J.P. still watches The Bachelor franchise shows, and often gives his feedback on social media. Victoria Valentino may be known for her days as a Playboy model, but it's her nursing skills that came in handy recently. The 49-year-old star told TMZ that she was at her Altadena, Calif., home on Sunday when she heard noises she believed to be firecrackers. Those noises were gunshots, according to the celebrity news site. Valentino went outside to see what the commotion was all about and she saw a person lying on the ground. Getty Stephen Curry #30 of the Golden State Warriors celebrates during the game between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Golden State Warriors. The Golden State Warriors are going into the 2020-21 NBA season shorthanded. Just a few weeks ago they lost their All-Star shooting guard Klay Thompson to a right Achilles tear and will be without him the entire season. More recently, two of their key players tested positive for coronavirus. Both James Wiseman, the #2 overall selection in the 2020 NBA Draft, and Draymond Green, former Defensive Player of the Year, both were held out of practices all week due to their diagnosis and may miss the preseason altogether. With so many people missing it will put even more pressure on the team’s former two-time MVP, Steph Curry, to shoulder the load as well as the newly acquired Kelly Oubre Jr., formerly of the Phoenix Suns, to help the team supplant the production of Thompson. However, the person who may be under the most pressure this season will be former #1...
More from: Raise taxes on the rich, who are already heading for the exits!  Ban cars in Manhattan!  Put up the homeless in office buildings!  A dozen-odd candidates have tossed their hats in the ring to be New York City’s next mayor. Most are so far-left, so out of touch with the Big Apple’s actual needs, they make the current mayor seem as centrist as a 1960s “Rockefeller Republican.”  To judge them by their words, even the least loony in the field is enough to send the most passionate New Yorker to the exits. Their statements on such key issues as policing, homelessness, taxation and quality of life range from merely silly to borderline insane.  They’ve all got their eyes on the June 22 Democratic primary — decisive in a city where registered Democrats outnumber Republicans by more than six to one. It’s no wonder that most candidates lean liberal-and-beyond on almost every major issue.  Their words matter. Here are some of the candidates’ nuttier pronouncements. They’re all direct quotes from their websites, interviews and one campaign video.  Read them...
Todd Kirkland/Getty Images Donald Payne of the Jacksonville Jaguars on December 22, 2019. On Friday the Pittsburgh Steelers announced having held a tryout with Donald Payne, the former Stetson University Hatter who was once described as ‘The Troy Polamalu of FCS Football.’ Payne, 26, isn’t a strong safety; he plays inside linebacker—at least that’s the position he has played in the NFL—but at 5-foot-11 and 217 pounds, he’s similar in size to Troy Polamalu. He also seems to have a knack for making tackles—and making big plays. Lightly recruited by college football programs, Payne decided to help (re)start a program at Stetson University in Florida, which plays in the Pioneer Football League, a league that includes (mostly) basketball-oriented schools like Davidson, Morehead State, Dayton, Valparaiso, Butler, Drake and Marist. During his four-year career as a defensive back at Stetson (2013-16), he was a three-time All-American and finished as the third-leading tackler in Division I (FCS/FBS) history with a remarkable 538 tackles, including 65.5 tackles for loss. He also authored 14 sacks, forced...
Phil Linz, part of the Yankees’ 1962 World Series championship team, but known more for his role in the infamous “Harmonica Incident” two years later, died Wednesday at 81.  Former longtime Yankees PR director Marty Appel announced the news Thursday.  As a player, Linz was primarily a utility infielder and was a rookie on the 1962 Yankees. He also homered twice in the 1964 World Series, when they lost to the Cardinals.  It was earlier in the ’64 season that Linz inadvertently became a more significant part of Yankees history.  After the Yankees were swept in a four-game series by the White Sox in Chicago, the team was on the bus headed to O’Hare Airport to fly to Boston, where they were due to continue their road trip.  Linz, upset that he had not gotten off the bench during the critical August series, started playing a harmonica he had gotten the day before.  As Jim Bouton wrote in his book “Ball Four,’’ Linz didn’t know how to play the instrument and tried to play “Mary Had a Little Lamb.’’ ...

Lentz is known primarily for being Justin Bieber’s spiritual advisor, though Bieber distanced himself from their relationship after Lentz was fired from Hillsong in November for “moral failings,” according to a church press release. Lentz has since admitted to having extramarital affairs, via a post on his Instagram. Lentz and his family recently sold their home in Montclair, New Jersey, and have since moved to Los Angeles, per The New York Times. Lentz has been photographed riding his bike, spending time with his family at the beach, and more in recent weeks. Dan Kitwood/Getty Images Is the old adage, “once a cheater, always a cheater,” true? That was the question being discussed on Bachelor Happy Hour after Tayshia Adams repeated the phrase on Tuesday’s episode of The Bachelorette. During the discussion, the podcast’s co-host and former Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay revealed she has been unfaithful before. “I’ve cheated before in past relationships and you know, not excusing my behavior by any means because it was wrong, but I can tell you exactly why I cheated in that moment,” Lindsay told fellow-former Bachelorette Becca Kufrin. “And I think it’s one thing to say ‘once a cheater, always a cheater’ if you’re in that relationship and somebody cheats on you. That’s different because you might not be able to get past that and move on in your relationship,” the Extra correspondent elaborated. “But if prior to you, before they even met you, they cheated for whatever reason I think it’s unfair to not give them the benefit of the doubt that they were able to learn and grow...
Former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe has entered the race to reclaim his old job. McAuliffe, who governed the state as a moderate Democrat from 2014-2018, announced at an event at a Richmond elementary school on Wednesday he was joining the Democratic primary field to seek a second term. “This pandemic is a turning point in our lives, and our goal can’t be just to go back to where we were before. We need to think big and act bold to take Virginia to the next level. And the one thing that has the opportunity to lift up all Virginians is education,” he noted at the event. He went on to argue that in order “to build a strong post-COVID economy, the best workforce in the world and to create a path for the middle class, we need to make an unprecedented investment in education.” The Virginia Democrat also sent an email to supporters just before the event’s kick-off announcing his decision. McAuliffe is not the only person seeking the Democratic nomination in the commonwealth ahead of next year’s gubernatorial...
Blood is thicker than “Thibs.” Former President Barack Obama, a noted fan of Tom Thibodeau when he coached Obama’s hometown Bulls, made the Knicks into a punch line this week. Obama’s Knicks’ jab clearly was a reaction to the club’s treatment of his brother-in-law and former Knicks executive, Craig Robinson, who appears prominently in the former president’s new memoir. While appearing on the “Desus & Mero” show, Obama mentioned he had seen the clip of the hosts fumbling around awkwardly on the court with Sen. Cory Booker. “Let me just say that I saw some of the footage of y’all with Booker,” Obama says in an early clip of the show that will air Sunday. “I’m just saying, here’s the good news: Looks like y’all could play for the Knicks.” It was an undisputable dig at the woebegone franchise and a little surprising considering Obama’s past allegiance to Thibodeau, its new coach. “Obviously he’s a great president, a big Bulls fan, and so I’ve always enjoyed him,’’ Thibodeau said when asked by The Post if he was surprised at...

Getty LeBron James and Marreese Speights. The 2014-2015 Golden State Warriors team will always be one to remember. After lightning up the NBA to a 67-15 record the team was able to eventually defeat the LeBron James led, sans Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love, Cleveland Cavaliers in 6 games to win the NBA title. One aspect that made the team so much fun to watch was how well they all played together within their respective roles. Whenever someone needed to show up for a big moment they did without question. A key player for the Warriors who showed up time and time again to help them win it all was former Florida Gator Marreese Speights. Speights earned the nickname “Mo Buckets” that season after leading the Warriors bench in scoring. The name happened to be so good, that it translated to NBA 2K where Speights became a key player within certain modes of the game. While having Mo Buckets on your team may have helped improve some aspects of the game, Speights...
Justin K. Aller/Getty Images Alex Smith is sacked by Robert Spillane during the first quarter of the Washington-Pittsburgh game at Heinz Field on December 07, 2020. On Monday the Pittsburgh Steelers lost to Washington 23-17, stopping the team’s undefeated start to the season at 11 games. A key play in last night’s contest came at the very end of the first half, when Washington kicked a 49-yard field goal before time expired—and reduced Pittsburgh’s lead to 14-3. According to former NFL referee and NBC rules analyst Terry McAulay, game officials should not have stopped the clock, thereby allowing Washington enough time to try the field goal. The Umpire was asking for the ball at the end of the play. He then stopped the clock at :08 as he tried to get a new ball from the sideline. He should not have done that. WAS caused the delay and should not have benefited from it. — Terry McAulay (@SNFRules) December 8, 2020 With seconds to go in the first half, Washington quarterback Alex...

NBC There have been many coaches on NBC’s The Voice over the years, and some of those coaches have even gotten into relationships after meeting on the show, like Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton, who are now engaged to be married. One former coach, however, recently talked about how she wanted to “f***” one of the advisors on the show. Miley Cyrus, who coached The Voice on seasons 11 and 13, and Dua Lipa, who was an advisor for Kelly Clarkson’s team in season 18, recently came out with a song together called “Prisoner.” In the press following the song’s release, Cyrus appeared on The Howard Stern Show. During the appearance, Stern said that he thought it looked as though the two were “having full-on sex” in the music video. Miley Cyrus said that that didn’t happen, however, and that the two are too close of friends to ever cross that line.Cyrus Says She Doesn’t Want to ‘F*** Dua Lipa That Much’In the interview with Howard Stern, Cyrus set the record straight about what was happening in...
Getty Giants QB Alex Tanney. With starter Daniel Jones appearing to be trending towards being inactive against the Seattle Seahawks this Sunday, the New York Giants have opted to bring in some reinforcement at the quarterback position. Alex Tanney, who spent two seasons with the Giants prior to his release this September, is set to rejoin the team and travel to Seattle in case of an emergency at the position. “As far as Alex, he won’t be officially cleared until Saturday. We’ll take him to Seattle with us and keep him in the fold,” head coach Joe Judge told reporters on Friday. “In terms of if we needed him if something happened in the last minute, activate him.” Originally an undrafted free agent out of Monmouth College (IL) back in 2012, Tanney has been the quintessential journeyman, spending time with eight different franchises (Chiefs, Cowboys, Browns, Buccaneers, Titans, Bills, Colts and Giants). Despite his numerous stops in the league, the now 33-year-old has appeared in just two career games. In 2015, as...
Justin K. Aller/Getty Images Shareef Miller of the Penn State Nittany Lions tackles La’Darius Jefferson of the Michigan State Spartans on October 13, 2018. On Tuesday the Philadelphia Eagles released former Penn State defensive end Shareef Miller from the team’s practice squad. On Thursday he got called in for a tryout with the Pittsburgh Steelers, but not before he sent out a (now deleted) tweet in which he blasted the Philadelphia Eagles organization, calling it “a horrible place to be.” To be sure, Miller (6-foot-4, 255 pounds) overpromised and underdelivered during his time in Philadelphia. He was a fourth-round draft pick of the Eagles in the 2019 NFL Draft, but was active for just two games during his rookie year and played just two snaps, both on special-teams. But being nearly invisible during his rookie year didn’t shatter Miller’s confidence, as he went on to guarantee he would record 10 sacks for the Eagles in 2020. As it turns out, Miller didn’t even make the 53-man roster and was waived before the start...
Getty Houston Rockets guard James Harden The Golden State Warriors have been a model of consistency and excellence over the last 6-7 years. With their core of 5x All-Star Klay Thompson, former Defensive Player of the Year Draymond Green, and 2x MVP Steph Curry they have been able to remain in championship-contention whenever all three of them have played throughout the season. However, the Warriors won’t have that same consistency this upcoming year. Unfortunately for them, their sharpshooter and starting guard Thompson will miss the entire 2020 – 2021 season due to him tearing his right Achilles. The team, since receiving the news, has made some additions that will likely help them to supplant the lost production but, their championship chances may by now be dashed. Yet before the injury took place, the Warriors attempted to make another move that would have flipped the NBA upside down. Per The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the Warriors were one of several teams who called the Houston Rockets about a potential trade for their former MVP...
Zappos founder Tony Hseih didn’t have a will when he died from complications of smoke inhalation in a Connecticut house fire, according to a report. The family of the former shoe e-tailer CEO filed court papers in Las Vegas Wednesday asking a judge to name his father and brother as special administrators to his estate, 8 News Now Las Vegas reported. “The co-applicants are unaware of the existence of a fully executed estate plan and have a good faith belief that the decedent died intestate,” court papers said. The family said it needs access to Hsieh’s financial and social media accounts and to connect with his lawyers. Hsieh’s next of kin is listed as his parents and two brothers. The 46-year-old entrepreneur, who lived in Vegas, died Friday after being pulled unconscious from a shed that was on fire at a home in New London, Connecticut on Nov. 18. His death was ruled an accident due to complications from smoke inhalation. Hsieh, who led the Zappos empire for 20 years before retiring as CEO in August, purchased the home...
America’s three most recent former presidents have reportedly all said they would publicly take a COVID-19 vaccine once one is approved to help promote the drug’s safety. Former Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton told CNN of their intentions — while former President Barack Obama said in an interview set to air Thursday he may end up taking a COVID-19 vaccine on TV. Bush has even reached out to White House coronavirus task force members Dr. Anthony Fauci and Dr. Deborah Birx to volunteer to help encourage US citizens to take the vaccine, the former president’s chief of staff, Freddy Ford, told CNN. “First, the vaccines need to be deemed safe and administered to the priority populations. Then, President Bush will get in line for his, and will gladly do so on camera,” Ford told the outlet. Clinton’s press secretary, Angel Urena, said the 42nd president is also on board. “President Clinton will definitely take a vaccine as soon as available to him, based on the priorities determined by public health officials,” Urena said. “And he will do...
