    CHICAGO (CBS) — A driver struck Cook County Sheriff’s Police squad car as it waited in traffic, forcing it into another squad car in front of it around 1 a.m. Sunday morning, Illinois State Police say. The driver then attempted to flee the scene of the crash but was apprehended by responding CCSPD officers. Both officers in the vehicles that were struck were taken to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. The driver in the car that struck the squad cars was not injured. Police arrested and charged Zaccheus Torry, 42, with driving under the influence, Scott’s law and other traffic citations.     MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating after a trooper-involved crash in Minneapolis. According to the state patrol, the incident happened late Monday evening at the intersection of 11th Avenue South and South 7th Street, which is in the downtown area just south of U.S. Bank Stadium. Prior to the incident, state troopers were responding to a rollover injury crash near Interstate 35W and Hennepin Avenue. The driver and other occupants involved in that crash fled from the scene on foot. Law enforcement, including the state patrol, began searching for them.     DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – A 40-year-old man was arrested after his car collided with a Dallas police squad car with two officers inside. Neither officer was hurt, although they did go to the hospital for evaluation. They were treated and released. The two Southwest Patrol officers were traveling northbound S. Westmoreland Road at W. Ledbetter Drive Thursday morning when it happened. Suspect Kendall Hayes was driving westbound on W. Ledbetter Drive and ran the red light at S. Westmoreland Road, colliding front into the right passenger side near the right front quarter of the squad car. Police determined Hayes was under the influence and arrested for DWI.
    MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A St. Paul man was injured after crashing his vehicle into a State Patrol squad car Saturday morning. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the incident happened around 10 a.m. near Cedar Street and 12th Street East in St. Paul. There, officials say a 37-year-old man in a BMW was traveling westbound on 12th Street when he struck a State Patrol SUV that was northbound on Cedar Street. Officials say the BMW failed to stop at a red light, subsequently t-boning the right front of the squad. The driver of the BMW sustained non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the State Patrol squad car was not hurt.
    GARLAND (CBSDFW.COM) — Garland resident Kambria Hart ran into a string of bad luck when she and her husband lost their jobs. The pair was already struggling to pay rent and provide for their family, when a car crash multiplied their concerns. Hart was pulling out of a gas station — with her two kids in the car — when her vehicle collided with Garland Officer James Brezik’s squad car. Both vehicles were totaled. “I was already having a bad day, I was trying to pay rent,” Hart said. “I started panicking because I didn’t know what was going to happen.” Hart says she initially worried she was going to jail, but never expected what happened next.     MILWAUKEE (AP) — A 27-year-old man died Tuesday in a head-on crash with a Milwaukee squad car, police said. The man’s vehicle crossed the center line into oncoming traffic around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and collided with the marked Milwaukee Police Department squad car, police said. The Milwaukee man had to be extricated from his vehicle and died of his injuries. A 25-year-old Milwaukee woman who was his passenger was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The squad car was driven by a 54-year-old officer who also suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital. He is a 17-year veteran of the force.     MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — The Chisago County Sheriff’s office says a 47-year-old man was arrested after assaulting two people inside of a convenience store in Shafer Monday morning. Deputies were notified just before 10 a.m. that a “white man with a beard and a ponytail was assaulting the clerk inside of the store as well as the person who called in about the incident.” Witnesses said after the suspect left the store, he fired a handgun and had smashed a windshield with the handgun. As a patron was calling 911, the store clerk had pressed a hold-up alarm and deputies responded to the area. Upon arrival, deputies discovered that the suspect had fled the scene. Witnesses relayed the suspect’s license plate to authorities, which registered to a local man from Shafer. Deputies soon encountered the suspect near his residence on Quinlan Lane, with the suspect accelerating and ramming into an occupied...
