Bleary-eyed lawmakers have pulled an all-nighter to vote on President Biden's $1.9trillion stimulus bill - as Democrats were blasted by their own party for 'sending money to fewer people' than Trump, cutting direct payments, reducing unemployment benefits and failing on the $15 minimum wage.  The Senate commenced a dreaded 'vote-a-thon' - a continuous series of votes on amendments - shortly before midnight on Friday, and by midmorning Saturday had dispensed with over two dozen. Dating app Bumble has temporarily deactivated its political filter after it emerged users are hunting down Capitol rioters and luring them into sending picture evidence that is then submitted to the FBI. Some users were angered, claiming that Bumble is 'protecting insurrectionists' and 'quick to protect terrorists', after they noticed the filter for political preference was removed Thursday. Bumble said they had done so to 'prevent misuse' and that it still condemned 'illegal activity', though did not clarify whether they regarded the FBI tips as 'misuse'.  The popular app also faced criticism on social media for allowing those who took part on last week's violence to promote their participance on their profiles through their bios and pictures. Bumble has responded to say it is working on removing profiles that show evidence they were linked to the rioting, with some users also posting their success in getting rioters banned from the...

The Associated Press reports that missing from the visit will be unlawfully appointed acting DHS Sec. Chad Wolf, who resigned Monday. But following the D.C. attack (nice job securing the “homeland” there, Chad), elected officials, editorial boards, and border communities are demanding Trump stay away too. "Normally we would welcome a presidential visit to our state. Tomato, tomahto… A Wisconsin woman’s text sparked a full-blown police response after it autocorrected to say she was being “stabbed” — instead of “swabbed” for COVID-19. The unidentified woman’s frantic father called 911 after receiving the alarming message late last month, The Appleton Post-Crescent reported Monday. “He indicated that his daughter was being stabbed, possibly by a live-in boyfriend,” Menasha police officer Nick Oleszak told the local paper. At least eight cops rushed to the woman’s apartment to check up on her. Then, much to everyone’s surprise, the woman showed up unharmed. Turns out, she’d gone to a clinic to get tested for COVID-19 and had told her dad she was being “swabbed” without noticing autocorrect changed the word to “stabbed.” “She said she was fine and it was all a misunderstanding,” Oleszak said. The mix-up lasted around 25 minutes, Oleszak noted, saying officers had “used an abundance of caution.”...

Pasquale Preziosa, of Atlantic Beach, 53, refused to come out of the house on Erie Avenue when officers arrived at the scene at approximately 10:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 18, and threatened to harm those officers in an attempt to goad them into shooting him, according to Nassau County Police.  Authorities from the department's Emergency Service Unit, Bureau of Operations and Hostage Negotiation team formed a perimeter around the home. After hours of unsuccessful negotiations, officers spotted flames on the building's second floor, which slowly spread throughout the building.  A team of 60 firefighters from five departments worked to extinguish the blaze, and authorities located semi-conscious Preziosa in the building's basement. He...
Two window washers were injured in New York City on Saturday morning after a scaffolding malfunction caused the platform they were standing on to plummet 13 floors down the side of a 101-story Hudson Yards skyscraper. The two men – one in his 20s and the in his 30s – were washing windows on the 50th floor of 30 Hudson Yards at around 11am when the scaffolding failed and they began to make a 'controlled descent' down the side of the building. Authorities said that the platform they were standing on came to a sudden stop at the 37th floor of the building at West 33rd Street and 10th Ave. The abrupt stop flung the men from the platform, however, and they fell a further 20ft onto the roof of the building's 35th floor.  Scroll down for video  A window washer is taken by stretcher from 30 Hudson Yards...
LANCASTER (CBSLA) — People were urged to look out for their older loved ones Friday after authorities say they investigated a fraud case that bilked an elderly woman of more than $25,000 this week. The woman, who was not identified, had been contacted by someone who claimed to be a computer repairman, according to Lancaster Sheriff’s Station spokeswoman Ali Villalobos. The scammer conned the woman into giving him personal information, allowing him to concoct a story and convince her to draw $10,000 out of her account. Authorities say the conman contacted the woman again a few days later, convincing her to send him another $10,000. With the information he gleaned from his conversations with the woman, Villalobos said he frightened her again into giving him another $5,000. Villalobos said watching out for older loved ones is all the more important as the holiday season approaches. “As we sit and read...

Emails purportedly from the far-right group Proud Boys were sent to hundreds of registered Democrats in Florida -- threatening them that they have to change their party affiliation to the Republic Party and vote for President Trump or “we will come after you.” The FBI and the Department of Homeland Security are investigating the matter. The emails, viewed by authorities as an attempt to intimate voters, were reported to election officials and sheriff’s offices in at least two counties, Brevard and Alachua, as well as at the University of Florida in Gainesville. Local law enforcement then notified federal partners, who are investigating whether members of the Proud Boys group are indeed responsible. Preliminary evidence suggests the emails were sent from outside the continental United States.  According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, the emails read: "[name] we are in possession of all your information You are currently registered as a Democrat and we know this because we have...

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and his office reportedly pushed against a plan to send approximately 100,000 new absentee ballots after Brooklyn residents discovered that the ballots they received in the mail had the wrong name listed on the return envelopes. Voters were concerned that if the signatures they provided on their ballot did not match the envelope, their vote in November's election would be invalid. "The governor wants to take a different approach," state Board of Elections co-chair Doug Kellner told the New York Post. MISMARKED ABSENTEE BALLOTS IN NYC LEAD TO 'MASS CONFUSION,' OFFICIAL SAYS Cuomo's office commented that sending new ballots was unnecessary because the problem was with the envelopes, not the ballots. "We don’t control the board of elections but our recommendation was that sending corrected envelopes will ensure that any person that got an erroneous envelope can still vote,” senior Cuomo adviser Richard Azzopardi told the Post. “There is...

An Arlington, Massachusetts, school reportedly sent home a 9-year-old boy after he was caught sneezing in class. Lancinet told the station that after he "sneezed two times," his teacher directed him to visit the school nurse even though he felt just fine. Lancinet told WBZ that he had to wait in the nurse's office until his father was able to come and pick him up. "I was thinking I didn't have anything, just a couple sneezes," the child told WBZ. FACEBOOK and Instagram may stop operating in Europe if a ban on sharing data with the US is enforced. Facebook has denied the court filing was a threat though. A Facebook spokesperson told us: "Facebook is not threatening to withdraw from Europe. Authorities have detained a person suspected of mailing President Trump a package containing the highly-toxic poison ricin, an official said Sunday. The suspect was picked up by US Customs and Border Protection agents, a federal law enforcement official told NBC News. Other details about the suspect and arrest were not immediately available. It was reported Saturday that federal officials last week intercepted an envelope addressed to the White House containing the poisonous substance. The package was detected at a government facility that screens mail addressed to the White House and President Donald Trump. Two tests were done to confirm the presence of ricin in the package, law enforcement sources told CNN. In 2018, a former sailor was arrested in Utah for allegedly sending envelopes containing the unprocessed source of ricin — seeds from the castor plant — to Trump at the White House and also to the Pentagon. Talking about being baptized with the "Holy Ghost and fire." A Michigan pastor has been hearing a whole lot from the public recently after sending an email to journalist Sarah Jeong—which was then posted by Jeong on her Twitter account. In the email, the christian (with a little “c”) David Muns threatens Jeong with genital mutilation, calling her a “bitter Asian woman.” The entirety of his statement will be discussed below, and includes graphic language, but those are the broad strokes. Muns was supposedly responding to a meme that attributed a fake quote to Jeong, from her time on The New York Times editorial board. Someone (or someones) spent a good amount of time coming up with some wildly awful things to say about white folks and white children, and then attributed them all to Jeong. These quotes were debunked back in 2018, but Muns, not much for reading deeply into things, clearly missed the memo. The...
