Amazing Spider-Man # 60 shows another example of Mysterio’s fear when it comes to talking about Kindred. Peter Parker has just bled to Mary Jane in an abandoned theater where Mysterio watched from the shadows. After Peter left, Mysterio introduced himself to MJ, and she asks him what he knows about Kindred. Beck is quick to tell MJ that some things are better not to...

WITH so many eyes on Spiderman star Tom Holland, the actor has kept fiercely private about his dating life. Fans and outlets have taken guess at who he could be dating based on his social media activity. 3Tom HollsndCredit: Andrew Sims - The Times Who is Tom Holland dating? It's thought that Tom Holland is dating actress Nadia Parkes. It is thought that Tom and Nadia were introduced last year by Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas - who recently welcomed their first child. Tom Holland’s Spider-Man sounds like he’s in trouble, if the revealed title for the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man 3 is any indication. Announced on Holland’s Instagram, the title for the third installment of the Marvel-Sony franchise is officially Spider-Man: Phone Home. The subtitle falls right in line with the high school-themed Homecoming and European vacation sequel Far From Home, and creates even more distance from Peter Parker’s home of New York City. (Also, good E.T. nod.) But where is the webslinging Avenger this time? Based on casting reports that neither Marvel Studios nor Sony Pictures have yet to technically confirm, Spider-Man: Phone Home will see Spidey sucked up into the multiverse. The pivot to an actual multiverse comes after Mysterio pranked the world into thinking there were other planes of existence in Far From Home … only for audiences to learn through a post-credit scene cameo by J.K. Simmons’ J....
In one of the scenes of the movie Cherry, the camera focuses on Tom Holland’s face for a long minute. Her expression goes from absolute horror to exhaustion. All with just a couple of gestures, narrowed eyes and tight mouth. Scary? Tensile? Of fury? It is not easy to understand what happens to Holland’s character in a film that bets on emotional nuances. But the actor manages to provide a deep notion about the inner world of his character. He sustains the inner tension that shakes him, while showing the invisible suffering that leads Nico Walker, a war veteran and criminal by necessity, to face whatever his destiny faces. ‘Cherry’: from book to screen It is surprising how the Russo brothers manage to make the homonymous semi-autobiographical work in which they based on the film takes on a deep tragic dimension on screen. In its paper version, the story of...

Followers of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and many movie journalists rummage through his installments to uncover covert meanings. This is what Marvel Studios has achieved by watering their movies and their Easter egg series. Or, rather, Disney because it is something that it does equally in the franchise of Star wars (since 1977) or in Pixar movies. And sometimes we stumble across things, little production details, that maybe they are. But they can also be nothing. The latest has been what they found in the second post-credit scene of Spider-Man: Far From Home (Jon Watts, 2019). The strange hexagonal shape of ‘WandaVision’ Agent Jimmy Woo points out that the area affected by the supposed Scarlet Witch spell has an oddly hexagonal shape. In it, we discover that agent Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) and Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) have been impersonated by the shapeshifters. skrull Talos (Ben Mendelsohn) and...

The Marvel Universe is in the thick of the Venom King in Black crossover, and that can mean only one thing: You get a symbiote! You get a symbiote! Everybody gets an evil-mind-controlled-by-a-space-god symbiote! But there’s one new symbiote on the block that’s actually got a pretty cool editorial story behind it. Writer Seanan McGuire kicked off a run on Spider-Gwen: Ghost-Spider in 2018, just in time for the wider world to be introduced to the character in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. That run continued until earlier this year, when the series published its final issue. But McGuire is back, and her King in Black tie-in picks up just one of the plot threads she had to abandon. The Mary Jane of Ghost-Spider’s home universe is the newest version of Carnage. What else is happening in the pages of our favorite comics? We’ll tell you. Welcome to...
A famous actress gives voice to the artificial intelligence Karan built in the Spider-Man costume in “Spider-Man: Homecoming”. Do you know which Hollywood star this is?
Although it will be one of the last releases of the year, the third installment of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is one of the films that Marvel fans await with the most expectation, since everything indicates that it will be the door to the Multiverse within the Cinematic Universe of Marvel. Now, for now, there is nothing officially confirmed about this theory. Faced with these signs, a fundamental figure of the study has finally spoken: Kevin Feige. On the occasion of the premiere of Wandavision, the boss of Marvel Studios was questioned about the rumors of the expected multiverse, as well as the Spider-verse. Do not forget, that Spider-Man 3 will feature the return of Jamie Foxx and Alfred Molina as Electro and Doctor Octopus, respectively, both belonging to two different versions of the world of Peter Parker. In addition, Benedict Cumberbatch and his Doctor Strange will also make an appearance,...
The cast for Spider-Man 3 appears to grow every day as more alum from both the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy and the Amazing Spider-Man joins what looks like the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s attempt to make the Spider-verse happen—or possibly set up the Sinister Six. But the latest casting notices and rumors are leading to even more delightfully absurd fan-casting choices. Featured Video Hide

The opening of Disneyland’s Avengers Campus has been delayed due to COVID-19, but if you want a piece of the park before it opens, Disney is offering a chance to buy the first piece of merch ahead of the land’s debut — even as the park itself is closed! Spider-Bots, fighting robotic spiders, will be available for purchase in Disneyland’s Downtown Disney in the World of Disney and Disneyland Resort Backlot Premiere Shops starting Dec. 4. Also available will be merchandise themed to the Worldwide Engineering Brigade (WEB) area of the park. In the park’s story, WEB is an organization started by Tony Stark designed to showcase the works of promising young scientists. It’s also the location of the land’s central Spider-Man ride, WEB-Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure. The Spider-Bots will be heavily featured in the story of the ride, where Spider-Man gives guests a tour of the facility before...
In combat, Miles regularly takes on dozens of henchmen at a time, fluidly swapping among enemies and dodging attacks with Arkham-inspired choreography (or, probably more accurately, “Spider-Man-inspired,” but we all know my history there). It’s never difficult to find a target, and battles feel fantastically frenetic, even when it seems like Miles should be overwhelmed. He collects powers beyond Peter Parker’s — electricity and invisibility — and these tools are employed in stealth missions and high-action moments in equal measure.  Part of the reason the game feels so seamless is its complete lack of loading screens on the PS5. Between missions, cutscenes and respawns, Miles Morales is an uninterrupted reel, just as Sony has been promising since day negative-one of this console generation. If Miles dies in a fight with some suped-up baddies, the scene immediately resets from the last checkpoint and the action continues. Cutscenes bleed seamlessly into gameplay...
Unlike other heroes, Spider-Man’s identity expands rather than contracts. The costume is something anyone could theoretically wear. In Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Stan Lee has a cameo as a shopkeeper selling the Spider-Man suit: “It always fits. Eventually,” he says. Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, the character’s creators, often spoke about Spider-Man being an “ordinary” person, rather than a billionaire playboy or godlike alien. Miles Morales, a Black and Latinx Spider-Man created by Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli, has become the new “ordinary” face of the hero. He has his own current Marvel Comics series; he starred in Into the Spider-Verse; and now, he’s the protagonist of Insomniac Games’ new PlayStation exclusive. After finishing it, I was left with a sense of belonging, of intimacy with characters and relationships, in this scaled-down version of an open-world game. Miles Morales is a character who was created to make others...
Spider-Man: Miles Morales certainly owes a lot to the massive success of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, the 2018 animated film that helped catapult Miles’ iteration of the webslinging hero to new heights of popularity. So it’s fitting that players will be able to suit up in Spider-Verse’s now-iconic spray-painted version of Miles’ black-and-red suit in Spider-Man: Miles Morales. But developer Insomniac Games didn’t just make a simple skin; the studio actually replicated Spider-Verse’s bold, comics-inspired animation style for the Spider-Verse suit’s gameplay, right down to the Ben-Day dots and altered frame rate. Combat is even punctuated with flashes of on-screen onomatopoeia. And it looks spectacular, at least in the short video that Insomniac released to show off the suit. I’m not entirely sure what the feasibility of making an entire Spider-Man game in Spider-Verse animation would be, but the suit — which looks like a playable version of...
Rumors are swirling about Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire appearing in the sequel to Spider-Man: Far From Home, with Sony releasing an ambiguous response: “Those rumored castings are not confirmed.” As Coming Soon points out, this phrasing isn’t an outright denial. It suggests that the actors may currently be in talks to reprise their roles, and Sony doesn’t want to jump the gun. Most of the time, studios don’t comment on random casting rumors at all. Hide The idea of a Garfield/Maguire comeback is leading to speculation about a live-action version of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, featuring several versions of Peter Parker from different universes. This would be a bold departure from the more conventional superhero stories of the first two Tom Holland movies, but there are more clues to back it up, starting with Marvel‘s upcoming sequel to Doctor Strange. Hide Directed by the original Spider-Man trilogy filmmaker Sam...

Spider-Man: Miles Morales is coming to the PS4 and PS5 on November 12th, but this week we got a glimpse of the game’s most important feature by far: Spider-Cat. Yes, Spider-Cat is real and they can absolutely be your friend and crime-fighting partner. The big reveal comes courtesy of a gameplay video from Game Informer that shows Morales following up on a bodega robbery. The exact plot isn’t fully explained, but it seems the bodega owner has a cat (also named Spider-Man) who was taken during the crime. Morales dutifully heads off to rough up the bad guys, and in the process retrieves our feline friend, who is apparently then unlocked as part of an optional costume for the player. Spider-Cat doesn’t just chill out in your backpack, though. Once suited up with its own mask, it will even deliver finishers to bad guys, leaping at them...
Benedict Cumberbatch is joining the cast of Tom Holland‘s third Spider-Man movie, an unexpected move that puts him in a similar role to Robert Downey Jr‘s Iron Man. Is this a sign of things to come for the next phase of the MCU? Hide According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange will play a “mentor role” to the teenage Peter Parker, replacing Tony Stark who died in Avengers: Endgame. He’s a rather unexpected choice because Strange and Spider-Man aren’t really an established duo in the comics, although they did share a couple of scenes in the last two Avengers movies. It also fits with the MCU’s vision for Spider-Man, which relies on a mentor/student dynamic between the young Spidey and an older male authority figure. (In Spider-Man: Far From Home, Jake Gyllenhaal‘s Mysterio also took this role.) Hide Daddy issues are a recurring theme in the MCU, and Hollywood...

2018’s Spider-Man is headed to the PlayStation 5, but buying it won’t be straightforward. Sony has confirmed to Kotaku that Spider-Man Remastered — the updated PS5 version — won’t be sold as a standalone title or offered as a free upgrade for existing Spider-Man owners. Instead, the only way to buy it will be as part of the $69.99 Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition bundle, which couples the PS5 version of the upcoming spinoff with Spider-Man Remastered. (Miles Morales typically costs $49.99 on its own.) The issue is, as with several other cross-generational games, there are actually two versions of Spider-Man: the regular PS4 version that’s been around since 2018 and a new edition of the game called Spider-Man Remastered, which will feature specific next-gen improvements to take advantage of the PlayStation 5, like faster load times and ray tracing. (The games are separate enough that you apparently won’t be...
Now we know everything we need to know about PS5: its Pricing and release date, Its hardware specifications and its Controller features. Thanks to Sony’s informative post, we also know the computer’s first release library. And, frankly, not much there. The PS5 will be introduced with six exclusive titles, which is not a bad number at first glance. But on further inspection, one of them is already installed, two of them are remasters, one of them is a complete expansion and two of them are technically speaking, the same game. The list comes from the officer PlayStation Blog, Which had Sony’s incredibly comprehensive, informative follow-up PS5 Showcase On September 16th. The post is extensive and discusses everything from release date to system specifications, parts. But what is particularly interesting here is the list of first-party PS5 release titles. According to Sony, what you can buy with your PS5 is here:...
Does your Netflix home screen — you know, the one with your user profiles — now have a “Shuffle Play” button? That’s because Netflix is actually planning to bring a shuffle feature to its collection of streaming movies and TV shows, letting you avoid yet another argument with your spouse/housemate/partner/etc about what you’ll be watching this evening. The company is already testing a few potential ways the feature might look, including the “Play Something” variant that my colleague Julia Alexander snapped a quick picture of below. But it sounds like it’s not just an experiment: “The hope is to absolutely productize something,” a spokesperson told Variety . Variety writes that the test is only available on “connected TV devices” right now. I didn’t see it on my Roku. When Julia gave the “Play Something” button a spin, it fired up an episode of Netflix’s Umbrella...
Square Enix’s Avengers game will arrive this fall, and it’ll bring back console-exclusive content in a big way: the company announced that PlayStation players will get exclusive access to a playable Spider-Man character sometime in 2021. Frankly, that sucks. It’s not clear whether Sony paid Square Enix extra for the exclusive character or if this is simply an extension of the movie rights that Sony has long since held to the character. But the fact is that PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 owners will be able to get access to a major piece of content for the upcoming game that players on Xbox, PC, or Stadia won’t. Platform-exclusive content in third-party releases has been a frustrating aspect of the games industry for years, with both Sony and Microsoft shelling out for exclusive levels or early access in games like Call of Duty, Destiny 2, or Control. But since...
It’s not too surprising to find out Spider-Man is only coming to PlayStation. After all, Sony recently published an exclusive featuring Peter Parker and is working on a standalone title starring Miles Morales. The good news is that players across all platforms will have access to Hawkeye when Crystal Dynamics adds him to the game sometime after launch. What’s more, the studio plans to add both heroes to the game for free.     Marvel’s Avengers comes out on September 4th on Google Stadia, PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One. Next year, it will also make its way to ninth-generation consoles, with PS4 and Xbox One owners getting a free upgrade to the respective next-generation version. In the meantime, you can take part in the game’s PS4 beta this weekend if you pre-ordered the title.

Sam Raimi’s sophomore Spider-Man movie aimed much higher and bigger than his first movie ever could, in part because of just how keenly it understood Marvel’s mightiest hero. In many ways, at its simplest, Spider-Man 2 is its predecessor rendered again, albeit at a grander scale. Its beats and thematic throughlines build on issues reflected there—the way our protagonists and antagonists alike are forced to play into the systems of power throughout society, the strive for balance between personal desires and senses of duty to a wider whole, even the very idea of how passion can...

The watchwords of Stan Lee are suffused into the very fabric of who Spider-Man is as a character, and how Sam Raimi brought him to the big screen in 2002 is no exception. But Raimi’s first swing with Spidey balances its earnest, comic book glee with an examination of just what power actually does to the men who wield it, Spider or otherwise. The early aughts were an important time for superhero movies. The ultra-camp excesses of the Joel Schumacher Batman films—derided at the time, but now held in a rightfully higher esteem, even with those Bat-nipples—scared studios from the work of just how to adapt comic book superheroes...
J.K. Simmons has already shot his next J. Jonah Jameson scenes. The actor revealed the news in a recent interview and now everybody wants to know what movie it’s for. Simmons did not elaborate any further on what project he’ll appear in next, but many are already hoping that it’s Spider-Man 3, even though the production hasn’t started up yet. With how far in advance Marvel Studios works, even with Sony involved, it would not be surprising to know that Simmons shot a lot of extra stuff while on the Spider-Man: Far From Home set. When asked if fans can expect J. Jonah Jameson to return for Spider-Man 3 earlier this year, J.K. Simmons said, “I don’t know if I would use the word expect… It’s great to have the opportunity, as these things evolve, to be one of the holdovers from the previous version.” Now, he has changed...
Miles Morales takes place in winter, about a year after the events of the last game, which laid the foundations of Miles’ origin story. Miles has been honing his Spidey skills under the wing of Peter Parker, but he’ll be put to the test amid a war that breaks out between an army of criminals and an energy corporation. Miles will have different suit powers from Peter, such as invisibility and bio-electricity. His combat and movement will be distinct from Peter’s as well. He hasn’t quite mastered the art of swinging on webs through the city just yet, so he’ll flail around more than his mentor. As you might expect, Insomniac plans to tap into the power of the PS5 hardware. It’ll include “near-instant loading, ray-tracing, 3D audio” and take advantage of the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback functions. Character models have been updated with 4D scans and more advanced skin...
Spider-Man: Miles Morales will have a “full story arc” for Miles in a stand-alone game that will be comparable to Uncharted: The Lost Legacy in scope, developer Insomniac Games said Thursday. This means that while Miles’ game may not be a “full game” in the same way that its 2018 predecessor was, it will still have a multi-hour campaign. Fans were confused last week when the game was revealed during Sony’s “Future of Gaming” livestream, as mixed messages from Sony made it hard to tell if Miles Morales was an expansion or a brand-new title. Bloomberg reported that the game “will be smaller than a traditional console game but will be sold as a stand-alone project,” and Insomniac has now confirmed that report in a PlayStation Blog post. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy began development as an expansion for 2016’s Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End but ended up being released in...
When Sony unveiled its initial lineup to accompany the launch of the PlayStation 5, the title that received the most excitement from fans was easily Spider-Man: Miles Morales. But hours after fervor about a sequel to 2018’s Spider-Man spread online, Sony is now walking back the assertion that Miles Morales is a sequel. Spider-Man: Miles Morales was described as “a new adventure from Insomniac Games” when it was announced during a reveal event for Sony’s PlayStation 5, and based on what was shown in the announcement trailer, it was easy to presume or infer that Miles Morales was a sequel. And it’s not a far leap to figure that a Spider-Man video game sequel would star Miles: In a post-credits scene for Spider-Man, we see Miles—who is already a playable character in the 2018 game—reveal his newfound powers to Peter, who then returns the favor. But according to Sony’s VP...
