Conservative thinker Jordan Peterson was shocked this month to discover that Marvel Comics had assigned his writings to the evil Nazi villain Red Skull in the latest issue of Captain America. Peterson commented on the absurd situation upon the release of Captain America comics, Volume 9, #28, published by Marvel Comics last week. The current series is being penned by left-wing activist Ta-Nehisi Coates. On one page of the new issue, Coates parodied Peterson’s famous book 12 Rules for Life by depicting the series’ classic villain Red Skull — a character long associated with Nazi Germany — pushing an Internet video called “The Ten Rules for Life.” The page also features Captain America criticizing the “weak” young men who glom onto Red Skull’s online videos. “It’s the same for all of them. Young men. Weak. Looking for purpose. I found the flag, you found the badge. They found the Skull,”...

Llukalkan means "the one who causes fear" in the language of the indigenous Mapuche, and aliocranianus is Latin for "unusual skull."An artist impression of what Llukalkan aliocranianus may have looked like by Jorge Blanco. Part of a family of dinosaurs called abelisaurids, the creature would have broadly resembled a Tyrannosaurus rex in appearance, with tiny stubby arms. But an unusually short, deep skull, which often bore crests, bumps and horns, set it apart. At least 5 meters long -- around the size of an elephant -- Llukalkan aliocranianus would have roamed Patagonia...

In light of Evan Rachel Wood's allegations that her ex-fiance Marilyn Manson abused her for years on Monday, disturbing comments he made in 2009 have resurfaced.  Manson was being interviewed by Spin magazine when he said he fantasized every day about 'smashing her skull in'. His legal team later played the remarks down as him being a theatrical rock star promoting a record.  The pair went public with their relationship in 2007 when Wood was 20 and Marilyn - whose real name is Brian Warner - was 36.  They were engaged for seven months in 2010 but never married.  In 2018, she testified before Congress about being physically and sexually abused by an unnamed partner.  On Monday, she named Manson as the abuser and four other women came forward with similar allegations on social media.  Manson has not addressed their allegations. He has, in the past, denied violence against Wood.   In...

Disney announced this week that the long-gestating fifth installment of the Indiana Jones franchise is in pre-production and slated for theatrical release in July of 2022. Well, the hope is for a theatrical release. Who knows what the lay of the land will look like in 18 months. By then, the coronavirus vaccine might have already turned us into flesh-eating maniacs soothed only by show tunes. The good news is that Steven Spielberg will NOT be directing and George Lucas will have nothing to do with the script. After the catastrophe that was 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, a movie so embarrassing, so uncomfortable to watch, even a completist like myself won’t go near it (and I own A View to a Kill), it was definitely time for some new blood, which Disney has found in James Mangold, a terrific, unpretentious action-director whose idea of...

Paleontologists have finally identified a ferocious dinosaur with a crocodile-like snout that terrorized inland seas more than 60 million years ago. Gavialimimus almaghribensis, a new species of mosasaur, was cataloged and named by an international team led by Catie Strong, a graduate researcher at the University of Alberta in Canada. Remains of the marine predator were found in Morocco, where more than a dozen types of mosasaur have been discovered. Mosasaurs, which breathed air and could reach 55 feet long, lived during the Late Cretaceous period, between 72 and 66 million years ago. Strong said the discovery helps prove mosasaurs became expert 'niche' hunters, allowing them to coexist in a crowded ecosystem.  Scroll down for video   A three-foot long fossil of a Gavialimimus skull, along with other bones, was discovered in a phosphate mine in Morocco. A woman in her 40s began leaking brain fluid from her nose after getting swabbed for COVID-19 testing, a new case report reveals.  Health care workers often jokingly describe nasopharyngeal swabs - the extra-long Q-tips used for many coronavirus tests - 'brain-scraping' implements.  But for the Iowa woman, that joke was too near to reality.  Shortly after she went for COVID-19 testing, the woman's nose started dripping profusely, her head started hurting and she became so nauseous she was vomiting.  When her head and neck got stiff and she tasted metal, the woman went to the doctor, where scans revealed a hole at the base of her skull.  Cerebrospinal fluid - a protective clear liquid that surrounds the brain and spinal cord - was dripping from her nose.  It's the first time doctors have reported the alarming and potentially dangerous leak, triggered by the dreaded coronavirus test swabs. But in...

Sauropods — large, four-legged, long-necked dinosaurs — were born with a horn and binocular vision that disappeared as they matured, a study has found. Experts took 3D scans of a rare, 80 million-year-old, 1.2 inch wide fossil skull of an unhatched dinosaur that was found preserved inside its egg in Patagonia, Argentina. The team think that — had it actually hatched — the juvenile would have used its horn to help it crack its way out of its egg's shell, or for defence or foraging. The extraordinary fossil specimen represents the most complete and articulate skull found to date of any titanosaur — which were the world's largest-ever land animals. The largest of these giant plant-eating behemoths — such as Argentinosaurus and Patagotitan — would have grown to reach around 120 feet long.  A different site in Patagonia — Auca Mahuevo — was where sauropod dinosaur eggs were discovered for the first time,...

A 242 million-year-old reptile with a neck three times the length of its torso lived in the ocean, a 3D skull reconstruction reveals. Scientists describe the weird 20-foot-long creature and its incredible giraffe-like neck as a 'paleontological absurdity'.  Fossils of the creature, belonging to the Tanystropheus genus, were discovered back in 1852 and have been puzzling scientists ever since.  Experts couldn't tell how the creature would have been able to support its ludicrously long neck if it had been roaming on land during the middle Triassic period.  But a new study led by the University of Zurich in Switzerland has now shown that the creature lived in water and was 'surprisingly adaptable'.  Nostrils located on the top of the snout and curved teeth were perfectly adapted for catching slippery prey such as fish and squid.  The Tanystropheus genus also evolved into two different species, one larger than the other, the new research concludes.  ...
