Reymundo Espinoza and his team were gearing up to administer 100 Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines to homeless downtown San Jose residents this week when news broke about possible blood clots associated with the shot. “We had to cancel because they told us to not provide Johnson & Johnson,” Espinoza, CEO of Gardner Health Services, said. Now, the one-dose-and-done vaccines one advocate called a “godsend” for farmworkers, homeless residents and other vulnerable communities — with impact far beyond the relatively small number of doses so far produced — are sitting in storage, waiting for a review by federal health authorities who will determine if it is safe. That has thrown a wrench in efforts to vaccinate hard-to-reach residents who aren’t always easy to schedule, or even find, for a second appointment. Although the six reported cases of blood clots are extremely rare, the Tuesday suspension of the vaccine also re-energized...
A man who had the Moderna Covid vaccine says he developed blood clots he feared would kill him.  Jeff Johnson's claims have dragged dragging the Massachusetts-based firm into an ongoing health scare that has already engulfed rival vaccine manufacturers Johnson & Johnson and AstraZeneca. Scientists have yet to provide a solid link between the new Covid vaccines and blood clots.  Johnson, of Brighton, ended up in the emergency room after experiencing pain and swelling in his left leg, reported KDVR. He was diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis (DVT), which is when a clot forms in a vein deep in the body such as in the thigh or lower leg.   Jeff Johnson, 49 (pictured), of Brighton, Colorado, experienced blood clots in his leg one week after he received the Moderna coronavirus vaccine at the Salud Family Health Centers According to Johnson, his doctor said it's possible the blood clot,...

An armed robber from Trenton thought he’d found an easy victim in a would-be gun buyer – only it turned out to be an undercover agent who shot him instead, authorities said. Members of a federally-led task force were investigating gun trafficking and other crimes when Jabree Johnson, 28, got into the undercover agent’s car at the Krauszer’s on Greenwood Avenue in Hamilton Township on March 22, Acting U.S. Attorney Rachael A. Honig said. Johnson handed over a semi-automatic handgun that the agent inspected before returning it and asking to see others, Honig said Friday. At that point, Johnson pointed the loaded weapon at the agent and demanded money, the U.S. attorney said. The agent handed over some cash and, following Johnson’s orders, got out of the vehicle, Honig said. The agent then drew a service weapon and fired, hitting Johnson in the shoulder, she said. Johnson squeezed off several...

CROMWELL, Conn. — It’s easy to under-appreciate Dustin Johnson for how consistently good he is — one of the most consistent players in the history of golf. Johnson overcame a two-shot deficit entering the final round of the Travelers Championship on Sunday at TPC River Highlands, shot an eventful final-round 67 and won for the 21st time in his career. As impressive as that number 21 is, this one is even more significant: The win gave Johnson at least one victory in each of the past 13 years, a feat only the Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Tiger Woods, Billy Casper and Lee Trevino ever accomplished in the game. “Winning 13 years straight on the Tour is a pretty big accomplishment,’’ Johnson said. “Anytime you’re mentioned with those guys — with Tiger, Jack, Arnie — you’ve got to feel good about that because they’re the best that’s ever played this game.’’...
Dustin Johnson won the Travelers Championship on Sunday to end a long drought and extend his career-long season victory streak to 13. Johnson closed with a 3-under 67 for a one-stroke victory over Kevin Streelman at fan-free TPC River Highlands. Johnson last won in Mexico City in March 2019. “I’m definitely proud of myself for continuing the streak and I want to keep it going,” Johnson said. “It was a long time between wins, though, and, so, hopefully, it won’t be that long for the next one.” Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus each won in 17 consecutive years. Johnson failed to win in 2014, but is given credit for winning in the 2013-14 season from his victory in the fall of 2013 in Shanghai. The tour changed to a wraparound season in 2013. Johnson tapped in for par on the par-4 18th, raised his ball to acknowledge the smattering of...
