The parallels between me and Kyle Rittenhouse are impossible not to draw. Kyle was 17-years-old when he became a household name after that terrible tragedy in Kenosha. I was 16-years-old when I was catapulted into the national conversation by video of an encounter with a Native American activist on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. Kyle was almost immediately labelled a 'white supremacist' and a 'domestic terrorist'. To many, my red MAGA hat clearly meant that I was a racist. (Left) Nicholas Sandmann is pictured facing a Native American activist at the Lincoln Memorial in January 2019. (Right) Kyle Rittenhouse is seen in Kenosha on the night he killed two men and injured a third in August 2020 'From my own experience, the death threats, feeling of no future ahead, and that millions of people hate you, is enough to alter you in many concrete ways and permanently' In only hours a CNN host tweeted an image of me, writing: 'Honest question. Have you ever seen a more punchable face than this kid's?'. Kyle wasn't given his day in court by...
Donald Trump said the GOP's surprise Virginial gubernatorial win was due to the Democrats' obsession with him during their campaign.    The former president said Democratic candidate Terry McAuliffe and his allies focused too much on him and not Youngkin, who Trump called a 'very good candidate.'  'If you look at what happened in Virginia, it's very interesting. They used my name — the Democrats — so much that they ended up losing,' Trump told Fox News's website. 'One of the reasons [McAuliffe] lost is because he kept saying Trump, Trump, Trump.' He also claimed that MAGA voters swept the polls because they liked Youngkin's education policy, which has been highlighted through the protests at the Loudoun County Public School District against the teaching of critical race theory. 'The people of Virginia are angry, and the reason we won that state — number one — we had a good candidate and a nice guy and somebody who was really, very gracious, but you also had the MAGA voters come out in force because they're tired of it, and they voted, and...
Fox & Friends defended comedian Dave Chappelle Tuesday morning after the comedian released a video in which he called out the various forces that are ostensibly trying to “cancel” his career. Some may be surprised to learn that a Fox News opinion show would defend Chappelle from his critics. Still, this sort of story is right in line with the dangers of “cancel culture” that has been fueling programming decisions at the conservative network for years. Brian Kilmeade best summed up his take at the top of the segment when he said, “they came for conservatives, and they are getting comedians,” though it’s not clear who “they” is. (Somewhere, the grandchildren of Martin Niemöller are privately wincing.) At issue is the criticism Chappelle received for numerous jokes about transgender people in his Netflix special The Closer, in which he said he’s on “Team TERF.” TERF is a term for “trans-exclusionary radical feminist” groups.  The most notable backlash came from Netflix itself, culminating in trans employees and allies staging a walkout in protest last week. The comedian posted a video on...
Hoda Kotb has opened up about how she talks to her young daughters about adoption, saying they understand that they came from her 'heart' not her 'tummy.'   The Today co-anchor, 57, shared what she tells her daughters Haley Joy, four, and Hope Catherine, two, about being adopted during a discussion about parenthood on People's new podcast 'Me Becoming Mom.'  'I tell them they were adopted, and I'm not sure if they 100 percent know what that means,' said Hoda, who is raising her children with her financier fiancé Joel Schiffman.   Candid: Hoda Kotb, 57, opened up about telling her daughters Haley, four, and Hope, two, they're adopted during her appearance on People's new podcast 'Me Becoming Mom' Honest: The Today co-anchor explained that she 'tells them they were adopted,' but she isn't sure they '100 percent know what that means' 'I always say, "You didn't come from Mommy's tummy, you came from my heart." (CNN)Vincent Chin was celebrating his bachelor party at the Fancy Pants strip club in Detroit when he and another patron got into a fight."It's because of you little motherf****** that we're out of work," a White autoworker named Ronald Ebens yelled at the 27-year-old Chinese American, as a dancer who worked there later recalled. The year was 1982, and Detroit -- then the automotive capital of the world -- was at the worst point of an economic downturn. Competition from Japan was cutting into the profits of US automakers, driving them to rely more heavily on automation and lay off hundreds of thousands of people across Michigan -- including Ebens' stepson Michael Nitz. And Japanese Americans -- or anyone mistaken for them -- became scapegoats. With Chin on one side and Ebens and Nitz on the other, the brawl escalated. After the group was kicked out of the club, the fight continued and Ebens and Nitz eventually chased Chin down outside of a nearby McDonald's. With the help of Nitz, Ebens beat him over the head with a baseball bat again and...
JOE Biden has claimed his "first job offer" came from an Idaho lumber business – but the company says they have "no record" of that. The president, 78, said he used to speak with his late Senate colleague Frank Church, who was from the state, about the role. 2Joe Biden has claimed his 'first job offer' came from an Idaho lumber business – but the company says they have 'no record' of thatCredit: AP Biden - speaking at the National Interagency Fire Center on Monday- said: "I used to tell Frank Church this. LOS ANGELES (AP) — Adult film actor Ron Jeremy leveraged the novelty of his celebrity to meet and often isolate women whom he raped and sexually assaulted, using the same tactics for years, according to grand jury testimony from 21 women that was unsealed Saturday. “Wouldn’t it be funny if we got a picture and an autograph from him?” one woman, identified only as Jane Doe 8, said she remembered telling her friend when they saw Jeremy in 2013 at a West Hollywood bar and grill. He would sexually assault her minutes later, testified the woman, one of several who said their attacks came in the same small bathroom. “I was like, wow, you know, this is Ron Jeremy, I mean, I was kind of impressed. I’m like he’s — I don’t want to say ‘celebrity,’ but you know, he kind of was,” said another woman, Jane Doe 7, when Jeremy came to the door of the Hollywood hotel room she was sharing with friends, where the porn actor would rape her soon after, according to her testimony. Amid the ruins of Bucharest in Romania, a group of partisans gathered in secret — a battle-hardened, sinewy crew who had made a daring escape through sewers from the Vilna Ghetto in Vilnius, Lithuania, then spent two years attacking German forces from the forests of Eastern Europe. This would be a Passover celebration like no other. The audacious plan they hatched that night would stay secret for decades. They would call themselves the Nokmim, Hebrew for 'Avengers'.  Taking inspiration from Psalm 94 — 'He will repay them for their iniquity and wipe them out for their wickedness' — these young men and women, most in their early 20s, vowed revenge on their enemies. Their goal was to kill six million Germans, one for every Jew who had perished in the horror of the concentration camps. 'The idea was to cause mass murder of men, women and children. Everyone. Like a biblical plague,' said one later.  The group's weapon of choice would be mass poisoning, first of the water supply serving thousands of German civilians, followed by contamination of food for...

With a lot of money Dulce María was convinced to join the RBD reunion. She who did not participate in the concert where the group was reunited has finally loosened the coveted ‘yes, I accept’! ”, Wrote Kaffie. Although it was not detailed the hefty amount they would have offered to the also actress, Kaffie said that the big announcement will be given soon. “The announcement of his hiring will be made in the next few days,” he concluded. In the last presentation that the group made, not everyone participated, since we could only appreciate Maite, Anahí, Christian...
ALBANY, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) – It’s the first day of a new era in state politics. CBS2’s Jessica Layton has been talking to legislative staffers from both parties Tuesday, and a couple of them mentioned the feeling of having to walk on egg shells the past 11 years. When they woke up this morning to a new governor, it was a breath of fresh air. NEVADA COUNTY (CBS13)  –  One woman in Nevada County came dangerously close to losing everything in the River Fire.  Now she wants everyone to know who’s responsible for stopping the flames in their tracks. Pam Savage couldn’t do a thing as the flames of the River Fire raced towards her home.  Firefighters shared a video with her showing how close she came to losing everything. READ MORE: Colfax Residents On The Lookout For Spot Fires As They Return, Hoping Their Homes Are Spared “It came right up to the edge of my driveway,” she told CBS13. Pam has lived in Nevada County just west of Colfax for more than a decade, but she’s never lived through anything like this. The blaze destroyed nearly 100 structures and more than 60 of them homes.  Some of the homes destroyed belonged to Pam’s neighbors.  She says she doesn’t expect to live in the home much longer, considering her age and how much it takes to care for a home in such a rural area.  Still, after seeing all of the loss and devastation,...
Since historic protests against police violence in America broke out in force last May, police unions across the country have come under renewed and sometimes scathing scrutiny. After all, they have long been reliable defenders of cops who shoot and kill unarmed people, and their leaders have a penchant for slamming police critics, whether lawmakers and celebrities who advocate for controversial policies like “defunding the police,” or rank and file protesters. Given this track record, Michael Fanone, one of the many cops who fended off rioters at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, said he expected the largest police union in the country, the Fraternal Order of Police, to come out strongly in defense of him and fellow officers. The cops who stared down violent pro-Trump mobs that day have not only had to deal with their own physical and emotional injuries, but also endure criticism from Republican lawmakers, hostile civilians, and even efforts by the former president to downplay the seriousness of the January riot. But in an interview on CNN Wednesday, Fanone—fresh off from testifying to Congress on...
The pair were watching the violent horror flick, "The Forever Purge," at a 9:30 p.m. showing at a Regal Cinemas movie theater in Corona when they were attacked, KCAL-TV reported. The movie is the fifth installment in the "Purge" series, a collection of dystopian horror films centering on the premise that in the future, America will hold an annual national holiday known as The Purge, in which all crime — including murder — is legalized for a 12-hour period. Law enforcement have not reported any leads or suspects and the incident remains a complete mystery. Barajas and Goodrich were reportedly found by a cleaning crew at the theater who came in to sweep the area following the movie. "At some point, the employee or employees walk inside the theater to conduct their clean-up or walk through and that's when the 911 call was placed," Corona Police Department Cpl. Tobias Kouroubacalis said. "[They said] that there was an unknown problem, somebody was bleeding, there wasn't very specific information given. "We don't have any suspect information right now," Kouroubacalis added. "We...

Former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D), running again for Virginia governor, once called for the United States to “shut these borders down” and to deport illegal aliens “taking our jobs” back to “the countries they came from.” In an interview with Southern California public radio station KPCC on January 30, 2007, which Breitbart News has obtained, McAuliffe denounced illegal immigration, demanding U.S. borders be shut down to prevent illegal aliens from taking American jobs. McAuliffe said: We got to shut these borders down, absolutely. These people shouldn’t be coming in this country. We need to enforce our border protections … for the people who have not been here, who have been here illegally, and who have taken advantage of the situation, we need to have a plan to get them back to the countries they came from. [Emphasis added] But more importantly … we got to shut these borders down … I don’t care if you are Democrat or Republican, we all agree you got to shut the borders down. People coming into our nation, taking our jobs … first...
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Gov. Andrew Cuomo plans to build a monument in Battery Park City, honoring the coronavirus pandemic’s essential workers. But, as CBS2’s Andrea Grymes reported Monday, the project is facing growing criticism. On what was a hot summer day, parkgoers looked like they were simply enjoying Rockefeller Park. But by sitting in the shadow of construction equipment and orange fencing, they were actually taking a stand against the governor’s latest pet project. “If you care about something, you gotta stand up for what’s right and what’s in your heart,” Battery Park City resident Anna Lala said. Upset residents came out early and peacefully protested to stop work they heard was supposed to start Monday. READ MORE: Gov. (CNN)Carl Nassib's coming out was casual, matter-of-fact and, evidenced by the ebullient smile he wore throughout the video in which he disclosed his sexuality, a release he'd long waited for. The laid-back nature of his announcement belies how exceedingly rare it was for Nassib to come out at all. The Las Vegas Raiders defensive end is now just one of two openly gay active players in the history of the four biggest North American sports leagues (the National Football League, National Basketball Association, Major League Baseball and the National Hockey League). He joins Jason Collins, an NBA veteran who came out in 2013 and retired after the following season. Those leagues have, combined, had nearly four centuries between them and tens of thousands of players. And of all the men who've ever swung a bat, smacked a puck, dodged a tackler or sunk a basket, only a handful have ever come out, typically after they've retired. Carl Nassib is the first active NFL player to come out -- and just the second openly gay active player in the NFL, MLB,...
(CNN)Lauren Nichols' battle with Covid-19 began early in the pandemic, when resources were scarce and experts debated whether the US would have to ration care. It was a burden she felt personally as she worried about what a trip to the doctor could mean for someone else. "The guilt came on very quickly. I felt like if I were to go get help for myself because I was still having worsening symptoms and wasn't getting better, that I was robbing someone else of their ability to get care," Nichols, 33, said. "And for me, that ended up developing further into me feeling like why am I even alive." Over the next year, Nichols' fight with the lingering symptoms known as "long Covid" meant more doctor visits. And with it, even more guilt. It's a symptom that mental health experts refer to as survivor's guilt -- when someone feels guilty for having survived a traumatic incident that others did not. They may wonder what they could have done differently, or feel helpless and ruminate over their decisions. And it may be...

Former economic council director Larry Kudlow has called for an investigation into the leak of a trove of Internal Revenue Service documents which showed some of America's richest residents paid zero federal income tax some years.  Kudlow, who served as treasury secretary under President Donald Trump, made the demand on Wednesday after ProPublica, which published a bombshell report on the documents, revealed it was in the dark about the source of the information.   The news non-profit's CEOs Stephen Engelberg and Richard Tofel said in an accompanying article: 'We do not know the identity of our source. We have considered the possibility that information we have received could have come from a state actor hostile to American interests.' Kudlow suggested the leaker could have corrupt motives and called it 'a little more than coincidental' that ProPublica released its report so close to announcements by Democrats and President Joe Biden about efforts to bolster IRS funding and raise taxes on the rich.  'Tax records are supposed to be confidential, but the muckraking group ProPublica, it's kind of left-of-center, they just happened to...
At least four State Department employees said in separate interviews that they repeatedly were 'warned' that an investigation into a possible COVID-19 leak from the Wuhan lab would 'open Pandora's Box;' and reveal that the U.S. funded gain-of-function research there.  It 'smelled like a cover-up,' Thomas DiNanno told Vanity Fair.  DiNanno, the former acting assistant secretary of the State Department's Bureau of Arms Control, Verification and Compliance, was one of four State Department officials who told Vanity Fair they wanted to investigate the possibility that COVID-19 spread after it escaped from the Wuhan lab.  The others were David Asher, David Feith and Miles Yu.  But they were muzzled by other State Department officials as well as the Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation and even 'ostracized,' Yu told Vanity Fair. The lab leak was touted by then-President Donald Trump and other right-wing leaders, but was deemed impossible by a 'scientific consensus' in a letter signed by 27 scientists, published on February 19, 2020 in the medical journal The Lancet.   After that, the Wuhan lab theory was considered to be at best a conspiracy...

Former President Barack Obama disclosed in a Tuesday interview that federal officials don’t “exactly” know the origin of unidentified flying objects at the center of public speculation. “The truth is that when I came into office, I asked,” Obama said in the interview with The Late Late Show’s James Corden. “I was like, ‘All right, is there the lab somewhere where we’re keeping the alien specimens and spaceships?’ They did a little bit of research …. and the answer was, ‘No.'” He said he possessed some classified information about UFOs, but also claimed the federal government was in the dark when it came to key details. “When it comes to aliens, there are some things I just can’t tell you on air,” Obama said. “What is true — and I’m actually being serious here — is that there’s footage and records of objects in the skies that we don’t know exactly what they are. We can’t explain how they moved, their trajectory  — they did not have an easily explainable pattern.” The issue has been in the news this week...

Mexican officials didn’t have a plan to provide federal assistance to migrants expelled from the U.S. and instead contracted already overwhelmed private companies and charity organizations, according to the LA Times. Mexican shelters are operating at reduced capacity in response to COVID-19, while groups providing food and medical services struggle to meet the migrant’s needs. “I heard people could stay in America if we came with our children,” Juana Cruz Funez, 40, said after U.S. border officials expelled her and her 8-year-old daughter Itzy to Reynosa, Mexico, the LA Times reported. Hmm. Looks like this one has traces of giant panda. Put it in the "don't count this one" pile. The Arizona Republican "recount" of Dear Orange Leader's presidential election loss continues, and continues to be the Fyre Festival of fascist conspiracy peddling. It is the “Springtime for Hitler” of election audits. No matter how bad you think at can be, it somehow manages to be inspirationally worse. To review, the Republican-controlled Arizona Senate ordered a bizarre private audit of the state's 2020 presidential election results after a large chunk of the Republican rank-and-file and party officials both simply refused to believe that an unpopular twice-impeached incompetent blowhard responsible for a half-million pandemic deaths could possibly be rejected by the American electorate, so there must have been "fraud" involved. The Republican senators hired an online conservative conspiracy theorist peddling those fraud theories to conduct the "audit" through his company, Cyber Ninjas, which has absolutely zero experience in any of this, and the results have been a fountain of bumbling conspiracy-premised chaos. Some of the chaos is mere ridiculousness, and therefore funny. Some...
Bill Gates transferred $1.8billion in stock to his wife Melinda the day they announced their divorce in what appears to be the first of many public transactions the pair will make as they start to divide up their extraordinary assets.  The Microsoft founder is the fourth richest man in the world with an estimated fortune of $130billion. He and Melinda have been married for 27 years and have three adult children, but announced in a joint statement on Monday they were parting ways.  She said in court filings that the marriage was 'irretrievably broken'.  The pair's divorce settlement hasn't been finalized in court but they have agreed on a some of the terms of their separation. It's likely that the pair will settle privately, and that the only glimpses into their division of assets will come from SEC filings about how many shares they own in public companies. On Monday, one such filing revealed that Bill gave Melinda more than 14million shares of the Canadian National Railway Company worth $1.5billion. He also gave her 2.9 million shares of AutoNation.  The shares...
(CNN)The Academy Awards ending was a little different this year due to a decision by producers that had to do with late actor Chadwick Boseman. As a reminder, producers had switched the order of the final awards of the night so best picture was announced before the lead acting categories. Boseman, nominated for lead actor for his role in "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom," was highly favored to win. Instead, the Oscar went to Anthony Hopkins for "The Father" but he wasn't in attendance and the show ended abruptly. Director Steven Soderbergh, who was among producers of this year's event, spoke to the Los Angeles Times about switching the categories."That was something we were going to do well before the nominations came out -- we talked about that in January. It's our belief -- that I think is not unfounded -- that actors' speeches tend to be more dramatic than producers' speeches. And so we thought it might be fun to mix it up, especially if people didn't know that was coming," he said. "So that was always part of the...

President Joe Biden's administration on Friday will roll back a Trump-era policy that allowed undocumented immigrants to be arrested when they came to pick up unaccompanied children.  'There will not be any immigration enforcement consequences for a family member or sponsor who comes forward to be united with an unaccompanied child in our care,' a senior administration official told reporters Friday on a briefing call.  In the spring of 2018, the Trump administration tightened up the screening process - including getting Immigration and Customs Enforcement involved - for adults who stepped forward to sponsor children who traveled into the United States alone.    President Joe Biden's administration is scrapping a Trump-era agreement between HHS and ICE that had allowed undocumented family members and sponsors of unaccompanied children who had crossed the border and were in U.S. custody to be arrested by ICE  This led to a much smaller number of children being released from Health and Human Services custody to a family member or sponsor, CNN reported in September 2018.  The following month, a senior official from ICE, Matthew Albence, testified before...
Barry – Vaccinated people can still get the infection and test positive with a cloth. Can they affect others? We hope not, we do not know. We cannot deny it. Of course they will never get sick with severe forms and will never go to the hospital. This is great news Maria Sirona, a virologist and professor at the University of Barry, head of the Govt Molecular Laboratory at Barry Polyclinic, writes on Facebook. “Vaccines – he explains – work, how, to protect against these forms, especially on the first line, being in contact with these patients every day in the wards. However,« Vaccination – he underlines – needs time and a large force. Do we have people guiding us nationally with ideas and goals? We are still traveling in sight, I think, the only thing that is certain is that we should try to put this more epidemic back once again. Put, with at least one dose, the evidence tells us that it can work, it has minimal impact on the health service.Otherwise we are at a complete standstill....
A derby between Athletic Y Real Madrid It cannot end without controversy and tension, and this time there was no need to wait for the end of the meeting. Hernández Hernández’s decision not to whistle a penalty that seemed clear by Felipe’s hand overheated the match, especially in the last minutes. That led to a very unedifying scene that led to an attempted tangana. The protagonists were Lucas Vazquez Y Koke. The madridista went to the locker room talking with Luis Suarez about the aforementioned action, and although the Uruguayan was serious, the Galician was smiling. From behind appeared Beautiful mario, that to sting his rival began to tell him “You are eating them all”, in reference to the difficulty to cover his band. In those they were when Koke, from behind, said something to Vázquez, who turned around and faced him. Although they came to touch their faces, they were separated by their respective partners and went to the locker room each on their own. And it got messy. #LaCasaDelDerbi pic.twitter.com/htpczSNPH9 – Football in Movistar + (@MovistarFutbol)...

It’s downwind! John Daly would go for it! C’mon, Bryson! Even DeChambeau’s playing competitor, Jordan Spieth, joined in on the playful banter. “That's the only reason I played this week was to see you hit it over the lake,” Spieth told DeChambeau. But let DeChambeau explain: “The wind actually switched off the left and in. It was really weird. … Hopefully if it's downwind, consistently downwind, and I'm comfortable with it, I'll take it up by the green. But today it wasn't an opportunity again. Everybody thinks it was, but no matter what they say, you weren't in that situation and couldn't feel the wind.” With a nasty cold front arriving in force on Saturday, it’s looking less likely that DeChambeau will deliver his promised poke – no matter what he says.
