good, I say that’s the most accurate poll, perhaps ever.” Trump commented, apparently to CPAC chairman Matt Schlapp,...

THE secret to staying young is having regular sex. I believe that along with keeping your mind and body in shape, it’s important to stay sexually active. I guess if you commute by helicopter you don't have to care. New York Democratic Rep. Thomas Suozzi has an idea. It's just the beginnings of the idea, but it's an idea. Given how extraordinarily well America's wealthiest people did during a global pandemic while the American government tried (well, while a Democratic administration tried, anyway) to keep their captured consumer base alive and kicking, what if most wealthy people in America got a one-time tax bill to help pay for their nation's survival? Maybe? Lil' bit? The core principle is called a wealth tax, and it's been proposed by numerous Democrats and analysts as a way to even the playing field and scrape back some of the taxes that wealthy Americans have learned to routinely hide from public coffers through now bog-standard tax evasion schemes. A "wealth tax" is different from an income tax. The United States generally taxes income, or money earned each year. A wealth tax would be a tax based on total fortune, "earned" or not. Congress and previous administrations have so weakened tax laws in...
A Portland commissioner who has led efforts to defund the police - despite calling the cops on a Lyft driver last year - has branded the Oregon city's 50-person riot squad that resigned in protest this week a 'rogue paramilitary organization' and called for the team to be formally disbanded. City Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty gloated in a statement on Thursday that the- resignations are a sign that 'the good old boy network is crumbling and we can either be a part of the change or part of the status quo – but the arc of justice is bending quickly and it’s imperative that the Portland City Council lands on the right side of history.' All the members of the Portland Police Department's Rapid Response Team, who are tasked with crowd control amid the city's ongoing, often violent protests, abruptly quit on Wednesday in solidarity with a colleague who was indicted on criminal charges for striking a photographer who was dubbed a protester. Hardesty, who proposed doing away with the crowd-control unit last fall, said her statement that the en masse...

YOUR credit score is important when you apply for a credit card, mortgage or loan. Sometimes called a credit rating, the score determines your creditworthiness to lenders. 1Your credit score is important when you apply for a credit card, mortgage or loanCredit: Getty If your score is low, banks may refuse to lend you cash - or you'll be given a worse rate or deal than is advertised. But what's considered a good score and how can you build yours? We explain all you need to know. What is a good credit score? FICO, the most widely known credit scoring system, and its rival VantageScore both use a range of 300-850 points. The higher your credit score is, the better chance you have of getting the best deals. A good FICO score sits between 670 and 739, while 740-799 is considered very good and anything above 800 is excellent, according to its website. If your credit score is below 580, you're considered a risky borrower. Meanwhile, VantageScore considers a score between 661 and 780 to be good. Scores above 780...
Granholm: Normal service at gas pump likely by late Sunday Liz Cheney says some GOP members voted against impeachment out of fear for their lives Timothy Weah essentially left Paris Saint-Germain because they were too successful.  The U.S. men's national team attacker spent five years at the Parc des Princes, rising through the capital club's academy right up to the first team. However, once there, he understandably found minutes somewhat hard to come by at a club that features attacking megastars like Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Angel Di Maria. And so, at the age of 19, Weah swapped the glitz and glamour of PSG for more modest goals at Lille. He took a step backwards in order to take his career forward, and now that bold move is belatedly paying off. Indeed, as it turns out, Weah's hopes of lifting the Ligue 1 trophy didn't really end when he left Paris. (CNN)The best thing about President Joe Biden is that he's old. And that means he can remember a time before -- and not just before the rightward swing of former President Donald Trump or even the centrism of former Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama. He remembers a time before small-government proponent former President Ronald Reagan, when Democrats stood before the country and said unabashedly that a big and bold government was exactly what the country needed. And that makes Biden an old fashioned New Deal liberal in all of the best ways. Meg JacobsThe number of times that Biden said "jobs" on Wednesday night -- over 40 -- was almost worthy of parody. But in some ways, it was as if he was making up for what's been missing in government for decades. Americans, particularly in the wake of the pandemic, suffered significant job loss. And Biden fully believes that job creation is one of the most basic functions of government. He also believe green jobs can be a part of the solution. The Green New Deal has appeal...

Dear Quentin, My mother is dying of cancer, and doesn’t have much longer to live. I was told by her current husband that they sought counsel to establish a will, and all of her assets are going to myself, and my two brothers. 1. When is it a good time to ask about her will? 2. To whom should I speak to regarding her will? 3. Do I ask about it now or wait until she passes? Reuters April 13, 2021 0 Comments U.S. infectious disease official Anthony Fauci said AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine had good efficacy, but safety concerns needed to be straightened out and it might not be needed for Americans because of supplies of other shots. “I think that the AstraZeneca vaccine from a standpoint of efficacy is a good vaccine, and if the safety issue gets straightened out in the European Union … the efficacy of that vaccine is really quite good,” he told BBC radio on Tuesday. “Whether or not we ever use AZ is unclear but it looks right now at this point in time that we will not need it. It’s not a negative indictment of AZ, it is just possible that given the supply that we have from other companies that we may not need to use an AZ vaccine.” As the United States loosens its COVID-19 restrictions, Fauci also said there was a “really risky situation” when bars and restaurants were reopening in some places where the use of masks was not being enforced. It’s not going to be used against many of the legendary ones you can find, and you probably won’t be using it in any raids outside of select three-star encounters. It has a low maximum CP, but because of it, it’s an ideal Pokémon to consider using in the Great League. What makes Diggersby so good? It’s a combination of its stats, moveset, and the type of Pokémon it is. © Provided by GamePur Diggersby is a Normal and Ground-type Pokémon. It’s weak to Fighting, Grass, Ice, and Water-type attacks, but it’s resistant against Electric, Ghost, Poison, and Rock-type moves.
