Comedian Andrew Schulz unleashed a rant for the ages about the coverage of Kyle Rittenhouse compared to Darrell Brooks. Rittenhouse was acquitted on all charges after shooting three people – two fatally – during a violent riot in Kenosha, Wisconsin in the summer of 2020. Yet, the media and celebrities treated Rittenhouse like a monster, despite the clear evidence showing he acted in self-defense. Meanwhile, Brooks is accused of murdering six people and injuring dozens more after allegedly driving his vehicle through a parade in Waukesha, WI. Despite the gravity of the situation, the media and celebrities don’t seem interested in talking, and that doesn’t make Schulz very happy. Schulz said the following in part during his exchange with Charlamagne: The f**king news propaganda that we digest all the time to sell clicks and it’s easy for Hollywood celebrities to look woke and supportive by tweeting about it. This is why [the Rittenhouse trial] is a news story. The same why it’s not a news story when that dude ran over a bunch of people in Waukesha. Nobody...

Seth Rogen was slammed after dismissing car break-ins in LA as part-and-parcel of living in the city - as its revealed his property portfolio includes two very secure properties.    Rogen, 39, who owned a secure $2.5 million home in West Hollywood and currently lives in a $8 million ranch house in Hollywood Hills, told Casey Neistat that crime was just part of 'living in a big city.'   Neistat, 40, who used to be a prominent YouTuber in New York before moving to the West Coast, took to Twitter on Wednesday to tell his followers that 'our cars got robbed,' and blamed the city for being a 'crime riddled 3rd world s**thole of a city.' By Alec Baldwin’s standards, his salary for starring in the Western film “Rust” and producing it was relatively modest — $250,000, according to the Hollywood Reporter. But that amount was five times the $48,945 that cinematographer Halyna Hutchins expected to earn and almost astronomical, compared to the $7,913 being paid to armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who was responsible for overseeing the guns used on the set and making sure they were handled safely. These figures come from a draft of the production budget for the New Mexico-set film, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The film was slated to cost $7.2 million, which would put it into the “low-budget” category of films. A-lister Baldwin helped developed “Rust” as a “passion project,” not as “a money gig,” added the Hollywood Reporter. “Rust” began filming outside Santa Fe, New Mexico on Oct. 6 and employed 75 crew members, 22 principal actors and 230 “background talent” from the nearby area. Production was shut down on Oct. 21 when Baldwin fatally shot Hutchins and wounded director Joel Souza during a rehearsal for a gunfight scene. While...
In a bold but polarizing move, the West Hollywood City Council unanimously approved a minimum wage hike that will boost pay for hourly employees of hotels, restaurants and other businesses as soon as January. The decision, which came at the end of a meeting that ran into the early morning hours Thursday, will bring some of the area’s workers to $17.64 an hour, the highest in the nation. Many celebrated the increase as a meaningful step for low-wage workers — who bore much of the brunt of the pandemic and who, in some industries, have been subjected to increasingly aggravated customers who are tipping less. The decision is “life changing,” said Sandra Pellecer, a single mother from Guatemala who often struggled to make ends meet during 16 years as a cook in area hotels. “Not only is it going to support me and hotel workers across the city, but also it’s going to help all workers across West Hollywood earn a better wage,” said Pellecer, who lost her job during the pandemic and is looking for a...

Four former female members of the Church of Scientology who say they were harassed by the secretive church after coming forward with rape claims against actor Danny Masterson are fighting to have their case heard in public court rather than by religious arbitration. The 2nd District Court of Appeal took up the case Tuesday after the California Supreme Court ordered the appeals judges to reconsider their previous decision to let the church rule on their claims.   The women have accused the church of hiring people to follow them, photograph them, tap their phones and hack their emails and home security systems. One says the church killed her dog by leaving rat poison wrapped in raw meat on her lawn. A judge previously said that Scientology has 'an expressly written doctrine' that 'not only discourages, but prohibits' people from coming forward with assault claims - a policy that likely kept the women silent for years and calls into question the integrity of an internal process. The four women, and the husband of one, filed the civil harassment lawsuit in 2019, but...
Actor Dan Aykroyd has spoken out in favor of cancel culture in comedy, saying that material deemed offensive “should be rightly canceled” if it hurts other people’s feelings. By his own standards, Aykroyd would have to renounce some of his most famous performances and their lucrative residuals. If true, that may explain how a live round was inside Baldwin's prop gun. TMZ reported:Multiple sources directly connected to the "Rust" production tell TMZ ... the same gun Alec Baldwin accidentally fired -- hitting the DP and director -- was being used by crews members off set as well, for what we're told amounted to target practice. We're told this off-the-clock shooting -- which was allegedly happening away from the movie lot -- was being done with real bullets ... which is how some who worked on the film believe a live round found its way in one of the chambers that day.As Carpenter told the Post, the phrase "prop gun" is slightly misleading. Many film and TV sets use real firearms during filming, loading them with blank rounds, which are identical to normal bullets with one exception: they do not have a projectile, the piece of lead that is expelled from the barrel of a gun when fired. If the firearm in question was, in fact, being used for target practice off-set, then a live round could have been...
Security guards and a compliance officer at New Mexico's Bonanza Creek Ranch on Oct. 22, 2021, the film set where actor Alec Baldwin fatally shot cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and wounded a director when he discharged a prop gun.Adria Malcolm | Reuters While injuries or death from prop firearms are extremely rare, the accidental killing of Halyna Hutchins on a Sante Fe movie set Thursday has sparked inquiries about working conditions for Hollywood crew members. "I've been in the industry 21 years," said Kevin Williams, the prop department supervisor at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. "I have not heard of any circumstances like this. So, this is definitely one of these things, and it sounds like a cliche to say, but it really sounds like a freak accident." The circumstances of the shooting are under investigation. The Santa Fe County Sheriff's office confirmed that actor Alec Baldwin fired a prop gun on the set of "Rust," a Western being filmed at the Bonanza Creek Ranch, killing the film's director of photography and injuring its director Joel Souza. Souza has...
For once, Alec Baldwin has been felled by a disaster which is not at all of his own making. Who knows how awful he must be feeling after what appears to have been a terrible accident, resulting in the death of one colleague and the wounding of another? There is nothing to suggest that the actor, 63, was in any way at fault – but this is not the first time he has been caught up in a controversy. In the past, he has overdosed on cocaine, allegedly thrown chairs and phones on set during ‘volcanic’ temper tantrums, been kicked off a plane for refusing to stop using his phone, had run-ins with police and in 2018 he shoved a man in a row over a parking space. Troubled star: Alec Baldwin plays a gun-toting Irish priest in film Pixie Along the way there have been repeated fracas with paparazzi, one of which included Baldwin making a deeply unpleasant homophobic slur. He also is said to have told a photographer: ‘I hope you choke.’ And told a reporter: ‘I am...

The shooting occurred on the set of the independent Western movie “Rust.” The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that 42-year-old Halyna Hutchins, the director of photography, and 42-year-old Joel Souza, the film’s director, were shot when Baldwin discharged the prop firearm at about 1:50 p.m. Thursday...

CBS4 contacted Hollywood Police about the pages, they said the family confirms they’re only in contact with organizer, Jovany Coronado. In addition, they say, watch out for potential fake accounts, because unfortunately, it happens all the time. Hollywood won’t be largely shut down by a strike of 60,000 behind-the-scenes workers that had been slated to start Monday, after International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), the union representing those workers, announced a tentative deal with the major studios over the weekend. But the workers still have to ratify the deal once it’s finalized, and many are voicing discontent about what’s in it. That echoes the process leading up to the ongoing strike of 10,000 John Deere workers: Their union leadership presented them with a tentative deal and the workers voted it down. In the past, bosses and the media have often liked to suggest that union leaders are demanding too much, out of step with their members. Now it’s clear that in many cases, leadership is out of step with members—but by being willing to accept less, not demanding more. The deal, as described by IATSE, would guarantee workers 10-hour rest periods each day, 54-hour weekend breaks, “improved wages and working conditions for streaming,” retroactive 3% annual raises, and increased penalties to be paid when workers are forced to miss meal breaks.  Many IATSE members are...
