Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Texas), who served as the White House doctor for 14 years under former presidents Trump and Obama, said allegations of abusing subordinates and drinking on the job are “complete garbage.” “I worked for three administrations, three presidents, and it’s just complete garbage,” Jackson said on Newsmax show “Spicer & Co.” “This is nothing more of an effort from the left to take me down," he added. In a report released by the Pentagon’s inspector general, Jackson was accused of saying sexually inappropriate comments to female staff, abusing subordinates and being drunk while he was on the job.  Jackson claims that the Pentagon sat on the allegations for three years, and 24 hours after President BidenJoe BidenThe West needs a more collaborative approach to Taiwan Abbott's medical advisers were not all consulted before he lifted Texas mask mandate House approves George Floyd Justice in Policing Act MORE was sworn into the...
On Monday, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced a 20-point guide to how to empower women. Timed to coincide with next week's International Women's Day, it dripped with all the usual insufferably patronising self-righteousness that's become the hallmark of the couple's endless hectoring homilies to the world. 'Let's unleash a groundswell of real acts of compassion for the women in your life!' they beseeched on their foundation website. The 20 points, which included such blatantly sexist guff as telling us all to 'order from a woman-led restaurant' – can you imagine the outrage if I suggested ordering from a man-led restaurant? - also contained this directive: 'Support safe spaces for women.' Fine words from a couple who never stop telling us how caring and compassionate they are, and how much they want to 'empower' women. Doubtless, we'll hear a lot more of this narrative during their two-hour interview with...
Marv Albert had the perfect word for this. He would call it “gar-BAHGE.” Usually, that was simply a reference to the final portion of a blowout, when the professional equivalents of walk-ons were summoned to the scorer’s table, when they’d spend their rare and valuable minutes trying to chuck up as many shots as they could, barely breathing on each other much less guarding one another. It was awful on the ears and worse on the eyes, those who would still keep the dial on the radio station and the TV network, and Marv would give a French twist to it, turn to Cal Ramsey or Butch Beard or John Andariese or Clyde Frazier. “Gar-BAHGE time,” he’d say. Yeah. This was garbage. This was a game grafted out of too many nights the past 20 years, when the effort was lacking, the defense was a rumor, the execution laughable. The...

CHICAGO (CBS) — Almost two weeks after the area’s big snowstorm, and some Chicagoans are still dealing with dumpsters packed with so much trash, the lids won’t close. CBS 2’s Marissa Parra reports from Wicker Park where one mom is running out of patience. READ MORE: I Dont Know What To Believe Any More: Confusion Over P-EBT Meal Card CBS 2 spoke with people in Wicker Park who said overflowing trash bins made sense last week, but if the snow is melted from alleys, why can’t garbage trucks come through? As Chicago warms up, Chicagoan patience is running out. “This is like our two bins of three to four weeks of trash,” said Wicker Park resident Christina Cedeno. Gone is the thick blanket of snow that once coated streets and alleyways. Wicker Park residents hoped that would mean the trash would be gone too. She has her hands full with...
Two members of Congress have drawn rebukes this week for public statements about transgender people. On Thursday, Sen. Rand Paul, in his questioning of a Biden nominee, repeatedly used the phrase “genital mutilation” in reference to gender confirmation surgery. The previous day, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green posted an anti-transgender sign facing the office of a lawmaker who has a transgender child. Paul’s statements came during the confirmation hearing for Rachel Levine, President Joe Biden’s pick to serve as assistant health secretary. She would be the first out transgender federal official to be confirmed by the Senate. He questioned Levine about gender confirmation surgery for minors — a very rare procedure in the United States — and spoke of it as “genital mutilation.” Sen. Patty Murray, the chair of the Health, Education Labor and Pensions Committee, later rebuked the Kentucky Republican. “It is really critical to me that our nominees be...

The cab of a flatbed tower mounted a concrete divider after colliding with a garbage truck Thursday morning in Fair Lawn. The driver for City-Wide Towing of Hawthorne said he was headed west on Broadway just past the Route 4/208 split when a car cut him off, pushing his rig into the back of garbage truck owned by Interstate Waste Services of Teaneck shortly after 10:15 a.m. The tow truck got hooked onto the garbage truck’s rear push bar and was turned sideways before it slammed into the median, sending concrete flying, Sgt. Brian Metzler said. A chuck of it struck a 2006 Nissan headed east on Broadway, he said. The tow truck operator, 52, of Hawthorne, complained of neck pain, while the Nissan driver, a 57-year-old Fair Lawn man, told responders he had head pain, the sergeant said. Both refused hospitalization, he said. Fair Lawn Rescue responded for a...
CHICAGO (CBS) — With much of the snow that blanketed Chicago this month melting away, the Department of Streets and Sanitation said, starting next week, city workers will begin hauling away lawn furniture, ironing boards, and other items used to claim “Dibs” on street parking over the last few weeks. While technically illegal, claiming “Dibs” after digging out a parking space is a Chicago tradition, especially after heavy snowfall. It can also lead to some nasty disputes, and even acts of vandalism against drivers who ignore “Dibs” and park in a spot someone else has claimed. Western Journal February 16, 2021 0 Comments With Joe Biden as president, the days of the national minimum wage at its present $7.25 per hour may soon be gone. It will likely be raised to $15 or more and also indexed for inflation, whether it is stuck into a COVID bill or sent to Congress on its own. But this enactment would be a joblessness bill for “the least, the lost and the last” among us, the very people who suffer the most economic hardship. The unemployment created by this pernicious legislation always attacks the poor and the unskilled, precisely the people who can least afford it. But it is even more crucial to understand this economic law in the age of pandemic, given present high unemployment rates. Let us, then, more clearly understand the malevolent effects of this unwise legislative enactment. What determines wages? At what level would...

VOD news brings you the best releases of the week on Netflix, HBO, Amazon Prime Video … And if you are subscribed to any of these three sites, you have things to see, such as Space Sweepers. On the contrary… We open the section for another week with what’s new from Netflix, which as usual is quite a bit, but irregular. And while any self-respecting movie buff would spit on me for highlighting Space Sweepers over any other of the platform’s releases, my only justification for this outrage is to solemnly exclaim (it will sound better if you put the voice of Gerard Butler on it): This is MC! Go ahead: Space sweepers is a Korean science fiction, comedy, and adventure film “for the whole family.” Ergo, Space Sweepers is a minor diversion that you will see once and no more, if you ever see it. But here is...

A garbage man in England has been fired after getting caught on camera going Kung-fu on a family’s sidewalk snowman. Footage shows the orange-uniformed trash worker delivering a half-dozen kicks — including some Bruce Lee-worthy roundhouses — to the six-foot snowman, decapitating the construction and ultimately reducing it to half its former stature. The snowman had been built by neighborhood kids in Hereford — a cathedral town near the Welsh border — after a recent blizzard, homeowner Sophie Taylor, 25, told the Herefordtimes.com. Taylor said her three-year-old son, Joseph, always waves to the trash haulers each week through the window. And then “he goes and does that in front of his face,” she complained of the worker, who was fired by his company.. Joseph saw the destruction through the window and was reduced to tears, the mother told The Mirror. “On Tuesday he came running to me in...

MARINA — Although the dumpster fire that was 2020 is finally over, actual trash is still piling up, worrying local officials. More garbage is contaminating recycling bins and residential garbage bins are filling up more quickly. If those trends continue, garbage rates will have to increase. “It’s a big problem and a big, bad step backward,” said Ted Terrasas, sustainability coordinator for the city of Monterey. Residential garbage is piling up faster as people spend their days at home generating more waste than they used to, often in the form of packaging from online orders and takeout containers. Additionally, the nation saw a surge in decluttering last spring with many people cooped up due to shelter-in-place restrictions and needing to make room to work from home. While Marie Kondo may have been proud, much of that clutter ended up somewhere else where it didn’t spark joy: the recycling facility at...
The Justice Department on Friday closed out its investigation into nine discarded ballots whose existence President Trump had repeatedly pointed to as examples of election fraud. The top federal prosecutor in Harrisburg concluded that his team had found "insufficient evidence to prove criminal intent on the part of the person who discarded the ballots." "No criminal charges will be filed, and the matter is closed," said acting U.S. Attorney Bruce Brandler in a statement thanking the department and the FBI for assisting in the investigation. The investigation, controversial because it began before election day, was instigated after Trump mentioned the incident on Fox in September. Investigators soon found that seven of the nine ballots in question were cast for Trump. The person who discarded the ballots is thought to have a mental disability, according to the Washington Post. Pennsylvania Secretary of State Kathy Boockvar said in September that the misplaced...
Whether they are newly elected or have been re-elected as incumbents, state and local officials all over the country will be facing tough, important decisions about waste disposal in 2021. Meanwhile, the waste incineration industry doesn’t care much about who won in 2020 – they will continue making outrageous claims, targeting the decisions of both Republicans and Democrats, that dangerously cloud this already difficult decision-making process by hiding the significant environmental, health and economic downsides of burning garbage. Trash incineration, which has been rebranded by the waste incineration industry as “waste-to-energy” (WTE), is often offered as an efficient solution to waste crises. But the truth is that this method of waste disposal is not only inefficient, it is harmful in every way that you might imagine, starting with the fact that it instantaneously spews virtually all carbon in our garbage into the atmosphere as carbon dioxide, whether in the form of plastic, wood...
MADRID — (AP) — With piles of ice and snow still covering most streets of Madrid, the Spanish capital began Thursday grappling with the problem of garbage piled in the streets and tens of thousands of trees and branches blocking the pavement less than a week after Storm Filomena. The Madrid city government estimated on Thursday that Filomena caused at least 1.4 billion euros ($1.7 billion) in damage. Mayor José Luis Martínez-Almeida said the storm had damaged 150,000 trees. Major parks, including Retiro Park in the heart of the city and the huge Casa de Campo Park on Madrid’s western outskirts, suffered. Martínez-Almeida said the city calculated that 1,250 metric tons of snow (1,378 U.S. tons) fell nonstop for 30 hours during the peak of the storm Friday and Saturday, adding that it was Madrid’s heaviest snowfall in a century. Fortunately, the Royal Botanic Gardens, ne of the oldest...

If you happen to mistakenly toss out the coronavirus check or debit card, payment, misplace it, or it's stolen, the IRS says there's a fix for that....
An unidentified man’s body was found floating in the East River, wrapped in a blanket and shoved inside garbage bags fastened with rope and tape, cops said Tuesday. The NYPD’s Harbor Unit was notified of the apparent remains under the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge between Randall’s Island and Astoria, Queens, around 11:15 a.m. Monday, police said. They discovered the body of a man who was “wrapped in a tan blanket with black garbage bags, rope and duct tape,” police said. The body was taken to a nearby ferry dock. The medical examiner will determine a cause of death and the person’s identity, cops said. Police are investigating.
Conservative journalist Susan Ferrechio took issue with New York Magazine writer Olivia Nuzzi on Saturday for penning that her lasting image of President Trump was of a man with "one finger on the nuclear button, the others glued to his phone." "Wait was he threatening to use nukes???" Ferrechio, the Washington Examiner’s chief congressional correspondent, balked. "Whoa. I don't remember that story! If true, it is absolutely astonishing. If not, it's the kind of garbage journalism that Makes Things Worse." The quote was from Nuzzi’s latest piece, "Silence of the Damned," which discusses the political fallout of Wednesday’s U.S. Capitol riot. It was the magazine’s top story Saturday.  In a subsequent tweet, Ferrechio mockingly speculated how the media might cover the next administration. NEW YORK MAG'S NUZZI SLAMS MEDIA 'COWARDICE' TOWARD BIDEN, CLAIMS JOURNOS DON'T WANT TO RUIN SOCIAL LIFE  "I'm looking forward to the media coverage of the Biden years,"...
Sen. Lindsey Graham may have the softer features and voice of what was once considered a gentlemen in the antebellum South, but he has long been a raving hypocrite. Like the rest of his political party, he sold what was left of his faux integrity when he did a 180 degree turn and became one of the many Trump bootlickers. Graham’s turnaround came after his very public attacks on Trump as a “race-baiting, xenophobic, religious bigot,” in 2015. He then turned around and became a defender of the transparently corrupt 45th president of the United States just a few months later. In the weeks after this year’s presidential election became clearly decided on the side of Joe Biden, Graham has been doing his boot-licking job of promoting evidence free, and provably false, election fraud claims. Unfortunately for Graham, the MAGA crowd and their QAnon huckster wing, demand 100% delusion, and...
